“Wedding venue ” Review of Sandringham Yacht Club

Attended recently for a wedding and it is a Great wedding venue, great staff and great food. The only downside was there was one security guard, which was difficult when a gate crasher arrived and attempted to spoil the fun! Other than that, the venue could not be faulted.

I always like coming here. Right from the week it opened a few years ago now. It always keeps up its standards. The view is one of the best on the bay, and so close to Melbourne. However please book before you go as it is most popular with its members and those in the know. Not a large menu, but well chosen, seasonal and always tasty. Service, ambiance, friendly people are all there !!

It's been ages since I wrote a review but this meal really stood out for me. My husband booked a degustation dinner as the surprise restaurant choice to celebrate our third wedding anniversary. We had one of our earliest dates here before I relocated to Melbourne to Sydney and so he wanted to recapture a bit of the bayside magic by ensuring we arrived for our dinner before sunset. To be honest, when he first said he'd booked here I was a teensy bit disappointed, wanting a flashier, maybe trendier restaurant to have our anniversary dinner in. When we arrived at about 6.45pm, there were only about two other tables with diners, but we were all enjoying a glass of champagne, watching the boats bob on the water as the sun set over the Melbourne skyline. By the time we left at about 9.30pm the restaurant was full and we felt very pleased with ourselves to have been "in-the-know" enough to arrive early to enjoy the full sunset experience. The degustation meal of six, beautifully prepared dishes knocked our socks off. Sooooo good; I felt bad I (inaccurately) pre-judged it. I think the bill was about $210 or so - absolutely worth every dollar! The waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly too. I would recommend this degustation dinner to anyone.

Lovely decor and beautiful views of the bay but our meals and the service were quite disappointing, especially considering the prices. My husband ordered the vegetarian option - a mushroom lasagna dish. The meal was quite small and not as appealing as the menu suggested. Other options for vegetarians were very limited. If the restaurant seeks to appeal to a wide range of customers, it really needs to lift its game and provide vegetarian dishes with more interest and flavour. As regards service, the waiter forgot one of the dishes ordered by our friends and then got all our coffee orders mixed up. One error is understandable, two a bit much.

Sunset soiree for Carla and Mauricio’s Sandringham Yacht Club wedding

After six pandemic postponements, the seventh time was a charm for this melbourne couple and their sandringham yacht club wedding..

Carla and Mauricio's Melbourne waterfront wedding ended with the most gorgeous sunset over the bay and guests clamouring to get a glimpse of it.

Their Sandringham Yacht Club wedding followed a traditional church ceremony at St Mary's Ascot Vale on January 16, 2022, which was six postponements in the making.

Carla and Mauricio and their son Alejandro celebrated the uniting of their little family with 100 guests and loved ones. Baby Alejandro helped Dad Mauricio propose at just two weeks old when "Mummy, will you marry Daddy?" was written inside his onesie. 

The couple chose Sandringham Yacht Club for its panoramic water views, delicious cuisine, and perhaps above all else, the promise of an idyllic sunset. On their day, the weather gods delivered. 

Carla describes their style as classic meets beach , informed by fresh white roses, emerald and greenery accents, and timeless black tuxedos. Photos by Ateia Photography were the perfect mix of candid and posed, "they were so experienced and made us feel so comfortable," Carla praises.

"After all the postponements due to covid, the seventh time was the charm for us," says Carla. "Our wedding day was definitely worth the wait."

Mauricio and I fell in love with the beach views at Sandringham Yacht Club. We also knew that the sunset view on our wedding day would be so romantic and picturesque. We were right! As soon as it was sunset, all our guests were outside admiring it. The service on the day from our event coordinator was brillant. We got so many compliments about venue view, food and drinks. Everything was so perfect! We would'nt change a thing!
