Corinth Canal is Now Open For Transiting

The Corinth Canal is now open for yachts to cross as of 5/7/2022 and for initial 3 months.

General Information

The canal operates 24 hours, 7 days per week except on Tuesdays from 06.00 to 18.00, when regular canal maintenance is carried out.

Towage is compulsory for all vessels exceeding 800 net tonnage, vessels not under command tankers and vessels carrying dangerous cargoes.

The use of pilots is compulsory for all vessels under towage and during night transits for all vessels exceeding 100 net tonnage.

The Corinth Canal is a junction of international sea communications and serves ships of all nationalities. It provides the shortest and safest sea-lane for ships coming from seaports of the Ionian sea, the Adriatic, Southern Italy, and those passing through the Straits or Messina en route to Eastern Mediterranean ports and on to the Black Sea and vice versa.

The bearing of the Canal is 131,5 degrees, or 311,5 degrees and it intersects the Isthmus of Corinth, forming a straight line through it. It cuts through the uneven landmass of the Isthmus, which reaches a maximum height of 79 metres above sea level. • The total length of Canal amounts to 6.343 metres, 54O metres of which are taken up by the ports of Poseidonia and lsthmia at either mouth of the Canal. The measurement of the Canal is located on the Canal’s axis, from a point fixed at 83 metres from the Poseidonia jetty, ending at a point on the axis fixed at 40 metres off the Isthmia jetty.

The maximum width of the Canal that is safe for navigation is 24.60 metres at Sea level and at mean low water level, and 21.00 metres on the bottom. The depth of the Canal on the axis is 8.00 metres from mean Low water level.

The maximum air-draft of the Canal is limited to 52m because of the rail and road bridges.

We offer clean, dry, indoor winter storage for ribs , small boats and other watercraft at our main storage/service site opposite Rhodes New Marina . 

We can transport and store indoor:

CN  winter storage service includes the following:

• Transport from your dock to our facility in the fall
• Full winterization
• Storage in our clean and secure indoor storage facility 
• Maintenance check-up for possible problems that should be fixed before spring
• All boats are thoroughly cleaned and vacuumed before leaving the storage site
• Transport from the storage building back to your dock in the spring or by arrangement 
• Free trailer storage while your boat is in the water

Our comprehensive winterization process covers every system of the boat, not just the engine. 

This includes:

• Stabilizing gas
• Pumping out head and water tanks
• Anti-freeze in engine and water system
• Winterizing air conditioners, ice makers, generators, etc.

Do it yourself

You may use our facilities 09:00 AM to 17:00 PM and feel free to do any work on your boat . In our warehouse we offer a small workshop equipped with essential tools and machinery to do the repairs and maintenance you wish. In our warehouse we have a small “first aid” chandlery and marine supplies which will cover your needs for maintenance , cleaning , polishing , wax etc  

Small storage rooms

In our Indoor facility we also provide small storage rooms for long or sort term rental . You may store all your items in those storage rooms which are accessible to you Monday-Friday 09:00 AM – 21:00 PM , Saturday 09:00 – 1500 Sunday and after hours by appointment only .

We also have space dedicated to storing cars, motorcycles and other vehicles over the winter/summer or for other periods.

Announcement on sea borders between greece and turkey.

Borders with Turkey are now open for yacht arrivals and departures with passengers as of 12th August 2021 to 19th August 2021

First entrance and arrival of the yacht in Greece is permitted only in the following ports: Rhodes – Symi – Kos – Kavala Myrina of Limnos – Mytilene – Kalymnos Chios – Scala of Patmos Samos ( Vathi and Pythagorio )Agia Marina of Leros

Health protocols

Notice prior to arrival must be given to the Port Treasury of the visiting port minimum 6 hours prior to arrival and all passengers or crew on board should have with them :

• A vaccination certificate issued by a certified authority.

If the passengers are not Vaccinated we need:

• A negative PCR COVID-19 test result from a laboratory; the test must be taken up to 72 hours before entry in Greece. 
• A negative antigen (rapid) result from a laboratory; the test must be taken up to 48hours before entry.
• A certificate of recovery from the SARS-CoV-2 virus infection issued by a public authority or a certified laboratory.
• Proof that the traveller was tested positive with COVID-19 in the past 2 to 9 months. This can be proved either by presenting a positive PCR molecular or an antigen test result performed by an authorized laboratory or a medical certificate confirming that the holder was tested positive with SARS-CoV-2 virus infection.
• The EU Digital Covid-19 Certificate or a Covid-19 Certificate from a third country, in either printed or electronic form, which includes information related to their vaccination, or the result of their PCR or rapid test taken before travelling, or the details about their Covid-19 infection.

Nationalities

On board the yacht besides the crew members passengers Residents of EU Member States and Schengen associated countries (Andorra, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, San Marino, Vatican, the Principality of Monaco), the USA, the UK, Serbia, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, the Russian Federation, Israel, Canada, North Macedonia, Ukraine, China, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Belarus, Bahrain, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Japan, Lebanon, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Jordan, Moldova, Brunei, Kosovo and Turkey may ENTER and visit Greece for pleasure, provided they can fulfill the general entry requirements.

Extraordinary announcement on VAT

We would like to inform you that Decree  A.1070/2021  was published yesterday afternoon. According to this Decree the previous one ( A.1118/2020 ), regarding the tax relief because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the calculation of the VAT of the chartering of commercial vessels based on the category of the vessel (A, B, C) described in the Decree  ΠΟΛ.1159/1997 , will be suspended on  01-04-2021 . In conclusion, you can proceed with the calculation of VAT as follows:

• VAT Imposed on the entirety of the recompense (100% of the taxable value). Keep in mind that a 13% VAT is calculated in this transports until the 30-09-2021.
• VAT Imposed  on the 50% of the entirety of the recompense for the provision of such services as part of the voyage in conducted in international waters or in a state outside the EU. It is considered that ships finalize 50% of the tax percentage for the entirety of the freights completed within a tax year according to Sent. C of Par. 1 of the Art. 3 of this Decree, only if 60% of the usage time of the ship, as results of the lease time of the ship, as well as 60% of the total distance made is conducted outside the territorial waters of the mainland (open sea voyage), if the departure harbor is located on the mainland or outside the territorial waters of the island where the harbor is located or/and in territorial waters of another state outside of the EU. The ship-owner must provide proof of all aforementioned requirements in any means possible such as private GPS and the printing of such data.
• VAT could also be Imposed On the entirety of the recompense (100% of the taxable value) with the ability to reduce the taxable value and VAT return with the issue of an invoice for the customer after the completion of all freights and the determination and proof of the real usage of the ship within or outside the Greek territorial waters (GPS data).

It is of vital importance to keep in mind that up until the commencement of the electronic application of the Article 6 of the Decree A.1018/2020, the determination of each calendar year is conducted based on the data submitted by the ship-owners by any means possible such as GPS and the AIS system or by printing all these data and submitting them to the tax authorities.

You must use the same way of calculating VAT throughout the whole calendar year.

To sum up, you can make your choice based on the following data:

• If it is certain that the we can print any necessary data from a GPS or that you will be able to prove throughout the tax year the entirety of the open sea voyages (60% of the usage time of the ship, as results from the lease time, and above 60% of the total distance covered outside the territorial waters of the mainland (pen sea voyage) if the departure harbor is located on the mainland or outside the territorial waters of the island, where the           departure harbor is located, or/and outside the territorial waters of another state outside the EU) you can chose either  (2) or (3)
• If above is not certain that we will have all necessary data at our disposal, it is preferable to calculate a VAT of 13% for the whole freight (case (1)).

During the event, the Committe approved the admission of Crocus Expo IEC as a full member of UFI in categories of “Exhibition Organizers” and “Exhibition Centres.
