Road Harbour

There are a few things that you should be wary of as you proceed with your charter yacht. Some of the lights on the buoys might not work. You might also want to avoid Denmark Bank as it can prove to be dangerous for deep draft keelers during a heavy swell.

General Information

Road Harbor is located in Road Town and is its primary waterfront. It is the commercial seaport and the main port of entry for the British Virgin Islands. Road Harbor and the shores immediately around it form the largest concentration of marinas in the Lesser Antilles, and it is deep and large enough to deal with many cruise ships at once. This is the reason why Tortola is known as a port of call.

You will find quite a few small marinas that serve as yacht charter bases offering services and accommodation to the boaters inside Road Harbor, such as the Road Reef Marina and the Fort Burt Marina . Just next to Customs, inter-island ferries stop at the ferry dock on the northwest tip of Road Harbor.

What to do in Road Harbour?

This is the place where the journey to the BVI by yacht charter usually begins and ends for many charterers. Road harbour consists of a number of marinas that will allow you to stop by. The prominent features within this place are the government dock and cruise ship docks, but they are for commercial and official use.

Places of Interest

Road reef marina.

This wonderful marina lies along the western side of Road Harbor, located on the north side of Burt Point. This is home to the popular TMM yacht charters. You will find electricity, water and ice on the shore. Tortola Marine Management (TMM) looks after the marina. Fuel docks are not available because of the adverse environmental impact that might be induced by a spill.

Fort Burt Marina

You will find this marina just next to Road Reef Marina on the western shore of Road Harbor. The marina is famous for Conch Charters. There is a fuel dock available on the outer dock. You will find The Pub, which is a bar-restaurant and its terrace is the usual hangout place for yachties.

The Government Dock

This is the primary point of entry to the BVI and the main office of BVI Tourist Department. Vessels coming from outside of BVI will require clearing customs and immigration here. The docks here are used by commercial vessels and ferries. You will find the main ferry dock here as well. You can get a cab or walk into the town from here.

Baugher’s Bay

Baugher’s Bay is located on the eastern side of the harbour and is mainly a commercial port from where the ferry of Peter Island Resort operates. You will find a few restaurants as well, including the Chillin’ Cafe that serves Caribbean food for lunch and dinner, and Capriccio di Mare that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner for a reasonable price.

Road Harbour is the commercial seaport of the British Virgin Islands . There are a number of smaller marinas around the harbour such as the Road Reef Marina and the Fort Burt Marina , an overnight small boat anchorage, customs and immigration offices. We want to provide an exemplary charter experience whilst maintaining your vessel to a high standard. Safety always comes first, but that doesn't mean our guests can't have fun too! Are you interested in exploring the underwater world as well? We can guide you through the reefs while either diving or snorkeling just as comfortably as we navigate the islands above the water. We pride ourselves on making every charter a unique experience by catering to each guest's preferences and requests. Neither of us ever imagined we'd be living and working on a boat, but can no longer imagine life anywhere else! Combined, we have over 30 years of diving experience, over half of which is in a professional capacity. We met working for a dive charter company in coastal North Carolina. Caitlin had completed a degree in Marine Science from Rutgers University and was aiming to increase her professional dive experience while Jeff was a newly minted captain after many years working abroad in Asia and Central America as a dive instructor. In the past seven years, we've worked in the US, Fiji, and the BVI, transitioning from resort and dive shop management to running charter boats and haven't looked back since! Crew are fully vaccinated for Covid 19.

Yacht Description

CUAN LAW yacht is a 105.00 ft long sailboat catamaran and spends the summer and winter season in the British Virgin Islands. It was built by Muirhead Trimaran in 1988. A refit was done in annually. The yacht layout features 10 cabins and accommodates 20 guests. The cabin arrangement is following: 10 queen cabins, 10 twin cabins.

The sailboat features Two 210 HP Caterpillar diesels engines and a generator.

Crew Information

Captain: Scott Ferris

CUAN LAW CREW CAPTAIN Captain Scott over many years has done everything and every job on the Cuan Law except Chef. We owe him a huge dept of gratitude as he has been the foundation stone of the crew. He has trained up dozens of our crew over the years. Scott started off as steward on board and then, after getting his Divemaster rating, he led many dives in addition to his work as steward. Scott still loves to dive and will certainly do some dives with you whilst on board. He then moved on to Engineer as he had always had a great interest in, and aptitude for, the ship's machinery and equipment. He has fixed numerous problems, installed much new equipment and machinery and done many upgrades. He still likes to mess around below decks playing with machines! After a few years as Engineer and then First Mate, we promoted him to Captain and added the job later of Captain Trainer. Scott has done many, many charters as Captain, has as much knowledge as Owner Duncan, and really understands "The Cuan Law Way". He has a great sense of humor and is very fun-loving, and he runs a well organized and motivated team. A few years ago he married our then Chef, Kellie, whom many of our past guests will remember and future guests will get to meet as she is now back on board. Scott’s sister, Kim, is our Operations Manager. ENGINEER/MATE Ariel was born and raised on Tortola and moved to Thailand at the age of 12. Ariel joined us on board the Cuan Law shortly after he returned to the BVI’s in 2017 as steward and is currently very excited as he has decided to embark on training to become our engineer. Already - in just his first year year spent with us on the Cuan Law - Ariel has become a Certified diver and is working on getting his Dive Master. He’s also gained experience with cooking which occasionally helps remind him of his years in Thailand as he still spends some of his time in the galley. In his free time he enjoys skateboarding, surfing and being out on the water with friends. With his deep love for music he also owns a guitar that, unsurprisingly he doesn’t have time to play! DIVERS Reka and Sabina Reka Lukacs is a Hungarian girl from Transylvania, Romania who joined the Cuan Law early in 2018. She began her travels as an au pair in England where she learned English and ever since she got comfortable speaking it she just can’t stop traveling! She lived in Mexico where she was mesmerized by the beauty and magic of the underwater world so she became a diver. After that she continued her journey to Thailand where she spent a lot of time guiding the shark watch trips and got passionate about underwater photography. She got to experience a bit of Australia as well before riding the waves on a rigid inflatable boat to the dive sites of Mozambique. She already enjoys the shore hike/walks around the smaller islands of the BVI and exploring the big rocks at The Baths on Virgin Gorda. She is a fun loving, talkative girl who is all smiles and laughs and ready for games at any time :) Capt. We owe him a huge dept of gratitude as he has been the foundation stone of the crew. He has trained up dozens of our crew over the years. Scott started off as steward on board and then, after getting his Divemaster rating, he led many dives in addition to his work as steward. Scott still loves to dive and will certainly do some dives with you whilst on board. He then moved on to Engineer as he had always had a great interest in, and aptitude for, the ship's machinery and equipment. He has fixed numerous problems, installed much new equipment and machinery and done many upgrades. He still likes to mess around below decks playing with machines! After a few years as Engineer and then First Mate, we promoted him to Captain and added the job later of Captain Trainer. Scott has done many, many charters as Captain, has as much knowledge as Owner Duncan, and really understands "The Cuan Law Way". He has a great sense of humor and is very fun-loving, and he runs a well organized and motivated team. A few years ago he married our then Chef, Kellie, whom many of our past guests will remember and future guests will get to meet as she is now back on board. Scott&rsquo;s sister, Kim, is our Operations Manager.<br /> <br /> ENGINEER/MATE<br /> Ariel was born and raised on Tortola and moved to Thailand at the age of 12. Ariel joined us on board the Cuan Law shortly after he returned to the BVI&rsquo;s in 2017 as steward and is currently very excited as he has decided to embark on training to become our engineer. Already - in just his first year year spent with us on the Cuan Law - Ariel has become a Certified diver and is working on getting his Dive Master. He&rsquo;s also gained experience with cooking which occasionally helps remind him of his years in Thailand as he still spends some of his time in the galley. In his free time he enjoys skateboarding, surfing and being out on the water with friends. With his deep love for music he also owns a guitar that, unsurprisingly he doesn&rsquo;t have time to play!<br /> <br /> DIVERS<br /> Reka and Sabina<br /> Reka Lukacs is a Hungarian girl from Transylvania, Romania who joined the Cuan Law early in 2018. She began her travels as an au pair in England where she learned English and ever since she got comfortable speaking it she just can&rsquo;t stop traveling! She lived in Mexico where she was mesmerized by the beauty and magic of the underwater world so she became a diver. After that she continued her journey to Thailand where she spent a lot of time guiding the shark watch trips and got passionate about underwater photography. She got to experience a bit of Australia as well before riding the waves on a rigid inflatable boat to the dive sites of Mozambique. She already enjoys the shore hike/walks around the smaller islands of the BVI and exploring the big rocks at The Baths on Virgin Gorda. She is a fun loving, talkative girl who is all smiles and laughs and ready for games at any time :)<br /> <br /> Capt.
