The Paul & Shark yachting collection dates back to the mid-1970s, when Paul&Shark entered the luxury sportswear sector with a collection inspired by the sea, the world of sailing and the spirit of adventure. Paul and Shark is a name that has been around since 1975. The company was founded close to Milan and started out as a knitting mill. Since then, the brand has gone on to create fantastic pieces of clothing, like their famous Paul and Shark t-shirts, and into a well-known designer label. Paul&Shark

On 4 March 1957, the mill Maglificio Daco, founded in 1921, opened its doors under the new owner Gian Ludovico Dini. Every aspect of the production took place within the company: from sourcing the yarns to producing the fabrics and making all the packaging. Clothes were shipped around the world thanks to prestigious partnerships with Christian Dior and Balenciaga.

At the start of the 1970s, Paolo (Paul) Dini, the eldest son of Gian Ludovico, during a trip to a small sailmaker’s workshop in Maine, found a sail from an old 18th-century clipper that caught his attention: the inscription read “Paul&Shark”.

It was fate.

The Paul&Shark brand was born.

The yachting collection dates back to the mid-1970s, when Paul&Shark entered the luxury sportswear sector with a collection inspired by the sea, the world of sailing and the spirit of adventure.

In 1978 the C0P918 pullover was born: a sailing sweater that would become an icon of the Paul&Shark style: immediately recognizable from its packaging, a metal used onboard boats as a multi-purpose container. The water-repellent sweater had immediate success and signaled the start of a whole new water-repellent knitwear collection.

Over the years the company has expanded to become a comprehensive smart casual and luxury sportswear brand, famous for the quality of its garnments, appreciated by fans of Italian design and high-performance technical materials, many of which have been patented by Paul&Shark.

Paul&Shark collections (men’s, children’s and accessories) are available throughout the world in 73 different countries, 458 cities and more than 280 Paul&Shark monobrand boutiques located in the most exclusive shopping areas, from Via Montenapoleone in Milan, to Rue du Faubourg St. Honore’ in Paris, to Dubai and Moscow.

They used to have a retail store in Atlanta; it was open a year or two, I think. Kind of nice resort/sailing/golf etc. wear. I thought it seemed overpriced, but at their store they had big sales periodically. I found the line to be overly "branded" myself. DH  

Paul & Shark It is an Italian company (notwithstanding the name...). I bought a couple of sweaters from them many years ago and I was quite surprised by how long they lasted and how well they held their shape. I am not crazy about the style right now, but that is of course a matter of personal preference.

Flanderian called it. They are very pricey, very good quality and they offer a slightly weird assortment of clothes but I like all their sailing/boating related sportswear. They are also WILDLY knocked off and ebay is polluted with counterfeit stuff so you would have to tread super lightly picking up anything P&S on Ebay. One drawback as mentioned is that on some items they tend to plaster their logo all over it.  

B ig & tall Some of their stuff is offered in Rochester Big & Tall, usually 6 to 10 pieces. Made in Italy, bit pricey $350 for a cotton sport shirt, much like Cutter & Buck in cloth & color selection. Bought a sweater & polo last year on sale...well made not really a full cut but not snug. Consider I'm 6'2' & 275 wearing a 52 long coat & 45 waist.

While I can't fault their quality, I was put off them by the fact that every airport and high-end mall in SE Asia seemed to have a P&S store. Irrational, but there it is.  

I have worn Paul & Shark for a number of years. Great quality and decent styles. I currently have a few pairs of their shoes, several shirts, and a jacket.  

Best brand for true "Italian" look. Very pricey!

WINTER SEA: While Paul & Shark’s rebranding is ongoing as it inches toward a proposition that’s less anchored in its yachting and sea-centric past, the brand joined the Milan Fashion Week calendar to present a resortwear capsule collection as part of its fall lineup.

After unveiling its main collection at Pitti Uomo last week, the brand threw an afternoon bash at member’s club Casa Cipriani, a stone’s throw from its store on Via Montenapoleone, which saw guests, including talents Creed Mckinnon and Jonas Kautenburger, among others, sipping cocktail at aperitivo and dancing until after dawn.

Last June, Paul & Shark bowed its inaugural resortwear line, called Riviera, at a cocktail party at its Milan store.

Softening the core yachting ethos of years past, the brand’s sustainability credentials and link with the sea are being exalted via lifestyle-leaning activations and communication projects, while its fashion is increasingly more in tune with customers’ demand for clothing apt for outdoorsy experiences.

Cue the most recent activation in Italy’s tony ski destination Cortina d’Ampezzo , where the brand took over the storied Scoiattoli chalet and linked with the Cortina d’Ampezzo ski club.

15 men brought to military enlistment office after mass brawl in Moscow Oblast

Local security forces brought 15 men to a military enlistment office after a mass brawl at a warehouse of the Russian Wildberries company in Elektrostal, Moscow Oblast on Feb. 8, Russian Telegram channel Shot reported .

29 people were also taken to police stations. Among the arrested were citizens of Kyrgyzstan.

A mass brawl involving over 100 employees and security personnel broke out at the Wildberries warehouse in Elektrostal on Dec. 8.

Dmitry Korchak (born February 19, 1979 in Elektrostal/Moscow Oblast) is a Russian tenor and conductor.

Korchak received his musical education at the Moscow Choral Academy. In 2004 he won prizes at the “Francisco Viñas” International Singing Competition in Barcelona and at the Plácido Domingo Operalia International Competition in Los Angeles.

As a singer he has appeared at La Scala in Milan, the Vienna State Opera, the Berlin State Opera Unter den Linden, the Paris Opera Bastille, London’s Covent Garden and New York’s Carnegie Hall. He has collaborated with artists such as Daniel Barenboim, Riccardo Chailly, Plácido Domingo, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta and Kent Nagano.

From 2017 to 2020, Dmitry Korchak was Principal Guest Conductor at the Novosibirsk Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, where he directed his own festival, and Guest Conductor at the Mikhailovsky Theater in Saint Petersburg.

Korchak has made several guest appearances at the Kissinger Sommer, the Salzburg Festival and the Rossini Festival in Pesaro, where he also worked as a conductor. Korchak also worked with the Bavarian Radio Orchestra and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, among others.

In the Moscow region there is a small cozy town Elektrostal. Its sights for the most part have no historical value due to the fact that the city has a relatively small history. But for a visiting tourist or city dweller, they will be of interest. There is something to see, where to go to have an exciting leisure time.

Today the population of the city is 158 thousand people. Until the beginning of the 20th century there were several small workers' settlements here. After the opening of the electrometallurgical and equipment factories, the place began to be called the natural boundary of Calm. The construction of the railway made this settlement accessible, and workers and families flocked here to earn money. In 1925, the station was named Elektrostal, and the rapid increase in population allowed the village to receive the status of a city.

The founder of the city is a prominent Russian industrialist Nikolai Vtorov. It was he who opened the plant here, creating, in fact, a city-forming enterprise that is still operating. In Soviet times, it was a closed facility, and it was not easy to get to work here.

Today Elektrostal is a promising industrial city with a great future and a heroic past. It bears the proud name "City of Military and Labor Glory".

Those who come to the city by train are met by a monument to the metallurgist. It was installed in November 2017 for the 100th anniversary of the Elektrostal plant. The attraction is made in the style of constructivism. The monument quickly won the love of the townspeople, because this city is supported by ordinary workers.

Elektrost altsy and the founding father of the plant, Nikolai Vtorov, are honored. In 2002, a monument was opened in honor of him, which became a landmark of the city of Elektrostal. One of the popular places for spending weekends and evenings among citizens and guests of the city is the Park of Culture and Leisure. Here you can ride attractions for children and adults, play slot machines, rollerblade or bike. The park is divided into two zones. Fans of unhurried walks in the fresh air make a promenade on the Quiet Alley, and those who prefer outdoor activities flock to the Entertainment Alley. The park has a summer stage, where concerts and cafes are regularly held.

Until 1999, there was no central museum among the attractions of Elektrostal in the Moscow Region. The expositions were exhibited in schools, the house of culture, in factory museums. The city was closed, so there was no large influx of tourists and visitors. The appearance of the historical and art museum made it possible for residents and guests of the city to learn a lot of useful information about their native land, the formation of the production process, and the difficult years of the war. The exposition consists of paintings by local artists, historical artifacts, household items, documents, books and much more. The collection is updated regularly. It also hosts outdoor exhibitions, which are always popular with the townspeople.

One of the main attractions of Elektrostal, the photo of which is available to almost every resident or visitor, is the Main Alley. On herpassers-by like to stroll along shady paths, townspeople rest by the fountain after a hard shift at the plant. Flower beds are the decoration of the alley. In 2006, a flower festival was held here for the first time, which has become traditional. Each enterprise of the city and private individuals give residents a real composition of fresh flowers, which pleases with bright colors all summer long. A riot of colors, aromas and a flight of fantasy reigns here. Walking through the park, you can see Snow White with a basket, a bright well, a multi-tiered cake made from fresh flowers, hearts of lovers or a fabulous house. It is almost impossible not to take a photo against the background of these compositions.

There is a cultural center in the city. It hosts performances by local creative teams and visiting stars, performances and circus performances.

In 1971, the ice palace "Crystal" was opened in the city. Almost immediately, a children's and youth hockey team was organized, which gained sports fame. This is the home sports arena for the Elektrostal hockey team. Matches of different levels are held on the ice.

Elektrostal is a city with a heroic past. During the war years, more than 12 thousand citizens came to the recruiting station and went to the front to defend their homeland. In 1999, a museum and exhibition complex was opened in the city, where, in addition to the exhibition hall, there are numerous circles for children, classes for young people, and a creative workshop. Various festivals, exhibitions, city holidays and other events are held within the walls and on the territory of the complex, which attract many spectators.

Listing the sights of Elektrostal, it is impossible not to mention the temples. There are several of them in the city: the church of St. John of Kronstadt, St. Andrew's Church, the hospital church of St. Panteleimon. Another new church is being built. In appearance, the temples look ancient, monumental, in the Novgorod style. But they were all built at the end of the 20th century.

Let there be no ancient artifacts among the sights of Elektrostal. But on the other hand, all of them are connected with the history of the city, with everyday work and military exploits of ordinary residents.
