British Crew Killed in Electrocution Accident on Super Yacht in the Caribbean

A tragic incident occurred on a luxury super yacht in the Caribbean, resulting in the death of a British man named Roy Temme. Temme, a crew member and Chief Engineer on the 205ft yacht Baton Rouge, was electrocuted while working on the vessel in Antigua. He was found unresponsive by a colleague after venturing into the engine area to investigate a power outage. Despite efforts by paramedics and the police, Temme was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.

The yacht had been moored in the harbour since the end of the previous month, and detailed investigations are ongoing. Temme, a father of two from Southampton, was also listed as the former director of RT Maritime Ltd. A crowdfunding page has been set up by his friend to support Temme’s family, allowing his partner Natasha to focus on their children’s welfare without financial worries. The tragic incident has left the maritime industry in shock and highlights the risks that crew members face while working on luxury vessels.

While the incident involving Roy Temme is a tragic reminder of the dangers faced by crew members at sea, it also serves as a call for improved safety measures in the maritime industry to prevent such accidents from occurring in the future.

Chief Engineer dies on board

A crowdfunding page has been launched to offer support to the family of roy temme, who tragically lost his life this week following an incident on board….

A British crew member, Chief Engineer Roy Temme, has tragically passed away while aboard the  Baton Rouge  whilst docked in Antigua. 

On Thursday 22 February 20:58 local time Baton Rouge  experienced a blackout and functionality was restored immediately. A damper was identified to be no longer working and maintenance was scheduled for the following day.

At 07:30 local time, Temme,  a 47-year-old father of two from Southampton, UK, entered the technical space to fix the damper. He was found unresponsive shortly thereafter by a colleague who had noticed his absence. Medics were immediately called at 08:30 local time and performed CPR. Temme was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Burgess , the yacht's management firm, issued a statement confirming that the next of kin have been informed, and it is cooperating with authorities to ascertain further details.

An investigation into the incident is still ongoing.

A crowdfunding page has been launched by Oliver Boghurst, a friend of Temme, aiming to alleviate financial burdens for his wife, Natasha. These contributions will provide her with some peace of mind, allowing her to focus on the well-being of their children without the additional worry of financial strain in the coming months.

A British man has died after reportedly being electrocuted on a super yacht in the Caribbean .

Crew member Roy Temme had been carrying out work aboard the luxury vessel Baton Rouge while it was moored at a harbour in Antigua last Friday morning. He was later found unresponsive.

The 47-year-old dad-of-two, from Southampton, was serving as the Chief Engineer on the 205ft yacht and had ventured into the engine area after a reported power outage, but was later discovered slumped over by a colleague. Police and paramedics were called to the vessel at 8.30am local time. Mr Temme was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.

It is understood the yacht had been in the harbour since the end of last month. Further investigations are continuing into the tragedy, the port authority has confirmed. Mr Temme is listed as the former director of RT Maritime Ltd. A crowdfunding page has been launched by friend Oliver Boghurst.

Mr Boghurst said: "Your donation will help to provide Natasha with some peace-of-mind at this time, allowing her to focus on the children's welfare, rather than worrying about how she is going to pay the bills over the next few months."

A spokesman for the Royal Antigua Police Force said: "A UK national was helped to the main deck, while the Antigua and Barbuda Search and Rescue-ABSAR was called to the scene. He was transported to the hospital where a doctor pronounced him dead around 10:19 am."

A local Port official said officers were called to reports "of concern for the welfare of a man on board a boat in English Harbour". They went on to say: "Immediate action was needed after establishing that he didn't look well. The paramedics arrived and did their best but sadly he died. He was in his 40s."

The Baton Rouge is UK-flagged and was launched in 2010. It is Lloyd's registered.

A spokesperson for the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) said: “The Marine Accident Investigation Branch has been notified of an accident involving the Isle of Man registered large yacht Baton Rouge. Acting on behalf of the Isle of Man registry, the MAIB has sent a team of inspectors to Antigua to gather evidence and examine the vessel.”

The owner took delivery of the yacht in September 2010.  Icon motor yacht Baton Rouge is an imposing full-displacement superyacht. She has incredible volume over her six decks.  A total of 1,423 gross tons.  Motor yacht Baton Rouge has more volume than most other 63-meter luxury yacht charter vessels.  In specific, currently on the water.  In addition, she is a green, eco-friendly yacht!

Exterior styling for megayacht Baton Rouge was provided by Tim Heywood, with Redman Whiteley Dixon designing the interior.

Fully-stabilized and optimized in every respect for luxury living afloat, her extensive interior guest areas include multiple lounges and a choice of dining options, which cohesively encompass both townhouse elegance and beach house chic to suit one’s mood.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Accommodation for 12 guests in 7 large cabins is configured as a large master suite on the main deck, two VIP cabins on the upper deck, and two doubles and two convertible doubles/twins on the lower deck.

INTERIOR DESIGN

The yacht is full of wonderful textures. The materials range from beautiful woods, leathers, marbles, nickel, and bronze details.  Further, to handcrafted furniture and original artwork.  The vessel’s eclectic contemporary interior is both serene and stylish. The theme of space continues through to the deck areas.  These are expansive and with great outdoor spaces for lounging and dining.  Additionally, a pool with a jet stream and a dedicated sundeck (which converts to a party deck) exist.  The party deck has an enormous circular sun pad.  There is also an inviting beach club lounge at sea level.

With more volume across her six decks than any other yacht of her size, the superyacht 205ft (62.5m) Tim Heywood-designed BATON ROUGE is the quintessential motor yacht for up to 12 guests to enjoy a marvellous family charter vacation in the Mediterranean in the summer and the Caribbean in the winter.

Special features which make luxury private crewed yacht BATON ROUGE unique include an extended beach club, gymnasium, observation lounge, piano, over-sized jacuzzi with swim jet and enormous upper sun deck which converts to a party and dance floor, complete with sound system.

The appealing sun deck has a gigantic circular sun pad forward, and several sun lounges aft, plus a shaded dining space and full bar.

On the bridge deck are even more leisure amenities to entice guests, including lounge area, undercover dining table for 12 and magnificent jacuzzi with swim jet for keeping fit or cooling off.

The upper deck has yet more options for dining and entertaining, with a large dining table and lounges flowing into the bright upper deck saloon with its electric piano, ingenious bespoke games table and panoramic observation lounge.

The lower deck beach club is more like a laid-back lounge and water toy centre, offering easy access to the water and spectacular viewing platform to watch all the fun.

With a refreshing palette of marine hues, counterpointed by wicker and timber, BATON ROUGE boasts spectacular interiors by Redman Whiteley Dixon, with many innovative and customised features.

Designed with a super-stylish beach house theme, guest areas have a cool, comfortable vibe that perfectly suits both relaxation and entertaining.

In the main saloon, the Kaleidescape entertainment system providing on-demand music and movies. Sky UK, Sky France Satellite TV where geographically available and there are iPod docking stations in main saloon, sky lounge, all guest cabins and gym. 

ACCOMMODATION

Luxury charter yacht BATON ROUGE provides lavish accommodation for 12 guests in seven spacious cabins including two VIP cabins spread across three decks.

The vast, 100-square-metre master suite is forward on the main deck and comprises two private offices, a dressing room and separate vanity, and a huge bathroom with frosted glass rainfall shower and blue marble bath with massive porthole window for breathtaking sea views.

Two VIP suites are located on the upper deck and four further double cabins are on the lower deck, two of which convert to twins.

WATERTOYS & TENDERS

Guests aboard BATON ROUGE will have more than enough to occupy each day of their charter. The well-equipped gymnasium comprises Technogym exercise wall, weight bench, exercise bike, treadmill and free weights.

There are three tenders: an 8m Yachtwerft Meyer Limo tender for arriving to shore in style, a 7.1m Castoldi tender and 6.2m Pascoe SOLAS. For high-energy fun, there are two 3-person SeaDoo 260 Limited iS waverunners, one SeaDoo SPARK, two Seabobs, kayaks, four SUPS, Jobe shock knee board, one full kitesurfing set, scuba diving equipment, snorkelling gear, waterskis, wakeboards and tow toys.

Motor yacht BATON ROUGE is an approved RYA Training Centre for waverunners and jetskis.

From her main salon to her observation lounge, guests will be dazzled by the yacht’s chic beach house styling, which creates a relaxing atmosphere throughout.

Featuring vast outdoor living areas charter guests will enjoy living the alfresco lifestyle while aboard. The sundeck is a guest favorite with its bountiful sunpads and plush sun loungers, which allow guests to become kissed by the sun. When the sunsets the sundeck can easily be converted into a club-like atmosphere where charter guests can dance the night away. On the bridge deck aft, the superyacht features a jet stream pool flanked by sunpads, which offers the perfect spot to relax as well as a great workout, if desired. If working out is a desire while aboard, BATON ROUGE also has a well-equipped gym off the beach club. Providing the ultimate on-water experience, the charter yacht showcases a spacious beach club where afternoons can be spent lounging by the water’s edge and enjoying the yacht’s array of water toys.

At the end of the day, the superyacht’s seven sumptuous staterooms offer tranquil havens to rejuvenate after a fun day on the water. Start the day with an energising workout in the gym, or swim against jets in the bridge deck pool to work up an appetite. Or if you prefer a more relaxed morning, have a coffee and a long, leisurely breakfast on the bridge deck aft, then stretch out on the sun pads that flank the pool.

Guests will gravitate to the sun deck where there is more than enough sunbathing space for 12 people to unwind, be it on the gigantic circular sun pad forwards, or the peaceful sun loungers aft. Enjoy a relaxed, gourmet lunch in the shade of the superstructure, then retire to the fresh, bright upper deck lounge with its ingenious bespoke games table, or enjoy the views and the silence in the panoramic observation lounge.

As the sun drops and the heat subsides, burn off some energy on the water with BATON ROUGE's huge selection of watertoys. Take a break in the large, luxurious beach club or grab a snorkel and plunge off the swim platform for a more sedate encounter with the sea.

As evening draws in the sophisticated main lounge is the perfect place for cocktails, and the chef will create an exquisite fine dining experience either al fresco or in the formal dining room on the main deck. At night head up to the sun deck which has a cool club atmosphere with its own light show and disco, or take a cognac to the observation lounge and enjoy the library.
