Explore historical Jesolo

Although the history of Jesolo dates back to the fall of the Roman empire, the town itself might not be the best place for history lovers to visit. Yes, there is the “Vidotto” Military History Museum which offers many insights into the first world war that you might not get to see anywhere else, but you won’t find the impressive ancient Roman ruins or other historical buildings like in other parts of Italy. If you want to discover the most interesting historical sites of the area, you should definitely visit Venice, one of Italy’s most ravishing cities. You can learn a lot about the history in one of the many museums, walk around the historic streets and see people dressed as characters of the 17th/18th century. If you don’t want to go too far away from Jesolo, you can always visit places like Casa Pesaro , which is also great if you want to take a walk in nature away from the crowds.

The Bunker della Prima Guerra Mondiale , a bunker from the first world war, is also an interesting historical site to visit to learn more about the history of the area during this period in time.

Sailing conditions in Jesolo

It can get very hot in the summer, so make sure to bring enough sunscreen for protection. The summer months June, July and August are particularly popular among tourists, so be prepared to share the beach with plenty of other travelers. Water temperatures are also very pleasant in the summer. As the summers can be quite busy, expect lots of traffic on the roads and on the waterways.

Winters can become quite cold in this part of Italy, so be prepared to bring some warm clothes when coming here during this time. If you decide to come here in the winter, you have to share all the space with fewer tourists and get to see the lovely Christmas market.

Sail from Jesolo to Punta Sabbioni : This might not be the most beautiful spot you can visit on a boat vacation in Jesolo, but the views with the lighthouse offer a great contrast to all the history you can admire in Venice. About the author

Hey everyone, my name is Michelle and I want to tell you all about my wonderful home in the north of Italy, Jesolo!

Jesolo has long been a popular summer resort for families, particularly popular with our neighbors from Austria, Germany, France, Poland, Hungary, and Slovenia.

I moved to Jesolo for “amore!!”

My husband is Italian and is a general manager of one of the hotels here. We live five minutes away from the lido with our one-year-old son.

Some include a slide so your kids can have fun jumping in and out of the water!

Bounce in Sunny Acquapark

Jesolo has a Giant aquapark on the sea- during the summer, there is a huge aqua inflatable for kids to jump and bounce along on the sea.

An adventure park on the water for kids to run around on and burn off their energy.

Enjoy Jesolo’s Isola pedonale

During the summer months, May- September, Jesolo city center is pedestrianized as the city enforces its isola pedonale .

From 8.00pm, the main street running in front of all the restaurants, bars, hotels and arcades is free from cars.

Here, families walk in peace, searching for the best pizza or pasta for dinner!

They can also stay up late, making the most of the late opening hours of shops, open for business until 11pm (Please note: to do this, they close for a couple of hours during the day, from 12 to 4 pm)

Isola pedonale is a car-free area but you can rent rickshaws to get around: just be careful as they are great fun but they are quite a test for your driving skills!

Have fun in Caribe Bay theme and water park

Caribe Bay is a famous award-winning theme park, one of the best water parks in the area and beyond.

You can quite easily pass a whole day here! I did!

The park has several pools with slides and interactive games for all ages, beach and relaxing areas with umbrellas and many food options with family favorites.

Upon entering, you get a wristband so you do not need to worry about your purse when you want to buy something to drink or drink. You just tap the wristband and pay when you exit the park!

To make the visit even easier, sunbeds here have small safes for your valuables while you tackle the slides! There are also live shows and a few rides for the younger children too!!

You can find here >>> photos and info about Caribe Bay Jesolo here <<<

Admire the views from Jesolo’s ferris wheel

The Wheel of Venice shows you lovely views in all directions.

One direction the sea and another towards the lagoon! You go around roughly 2-3 times.

Quite fun for the little ones and gives mum and dad a chance to sit down!

Beach of Lido di Jesolo on the Adriatic Sea in a beautiful summer day, Italy with Jesolo's Ferris wheel in the background

Meet the animals in Jesolo’s Tropicarium

Tropicarium IS MY FAVOURITE PLACE in Jesolo! Especially to go with my young son. There are three exhibitions to see and you can buy a ticket for all of them, or just for one.

Each area focuses on on different species. You have the aquarium- which lets you dive (not literally) into the ocean!

In other areas, you visit the tropics, or go between penguins, frogs, snakes and finally you get to the predators area, which s pretty self-explanatory and exciting for kids.

You can also choose to visit the opposite science park, and add this to your ticket too!

Enjoy Jesolo’s Pineta

Pineta is the pine tree forest of Jesolo.

La pineta is a little further away from the main drag of the lido and sports a more natural look, although it hosts with campsites and walks.

In this area, there are a few hotels, plenty of restaurants and a small inflatable park for children to bounce around in.

Maybe before dinner, so work up an appetite!

The lighthouse in Jesolo, Italy

If anyone wants to play 9 or 18 holes and take a break for the beach, they can do so on Jesolo’s Gold course!

Here you can play a round of golf or even indulge in a few lessons. The golf course is only a 5-10 minute drive from the lido.

Find info about Jesolo’s Golf Course here

Go to the Luna Park

Now this place is heaven no matter your age, Jesolo’s answer to DisneyWorld! Just on a smaller scale… Much smaller!

But equally as fun with rides for all ages and arcade games.

Find info and opening season here

Go to the market

Every Friday the local market happens in Jesolo Paese.

Here, you can buy local cheese and fish (if you were staying in an apartment!) and try to cook it yourself to have a real taste of local life.

Find here >> our guide to markets in Italy

We are lucky to be on the lagoon and have breathtaking landscapes accessible only by bike.

Most hotels often bike for their guests, but there are also opportunities for bike tours around Jesolo, but guided and self-guided.

If you just fancy renting a bike and going around Jesolo at your own pace or want to have a guided tour Laguna Ebikes is the place for you!

Tours cater to all abilities and levels of fitness and are suited for those who want it to be more leisurely and for those who can almost ride up a vertical hill.

I would suggest these tours for families with older kids especially, as little ones may find a whole day excursion to tiring.

If you have small kids who do not cycle, you can get seat attachments for the back of the bike and the little carriage so younger children can ride in comfort.

Have fun go-karting

Jesolo has two go-kart tracks.

One is 730 meters long and for drivers over the age of 16.

The other is 250 meters long and for children over 1.25m. Different types of go-karts are available, from 160cc up to 270cc engines, which means everyone, from beginners to pros, can experience go-karting in the safest and most comfortable way possible.

There is also a restaurant if you want to stop for lunch!

Have gelato

Here in Jesolo we have what feels like hundreds of options for gelato pit stops but my favorite one is, Malù, owned by a lovely lady called Alessia.

Very close to Piazza Marconi, it has flavors including Nutella, White chocolate, Snickers, Candy Land (always a favorite with young children for its bright blue color!), Strawberry…. the list goes on!

It also has a good selection of vegan and dairy-free gelato too!

Bring your furry friend to Bau Beach

Are you traveling with your canine companion?

If so, this is the beach for you. During the high season here in Jesolo, dogs are not allowed on the beach.

So they have made them their own special beach where they have a run-around area in the shade if they want, bins for their waste and water bowls everywhere. Here they are allowed in the water too!!

Best places to eat with kids in Jesolo

Tempini – Open for lunch and dinner, Tempini do a great selection of typical Italian dishes, including pasta and pizza.

Dishes are always a good size and they offer a small kids’ menu too. High chairs are also available.

Here they make their own pasta in-house, so the pasta dishes are what I would recommend! You won’t leave hungry!

La Cambusa – Open for lunch and dinner in Piazza Milano, it offers a great selection of Italian dishes and their pizza is to die for!

It’s the beautiful thin crust pizza that melts in your mouth! It’s a firm favorite of mine and we go every week … now I don’t even have to say my order as I get asked “Il solito?” (the usual?) High chairs here are limited.

Chiar di luna – Open for lunch and dinner offers a wide range of fresh fish pasta dishes to yummy pizza.

Here they can also make baby pizza for your little ones! For my son, they make him a baby baby pizza.

Super kid friendly with high chairs available. Here I’d recommend the pizza or the fritto misto !

Where to stay in Jesolo with kids – Hotel recommendations

14km of hotels … you never run out of options!

J44 Lifestyle Hotel – (this is Michelles’ husband’s hotel)

A new and modern hotel concept in Jesolo, the J44 is an urban hotel and one of the more modern options in Jesolo, right in the center of the town, close to the beach.

The hotel is great for kids of all ages (and their parents!), it has rooms for up to 5 people and all the comforts you can ask for: a beachfront location, a restaurant and, on the 6th floor, a pool with bar for you to lounge in all day.

Breakfast starts from 7:30am until midday … so if you fancy a lie no need to rush! Or perhaps you’re traveling with your parents or in-laws and have convinced them to take the kids for a few hours, so why not indulge and book the private spa for three hours?

Private, secure underground parking is also available. Find info and prices >>> here <<<

Almar Hotel

Hotel Almar is a large resort hotel with 197 rooms, a crystal blue, 70mt swimming measuring 70metres and a private beach.

Breakfast starts at 7:30 am until 10:30am and includes Japanese, Chinese and Russian style breakfast. Parking is available.

Camping Mediterraneo

Not in Jesolo, but a stone’s throw away if you wanted something different to a hotel is Camping Mediterraneo.

Equipped for camping lovers or perhaps glamping lovers!

Based in the lush pine forest there is a seafront water park with seven pools, four of which are for children.

Also available is a wellness center, spa and swimming pool with solarium.

There is also a restaurant/pizzeria with 350 seats and an ice cream shop to delight the little ones after dinner!
