Motorboat hire Loch Lomond

Excellent idea - a great way to spend a couple of hours with the kids getting to drive the boat in the safety of the open water - weather typically Scottish so take a jacket and admire the views and the freedom of the loch - went for 2 hours but 3 would be better to allow time to explore the islands in loch as it takes over 40 minutes to get there from the base. Welcome and instructions all perfectly good - better map of how to get to the base would help - if you are at the large building near the loch (at Loch Lomond Shores retail part) it is towards the large boat - follow boat hire signs - wouldn't take very young kids but 5+yrs should be fine for a great adventure and experience

Thanks for the response. Maybe you'll come back again and spend some more time on the water.

Where do I start; the poor communication, the attitude of their staff or the broken boat! 24-hours prior to arrival we called to book and reserve our boat. All assurances were given that our day on the loch would go ahead smoothly. We packed a picnic, BBQ and set out for Loch Lomond to take our hire at their jetty. Things got worse from there. We were left waiting while their staff juggled the boat hire business with the coffee van adjacent. After 10 minutes we were told our booking was delayed by 2 hours because 50% of their fleet had broken down. We asked why no one had called us, given that they'd known for several hours about the broken boats, they responded by suggesting they were too busy (see coffee van adjacent) to do so and 'they didn't see my problem! I was advised to call their customer care line. I now know what a Postman feels like with an angry dog! Their care line was far from caring. Couldn't give a damn more like! After a game of blame shifting & shunning responsibility for poor communication, we eventually left for another hire company. Don't touch this lot. Seriously, Loch Lomond is a big body of water. If the customer service issues don't put you off, let their dodgy boats on that big open loch be your guiding thought!! Never again & be warned...,,

Thank you for the feedback, we are sorry your day didn't go as you had planned. Unfortunately we did have a number of breakdowns on the day that you had intended to hire. All of our boats are only one year old and as we take customer safety very seriously, we would never risk hiring a boat that has a defect. We have spoken as a team and have taken onboard your comments regarding communication. Our office staff have now had training on the water and at the hire station in order to better understand important customer issues and ultimately offer a better service. If you would like to re-book please get in touch.

Just back from a boat trip on Loch Lomond which was a good day out,.... once you get past the grump-head who shows you how drive the boat that is!! The "welcome" was far from welcoming. She looked like she wanted to be somewhere else and took it out on us that the summer has been crap. Rude is an under statement. On our return she was even worse. Do this, do that...without a smile, a thank you or "how was your trip? Did everything go alright? Did you enjoy it?....Nothing!! Grump Grump Hump! God help foreign tourists who turn up for this attraction. If I hadn't book and paid it weeks ago. I wouldn't have gone out! Anyway, we had paid, so we did. Two adults and two 13 year old boys. Off we went up the loch with a hint of sun but this was good for July in Scotland this year. On a two hour trip, we knew we wouldn't make it all the way up the loch and back, so we picked a small island 40 mins from the jetty. just to the right of the long island in front. We beached up, and had our picnic. The boys were off and explored the small island and had a ball. We then went to the beach on the long one and stopped there for a short while. The sun even came out again and it was a pleasant day on the loch. Two hours was maybe a bit short to do anything longer on the islands but all-in-all a good day....but almost spoilt by lack of customer service, or even a smile at the point of contact. Do I ask too much or should we employ better people for contact with the public???

Thanks for your report. I am glad you enjoyed your time on the water. Your comments regarding the service you received have been discussed with our hire team and we are re-addressing customer service. Thanks for booking with us.

Okay, so the weather was not particularly on our side when we went out, but as long as you are appropriately dressed you should have no problems. We bought group on vouchers for two boats which made the boat hire excellent value for money. My partner and I took one boat and our friends and their two small boys were in a second boat. The designated captains were given their instructions and we were off. We had a blast out on the water, the boats were in great condition and very easy to use. I would definitely hire a boat again, but hopefully on a nicer day so that we could take a picnic and perhaps hire for a full day so that we can explore the loch a bit more. A final shout-out for the man who was hiring the boats out. A really great guy, excellent customer service and fantastic with the two boys. Highly recommended!

Loch Lommond & The Trossachs National Park Logo

By boat, ferry, waterbus

Loch Cruises

No trip to Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park would be complete without a cruise across a loch. Sit back, relax and take in the beautiful and dramatic scenery. On Loch Lomond, opportunities to cruise the loch are available from Balloch (on the River Leven just opposite the railway station or from Loch Lomond Shores, and from Tarbet, Inversnaid, Luss and Rowardennan.

For trips on Loch Katrine  cruises run from Trossachs Pier near Aberfoyle, to Stronachlachar and back. Choose from circular cruises, or a number of themed journeys like sunset, island discovery, wildlife and history.

There’s also a short ferry from Balmaha to Inchcailloch  – a nature reserve with shady woodland walks, sandy beaches, wildlife and a history of saints and early Christianity. And speed boat trips if you fancied something faster, available from Luss Pier.

lomond-duchess-boat-on-loch

As well as the cruises, there’s a scheduled waterbus service providing regular ferry services between both shores of Loch Lomond at numerous disembarkation points – Inveruglas, Inversnaid, Tarbet, Rowardennan, Luss, Balmaha, and Balloch.

These services have been designed to provide visitors with the flexibility of combining trips on the loch, with breaks on shore – for lunch stops, picnics, pub visits, short (and long) walks, cycle routes (bring your bike or rent one locally), exploring local history (Rob Roy in particular) and wildlife, even bagging a Munro – or to tie-in with train stations (Balloch and Tarbet).

The waterbus service even stretches across two lochs – combining Lochs Lomond and Katrine, linking Tarbet and Trossachs Pier via Inversnaid and Stronachlachar – mind you’ll need to walk or cycle the 5 miles between the two lochs, twice!

If you fancy being captain of your own vessel, then why not hire a boat? Self-drive rentals are available from the lagoon at Loch Lomond Shores, while you can hire a speed boat complete with driver/guide at Luss Pier. Or power your own with row boats at Balmaha and canoes at Loch Lomond Shores.

Cheap car hire at Moscow Vnukovo airport

Top tips for hiring a car at moscow vnukovo airport.

  • Whether you’re visiting Moscow for a week or a month, getting a car rental at Moscow Vnukovo Airport (VKO) is the best way to explore the Russian capital. You’ll traverse various parts of the city that aren’t fully accessible by public transport. Self-driving lets you choose the shortest route to your destination and avoid traffic. Renting a car will save you money compared to using a taxi when you look at the overall costs to multiple destinations.
  • Collecting your rental car at Moscow Vnukovo Airport isn’t that complicated. You’ll find several local and international car rental suppliers at the airport with an on-site counter. Car rental desks at VKO are on the ground level in the Arrivals section, Terminal A. Once you get to the airport, head straight to your preferred company’s rental desk. You can also visit the rental desks after booking online. Make sure you carry all the requested documents. After processing, a staff member from the rental company will guide you to the pick-up point outside the terminal. Take your time to inspect the car for any dents or damages. Check the fuel level and make sure your maps are working and in your preferred language since most road signs in Moscow are in Russian.
  • The other benefit of getting a car rental at Moscow Vnukovo Airport is that you’ll have a smooth return process. Most rental companies will ask you to return the rental car to the exact location you collected it, or the drop-off point stated in your rental contract. What you should pay attention to is the return period. Make sure you return the car on time to avoid the late return penalty fee. You can inform the company early if you’re facing challenges and can’t return the rental car on time. After dropping off the vehicle, conduct a final inspection to check for damages before heading to your rental counter for clearance.
  • Moscow Vnukovo Airport usually gets busy between March to July when most tourists visit for the summer holidays. During this period, car rental bookings are generally high. You can experience long waits at the car rental counter. The airport also gets busy during weekends, special events, holidays, and major conferences in Moscow. We advise you to book in advance for availability and to save money since rates are comparatively pricey during the peak travel season.
  • Book your car hire at Moscow Vnukovo airport at least 4 weeks before your trip in order to get a below-average price
