Rafael Nadal’s New Custom 80 Sunreef Power Yacht Arrives in Mallorca

Rafael Nadal’s New Custom 80 Sunreef Power Yacht Arrives in Mallorca,

Launched last month at the Sunreef Yachts shipyard in Gdansk – Poland, the 80 Sunreef Power catamaran was officially handed over to her owner – Rafael Nadal in his hometown in Mallorca, last week.

One of the world’s top tennis players, Rafael Nadal, readily shares his passion for yachting, a love of which he has had since childhood. Before commissioning the 80 Sunreef Power , Rafael Nadal and his family spent their holidays chartering a Sunreef Yachts’ sailing catamaran.

This is an unforgettable event for our shipyard to hand over the yacht to such an amazing person and athlete as Rafael Nadal. My team in Gdańsk made every effort to create the yacht Rafa and his wife Maria dreamed of. I am convinced that they will have a great time with their friends and family on board.

Francis Lapp – President and Founder of Sunreef Yachts

The 80 Sunreef Power yacht ordered by Rafael Nadal is an ultramodern vessel created for long offshore cruising and featuring a living area of over 360 m2. This dynamic and elegant model combines comfort and exceptional seaworthiness.

The yacht has fully personalized interiors, including an impressive main deck saloon with access to the front terrace, an owner’s suite with an opening side balcony and luxurious guest cabins with en-suite bathrooms.

The whole interior is kept in bright elegant beige, cream and coffee colors. Among the yacht’s spectacular features is a spacious flybridge with bar, barbeque and relaxation area as well as a stern garage for jet ski. The yacht is equipped with twin 1200 HP engines.

Inside Rafael Nadal's 'Great White' Yacht

By: Scott Way

Sunreef 80 Power Rafael Nadal Great White

Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal has a new yacht and, to put it mildly, it's a real looker. Not just because it's from renowned builder Sunreef yachts, but because it's truly one of a kind. The Polish shipyard added an insane list of custom features in accordance with the wishes of Nadal and his wife Maria, both of whom were actively involved in the build process (they're also ambassadors for Sunreef as a result).

Some of those specialty features include Rafa's custom Nike logo on the big screen tv mounts in the salon (and there are three massive 77" in tv's, one of which is somehow waterproof), a dropdown terrace in the master suite that creates a water-level lookout at the foot of the king size bed, and a custom Heineken beer tap on the flybridge. The 'garage' is also accessible directly underneath the rear salon, where an electronic lift pulls back the stern lounge to reveal a jet ski, a SEABOB, and a surf foil. While Great White is by no means a small yacht, at 80 feet long it's shocking that it manages to pack 4,000 square feet of comfortable living space. She has a top speed of 24 knots (27 mph), which a cruising speed of 14 knots (16 mph).

Former F1 champ Nico Rosberg recently took a tour around Great White, and it's a great look at a masterfully built boat. Nadal is also a truly interesting and humble guy, and there are some good lessons for everyone.

Nadal mentions that the flybridge was recently damaged in a thunderstorm (of which he takes responsibility for encouraging the captain to take him out in bad weather), and I wish we could get the backstory on that. The tour doesn't seem to include the entire flybridge, so something is afoot there.

As for who has the best celebrity yacht, there may be some footitus going on. Tom Brady recently went up in size to a Wajer 77 , and Nadal matched the length of Michael Jordan's 80-foot Viking sportfishing yacht Catch 23 . Length doesn't always tell the full story, though. NBA champ Klay Thompson rides around in a measly 37-foot fishing boat, but it's an Axopar 37 Cabin , so he gets some slack. And Conor McGregor's tiny 63-foot boat doesn't match up with the big boys either, but it's literally a Lamborghini boat , so he gets a pass. If we are judging length (and let's be honest, some of us will), Tony Parker reigns supreme with a 115-foot expedition yacht .

Check out Nadal and Rosberg exploring Great White in the video below:

Q&A: On board with Rafael Nadal, tennis ace and owner of Beethoven

How does one of the world's greatest ever tennis players relax after he’s left the court? Now we know after sitting down with Rafael Nadal, one of only eight men in history to win all four Grand Slam events. And not just once – he’s won the French Open a record 10 times.

Every chance he gets, Nadal heads to Mallorca , his home island, to rendezvous with Beethoven , his new Monte Carlo Yachts 76. Bought a year ago from the shipyard based in Monfalcone, Italy, Nadal has spent a year getting to know his new yacht, cruising the waters of the Balearics to unwind from the intense pressure of the professional tour.

Here, he tells us how boating makes him feel “free”, what he does first thing in the morning when on board, and reveals a level of superyachting knowledge that left us deeply impressed…

What are your first memories of being on the water?

I don’t remember the first but I have a lot of great memories being with my family and friends, spending days on the water around Mallorca, and crossing to Menorca and coming back the same day.

Growing up in the Balearics, do you think you were always destined to love the sea?

Well, that’s my world. I have always lived near the coast, between Manacor and Porto Cristo. My father, ever since I was a kid, had a small boat and I loved to go out with the boat and dive. Every time I have the chance, I come back to Mallorca and get on the water. I have always loved the feeling of adventure a boat offers you. You feel free.

You’ve owned Beethoven, your Monte Carlo Yachts 76, for a year now. What were you looking for in a boat?

I visited a lot of different yachts, and the MCY 76 seemed perfect for the kind of life I like to lead on board. The use of space is different and unbelievable. The main saloon is totally open and not like other boats where there is a living area, then a closed galley and a separate helm position. I like the fact that I can sit in the saloon and see out the front; it makes the boat feel bigger. The aft cockpit, too, feels bigger than on other yachts in the class. The same goes for the flybridge. I love the exterior, of course, but the interior is also very important because it’s like a house for me. Even if I am staying in Porto Cristo, I sometimes come on board and live here.

Did you make any specific customisation requests?

I changed the main saloon a little bit, and opted to move the galley to the lower deck. I added an extra sofa at the back of the saloon in place of the standard dining table. With the doors open, it’s a great place to sit and you really feel in touch with the water. You only use an interior dining table in winter; in summer, you can eat on the aft deck, up on the flybridge or on the bow. [For] when we do want to eat inside, I had a removable table inserted. I spent a lot of time thinking about this solution, which also means we can swing the TV out and watch it from the aft cockpit. After dinner, if the weather is good, I like to stay outside and watch TV. I think this is perfect.

Have you owned boats previously?

We have a Riviera, which we use for fishing. My father uses it the most. Before the MCY 76 I had a Princess V62. I enjoyed that boat, but this is another step up.

How do you use the boat?

Lots of different ways. Even in the winter, for example, I finish training at three in the afternoon and I say “OK, I’ve done enough”. I check the weather and if the conditions are good I say to my captain “Let’s go!” and we spend the afternoon on the water. I put my neoprene on and go snorkelling in the bay, I have dinner and sleep on board. The next day, early in the morning, I come back to port and head to training. I do that a lot. When I have more time I love to go for whole weekends or even for a whole week. But I’ve only had the chance to do this once or twice.

Do you bring other tennis players on board?

Andy Murray came and used the boat with his team for a few days, but I wasn’t on board. I have been on board with Feliciano López, Marc López, David Ferrer and Juan Mónaco. A lot of the Spanish players come here to practise and we always go out on the boat. I was with the footballer Fernando Llorente on the boat last week. Everybody who comes on board is always very happy.

Have you got a favourite corner of the boat?

It depends on the time of day. I love the flybridge – the views are fantastic. The bow lounge is amazing, too. When I bought the boat I wondered about installing some handrails around this area, but the yard told me: “You can do it if you like but we don’t believe it’s necessary.” They were right – you don’t feel like you might fall off. I like to relax here when it is not too warm during the day.

Do you use a captain, or helm yourself?

I have a captain. I need a captain, since I am not here all the time. My captain is a great friend, ever since I was a kid. When I come home and sometimes my friends are working, my family is working, my girlfriend has to work, I just go out with my captain. I don’t have the licence but when I’m there with the captain I do like to drive the boat. In fact, I love it.

Do you keep a lot of toys on board?

I don’t have a lot of water toys. I have a Williams tender and I used to have a jet ski too, but I don’t have it any more. The first time I was cruising, I was travelling with the Williams and the jet ski and, at the end of the day, the jet ski was bothering me. I am simple – some water toys are great but I simply just get tired of them.

What are your favourite cruising grounds?

Normally I stay between Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, Cabrera... all around the Balearics. You have to watch the weather around here, however; conditions can change quickly. Last year we were coming back from Ibiza and we had very, very rough conditions for an hour and a half. The waves were coming over the boat, but I was happy to be out in those conditions and see how well the boat reacted.

What are your cruising tips for the Balearics?

In Mallorca I think there are two kinds of places. On the west side we have the mountains, Serra de Tramuntana, which are amazingly beautiful, but it’s true that there are not many beaches. On the east coast it’s much flatter and there are lots of beaches. I like both things. For restaurants, I love Sa Punta. It’s close to my house, about 15 minutes away, close to Costa de los Pinos. In Puerto Portals I love Restaurant Flanigan.

What constitutes your cruising wardrobe?

When I am on the boat I am not worried about what to wear, especially during the summer. If I go out for a couple of days, I take a few things from my house to wear to dinner. But during the day I wear swim shorts and a T-shirt, or just the swim shorts. When you want to be comfortable, you don’t worry about what to wear.

As someone with a high-pressure, high-profile sporting career, how does yachting help you mentally and physically?

I don’t think it helps much physically. The only thing that I can tell you is that, because I have a yacht, I am able to forget about everything and get away from that tiring stress. Doing things that I love to do and enjoying those two days snorkeling, or spending time with friends, or playing, going out with the boat and visiting places, walking through the mountains. I love that. When I wake up in the morning, the first thing I do is get in the water, then come back and have breakfast in an unbelievably beautiful place. That’s something that, without a doubt, helps me return to the world with more energy.

Have you spent much time on superyachts?

I don’t spend too much time on superyachts, but I do have a real passion for them. It is rare that I see a superyacht from a distance and I don’t know its name. I know them all! In 2012 I had the chance to visit the Costa Smeralda on Larry Ellison’s yacht Senses . I adore him, he was unbelievably kind. We spent eight, nine days there. It was an amazing experience, one of the best ever. I also spent a week on a 56 metre Perini once. I also visit a lot of superyachts, but it would be stupid for me to buy one at the moment. I could not keep it here in my home port, and I don’t have the time. In a bigger boat, everything is a little more complicated, so it’s simply not the right moment for me.

Have you got a single favourite memory of being on board?

I remember a holiday I had in the northern part of Mallorca, up to the north of Serra de Tramuntana. It was just before the summer. There was nobody there and the water was fantastic. The season was almost starting and I went all around the island for two days after coming back from the Miami Open. It was incredible.

Rafael Nadal, thank you.

Incredible super yacht sums up Rafael Nadal’s next-level life of luxury

Rafael Nadal's yacht is something to behold.

Rafael Nadal has created his own slice of tennis history.

The Spanish legend, 35, claimed a record 21st grand slam title after d efeating Daniil Medvedev in the Australian Open final on Sunday.

But as The Sun reports, off the court, Nadal lives a life of luxury generated by the huge sums of money he has earned from being an ace on it. The tennis star has made a whopping $AUD285 million during his illustrious career, with more to come after his epic win Down Under.

He lives in a stunning beachfront Majorcan mansion, which he paid around $5.7 million for in 2013. The Real Madrid super fan also splashed some cash on a private jet — a Cessna Citation CJ2+ that cost $9.5 million and flies him to tournaments around the globe.

Nadal can also travel by sea in his stunning $8.5 million 80 Sunreef Power catamaran, a super yacht he had custom-made.

He has had insurance worker Maria Francisca Perello by his side throughout his success, with the pair finally marrying in 2019 after 14 years together.

By land and by sea

Back in 2019, Nadal traded in one yacht for another. He sold his 76-foot Italian-built MCY 76 motor yacht he called Beethoven for a cool $3.8 million. Then, he put that money towards buying his amazing customised 80 Sunreef Power catamaran.

Built for long cruises and not skimping on full comfort, the 80 Sunreef Power is powered by two 1,200 horsepower engines.

It has a personal jet ski garage and a 12m beam with a superyacht-style flybridge that offers a vast living space big enough to house a hot tub, a bar and waterfall-fed pool.

The main deck can be set up in a variety of ways, dependent on your dining needs with different seating, an open plan kitchen and a bar.

The master suite, which is also on the main deck, offers sea views, as well as natural light thanks to the skylight overhead. It has an ensuite bathroom with a shower, a spacious closet and a desk.

There are four guest cabins and two crew cabins, with up to 12 guests able to be accommodated at one time.

The yacht also has an eight-person dining table and two large-screen TVs that measure 195cm each.

Nadal has always had an affiliation with the ocean. “As someone from an island as I am, the sea is part of our lives and it’s not a secret that I love the sea,” he said in a statement after acquiring the yacht.

“Every time I am at home in Mallorca I try to go out and find that time where I can just enjoy my time on a boat.”

A home with a view

Although Nadal likes to remain private, like many professional athletes he gave us a glimpse into his amazing home in the Balearic Islands, off the east coast of Spain, during lockdown in 2020.

Found in Porto Cristo, Manacor, he paid $5.7 million for the stunning beach property that spans just over 1000 square metres. It was reported Nadal spent seven years renovating the mansion and pulled down some of the buildings before it became a dream place to live.

The design, from what his followers were shown on Instagram, is minimalist with all the essentials Nadal needs.

He has a fully-equipped gym to keep on top of his fitness while in his downtime, he can enjoy views of the Mediterranean Sea and idyllic coves from his window.

Time to fly

It’s amazing to think that in 2010, Nadal tried to get on an economy flight to the Match for Africa until rival Roger Federer gave him a lift in his private jet.

Not wanting to get stuck again, the 13-time French Open winner decided to buy his own plane - a Cessna Citation CJ2+. Only 223 of the jets were made and it costs around $400,000 per-year to maintain, accommodating eight passengers in luxury.

Sharing his life

Despite spending most of his time travelling around the world, the one constant in his life is wife Maria, 33. Better known as Xisca Perello, she has never been one to hog the limelight or a celebrity lifestyle.

“It’s not a world I want to be part of, nor do I think Rafa would have chosen to be with a woman who looked for that in life,” she once said.

They met in the early 2000s and were firm friends before they started dating in 2005. They married in 2019 in a star-studded ceremony in front of around 350 guests at the La Fortaleza castle in Majorca.

Celebrities in tow to watch the couple’s nuptials included actors Tom Hiddleston, Olivia Colman and Hugh Laurie. But you’ll rarely see her on the circuit cheering Rafael on.

“He needs his space when he is competing, and just the idea of me hanging around and waiting on his needs all day tires me out,” she told The Telegraph in 2011.

“It would asphyxiate me. And then he would have to be worrying about me … No. If I followed him everywhere, I think there’s a risk we might stop getting along.”

Rafael Nadal

Rafael Nadal’s New Yacht Is Worth $5 Million

Professional tennis might not be the first sport people think about when it comes to multi-millionaire athletes. However, when somebody has the nearly two-decade run of success that Nadal has had, they get paid handsomely to do so. One of  the winningest players in history , Nadal knows how to enjoy the fruits of his success. Nothing quite encapsulates this like his  multi-million dollar yacht .

Nadal takes the court

Born in a small island community in Spain, Nadal picked up a tennis racket  early . By the time he was eight years old, Nadal was already dominating the youth circuit, winning a tennis championship for the under-12 division. By 12 years old, he was a champion in his age bracket. Then, at just 15 years of age, Nadal was a professional on the ITF junior circuit.

Everything was looking up for the young superstar who was not yet old enough to vote in many countries. At just 19 years of age, Nadal won the first of what would be many French opens, and the world was on notice. While the French Open would prove to be the superstar’s best event, he had a career grand slam by the time he was just 24.

Now, ten years later, Nadal might be playing the best tennis of his career. He recently capped off the 2020 French Open with his 13th victory at the event, his 20th Grand Slam overall. At 34 years of age, he is part of the three-headed monster with Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer, who has made a habit of whooping down the rest of the competition.

With nearly $120 million in tennis earnings alone, Nadal is living large in more ways than one.

What is Nadal’s net worth?

Aside from his career earnings, Nadal has hefty endorsement deals from Nike, Kia, Lanvin cologne, and several other giant companies from all over the world. As such, his salary away from tennis isn’t too shabby either. While he might not have the empire that friend and rival Roger Federer has,  his roughly $200 million net worth  shows that he’s at no risk of going bankrupt any time soon.

From six-figure watches to his investment in tennis centers across the world, Nadal knows how to flaunt his money while also doing good for his community in the process, according to Business Insider . With that much income, however, he knows how to splurge on the things he wants. From lavish vacations to high-end fashion, Nadal is living large.

His most impressive investment, however, might be the $5 million yacht.

Nadal’s yacht

According to Forbes , the Sunreef 80 Power 2019 Yacht that Nadal purchased wasn’t just a spur-of-the-moment splurge. The tennis great sunk a lot of time and money to ensure that it was precisely what he wants it to be. It’s an 80-foot boat with more features than the average house, two 1,200 hp engines, and a 4,000 square foot living space inside.

The coffee-colored interior echoes Nadal’s fashion sense, and with four guest quarters, it can also be a vessel for entertainment. A flybridge, a wet bar, a barbecue, and a relaxation area help Nadal unwind, while the built-in jet skis in the garage down below help him feed his adventurous side, as well. Sometimes, Nadal wants to explore the world beneath the boat, so the snorkeling equipment comes in handy for this itch.

It should come as no surprise that the man born on a Spanish island has a seafaring streak to him, and this yacht might best encapsulate this side. While tennis players have to devote countless hours to reach the top, those  who do are rewarded greatly . Nadal has earned his yacht, watches, and charitable causes because he is one of the best to do it. When he isn’t playing, however, he can wind down on his luxurious Sunreef Yacht.

MCY 76 yacht Rafael Nadal

Tennis superstar Rafael Nadal is hoping to “net” a cool $3 million for his much-loved 76-foot motor yacht he calls Beethoven after his love for classical music.

The Spaniard has just listed the Italian-built MCY 76 that he bought new in 2016 with European broker Camper & Nicholsons .

Built by Trieste-based Monte Carlo Yachts —part of the French Beneteau group—Nadal’s MCY 76 was designed inside and out by acclaimed Venetian naval-architect firm Nuvolari Lenard. Powered by twin MAN 1,400 hp V-12s, Beethoven has a top speed of 31 knots and cruises happily at 26.

Listed for 2.6 million euros, or $2.96 million, the yacht is described as being in mint condition, with low engine hours and all taxes paid.

Longtime yachtsman Nadal, 33, has certainly had plenty of use from the stunning, deep-blue-hulled power yacht. Over the past three years he’s been a regular fixture of social media and gossip columns, often snapped soaking up rays while cruising the Balearic island of Mallorca where he calls home.

Nadal recently told Yachting magazine that Beethoven was key to helping him relax from constant traveling: “Being on board the MCY 76 gives me the chance to get away when I want to get away. I have the boat one minute from my house by car, so in any moment I feel free to say okay, I’ll go and come back tomorrow. That gives me the possibility to relax.”

He says he decided on the MCY 76 after a visit to the Cannes boat show in 2013. Previously owning a Princess V62, Nadal wanted a boat with more space and a sleeker, more sporty, more modern design.

Working with Nuvolari Lenard, the 18-time Grand Slam winner commissioned Beethoven with that head-turning deep Mediterranean-blue hull color and white topsides, along with a carbon-fiber flybridge hardtop with retractable sunroof.

Inside, he selected a four-stateroom layout with a full-beam master suite and angled bed, a forward VIP and two twins. Not to rock the boat, he picked muted shades for the upholstery with lots of grays and soft beiges.

One feature the tennis star was firm on: lots of retractable TVs. As he told Yachting : “I sometimes come on board and live here, so I like to be on a sofa and watching TV in comfort. With the home cinema and two TVs, it is unbelievable for me.”

There’s no word as to what ‘Rafa’ plans to do when Beethoven sells. What’s unlikely is that he’ll step up to a much bigger yacht. Seems his home port of Porto Cristo on Mallorca’s southeast coast can only accommodate yachts up to 25 meters, or 82 feet.

Don’t be surprised then if Nadal turns up in Porto Cristo in one of Monte Carlo Yachts’ brand-new MCY 80 yachts—perfect at 24.62 meters (80 feet).
