What is a Yacht crew Agency?

Basically, a crew agency has a database of crew with a network of Yachts, Captains and employers. When a yacht is seeking a deckhand or Stewardess to start on board, they will contact the crew agency.The agency will then send a few candidates that match the job description and requirements of the Yacht and contact and interview the crew member before doing so. When you sign up for a crew agency they will:

• Need all your personal details for the registration process
• Need an up-to-date CV
• 3 Written Reference letters from past employers
• All your STCW Certificates, Medical ENG1 and Passport along with other certificates for the position.
• This is required to comply with MLC 2006

Are Crew Agencies Free to use?

  As per MLC 2006 all crew recruitment services should be free for crew to use. So, if you are crew seeking a Yacht job, you should be able to sign up and register as well as get placed on board with 0 fees.

The Crew recruitment agency will charge the employer or the Yacht that is seeking the crew, and this fee is paid after you secure your position by the Yacht.

The fee is usually ranging for the equivalent amount of 1 monthly salary as per your contract, but again this is paid by the Yacht.

  Are there any crew recruitment services that are 100% free for everyone?
