We were a group of 8 adults and 2 small children ( ages 4 and 1 ) and this was the perfect trip. The entire crew was excellent! The sailing was steady, the views beautiful, the lunch and drinks delicious, and the swimming and snorkeling in crystal clear turquoise waters amazing! There was plenty of time to enjoy each part of the trip, very fun and relaxing!
Sailing, swimming, and snorkeling fun!
One of the best day’s in Puerto Rico, ever! This excursion is affordable, fun and it was an amazing experience! Went to Icacos Island and snorkeling nearby. The staff was awesome and it felt safe and fun at the same time. (open bar and buffet) was awesome. I definitely high recommend!!
Excellent Excursion
This catamaran trip was AWESOME! One of the best things I’ve experienced vacationing in Puerto Rico. First of all I want to thank Jorge one of the crew members for making this trip a great experience, he made sure my family and I had food, drinks and was very informative on the sights. Thank you for helping make great memories!
catamaran trip was AWESOME!
This was my second excursion with East Island Excursions and they did it again! We were a family of four (with a 5 yr old). Fun was had by all…I could not keep my 5 year old off the water-slide 🙂 Food was great and a great atmosphere.
Did it again!
Took the Icacos Island tour with East Island Excursions. Loved every bit of the tour. Truly professional, friendly and helpful crew. The places we were taken to were exotic and I just loved it . My phone which had most of the pics and memories got drenched in the sea water and died and Levi one of the member of the crew member truly felt our anxiety took pictures for us and sent it later . Wonderful guy. I am not a swimmer but took the plunge with the help of Moises from the crew team . I would recommend East Island Excursions and Levi to anyone visiting Puerto Rico and taking the Island tours
Loved the Icacos Island tour with East Island Excursions
Loved our visit to Icacos with East Island Excursions. Originally we had booked for Vieques, but due to weather, we could not go there. East Island was very prompt in calling us every day and giving us an update. In the end, they even offered to shift us to Icacos on priority and refunded the balance amount. Their boats are amazing and look luxurious. The staff is insanely friendly, offer great food and drinks and snorkeling tips. Had a lovely time with East Island. Will definitely try Vieques tour with them next time I am in San Juan.
Great tour company, especially for Snorkelling
This was a family trip that we all enjoyed, but must of all, I loved the crew, excellent customer service…. constantly taking care of every customer…. Thanks so much from the family Quijada-Morales to: Alexandra, Ismael, Moises & I cant remember the name of the 4th crew member… you all were great & made our experience unforgettable….excellent service…. Keep up with the great service guys, & definitely we will return back to one of your trips on our next vacation to Puerto Rico…. we are from Atlanta, GA…..sm
Unforgettable Trip to Icacos
This is my second time in two years traveling with East Island Excursions – and they really do a great job! You will NOT be disappointed. They are very easy to make reservations with and they call with reminders, The staff is extremely friendly, the boat clean and the overall experience is amazing. There are two stops – one at Icacos Island and another at another site where the coral is. You will see a bunch of beautiful things! And the water is amazingly crystal blue . You’ll arrive around 9am to check in, leave at 9:30am and be back at the dock around 3:30 pm. A great activity for all ages – my family thoroughly enjoyed. They serve you food and rum drinks too! Just an overall great time!
We took 2 tours with East Island–snorkeling and the Amazing Grace. Highly recommend this company. Classy. Everything done well.
Visiting from Chicago. By all means the highlight of our Vacation. Wow, we had the best time. We booked a snorkeling trip to the Island of Icacos Catamaran Full Day trip. The boat was beautiful, the crew was so friendly and helpful! The captain “William” mingled with everyone and took time to make sure everyone was having a great time. The bartender/cook/organizer Chris was very informative and kept everyone’s attention with important information so as to keep everyone safe and having a great time. The food was a delightful surprise. These guys have it down to a science, Excellent food music and ambiance. This is a must do for the entire family. Will definitely do this again! Love these guys!
2017 Puerto Rico Vacay
Amazing trip to the Icacos island. Even thou it was raining we were still able to enjoy the crystal blue water. The captain and crew are really organized and always on the look out for the well being of the people. Thank you to Capt. William, Daniel, Christian, Neftali and others for your excellent customer service. Thanks to your professionalism during the trip me, my best friend and the kids had a superb experience at Icacos.
Trip to Icacos
I was so glad we got to experience snorkeling like this when we were in Puerto Rico. East lsland excursions was a great company to book with. It was an all day adventure and they provide lunch and service unlimited alcoholic drinks. The crew on the boat was great very friendly and knowledge. Our captain was Ty and he did an amazing job informing us about the water, different sea animals and islands that we past. The gear that they provided was clean and looked new, the boat was kept clean as well. I definitely recommend booking a tour through them for a great experience just remember to bring your sunblock and keep reapplying because we got sun burnt.
Snorkeling fun
Great time at Cayo Icacos. Willy was the best snorkeling guide I’ve ever had and I’ve been to every reef in DR. Great job Willy & Carlos. you guys are awesome.
Cayo Icacos
This is by far the most fulfilling activity I did while in PR. This excursion handles everything you need from food, to drinks and location. First stop is snorkeling and the crew were helpful in explaining all safety concerns, for us and the environment. They served us an incredible lunch complete with pina coladas to refresh from the heat. The 2nd stop was a relaxing beach and they gave us ample time to really enjoy the water and take pictures. I would without a doubt book this trip again and can’t wait to visit 🙂

Barefoot Catamaran To Icacos Island
One of the most memorable experiences I had with my family while in Puerto Rico! The Castillo crew was AMAZING, they even helped and encouraged my step son to get into the water and snorkle when he was uneasy. Good music, great drinks, great lunch (nothing beats pan de agua sandwiches!). Icacos Island is a beautiful location: the water is crystal clear, the wildlife is stunning. I made memories that day that I will never forget. Thank you, Castillo, for making my first PR trip with my family an amazing experience!
Thank you for the fabulous review, we very much appreciate your kind words but even better that you made ever lasting Memories . We work had and it is great to read that what a amazing time your Family had. Thank you for sharing and spending the day with us
Over all great time everyone is very friendly and we had the best time. We did 3 tours with them and everything went smooth and they were on time with pick ups and give us extra information on where to go and where to explore
We are thrilled that you enjoyed your Excursions .Thank you for praising our staff, they work hard to make each experience memorable. We look forward to welcome you back for us to create another great vacation in the enchanted Island of Puerto Rico.
What a fun experience - history and drinks! It's a jam-packed day (so bring lunch or snacks to tie you over). I learned so much about the history of rum and how the Bacardi brand came to be at Casa Bacardi. Great atmosphere, lovely drinks, and a commemorative cup to boot! Can't beat that. The Old San Juan Tour was also wonderful. Our guide, Ricky Ricardo, was funny, knowledgeable, and engaging with our group. We visited the fort Castillo San Cristobal and then the city Old San Juan for a little shopping. Recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes. There is enough time at each stop to take pictures and take in the scenery but because we didn't know it would be about 7 hours so many of the other travelers didn't complete the entire tour because they were starving. My group chose to use our shopping time to eat before we were dropped off at our hotel. This tour did not disappoint. Highly recommend.
We had a wonderful experience at the Catamaran the crew was very friendly service oriented Good Food!! excellent Weather!! Tina helped Us find space
Thank you for the fabulous review, we very much appreciate your kind words. We work hard to deliver a memorable experience and it is great to read your comments. Looking forward to welcome you back in the near future for another Family get together
Just went on the snorkeling and a picnic tour with my wife. Couldn’t have asked for a better crew. The captin Tito and his crew were professional and fun. They were on schedule, made us a delicious lunch after the first snorkel (at a beautiful beach), then a fresh fruit salad after the second snorkel, and to top it all off kept us laughing the whole time. Great way to spend your morning/afternoon. Saw lots of colorful fish, an octopus, a flounder, huge lobster, sting ray, sea turtle, puffer fish, and some on this trip.
Thank you for the fabulous review, we very much appreciate your kind words but even better that you saw all of this Sea life.I am pretty sure many snorklers just swam by and didn't notice. It's a different world once you put your Mask on and explore.Hope to see you again on your next trip to the enchanted Island
We were Supposed to be picked up at 7:15 AM, but because another party was not notified of a time change, we had to wait over a 1/2 hour to be picked up. Upon arrival at the destination, we checked in and started to board the boat a few minutes later. The dock was in disrepair and very old. The head of a large nail was sticking out and the one board was loose. I pointed this out to one of the crew members and they promptly fixed it. The water where the boat was moored looked more like an open septic system, then a harbor. There was a strong odor as we left and reentered the harbor. There was an issue with one of the Yamaha motors that the Captain and crew tried to fix, but were unable to, so we ran on 1 motor on our way out and back in. They take you to two beaches, but I the first beach was a little crowded with other boats and we anchored next to a roped off swimming hole. Snorkeling was available, but it wasn't very good. We went to the 2nd destination and we were anchored off of a privately owned island, so no one was allowed to go on the beach. The snorkeling was good and there was a nice variety of fish. The snorkeling equipment on board was marginal. My wife and I have snorkeled a lot and we both had issues with our masks. We were both given different masks. My wife's mask was fine, but my snorkel slipped out and floated to the ocean floor. It was not secured properly. After a couple of attempts, I was able to swim down about 20-25 feet and retrieve the snorkel. The crew was okay, but the food and the end of the trip was very good. Good drinks too!
I am sorry, that you had to wait for the bus to arrive. But I informed everybody about the delay and everybody was fine with that. You are pointing out some negative things that we really do not have control of. There is a problem with seaweed in the Caribbean and it gets accumulated in the little Coves in Fajardo which you probably smelled. We first go to Icacos Island and then in the afternoon to another Reef. We do not advertise that we go to 2 different Islands.I am happy that you enjoyed the snorkeling and liked our Picnic Lunch and drinks, which is what our trip is all about.

Very enjoyable! Carlos, our guide, was excellent! He was so knowledgable, informative, nice, patient and loved sharing his culture. He was an excellent driver and very personable. He even stopped at a local place for lunch before leaving the forest that we didn't expect. What a treat!

Thank you Mel B. So happy you got to enjoy the day on our sailing catamaran a to Icacos. Thanks for sharing your day aboard with us. Looking forward to seeing you guys soon.
Took the boat to Culebra. Was a sped boat and your trip Is over an hour there. Thank God for the blue puke bags! But the crew were nice and helpful, constantly asking how you are feeling. The only thing they don't tell you is the boat doesn't dock, you have to swim to shore, which was fine but you need a waterproof bag and phone case. Overall, nice experience.
Sail Getaway was amazing! We did the snorkeling tour for Culebra. The snorkeling spot was great and we saw lots of coral, fish, and even a string ray. Flamenco Beach is breathtaking, the water is the prettiest blue I've ever seen. The crew is what we say "son buena gente!" We loved the crew and they did a great job serving us drinks, answering questions we had, and keeping everyone safe. Captain Robert, Yamil, Lowrra (Laura) , and another person's name that I can't remember were the best crew ever. When you are in Puerto Rico and want an amazing time snorkeling, go with Sail Getaway. It's worth every penny.
Very breath taking first time experience. This is a must activity when visiting the island. The crew is awesome and very polite. Can't wait to do it all over again.
We took the three-in-one catamaran getaway on New Year's Day with Omar and Arturo. Our group was 2 adults a 9 year old and a 5 year old. All of us had an amazing time. Omar and Arturo were awesome sailors/hosts/guides making sure they got us to Icacos safely for snorkeling, answered all our questions, taught us about Puerto Rico and even served us delicious drinks and snacks. A really beautiful afternoon/evening with super friendly guides, Omar and Arturo. Highly reccomend this tour.

The drive to Fajardo and Villa Marina is a 45 minute trip for the San Juan area. Once you get there you are greeted by Captain Dook and his staff. The adventure begins and depending on the tour of your choosing you should be in paradise in about an hour. We chose the Icacos Key and Tortuga Reef tour. We got to Icacos in about 45 minutes and immediately hit the water, which I must say was a dream! Cristaline and mesmerazing turquoise waters make you feel you are in beach lovers heaven. While you enjoy the beach, Captain Dook sets lunch, which consists of a buffet style table, with chicken & tuna salad, cheese, hams, breads, fruit salad, and unlimited sodas, water and cocktails (virgin or not), among many others. After lunch, you are allowed to enjoy Icacos for another hour before sailing to Tortuga Reef. Catamaran Getaway Tours supplies all the snorkling equipment required to enjoy the beautiful and breathtaking Tortuga Reef. We even saw stingrays! You will have approximately 2 hours to enjoy snorkling, and if you choose, you can also rest on the catamaran's deck. The trip back to the marina is another 45 minutes. Captain Dook and his staff were extremely attentive and accommodating. The price includes lunch, unlimited drinks and the snorkling equipment. Make sure you take your dramamine, just in case. Definitely a must do while in Puerto Rico.
Jeffrey and Omar were the best captains ever !! The boat was super clean abd the lunch they served was simple but delicious! Amazing views and your! Definitely booking with them again!
Wonderful day sailing to Icacos with a great group of 26. Captain Omar was a lot of fun and very helpful. The lunch on the boat was better than expected, I was happily surprised and would definitely book with them again!
First time in Puerto Rico and this tour is a must. The crew of the Traveler boat were very knowledgeable of the area, friendly to visitors, and great staff for the boat. The views are incredible and if the weather plays nicely, you'll get to experience amazing waters and marine life.

Puerto Rico has many beaches, but if you want to snorkel, get outside the city of San Juan and travel to one of many coral reefs, for example at Icacos Island. Castillo Tours provides one such trip, via catamaran.
It’s an all-day tour that began with a van pick up for us and other tourists from metro San Juan, taking us an hour east to a launch. Our driver, Frances, was professional, but did not point out landmarks or give a long talk on the history of Puerto Rico on the drive, or join us on the boat. So in this case, Castillo acted as a taxi service taking us to Barefoot Catamaran, which ran the rest of the tour.
We took many tours in Puerto Rico, and this was more a college party trip than others, with mostly younger people instead of families, but it didn’t get too wild. The trip out on the catamaran was beautiful, especially when they switched off the motor and we just sailed. They allowed us to climb up top and sun ourselves on the ship’s forward netting, feeling the rush of the wind. Unfortunately, upbeat music made it difficult to have a conversation. The trip felt crowded with the 30+ guests on the boat, but took just 30 minutes before we arrived at a beautiful Icacos Island.
I was surprised that, upon arriving at the shore, that the captain chose a beach directly next to another tourist boat, instead of a more private spot, but we had great fun on the beach and playing around in the water swimming.
Then we left to anchor next to a beautiful coral reef. Many of the guests and I put on snorkel gear and fins, and swam out to observe. Wonderfully, there was an aquarium level of ocean life there, packed with fish to observe. Unfortunately, the water was just too choppy to see them for more than a few seconds. It was difficult to swim and maneuver against the waves, which weren’t fierce but just not comfortable for snorkeling. Water kept rushing into my snorkel’s air hose, and I got pushed around, including into a coral reef, scraping myself. Others got scraped too, I noticed. Within 15 minutes, everyone who had gotten off the boat was back on it. We were too far from shore to comfortably swim to it.
Under better weather conditions, the snorkeling must be fantastic.
Although the water was not right for snorkeling, and every guest had given up, returning to the boat, the crew seemed resigned to stick to the schedule. It’s not Barefoot’s fault, or Castillo’s fault, that the weather made for choppy waves that day. But I was disappointed that we weren’t warned. The website says they will cancel due to bad weather or sea conditions. Then I was further disappointed that the crew chose to push through instead of to adapt. I suggested moving to a beach, but was told, well, the people paid for snorkeling, so this is it. The college students didn’t seem to mind, instead making a party of the loud music on the crowded boat. To me this seemed at odds with the natural beauty of the place, which could have been contemplated in stillness, but maybe I’m just an old fart who took the wrong tour.
Meanwhile, the crew served a decent lunch of cold cuts and sandwiches, then later fruit, pineapple, oranges, cookies, and drinks including some with alcohol. Eventually we sailed back to the landing and drove back in the van to San Juan.
It wasn’t a bad tour, but we could have gone to any beach in San Juan and gotten a similar experience, with more elbow room and without the travel. The guides at Castillo and Barefoot didn’t educate us or befriend us. The website says that the crew gives snorkeling lessons, but I didn’t seem them educating anyone, and they didn’t get into the water to help. They seemed unconcerned about those who couldn’t swim, giving floatation belts to them.
For us it was a 3.5-star experience, but let’s assume the best. If you confirm good waves and weather — you must cancel 48 hours in advance for a refund, but can reschedule with merely 24 hours’ notice — I feel I can give Castillo Tours and Barefoot Catamaran 4 stars for the catamaran tour to Icacos Island. And if you prefer a party atmosphere to intimate communing with nature, it would be higher.
