The separate throttle and transmission controls were replaced with an electronic Glendinning single throttle with sync and docking modes. Also added was a joystick control for docking. Given that the original electric bow and stern thrusters thermally shut off after 30 sec. of continuous run, this was not suitable for joystick maneuvering. Both bow and thruster stern thrusters were upgraded to 24-volt long run time (10 min continuous run) Vetus thrusters. The 24V battery system has its own 24V charging system. The original thruster controller was replaced with a dual joystick design for easier use. Mast Two KVH TV3 satellite domes are mounted on each side of the mast which provide 4K TV. A third dome is a KVH LTE1 which allows for up to 25 miles offshore internet connection. Also on the mast is the latest Garmin Fantom Doppler radar with 6’ open array antenna. GPS, Sirius weather and AIS equipment is also mast mounted. The mast can be illuminated at night with white, red or blue light. All electronics were replaced with two Garmin chart plotters and a Garmin Reactor autopilot with an electronic compass. Analog tachs were replaced with Aetna digital tachs. Analog engine gauges were replaced with digital LCD display screens. The radar is the latest Garmin 6' open array Fantom Doppler radar. A fully articulating FLIR night vision camera system has also been added. The original Bennett trim tabs were replaced with Zipwake interceptors which utilize a built-in GPS to set them for maximum performance, at the helm is the interceptor LCD controller. The vessel has a Garmin AIS with an emergency button. VHF Garmin radio is new. Sirius weather antenna is on the mast. For real-time weather (wind speed, direction, and other parameters) an Airmar solid-state weather station is on the top of the mast. Weather is displayed on an additional Garmin screen (GMI 20) which helps when docking in windy conditions. The spotlight has been replaced with a Jabsco wireless control on the helm for pan tilt and changes from the spotlight to floodlight modes. This vessel even has a Garmin forward-looking sonar to help in shallow waters.There is a pan/tilt aft-facing camera to assist in maneuvering, which can be displayed on either of the Garmin chart plotters or on the TV. Aft Cockpit The aft cockpit was professionally installed at Newport Shipyard in 2014. An engineering study was completed by Gurit (a Danish firm specializing in marine construction) relating to the attachment and construction of the project. Since 2014 the aft cockpit extension has performed flawlessly. The vessel underway with the extension is stable and performance is excellent. The extension includes a built-in curved couch with Sunbrella nautical-themed stripes which match throughout the vessel. All exterior cushions have closed cell foam for no water absorption. A teak custom inlaid epoxy coated table adorns the sitting area. A port-side refrigerator is built into the extension bearing the Meridian logo engraved upon the door. Above the fridge is a clever pull-out electric grill. Multiple storage areas are under the couches. At the stern of the platform is a large hydraulic hatch for additional storage. The rear of the extension has a swim platform with a hatch for stowing the flip-out telescopic ladder. Appropriate cleats are attached to the platform. Upper Cockpit The upper cockpit has a couch which was installed as this space on a standard 408 is vacant. It has upgraded Sunbrella fabric which matches all other cushions. The couch has storage under cushions and a storage compartment. The couch has stainless cupholders. Across from the couch is a sink with storage cabinets for liquor bottles and a full-size ice maker in the adjacent cabinet. The port and starboard clear curved windows were originally plastic and were easily scratched and were replaced with tempered glass. Also in front of the couch is a custom epoxy-coated teak table on a hi/low base. The 32" TV faces the couch and can be rotated to face the helm area for viewing there as well. Deck Equipment All exterior gunwales, bow as well as upper and lower cockpits and swim platform have Flexiteek installed. It looks just like new teak without the upkeep and maintenance teak requires. A clever design to hide the cable and water hose includes two hatches on the cockpit floor which contain them for no tripping or unsightly cables in the cockpit. The Meridian name boards were originally plastic which during buffing were susceptible to damage and were replaced with highly polished solid stainless-steel. Anchor The anchor is the highly regarded Ultra Anchor with its optional swivel, so the anchor always comes up in the proper position. This famed Turkish stainless steel anchor's design holds ground better than any other anchor in it’s class. The first 5 feet of chain is polished stainless steel, so it looks great being visible up at the windless. The plastic anchor control covers on the bow have been replaced with polished stainless-steel covers. Additional Equipment​ Entertainment Equipment This vessel has a stereo system designed by a high-fidelity expert. It has a Fusion large screen LCD head unit at the helm and two remote LCD panels on the upper cockpit and one at the lower cockpit for full control. The Fusion remote units are on the NEMA network, so they can display any NEMA data, such as wind speed and direction. It has JL audio speakers through the exterior of the boat with two 12" subwoofers. Amplifiers power each of the speakers with clean power. Galley The Galley has a large Kenyon cooktop as well as a large refrigerator, freezer, and microwave. The galley also has plenty of counter space for enjoyable onboard cooking. Mechanical Equipment​ Engine Room All lighting in the engine room is LED. All maintenance is up to date, including the cleaning of the after coolers (port side aftercooler is new) and heat exchangers. Sherwood water pumps have been upgraded to the more dependable SMX pumps with easy-to-change impellers (not using splines or key way) but a special tool to make removal and insertion easy. The boat has a Reverso electric oil changer system. All seacocks have Groco valves which allow for pull-out plugs for easy winterization. The original float design for waste tank monitoring has been replaced by an ultrasonic device for accurate readings without the usual issues a float presents. Waste level are displayed on digital monitor. Air Conditioning All four A/C units have been replaced recently with new Cruisair units. These units have plastic pans which do not corrode or leave rust stains down the side of the boat on raw water outlets. The A/C pump is oversized and new as of 2020. Electrical Equipment Generator: Onan 9 kW Model 9MDKAV-2743 The interior electrical panel like the rest of the vessel has been fully upgraded with numerous LCD panels for all conditions of the boat and battery charging systems. Since some of the displays are on the NEMA network even all weather information including wind speed and direction can be shown as well as any other NEMA data. Underwater lighting i state-of-the-art. All lights are Lumishore with infinite color-changing capabilities. There are four large lights on the stern and two lights one on the port and one on the starboard side. A computer mainframe controls all the lighting with a DMX controller like those used at rock concerts for multiple effects. An LCD Lumishore light control panel is on the platform extension. Control can also be done with an iPad using custom software. The Custom stainless vessel name "Prime Time" also lights up and is interfaced with the DMX system and can be synced to follow the colors of the underwater lights as well as many other lighting modes. If the name of the boat changes, the existing wiring can be used for new vessel name. Even the horns have been upgraded to Khalenberg air horns loud enough to get the attention of any size vessel. Security systems The vessel has an alarm system with all exterior doors as well as a contact that sets off the alarm if the canvas cover for the helm electronics panel is removed. There are 4 blinking red LEDs at all entry points when the alarm is armed. A keyless wireless remote arms/disarms. Also there are port and stbd forward facing cameras and two aft facing cameras which record to a DVR. These cameras can also be displayed on chartplotter or helm TV for assistance when docking The Vessel has a new 2021 ACR full-size EPIRB. Salon The salon has two opposing couches with the port side couch having 3 pull-out footrests. Storage is under the starboard couch. All woodwork throughout the boat is cherry and in outstanding condition. All carpeting in the boat is excellent and stain-free. The salon has a 32" 4K HDTV with a Yamaha receiver and Dish Network equipment hidden in a cabinet. Four speakers are in the salon, with two subwoofers under the couch for surround sound. There is also a CD changer with AM/FM radio under the TV. Stairs leading to the galley and bow stateroom lift up where the washer/Dryer and central vac system is located. Accommodations​ Owner Stateroom: The owner's stateroom is a few steps down from the salon back aft. The stateroom provides ample hanging closet space, a large bed with easy access on both sides, a large window for plenty of light into the aft cockpit, a large head, and a separate shower space. VIP Stateroom: Forward of the galley is the VIP Stateroom with ensuite head, sink, and a separate enclosed stall shower. There is a separate door leading to the head from the salon for “day head” access. The aft-facing sleeping area has easy accessibility from port or starboard and plenty of storage lockers/closets. Helm Area: Above the salon is the helm area and lounge. Visibility is excellent and incorporates plenty of seating, a fridge, and a large flat screen TV on a movable hinge. The flat screen TV can be rotated to face either the helm or the upper cockpit. For ease of maneuvering, the TV, when facing the helm, can display port and starboard views of the sides of the vessel at the same time on a split screen. “SIRIUS” is a 60 foot custom wooden motor yacht of the “flush deck cruiser” model, built by the well-respected John Trumpy of Annapolis, Maryland in 1964.

“SIRIUS” is in “above average” condition for a vessel of this era and compared to other yachts of the same age, benefiting from a professional maintenance and repair program.

This yacht received a complete new bottom in 1999. 

In 2012 The entire boat went through a refit, including new interior.

Since 2012 the yacht has lived in fresh water. It stays in a climate controlled storage in the winter.. The main deck consists of the pilothouse with a large enclosed aft seating area.

The helm station has a forward-facing settee at the wheel with chart drawers under. Large windows afford all-round visibility and light. Aft of the settee is a service counter. Stairs to port leads to the mid-deck level and main salon. The main salon is well lit with natural light from deck level windows and is comfortably appointed. Galley to port and a dinette to starboard. Forward of the galley in the focs’le are the crews quarters with head. Centered at the forward bulkhead is a stair leading to the lower deck with galley to port and a dinette to starboard. The foredeck is accessed through side doors at the helm station, port and starboard, giving easy access to the docking and anchoring gear located at the bow. The engine room is located mid-ship at the lower level and separates the forward cabins from the master stateroom. The aft accommodations are accessed by a stair from the main salon with a guest cabin to starboard of the passageway and a head to port. Storage lockers are to port and the full width master state room is aft. The owner’s cabin has twin berths with drawers under and a dresser between. The head with shower is en-suite. All cabins are tastefully decorated.

Main Salon:

The main salon is well lit with natural light from deck level windows and is comfortably appointed. Joiner work throughout the boat is varnished Teak. Centered at the forward bulkhead is a stair leading to the lower deck, going aft in the salon you enter the climate controlled aft deck.

• Head/toilet system in the yacht had a complete replacement in 2019. Tanks, hoses, fittings, toilets all new.

The foredeck is accessed through side doors at the helm station, port and starboard, giving easy access to the docking and anchoring gear located at the bow. Exterior decking is a painted surface. Teak railings extend from the foredeck to the side cabin entry doors. Aft deck is air conditioned and heated.

Hull Construction:

Construction for topsides and bottom are of double planked Mahogany on Sawn White Oak frames. Fastenings are copper nails and bronze screws. White Oak chine logs are through bolted to gussets at the chine. The original bottom was replaced in its entirety in 1998 using the original scantlings with synthetic adhesive between the plank layers. The shaft logs were replaced, and some reframing was done at this time. Keel, floors, deck beams and other structural parts are white oak. The transom is framed with white oak and planked with teak where varnished, the lower planks are of mahogany.

Recently, bottom repairs were made to the port side including renewed planking, and frame and floor repair. These repairs are of very good quality.

Exterior topside hull surfaces are painted with a urethane type paint. The upper works are teak, varnished. Cabin tops are painted.

Why not? Above all, it’s out of respect for our customers. Would you want everyone on social media to see exactly how much you paid for your yacht? Neither would we.

All the boats you see on our social media channels were custom-built for their owners. We don’t hold stock boats, every Sirius is made for someone, to their exacting and individual requirements. So which price should we quote in reply to a comment? The total cost of that boat, knowing the owner might have added tens of thousands of euros, pounds or dollars of equipment and customisations, or a base price which could lead people to believe everything they see is included?

We tailor-make our sailboats. If we give a base price for a specific boat and the owner wants to sell her in the future, a potential buyer might look at that base price and not see the many thousands of euros/dollars/pounds worth of extras that have been added. The buyer is then likely to compare that boat’s asking price with the base price of a new one, without factoring in all the equipment and extras that make up a significant part of her true value. They could form the mistaken impression that the asking price is too high. We don’t feel that’s fair.

Another reason we don’t give prices in comments on social media or include them in our videos is to ensure accuracy over time. Prices change, material and equipment costs fluctuate but a comment will stay on social media indefinitely unless it’s deleted, and we’re keen to avoid misleading people with out-of-date pricing information. Instead, we publish the current base prices for each of our models on this web page, which is updated annually to ensure that it’s always accurate. We are proud that no two Sirius yachts are alike, and as such the total cost of each yacht will always be different. If you want a full price list, please contact us.

Unlike most other boat manufacturers our base prices are accurate and inclusive. You won’t need to add an extra 25-50% on top of the base price just to get your yacht equipped to go sailing. Even our smallest model, the 310DS, comes with Flexiteek decking on the cockpit sole, coamings and swim platform, a mainsail, a self-tacking jib on a Furlex roller furler, an anchor windlass and anchor equipment, shore power and charger, refrigerator, pressurised water system and antifoul as standard.

On our Sirius 40DS the specification includes wind, speed and depth instruments, twin heads compartments, a technical room and a cockpit table. Many high-cost items that other manufacturers consider to be ‘extras’, we regard as standard like heating, an anchor windlass and a Flexiteek deck. We give you 360-degree views and the option to customise any part of the yacht – which many manufacturers don’t.

As you can see, we go to great lengths to explain our yachts and what our standard price includes. It’s not something that can be quickly explained in a few lines of a reply on Facebook – instead, we’re explaining it fully with this in-depth article.

The Sirius yachts you see in photos and videos have a wide variety of extras specified by their owners. The equipment that suits one owner may be superfluous to another. We can’t know how much your boat would cost unless you get in touch to discuss the options you do want, the ones you might want, and the ones you’ll never need. We go through this process with everyone who buys one of our yachts and can often steer people towards more cost-effective options than they would have chosen initially. When we know exactly what you want, then we can give you an accurate price for a boat that is ideal for you. If you send us an email, saying what you would like to do with the boat and the area you want to sail, we can give an estimate for a typically equipped yacht.

We know our boats will, at first glance, seem expensive when compared to a typical mass-production yacht, but that’s like saying a hand-tailored suit is expensive compared to an off-the-rail suit. Like a tailored suit we make each yacht to fit her owner, we use the finest materials and the boat is made by highly skilled, meticulous and experienced craftsmen. It isn’t just assembled.

Yes, a Sirius yacht costs a lot of money, but does that mean it’s expensive? Expensive implies ‘overpriced’ and when you see the materials, craftsmanship and personalisation that goes into every Sirius, we’re sure you will agree that they offer good value. We work without dealers, do not have a vast advertising spend, and keep overheads as low as possible, this helps you get more in the way of materials and craftsmanship because our overheads are lower.

When comparing Sirius yachts to other boats, keep in mind that while ours are relatively small in terms of overall length, we build them with accommodation on two levels and every square inch is carefully configured as either useful living space or practical stowage, so there’s 25-30% more interior that needs to be crafted and that adds to the cost. Remember, interior space that’s unusable is wasted and empty air costs nothing. We build our boats extra strong, using more – and better – raw materials. We often fit twin keels, usually two headsails and always top-quality equipment throughout, all of which increases the price. It’s hardly a surprise if they cost a bit more.

Like most top-quality things that are built to last a lifetime, our sailboats retain their value. The demand for used Sirius yachts always outstrips the supply. Sirius owners tend to keep their boats for a long time, so you’re likely to find very few of them on the secondhand market at any given time.
