Founded in 2010, boutique superyacht broker VERPEKA DOLLING has built a reputation for excellence and discretion in yacht sales and purchase, management and charter. Based in Monaco, it manages vessels all over the world. We caught up with co-founder Rob Dolling, who is the responsible for sales & purchase, management and new constructions, to get his views on the superyacht industry and to ask how Centtrip supports the firm and its clients.

Hi Rob, VERPEKA DOLLING’s been in business for ten years now, what first brought you to Centtrip?

Over the years, with increasing KYC [Know Your Customer]and due diligence requirements, it's become very hard to open bank accounts for yachts. It’s got to the point where banks simply don’t want the business. It’s not in their customer profile.

And, even if you do have a bank account, retail or business banks are not very flexible. To get cards takes weeks, to make revisions takes ages. Everything takes a long time. And, with anti-money laundering regulations, working with cash is seen as almost criminal. We used to withdraw €50,000 to €100,000 in cash to put on each charter yacht. You just can't do that anymore.

So, I was looking for a banking and financial partner that could simplify our business because the traditional approach was killing our operations. It was making it very difficult to offer a simple management structure to our clients.

What made you consider Centtrip?

We needed a financial partner and Centtrip ticked all the boxes. The guys were very easy to work with and it was easy to set up sub accounts for each management yacht. Cards were issued within a couple of days. If I wanted to set up a separate account for charter activities, it was done almost the same day.

You have control over everything. If there's a problem on a boat, or if a card is lost, I can go on my phone and switch off the card within seconds. If necessary, I can switch it back on again.

Speed and flexibility are everything in this business, because owners make last-minute decisions and if you get delayed by payments or anything else – sometimes for hours or days – it can cost a fortune or really blow a boat's schedule. Having failsafe financial security, knowing you can provision for every eventuality, and having a financial partner that understands your world really gives you peace of mind. Centtrip’s made the financial side of yacht management a pleasure. 

So, no more cash?

Cash is so messy, now. We steer clear of it almost entirely. We tell our crews to use their cards wherever they can. If they do need cash, they can withdraw it from an ATM using the card, so it's accounted for. It keeps tracking and accountability high and hassle low.

[When it comes to large payments] if the marina doesn’t take payment by bank transfer, I can instantly move additional funds onto the captain’s card and he can pay with that. The flexibility and how quickly everything can be achieved with Centtrip is just incredible .

And that helps you clients, too?

Yes, I’m a big fan of Centtrip. When we provide management proposals now, we highlight the flexibility we can offer with quick account opening, individual cards on a very swift basis, the digital online access, and the high level of control you have over the account and all cards. Looking ahead, what changes do you see in the superyacht sector?

The idea of having your yacht just in the Med or the Caribbean is changing. With the advent of the explorer yacht, boats are going further afield. Owners are buying boats capable of going around the world. They’re planning to be on board more often and they want greater autonomy.

Far flung destinations like French Polynesia and Asia are becoming more popular, as they should. You have a yacht so you can go where you want, when you want. Of course, that means crossing international boundaries more frequently and it increases the need for an easy, non-cash, way of paying for everything.

The client’s brief was presented a significant challenge. We had to deliver a distinctive and modern yacht website design that would set them apart from the crowd, on a very limited time limit. The orders we received were to set the website live by the beginning of the Monaco Yacht Show, no exceptions. As expected, our extraordinary team completed the project on time with flawless execution! Our agency continuously sets higher goals for ourselves to reach and to generate the maximum return on investment for our clients as possible. We kept their brand colours the same but refreshed the overall colour scheme by adding bright accents and gently updating the logo. The client also desired their website to have a smooth and enjoyable user experience as a user-friendly website is vital for reaching then gaining new clients online.

Our design team at Relevance took into consideration our client’s brief and the latest ux website design trends, such as minimalistic shapes, animations, and micro-interactions. At the end of the brainstorm and several penetration tests, they came up with a website that was as unique and dazzling as the creators of the company. We created a blog for them that will be updated with the latest yachting news and to highlight their expertise in the industry. 

The homepage features several content blocks, carousels and an animated logo, where brand colours intermingle in an engaging and attractive manner. We incorporated large hero images across the top of all pages, integrated semi-flat card segments like on the yachts for sale page while ensuring there was still generous spacing between elements. All of the aforementioned features will help the website to have a contemporary yet classic look.

Beyond creating a unique yacht website design, we conducted intensive research to optimise the site for SEO. We began by analysing hundreds of yachting keywords and choosing the optimum ones for Verpeka Dolling. Our content team, together with Rob Dolling, produced incredible user-friendly and SEO-optimised content that you can now discover on the website. New modification of Russian VVER-440 fuel loaded at Paks NPP in Hungary

DECEMBER 14, 2020 — After the recent refueling at power unit 3 of the Hungarian Paks NPP, its VVER-440 reactor has been loaded with a batch of fresh fuel including 18 fuel bundles of the new modification. The new fuel will be introduced at all four operating power units of the Paks NPP, and the amount of new-modification bundles in each refueling will be increased gradually.

Development of the new VVER-440 fuel modification was completed in 2020 under the contract between TVEL JSC and MVM Paks NPP Ltd. Its introduction would optimize the hydro-uranium ratio in the reactor core, enabling to increase the efficiency of fuel usage and advance the economic performance of the power plant operation. All VVER-440 fuel modifications are manufactured at the Elemash Machine-Building Plant, a facility of TVEL Fuel Company in Elektrostal, Moscow Region.

“Introduction of a new fuel is an option to improve technical and economic performance of a nuclear power plant without substantial investment. We are actively engaged in development of new models and modifications of VVER-440 fuel for power plants in Europe. The projects of the new fuels for Loviisa NPP in Finland, Dukovany NPP in the Czech Republic, Mochovce and Bohunice NPPs in Slovakia, are currently at various stages of implementation. Despite the same reactor model, these projects are quite different technically and conceptually, since we take into account the individual needs and requirements of our customers,” commented Natalia Nikipelova, President of TVEL JSC.

The project of development and validation of the new fuel has been accomplished with participation of a number of Russian nuclear industry enterprises, such as OKB Gidropress (a part of Rosatom machine-building division Atomenergomash), Bochvar Institute (material science research facility of TVEL Fuel Company), Elemash Machine-building plant and Kurchatov Institute national research center. At the site of OKB Gidropress research and experiment facility, the new fuel passed a range of hydraulic, longevity and vibration tests.

Paks NPP is the only functioning nuclear power plant in Hungary with total installed capacity 2000 MWe. It operates four similar units powered by VVER-440 reactors and commissioned one by one in 1982-1987. Currently, Paks NPP is the only VVER-440 plant in the world operating in extended 15-monthes fuel cycle. The power plant produces about 15 bln kWh annually, about a half of electric power generation in Hungary. In 2018, the project of increasing the duration of Paks NPP fuel cycle won the European competition Quality Innovation Award in the nomination “Innovations of large enterprises”. Russian engineers from TVEL JSC, Kurchatov Institute, OKB Gidropress, Bochvar Institute and Elemash Machine-building plant provided assistance to the Hungarian colleagues in accomplishment of the project.

  TVEL Fuel Company of Rosatom incorporates enterprises for the fabrication of nuclear fuel, conversion and enrichment of uranium, production of gas centrifuges, as well as research and design organizations. It is the only supplier of nuclear fuel for Russian nuclear power plants. TVEL Fuel Company of Rosatom provides nuclear fuel for 73 power reactors in 13 countries worldwide, research reactors in eight countries, as well as transport reactors of the Russian nuclear fleet. Every sixth power reactor in the world operates on fuel manufactured by TVEL.  www.tvel.ru

Monaco yacht sales and charter business Verpeka Dolling opened its doors in the capital of the yachting world in 2010. Lead by industry experts Nataliya Verpeka and Rob Dolling, this boutique brokerage house has consistently won the trust and business of the world’s most discerning yacht owners.
