GREY Specifications

EXTERIOR Superyacht GREY has been designed by Francesco Paszkowski to very precise requirements from the owner, setting her apart from other in the series. Her tri-deck design features a spectacular outdoor home cinema screen, located in from of the foredeck swimming pool and lounge. This high-definition and high-luminosity screen comes in addition to a top-of-the-range sound system throughout, designed by Forcal & Nain. INTERIOR Internally, the attention to detail is clear with luxurious and sophisticated spaces design by Giorgio Maria Cassetta. In close collaboration with the owner they have created a warm and inviting look features natural materials, rich wood and classic marble. Tankoa delivers 50m superyacht GREY to her owner

Following successful sea trials, the 50m (164ft) superyacht GREY has departed Tankoa 's facilities in Genoa, Italy and has now been handed over to her owners.

Representing the latest unit in their S501 series, the motor yacht has been heavily customized in line with the owners’ needs, courtesy of exterior designer Francesco Paszkowski.

Meanwhile, also in collaboration with her owners, Giorgio Maria Cassetta is responsible for her sophisticated interior design, using an array of natural materials such as rich woods and veined marbles to create a warm and luxurious ambience. 

Showcasing a whisper grey hull and sporty exterior lines with a plumb bow, alfresco living has been at the forefront of her overall design, while enlarged windows, glass bulwarks and fold-out balconies create the all-important synergy between her indoor and outdoor spaces.

Key differences to her sister ships include a spectacular high-definition, high-luminosity cinema screen on her foredeck and top-of-the-range sound system by the award-winning brand Focal & Naim. 

She also features a wealth of relaxation and entertainment spaces across all three decks, a stunning foredeck swimming pool, vast sundeck and a fold-down beach club equipped with the latest toys and accessories.

Transforming the bow into an epic outdoor theater, the giant high-definition TV takes center stage. It’s perhaps the largest screen to feature on a boat of this size, sheltered by a temporary sunshade and flanked by sunpads on either side. And the submerged pool seats keep guests cool when viewing on hot days. In front of the wheelhouse is a bank of sofas and tables for guests who prefer to stay dry, yet still enjoy lines of sight usually reserved for the captain.

For the young European owner with entertaining at the forefront of his mind, Grey is an impressive first yacht. “He wanted something different for his first boat and asked to have the richest materials on board,” Elisa Corti, Tankoa’s PR representative, told Robb Report during a tour of the yacht in Monaco. “He paid a lot of attention to even the smallest of details.”

The entire boat is designed to elevate the onboard fun factor. It’s fitted with state-of-the-art stereo sound by Focal & Naim to bring a cinematic quality to films and sports, enhanced by acoustic leather wallpaper.

The sky lounge on the upper deck is a dedicated media room fitted with a large LG Signature rollable TV. The original layout included a second galley on this level, but in the spirit of socializing, the owner amended the design to include an open bar. A non-negotiable for the owner was the addition of Starlink satellite, which means the yacht has guaranteed connectivity for navigation, technology, and streaming media.

Built on speculation before the owner stepped in, much of the three-deck layout closely echoes the previous four units, except for a few owner customizations.

This includes the sundeck, which was extended by 108 square feet, a second pool, pop-up tables for alfresco dining, and an outdoor galley with a bar made from the largest slab of backlit black agate found on any yacht.

Other bespoke details include the single-but-significantly larger windows in each of the four light-filled lower deck guest cabins—two doubles and two twins. The owner also requested the use of leather on the interior, rare white Macaubas quartzite in the master suite, and soft carpet on the stairs.

Other materials include natural flamed Indian rosewood, European oak, eucalyptus, and Palissandro Bluette marble. And, of course, a TV in every room. “The client’s instructions were to deliver a result that would be luxurious and rich, a showcase of fine craftsmanship,” said Cassetta in a statement.

The full-beam owner’s suite with a walk-in wardrobe and en suite is on the main deck forward, with two asymmetric fold-down balconies on each side, both with windows that open when the balconies are closed. A VIP is also found on this level, located between the master suite and the main salon, which also has formal dining. With built-in deck spaces, the owner uses both the master and VIP as impromptu offices when needed.

Grey has a top speed of 17.5 knots and a cruising speed of 16 knots. Its range is 4,000 nautical miles at 11 knots.

The best-laid plans of mice, men, and yacht buyers. The owner took delivery of his personalized boat last June, only enjoying a few weeks of cruising in summer before listing Grey for charter and sale. The good news is that it’s a ready-made platform for anyone who likes to party.

Tankoa Yachts delivers superyacht Grey

The s501 50m motoryacht grey has been delivered by the tankoa shipyard in genoa, italy….

M/Y Grey is the fifth unit in Tankoa Yachts ’ S501 series but is substantially different from its sisterships, and the three-deck layout, devised by exterior designer Francesco Paszkowski , was heavily customised for the owner.

The yacht features an outdoor home cinema screen located in front of the swimming pool lounge on the foredeck. Grey is also fitted with a top-of-the-range sound system designed by Focal & Naim.

With alfresco living a key element of the design, there are four open lounging and entertainment spaces, and a large Jacuzzi as well as a pool on the foredeck. Other features include enlarged windows on the main deck, glass bulwarks and fold-out balconies to heighten the indoor-outdoor connection.

Giorgio Cassetta worked in collaboration with the owner on the interiors, making use of rich woods and veined marbles. “This interior is one of the finest I have ever seen on any yacht of this size,” says David Westwood, principal partner of project managers TWW Yachts.

The six suites on board Grey – including two customised suites on the main deck – can accommodate up to 12 overnight guests. There is also space for up to nine crew.

The Tankoa S501 series has a gross tonnage of 499gt, a top speed of 18 knots and an aluminium hull and superstructure. Grey will soon join sisterships  Vertige , Bintador , Kinda and Olokun at sea.

Six of the coolest features on board Tankoa's recently-sold Grey

The new 49.8-metre motor yacht Grey has been sold with Jean-Claude Carme of TWW Yachts representing the seller and the buying broker wishing to remain anonymous. Her new name is expected to be Jimmy . She had a last known asking price of €36,500,000 and was offered for sale in a near-new state, having been delivered in 2023. She is an S501 model with sisterships including Kinda and Olokun . 

Her Francesco Paszkowski exterior sports a "whisper grey" hull and a "jet black" superstructure, earning her a place as a finalist in the Outstanding Exterior Design category in the BOAT Design & Innovation Awards 2024. Grey 's interior styling was completed by Giorgio Cassetta . 

BOAT zooms in on some of her coolest features on board...

1. The forward pool with "magic seats"

One key departure from Grey 's sisterships is the foredeck, which features a larger-than-usual glass-sided swimming pool. It is located in the bow and is flanked by what TWW describes as "magic seats" and lounge seating. Better still, the pool faces a 144-inch retractable cinema screen which transforms the bow into an outdoor theatre... 

2. The outdoor home cinema screen worth around $ 298,000 

 Her 144' C-seed outdoor cinema is capable of completely retracting and folding away and is estimated to be worth around $233,000 . Integrated speakers are placed around the pool for a supreme audio experience - the broker commented that the "incredible sound system" by the French-British brand Focal/Naim is "not something you encounter very often" and is fitted throughout the vessel. 

3. The sundeck Jacuzzi with one of the largest single pieces of black agate found on any yacht

A particular highlight is the large Jacuzzi located on the sundeck, offering unobstructed sea views and shade from the midday sun thanks to the awning. There is ample lounging space and sunpads, while a backlit agate bar is located aft of the deck. The bar, according to Cassetta, is the largest single slab of backlit agate on any yacht in the fleet.

4. Glass-bottomed balconies in the owner's suite

Offering a little more privacy, the owner's suite is fitted with two fold-down balconies – an extension of the yacht's indoor-outdoor theme. The balconies are fitted with a glass floor, perfect for watching sea life below. Tables and chairs can easily be arranged in the space, providing a lovely spot for a coffee or cocktails. In total, Grey (now Jimmy ) can accommodate a party of 12, with an owner's suite and a VIP cabin on the main deck. The lower deck contains two twin and two double cabins, with further quarters for nine crew.

5. An extensive use of glass

The interior benefits from enlarged windows in the open-plan saloon and dining area, while glass bulwarks on the main deck offer uninhibited sea views. This bright ambience is aided by the use of neutral-toned upholstery and carpets with cushions in a symphony of ocean blues scattered throughout the saloon and cabins.

6. Five outdoor spaces

With the pool forward and large Jacuzzi on the sundeck, Grey offers guests a choice of five outdoor spaces, spread over 300 square metres of deck, to dine or relax on. On the upper deck aft is a shaded al fresco dining area and at beach club level a large swim platform offers easy ocean access. 

In terms of numbers, the MCA-compliant, 499GT yacht has a top speed of 17 knots and cruising speed of 15 knots under her twin 1,400hp MAN diesel engines.

Tankoa Delivers 50M Superyacht Grey

The 49.99-metre superyacht Grey has been delivered by the Tankoa shipyard in Genoa, Italy, as the latest unit in the yard’s S501 series. The owner signed the new-build contract in July 2021 and appointed TWW Yachts as project managers. Grey has been in private use since her owner took delivery on May 12, 2023.

Despite being part of the Tankoa S501 series, Grey is substantially different from her sister ships Kinda and Olokun and the three-deck layout, devised by exterior designer Francesco Paszkowski, was heavily customised to meet her owners’ needs.

In addition to the standard features that come with the timeless Tankoa S501 series design, the owner added a spectacular outdoor home cinema screen. This high-definition and high-luminosity screen is located in front of the swimming pool lounge on the foredeck. Grey is also fitted throughout with a top-of-the-range sound system designed by the award-winning French/British brand Focal & Naim.

‘Our usual flexibility in satisfying customer requests is evident in the customisations made onboard Grey – such as the installation of a swimming pool in the bow, and the fantastic never seen before cinema/sound system. The jet black and whisper grey paint gives a sleek look to Grey,’ says Giuseppe Mazza, Tankoa sales and marketing manager.

The owner also gave attention to the design of the exterior decks and the four open lounging and entertainment spaces available. With alfresco living a key element of her design, Grey features a large Jacuzzi on the fly deck alongside seating and lounging areas as well as a pool on the foredeck.

TWW Yachts supported the owner throughout the entire build process from the initial specification reviews to delivery.

‘We are particularly proud of Grey, and she has been designed and built for the most charming and passionate owners that a yacht broker and project managers can only dream of representing in a new-build project,’ says lead broker at TWW Yachts, Jean-Claude Carme.

Giorgio Maria Cassetta worked closely with the owner to create a luxurious and sophisticated interior. Together they created a warm and inviting look and feel, making great use of an array of natural materials, such as rich woods and veined marbles. The interior also benefits from enlarged windows on the main deck, glass bulwarks and fold-out balconies to heighten the all-important indoor-outdoor connection.

‘This interior is one of the finest I have ever seen on any yacht of this size,’ adds David Westwood, principal partner of TWW Yachts. The six suites onboard Grey – including two customised suites on the main deck – can accommodate up to 12 overnight guests. There is also space for up to nine crew.

The owner opted for the conventional propulsion package offered by Tankoa, which will deliver a top speed of 18 knots if using both the main diesel engines for propulsion and one diesel generator for the hotel load.
