MAN OF STEEL Yacht – Premier $150 M Superyacht

Measuring 86 meters, she is one of the world’s largest yachts.

Previously known as SEVEN SEAS, the name was inspired by the fact Spielberg had seven children. He owned the vessel from her delivery in 2010 through to 2021.

MAN OF STEEL yacht interior

The interior of the MAN OF STEEL yacht includes a fully equipped gym, a spa, a beach club, a movie theatre, a beauty salon, a dance floor, and of course, a glass elevator that connects the different levels of the yacht.

The gym is arguably one of the most impressive parts of this superyacht as it has floor-to-ceiling windows providing great views from one of the upper decks of the vessel.

This allows guests to have a beautiful view of not only the pool below but also the breathtaking scenery this yacht might pass when underway.

The private owners’ deck offers a fantastic state-of-the-art master bedroom with its own dressing room as well as an attached office or study. This suite includes its own private deck area with a sizable jacuzzi perfect for relaxing and drinking a glass of wine under starry skies.

The six additional luxurious suites can accommodate 12 additional guests allowing the MAN OF STEEL to welcome up to 14 guests in total who are tended to by 23 crew members. The MAN OF STEEL interior was designed by Nuvolari & Lenard and Molly Isaksen and is equipped with exquisite furniture made of walnut, teak, and rosewood, accented with natural materials and fabrics.

The design of the yacht interior is simple yet classy, with clean and minimalist spaces. Wooden furnishings can be found in all parts of the vessel, although the interior is not as opulently furnished and decorated as other superyachts in its price category.

Nuvolari & Lenard is a renowned design duo that specializes in traditional yacht design for vessels between 25 and 185 meters in length. Their aim is to redefine beauty while keeping classical elements in mind.

In collaboration with the American interior designer Molly Isaksen, they created a one-of-a-kind fusion of naval architecture, incorporating contemporary and traditional elements in the interior of this beautiful vessel. The MAN OF STEEL offers a 250 square feet semi-covered sundeck, which is located adjacent to the main salon that provides enough space for larger events and celebrations aboard the vessel. A crew of 23 members of staff offers an excellent 5-star service and fulfills every possible wish of the guests onboard the MAN OF STEEL superyacht.

With excellent fine dining capabilities and luxurious amenities, this yacht is ideal for private ownership as well as high-end charter service.

Yacht specifications

The MAN OF STEEL has a length of 86 meters (282.15 ft) with a beam of 14.2 meters (46.6 ft) and a draft of 3.91 meters (13 ft).

She was built by Oceana in Alblasserdam, the Netherlands using mainly steel and aluminum which is their specialty. MAN OF STEEL was completed and delivered to Steven Spielberg in 2010. The yacht has her main port in George Town, the capital of the Cayman Islands, under whose flag she sails and she has been spotted as far south as the port of Puerto Escondido . With a weight of 2.658 tons and an output of 6,984 kW (9,496 hp), the MAN OF STEEL can reach top speeds of 20 knots.

Her maximum range lies at 4,750 nautical miles, which is respectable considering her size.

Yacht exterior

Designed by Azure Naval Architects and styled by Nuvolari & Lenard, the MAN OF STEEL yacht combines exceptional craftsmanship with unique outlines. The hull of the ship is set in an elegant dark blue, while the upper decks were left in the traditional brilliant white that many yachts bear. On the aft deck, you will find an impressive infinity pool with an incredible 4.6 meter (15 ft) glass wall, which doubles as a movie screen if required. The aft has another slightly smaller pool as well as a sizable deck with comfortable seating. This deck can be used as a helipad for smaller aircraft allowing guests to arrive in style. When this area isn’t needed for landing purposes, it can be covered completely by large awnings providing additional shade to guests.

Toys and equipment

A yacht this size naturally comes with lots of toys and equipment to entertain the guests onboard.

The MAN OF STEEL carries four jet skis, several sea bobs, kayaks, paddleboards, snorkeling equipment, and much more.

The two tenders onboard the vessel are always ready to take the guests to the mainland or to the nearest secluded beach.

Spielberg purchased them from Hodgdon Yachts, a shipyard based in Maine in the United States after MAN OF STEEL was delivered in 2010.

The larger of the two tenders, the Limo, has space for twelve people with luxurious leather upholstery, flatscreen television, and air conditioning.

When the weather is nice, the roof of the tender can be lifted and opened using hydraulics.

Additional information

In 2013 MAN OF STEEL was overhauled and refitted by Amico & Co, a well-known superyacht repair and design company.

The shipyard is based in Genoa, Italy, and has a 60,000 m² dock and operating area where work on both smaller and larger vessels can be carried out.

Steven Spielberg sold his yacht Seven Seas for $ 151 million, now renamed Man of Steel

Steven Spielberg, famous film maker, sold his super yacht Seven Seas for $ 151 million and the yacht is now renamed to Man of Steel.

Seven Seas, one of the most famous names in the superyacht world, was designed and built over a decade ago to the specifications of a renowned director. But since the richest people in the world have never been satisfied with a particular "toy" like a yacht or a luxury car, it is time for this magnificent vessel to delight its new owner with its incredible space and comfort.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Spielberg's iconic luxury yacht had gone on sale for $ 161 million. It won't be long before someone gets their hands on this magnificent vessel, fully equipped with everything you could want in a "home away from home", but also designed for transatlantic travel. go almost anywhere.

Built by the Dutch shipyard Oceanco, known for its surprisingly expensive models, this 282-foot (86-meter) yacht can accommodate 20 guests and 28 crew in nine cabins. Some of its most notable features are the two spas, swimming pools, Jacuzzi, fully equipped gymnasium and of course the famous cinema, perfect for any movie buff on board. Its elegant interiors, designed by Nuvolari & Lenard / Molly Isaksen, are as extravagant as a five-star hotel, using neutral tones and precious materials.

In addition to beauty and a high level of comfort, Seven Seas is also designed to withstand long journeys in remote areas. With steel frame and two MTU motors of 4680 HP. each, this massive boat can reach a top speed of 19.5 knots (22 mph / 36 km / h) at a cruising speed of 15 knots (17 mph / 27.7 km / h).

According to the Individual Yacht Brokerage website, the Seven Seas was sold for an undisclosed amount, but the last sale price was reduced to $ 151 million. With a new owner (perhaps no less famous), a new name emerges. The "Seven Seas" chapter is over, but the story of the Man of Steel has only just begun.

About the Man of Steel

Man of Steel is a luxury yacht 86 m long. It was built by Oceanco in 2010. With a beam of 14.02 m and a current of 3.96 m, it has a steel body and an aluminum superstructure. Zekelman Industries has been identified as the buyer of movie mogul Steven Spielberg’s Seven Seas, a so-called ‘superyacht’ which went on the market earlier this year. Already renamed Man of Steel, the 2010-built luxury cruiser was listed for sale at a cool US$158 million (C$202 million).

It’s a 282-foot (86-metre) floating palace of sleek elegance. There’s a helipad, swimming pool and jacuzzi on the deck; cinema; gym and massage, sauna and steam rooms; nine cabins, including owner’s suite with private deck and a VIP stateroom. There’s room for 20 guests and crew quarters for 28 staff to serve them while afloat.

An elevator carries occupants to the various decks, adorned in teak and other exotic materials. The yacht carries two custom-built tenders — a 30-foot open sport boat and 34-foot “limousine” boat.

With an estimated top speed of 20 knots (37 km/h), it has a cruising range of 5,200 nautical miles (9,630 km) at 16 knots.

It’s the latest “Man of Steel” incarnation for the steel magnate who lives in Lakeshore and whose father Harry Zekelman founded steel tube manufacturer Atlas Tube in Harrow in 1984.

His first superyacht to carry the Man of Steel name was a 121-foot (37-metre) Heesen 3700 purchased in 2005. That was followed three years later by another Heesen Yachts custom build, a 160-foot (49-metre) vessel which was the Dutch company’s biggest boat at the time. They kept getting bigger, with a 2019 purchase of another Heesen, this one 163-footer (50-metre).

In the world of superyachts, size appears to matter, with ever-bigger and more luxurious private vessels being churned out for the world’s uber-wealthy.

Alas, the really super superyachts are reserved for the really rich billionaires, folks like Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich, whose 523-foot Eclipse came with a “developmental cost” of just over US$1 billion. And that 2010-built superyacht is now only the third-largest private yacht among the global elites, with most of these elite owners preferring to sail in anonymity.

The same Dutch company — Oceanco — that built the latest incarnation of Man of Steel is currently building a half-billion-dollar 127-metre superyacht for the richest man in the world, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos.

Something handy for the owners of Oceanco-built vessels is the company’s “rapid response team” that will fly out anywhere to help out with any sudden servicing needs.

It’s a good time to be one of the world’s more than 2,700 billionaires, an exclusive club that now sits atop net wealth of US$13 trillion (C$17 trillion). Nearly all of them experienced big boosts in earnings during the global pandemic; several have just started tourism ventures for wealthy travellers in space; and, just this week, one of their own — Elon Musk — was named Time magazine Person of the Year.

Fresh from his sale to Zekelman, Spielberg, a billionaire entertainment industry mogul known for directing and producing a long list of Hollywood blockbusters, is also moving up. Construction is underway on his next 358-foot (109-metre) private superyacht. According to Club Yacht, Spielberg would rent out Seven Seas when he didn’t need it, with up to 12 guests at a time paying just over US$1 million per week to cruise the Caribbean in luxury.

Barry Zekelman, frequently in the news with wife Stephanie for their many philanthropic activities, has not been specifically identified as the new owner, but he’s the head of purchaser Zekelman Industries, and he was named in November as the new skipper by yachting publication sites as well as Forbes and Bloomberg news services.

Zekelman, whose wealth was most recently pegged by Forbes at US$2.3 billion (C$3 billion), could not be reached for comment.

86m Oceanco superyacht Seven Seas sold

The 86 metre Oceanco superyacht Seven Seas has been sold and is now renamed Man of Steel .

The yacht, which was jointly listed for sale by Edmiston and Merle Wood & Associates , was sold with the buyer introduced by Thom Conboy and Chris Collins of Denison Yachting .

First delivered in 2010 and only ever used privately, Seven Seas is packed with premium superyacht features, including a touch-and-go helipad, a range of custom-built tenders, professional cinema and private owner’s deck.

After completing its 10-year Class Survey last year, the yacht was presented in turnkey condition.

The exterior design is penned by Nuvolari & Lenard while the naval architecture comes courtesy of Azure Naval Architecture . The “contemporary and elegant” interior meanwhile was created in collaboration between Nuvolari & Lenard and Molly Isaksen.

Accommodation on board is for a total of 20 guests, comprising the owner’s suite on a private deck with a Jacuzzi, a full-beam VIP, three doubles and one triple cabin on the main deck and a further “sea cabin” on the lower deck big enough for three. The crew quarters meanwhile allow for a staff of 28.

Seven Seas boasts extensive health and wellness facilities, including a swimming pool on the large aft deck, gym, massage room, sauna and steam room.

The asking price of Seven Seas has been withheld.

Man of Steel - 2008

man of steel yacht owner

Bigger, better, more complex

Man of Steel was Heesen’s first 50 metre steel hull displacement yacht. The owner had previously built a smaller semi-displacement yacht at Heesen and the shipyard was a clear first choice when he required something larger. Bigger, better, more complex, the new yacht moved Heesen into 50 metre construction and we were determined that our first yacht at this length would be something spectacular.

First impressions

One of the most striking features is the bridge’s reverse windshield. This not only increases visibility in wet conditions but gives the yacht a sleek, streamlined shape. The specially-designed bulbous bow creates an anti-wave for a smoother path through the water. This results in a reduction in the power required to reach a top speed of 14,5 knots. Less power requires less fuel.

Four distinct deck areas provide huge amounts of outside space. On the sun deck an eight-person Jacuzzi is faced by a vast quadruple sunbed, while the entire dining and bar area is shaded by the radar arch, with a large, opening sunroof providing natural light. An additional Jacuzzi is situated on the private owner’s deck.

“There’s the pleasure derived from beauty - beautiful things alone can save us. There’s no explicit functionality which can show the way to project design related decision making. What moves everything is passion for beauty. This is the sexiest thing about the boat taken as an object which really makes it very different to houses, paintings, or other forms of art. The chance to put your boat object you have fallen in love with on show for all to see. It’s a near perverted aspect of wanting to share your very own passion with someone else. Boats can be shown off anywhere. And moreover you sleep inside her, you cruise in beautiful places with her and having style you probably enjoy better interiors than you have at home. Many yacht owners spend much of their time in workaday lives only to escape to weekends and vacations on the boat. And no wonder they do: The time aboard can let a yachtsman get out of a rut and exercise control over his fate. The pilothouse offers a transformation, à la Superman’s telephone booth-well, maybe not quite to that extreme, but you get the meaning: It certainly is empowering to take in that view from the helm as you leave the dock without a look back.

The yacht Man of Steel has some superhero attributes in its own right. The custom-designed and built 164-foot trideck motoryacht, the recent and largest-yet delivery from Holland’s Heesen Yachts , is strong and protective of those aboard, yet has a soft spot for children.

Of course, the DC Comics hero Superman is the original “man of steel,” and subject of countless live action and animated film and television adaptations-an homage to him exists aboard the yacht in the form of a large mural, as well as a stylized logo on the transom that is reminiscent of the superhero’s symbol. The yacht’s name, however, refers to the North American owner Barry Zekelman’s steel business, and the logo bears not an “S” but a “Z” within the boundary of the familiar shield.

Man of Steel rides on a displacement hull constructed of-what else?-steel. She shares a family resemblance to Heesen’s smaller, series-built yachts, owing to their common origination from Omega Design, but her reverse pilothouse windshield and other details distinguish her profile from these earlier designs.

Her owner, moving up to this new Man of Steel from a 120-foot Heesen 3700 of the same name, was obviously happy with the team’s work, continuing with them for the new yacht, and bringing in Ausberg Design for the interior. In a joint statement following completion of the yacht, owner and designer reported, “For the good of the project, the lines between owner and designer were blurred, egos were non-existent, and eras and cultures were investigated. It was our goal from the beginning to have a great time together while creating this dream project. From the inception of this yacht, family fun was always at the forefront for this ‘home away from home.'”

The team’s success is evident in Man of Steel’s familyfriendly arrangement and her playful décor. The lower guest accommodations are devoted to the young family’s children, with each of the three staterooms having a layout and character specific to that child’s interests. The fourth stateroom is fitted as a dedicated television and playroom, so the children have a self-contained world of their own to enjoy when more formal adult activities occupy the main and upper decks. It is here that “the man of steel” rescues overwhelmed parents and watches over the children, as they relax on wide Art Deco lounges in shades of mango, raspberry, and lime, or avail themselves of the two computer-game stations located along the centerline bulkhead.

With the children occupying the lower deck, guests are accommodated in style in a spacious VIP suite forward on the main deck. The full-beam stateroom has a queen berth, cabinetry, and private head to starboard, as well as an exercise room where the owner’s office is normally located. To port is a seating area that overlooks the sea through three large windows. If the windows don’t provide enough of a view, a large hullside panel can be folded out to create a balcony with unobstructed views to the horizon.

At the center of the main deck are a guest foyer and the open central circular staircase, appropriately constructed of free-standing steel, that spans all three interior decks. A stunning display lies underfoot here and in the passageway to the VIP stateroom. Thousands of individually selected black river stones are mounted under clear structural glass and backlit in blue. The otherworldly motif continues into the day-head where it adorns both the deck and bulkhead. Glass is also used to advantage in the lower foyer, where a giant, stylized oyster shell, rendered in shades of blue, white, black, and clear glass, adorns the bulkhead facing the stairs.

Abaft the main-deck foyer are the dining room and salon. There’s also a large bar area that, via large movable glass panels, can be opened to the aft deck. The dining area, open to the salon but defined by low cabinetry, has a large square table that can host up to 12 in comfort. The salon features an assortment of sofas, chaises, and ottomans for the utmost in seating flexibility, and the bar seats an additional six guests.

The spacious VIP stateroom, forward on the main deck, could easily serve as the master suite, but that’s located up one more deck, abaft the pilothouse. It’s a magnificent space in both concept and execution, with a kingsize berth on a rotating platform at the center of a circular stateroom. When facing forward, the berth’s view is oriented to a widescreen video center. Rotated 180 degrees, the berth faces an aft deck with a waterfall whirlpool spa, sunpad, settee, and bar, as well as a view of the sea beyond. A folding hatch at the stairway from the main deck assures privacy when desired-the owners’ “Fortress of Solitude”-or can be opened to welcome guests to this area.

man of steel yacht owner

A second lounge area forward of the pilothouse, with a large settee, two tables, and a folding clamshell awning for shade, guarantees that the guests will not suffer when the owners’ area is off-limits. All navigation is done from the pilothouse on the upper deck-wing pods enable docking and close-quarter maneuvering-so the entire top deck is also devoted to family and guest relaxation. Under the shade of a large hardtop with an opening panel, the top deck carries a bar for six forward, a day-head to port, a dinette with seating for up to 12 to starboard, and aft, another whirlpool spa, this one twice the size of the owner’s spa on the deck below. Tenders are carried forward and aft, a RIB and two personal watercraft are on the foredeck, with davit launching, and a diesel tender and two more personal watercraft are on launching tracks in the stern garage.

man of steel yacht owner

One feature of Man of Steel that is not readily apparent, but vitally important, is her gross tonnage. Most yachts of her length-the 50-meter class-are designed to admeasure just under 500 gross tons. This is done to avoid the more onerous regulations that come with increased tonnage. But Man of Steel comes in at 637 gross register tons. This was a deliberate move on Heesen’s part, as they hope to use this design as the basis for a new 5000 series of semi-custom yachts. By complying with the regulations for the higher tonnage, they can offer yachts that, like Man of Steel , carry a lot more interior volume than other yachts of similar length. Additionally, should Man of Steel’s current or future owners want to lengthen her, not an unusual eventuality, they won’t have to face the complications that would come with transitioning from under 500 to over 500 tons, nor would Heesen face those same complications if someone wants a sistership that’s just a bit longer or larger.

What a super idea: Special requests are no problem. But you understand that from your powerful perch at the helm, where you don’t need to wear a cape to make decisions on the fly!

California yacht owner threatens to kill dock worker in vicious showdown, cali yacht owner threatens to kill dock worker drops pants for rude salute, 95 3/13/2024 8:09 am pt.

A California yacht owner's vicious beef with a dock worker has reached death-threat levels -- and their exchange was caught on camera and included a nude, and very rude, gesture!

Check out the clip ... it all unfolds when San Diego entrepreneur Ajay Thakore swings by the swanky Marriott Marquis Marina in his rare $4.5M Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 yacht to pick up one of his employees -- but things boil over when dock worker Joseph Holt tells him he can't be there.

Thakore, the CEO of medical advertising firm Doctor Multimedia, flips out on Holt big time ... and starts spewing threats like, "I will kill you, you know I will kill you, I will kill."

And it doesn't stop there -- as Thakore's pulling out of the harbor, he drops trou to make a full frontal salute in Holt's direction. Stay classy, San Diego!

Holt's only retaliation was flipping the bird, and he later told CBS8 that was all he could do to keep his cool and avoid escalating the situation.

Holt says parts of the altercation were not captured on camera, and he adds ... Thakore not only threatened to kill him, but also claimed to have connections who could totally mess up his life.

Holt also says Thakore pulled out $100 bills and tossed them at him, even chucking some in the water.

BTW, Thakore's done some backpedaling since the ugly exchange -- he now says, "The interaction that occurred yesterday was regrettable. What started as a minor misunderstanding escalated into an argument, and I apologize for my actions and to those who witnessed the unfortunate exchange."

Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.

FWIW ... One of Thakore’s employees claims the whole thing began because other dock workers blocked him from boarding the yacht.

Oh, and if that fancy Lambo yacht looks familiar -- it's the same one Chuck Liddell recently tumbled off just last month. Now it's famous AND infamous!

The owner of a $3.4 million Lamborghini yacht screamed 'I will kill you' and threw $100 bills into the water when told he couldn't use a private dock

  • The owner of a Lamborghini yacht threatened a private dock employee, per CBS8.
  • The employee said Ajay Thakore mooned and threw cash at him after being told he couldn't use the dock.
  • Thakore, the CEO of Doctor Multimedia, issued an apology through his public relations team.

Insider Today

The owner of a $3.4 million Lamborghini yacht threatened a private dock employee after being told he couldn't be there, the San Diego-based broadcaster CBS8 reported on March 11.

Joseph Holt, a 21-year-old employee at Marriot Marina in San Diego, told CBS8 that he spotted the yacht sailing into the private dock. The owner, whom CBS8 identified as Ajay Thakore, tried to pick another person up at the dock, Holt said.

"I told him respectfully that he couldn't be there, and I honestly was hoping to have a conversation with him about his cool boat," Holt told CBS8.

In a YouTube video posted by @SM-wc9eq on March 10, a dark blue Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 is seen sailing out of a dock. A man in a gray T-shirt, a pair of jeans, and a cap was shown standing on the yacht. The man appeared to be Thakore, per CBS8.

Thakore was shown shouting at Holt. "I will kill you, you know I will kill you!" he can be heard saying multiple times in the video

Thakore was later shown pounding his fist on his palm and pointing his thumb down before telling Holt: "To your face!" Holt was shown responding by pointing his middle finger at Thakore.

"I really was trying to restrain myself from getting fired from my job or stepping out of line. The only thing I did was give him the bird," Holt told CBS8.

Holt said Thakore then took $100 bills from his wallet and threw them at him. He added that Thakore mooned him. This exchange was not shown in the video.

"He was saying I'm nobody, I'm nothing, I work a silly job. He said that he knows people, he has connections, he can change my life and ruin it," Holt said. Holt did not immediately respond to Business Insider's request for comment.

The San Diego Harbor Police arrived at the marina 10 minutes after Thakore's yacht exited the dock, per CBS8. The Harbor Police did not immediately respond to a request for comment from BI.

According to Thakore's LinkedIn page , he's the CEO of Doctor Multimedia. The company's website shows that it's a healthcare marketing firm based in San Diego. Thakore appears to go by the name Ace Rogers on Instagram and TikTok, where he's noted as being a professional gambler.

Thakore, through his public relations team, told CBS8 in a statement that his altercation with Holt was "regrettable."

"What started as a minor misunderstanding escalated into an argument, and I apologize for my actions and to those who witnessed the unfortunate exchange," the statement said. Thakore did not immediately respond to a request for comment from BI.

Thakore isn't the only CEO who's been called out for threatening another person. In November 2021, an Activision spokesperson told BI that its ex-CEO Bobby Kotick had previously apologized for telling his assistant he would have her killed. The spokesperson added that Kotick's threat was "obviously hyperbolic and inappropriate" and that "he deeply regrets the exaggeration and tone."

In June 2020, Lisa Alexander, the CEO of LaFace Skincare, a cosmetics company, apologized in a statement to the media after she had threatened to call the police on her neighbor for writing "Black Lives Matter" on his property. Alexander said in the apology that she was "disrespectful" and "should have minded my own business."
