Siesta Key’s fifth season could be the most dramatic yet as there are celebrations and heartbreaks in equal measure on the MTV show. The season 5 trailer shows that cheating rumours are circulating, Sam’s being told to “ shut up “, others are being called “ vindictive “, some cast members are moving out and others are totally loved up.

Season 5 of the MTV show kicked off on March 10th and at the heart of a lot of the drama is what the cast members have been posting on social media. One thing that’s crystal clear from looking at Sam Logan’s Instagram is the fact that he’s extremely wealthy. It’s no secret that Sam Logan is loaded. If viewers couldn’t tell from Siesta Key that he’s rich, then a quick glimpse of his Instagram will confirm the rumours.

His ex, Juliette Porter, was accused by her fellow castmates of “ using ” Sam for his lifestyle and money. Juliette certainly got the perks of Sam’s life, including some fun times on the yacht, but the two split in 2021.

Speaking of Sam on Siesta Key, Juliette said: “ Sam is the nicest guy ever, he’s literally a billionaire but doesn’t brag about it. Instead, he’s always looking for ways to share his wealth with his friends.”

Sam Logan is only 30 years old and while people can be billionaires at any age (hello Kylie Jenner), it’s not the most common thing in the world.

When it comes to how Sam makes money, he has been a main cast member on Siesta Key since season 4 and he owns shares in his parents’ companies. Life and Style Mag writes that Sam has “ a 10 per cent owner in Scripps Networks, which means he makes money when the company profits “.

In 2021, Screen Rant reported that Sam’s father’s family has run Logan Construction Group LLC since 1996. His mother, Elizabeth, has family ties to the Scripps Research Institute and Scripps Network Interactive which runs several TV networks.

Instagram is Sam’s go-to to flex his wealth

If you imagine the Sun’s disk as a clock face, this is the hour hand value of where to look on that “clock” to see that very first little bite that the Moon is taking! (Remember, you must use eclipse glasses to look at the Sun at this time!)

This is when the maximum amount of the Sun's disk is covered. Also given in UT and you can convert it if you like.

The midpoint of totality. Again given in UT.

Eclipse Magnitude

The amount of the Sun's disk that is covered at the time of mid-eclipse. (Measured as a percentage of the Sun's diameter, not area!)

Altitude and azimuth of the Sun at the time of mid-eclipse

This will let you know where the Sun will be in the sky during mid-eclipse, so you can check to make sure that trees, buildings or mountains won’t be in your way. (You can also go outside to your planned viewing location on the day before the eclipse at eclipse time and check it out yourself. The Sun’s location in the sky at that time won’t change enough in one day for you to notice the difference.)

Altitude is given in degrees. The horizon is at 0°, and straight up is 90°. So 45° would be exactly halfway up, 30° would be 1/3 of the way up, and 60° would be 2/3 of the way up. Anything in between is, well, in between!

Azimuth is given as an angle so you can tell exactly where the Sun will be, and here are some references: 90° is due east, 180° is due south, and 270° is due west. So, if you see 200°, that’s a bit less than 1/3 of the way from due south to due west. 135° would be straight southeast.

Don’t look directly at the Sun

• Looking directly at the Sun is unsafe except during the brief total phase of a solar eclipse (totality), when the Moon entirely blocks the Sun’s bright face, which will happen only within the narrow path of totality.

• The only safe way to look directly at the uneclipsed or partially eclipsed Sun is through special-purpose solar filters, such as eclipse glasses or hand-held solar viewers. Homemade filters or ordinary sunglasses, even very dark ones, are not safe for looking at the Sun. To date, four manufacturers have certified that their eclipse glasses and handheld solar viewers meet the ISO 12312-2 international standard for such products: Rainbow Symphony, American Paper Optics, Thousand Oaks Optical, and TSE 17.

There are places on-line where you can "make" your own "viewer" for the eclipse - might want to try Googling them (basically, you need a box - shoe box/cereal box - along with paper, aluminum foil, tape and scissors).

Just don't STARE at it without protection - major damage to the retinas! :-(

I made one of those viewers from a cereal box and was very disappointed with the image as it was about the size of a shirt button. You would need a box that is at least 4 feet long to get a decent size image.

They aren't sure whether the partial eclipse can harm the inside of your phone (cameras DEFINITELY need a filter) . . . Just a warning! We will experience totality where I am, so I can take a pic at that point, but I'm not going to chance it during the partial eclipse period.

Yes, I've read some recommendations that even with a phone (doing a selfie) you need a filter to protect the phone. Don't know what kind of filter though.

Our Captain

Meet captain joe.

Joe is a USCG-licensed captain with the skill, knowledge, and passion to provide you with the finest experience the area has to offer while safely under his care. Captain Joe began his journey as a young boy fishing with his father and grandfather on the Great Lakes while living in Michigan. He took his first boating safety class at 12 years old and began motoring around on small vessels exploring the waters and building skills.

As a teenager, he explored and worked in the marinas helping with small charters, sanding and painting boats, and traveling as the first mate with friends and customers from the marina. He graduated to larger vessels with large parties as a crew member working under a respected captain at the marina, honing his skills and love for boating culture. As an educator for over 20 years, Capt. Joe has the heart of a teacher and loves to share his knowledge.

The 43m/141'1" motor yacht 'Loretta' (ex. Kahalani) was built by Feadship in the Netherlands at their Aalsmeer shipyard. Her interior is styled by English designer design house Terence Disdale and she was completed in 1993. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of De Voogt and she was last refitted in 2011.

Guest Accommodation

Loretta has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests in 6 suites. She is also capable of carrying up to 10 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Onboard Comfort & Entertainment

Her features include a gym, deck jacuzzi, WiFi and air conditioning.

Range & Performance

Loretta is built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, with teak decks. Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (3508 DITA) 775hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 12 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 13 knots with a range of up to 4,376 nautical miles from her 56,800 litre fuel tanks at 11 knots. An advanced stabilisation system on board promises exceptional comfort levels at anchor or on any voyage. Her water tanks store around 18,300 Litres of fresh water. She was built to Lloyds Register classification society rules, and is MCA Compliant.
