The Yacht Haven Grand has been kept a ‘well kept secret' and only savvy cruisers - and seasoned crew and staff - really know about this 'Haven'. The Yacht Haven is located on the west side of the Havensight Cruise Ship Dock, literally on the walking path to Charlotte Amalie located 1 mile (1.6 km) away.

It has some of the best, high-end shops in St Thomas like Bulgari, Coach, Gucci or Salvatore Ferragamo, and the ubiquitous Diamonds International. Along the marina, the cruise ship passenger will find a few kiosks, and some really nice places to have lunch, a refreshing drink or just a coffee.

Besides 3 locations in Charlotte Amalie, the Havensight Mall and the Crown Bay Center Diamonds International has a very impressive shop at the Yacht Haven. It has a very large selection of diamonds, offering the possibility of upgrades, but also all other gemstones. Crown of Light, Hearts On Fire and Forevermark are three of the many collections on offer.

St. Thomas has over 40 major beaches along its sun-drenched coasts. There are strands with crystal blue water and swaying coconut trees where a beach bum can enjoy a lazy-lazy day. For more active beach goers there are sandy coves with activities like windsurfing and kayaking. St. Thomas has two cruise ports - - The West India Company Dock (almost universally referred to as Havensight) and Crown Bay. Both are located on the south side of the island not far from Charlotte Amalie. Generally, the ships of Carnival Cruise Lines, Norwegian Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruises, and Royal Caribbean (except Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas) dock at Havensight. Cunard, Princess, Holland America and Oasis and Allure typically dock at Crown Bay. This can change depending on the number of ships in port. Deeper draft ships such as Queen Mary 2, Oasis and Allure are required to dock at Crown Bay.

On the island of St. Thomas, near historic downtown Charlotte Amalie, more than 13 acres of upland are being transformed into a playground by the sea called Yacht Haven Grande. Yacht Haven Grande will include a 32-acre, state-of-the-art marina for mega yachts with side-to berthing for yachts up to 400 ft, extra wide concrete docks, in-slip fueling, up to 600 amps of 3 phase power, and piers with secure access. The $160 million first phase of development is planned to be completed by November 2006 and can accommodate up to 50-mega yachts that could range from 80 to 450 ft in length, an 80,000 square foot retail village (including Louis Vuitton, Coach, Bebe, BCBG, Roberto Coin, Little Switzerland, Cache, White House Black Market, Chicos among others), 30,000 square feet of office space, 12 luxury condominiums, a private yacht club and four waterfront restaurants, one of which will extend into the harbor with 360-degree water views.

The Caribbean’s Must-Visit Yacht Show Is Coming to St Thomas 

The Virgin Islands Boating Expo will take place May 10-12, 2024 at Yacht Haven Grande St. Thomas, the USVI’s top yachting destination.

This boutique destination show, hosted by the Virgin Islands Professional Charter Association, ticks the top three boxes of what yacht buyers today want in a yacht sales experience: the ability to yacht shop, wine and dine, and stay and play — making for a unique kind of boat show-meets-food-festival event.

“We welcome our attendees, both the public and those flying into our award-winning destination, to visit with yacht dealers, manufacturers, exhibitors, and our local and global vendors,” said Joseph Boschulte, USVI Commissioner of Tourism. “Experience the best of what the U.S. Virgin Islands offers on land and sea and shop for a yacht while you’re here.”

Yacht shoppers can take advantage of duty-free tax benefits when buying in the USVI.  

It’s another major event for the Yacht Haven Grande Marina, which saw a major boom during the pandemic and continues to be a premier yachting jump-off point in the broader region.

The Government of the Virgin Islands also supports infrastructure on shore to maintain charter business interests such as an Economic Development Commission Tax Incentive Program for charter yachts. 

Charter company professionals, financial companies and Marine Expo vendors with global and local products will be on hand to talk about charter management opportunities in the USVI.

The latest models of top brands will be on site, including Bali, Lagoon, Fountaine Pajot, Leopard, McConaghy, Azimut and Boston Whaler, to name a few. 

Yacht buyers benefit from St. Thomas as a hub destination for transport ships delivering yachts from foreign manufacturing facilities. 

Attendees can walk the docks, tour the yachts, meet the professional crew and receive a fully immersive experience on board, with the opportunity to test-sail directly from the show berth through the scenic Charlotte Amalie harbor to world-class cruising grounds.

Daily yacht viewings combine with live music and cultural performances, starting with the Exhibitor’s Opening Ceremony & Reception on May 9, from 5-7 p.m.

VIBE and Cutlass & Cane, Yacht Haven Grande St. Thomas’ newest restaurant, have partnered to produce a curated Food & Wine Experience, with lunch served daily from 12-3 p.m. including wine pairings. 

Yacht Haven Grande is also home to Blue 11, which has been featured in the 50 Best Restaurants in the Caribbean ranking.

All attendees can also visit a variety of pop-up bars featuring many beverages distributed by West Indies Company, including St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands-made Mutiny Island Vodka, the world’s first and finest Island Vodka made from breadfruit and Caribbean rainwater and St. Thomas-crafted Leatherback Brewing Company’s products, which offers craft beer made with Caribbean-grown ingredients.

Harbor 360 at Yacht Haven Grande St. Thomas Open for Events

This St. Thomas landmark, which is situated on-water at the heart of IGY’s flagship marina, has been a work in progress for over a year and is now taking reservations for special events, parties and corporate functions.

“It has taken us 14 years to open this building,” says IGY’s Sales and Marketing Manager Tammy Gedman. “We decided to make it a place where everyone can hold their own special events, from weddings to baby showers and product launches to staff and crew reward days.

‘It’s a gorgeous space, with a fully fitted catering kitchen and a beautiful outdoor space which faces the open water and the yachts. It’s exciting to finally throw the doors open!”

An iconic landmark in St. Thomas

With its unique hexagonal design, vibrant red roof, and numerous floor to ceiling windows, the panoramic views are spectacular whether inside or out, making Harbor 360 the perfect space to entertain within this four-time award-winning Superyacht Marina of the Year. With 2,200 square feet of interior space, and a 2,100 square feet wraparound terrace, Harbor 360 can comfortably accommodate up to 250 guests.

“It was a blank space, so the build saw IGY installing everything that was required – a catering kitchen, a big dining area, a dance floor, a stage and rest rooms,” says Tammy. “It’s a truly lovely place to be.”  

“Pictures of St. Thomas have always featured that building so it’s already well known to people and this is a great opportunity to open it up to locals, visitors, marina guests and tenants,” she adds. “As far as location is concerned, there’s nothing else like it on the island.”

A versatile venue for all occasions  

As well as catering to large events, Harbor 360 can be partitioned to create a more intimate ambiance for smaller gatherings. “This is a venue that can be adapted and decorated in tune with every kind of event, from weddings and birthday parties to corporate team-building days and private parties for the yachting community,” Tammy explains. 

“Once you’re through the property’s main entrance, it’s a straight walk down the dock, so from a branding perspective too, we can build the anticipation, ensuring a grand entrance as soon as you set foot in Yacht Haven Grande. 

“Being located in the upland of YHG, clients also have access to everything they might need onsite, including salons and nine restaurants serving a broad range of cuisine from Caribbean to Japanese and Italian, as well as more casual dining options. 

“The convenience of having these restaurants just a walk away is hard to beat. There’s no event that wouldn’t work here, whether clients require cocktails and canapes on the terrace or fine dining inside.” 

“We’re receiving a lot of enquiries from local businesses and event planners, some of whom have popped in to have a look. There’s a huge amount of interest in it. 

“A couple of corporate parties are already planned and the final touches are now completed to make sure that when the first person walks in, it will be gorgeous.” 

Adding to the broad appeal of the USVI 

With Yacht Haven Grande St. Thomas attracting some of the largest yachts in the world, Harbor 360 is sure to appeal to owners and charterers as well as the local community who frequent the marina’s onsite restaurants and stores.

“There’s no specific crowd,” says Tammy. “YHG is often a first port for US entry so there’s a lot of traffic with boats fuelling and bunkering, and while you can’t compare it to Miami, St. Thomas is a lively spot combined with St. John, St. Croix and the BVIs, with short trips for different types of experiences really close by. 

“We also see cruise ship passengers coming in alongside yacht owners, captains, and crew, so it’s a very diverse area with thousands of people passing through each day. People are attracted to hold their events here because the team at YHG take such amazing care of them and the marina itself is highly secure and private.” 

Expanding the reach of IGY Media events 

Hot on the heels of  IGY’s new media events arm , which launched earlier this year, the opening of Harbor 360 puts St. Thomas on the map alongside IGY’s curated VIP events during the Miami F1 Grand Prix and Art Basel, and the renowned annual 007 themed party at  Monaco Yacht Show . 

“IGY is putting everything into building out its events offerings, with more added for 2024,” says Tammy. “We are also looking to create intimate VIP offerings within larger events, which will cater to our Trident Collective members. 

“It will be a big focus for us this coming year, as we continue to explore partnerships and collaborations with other companies to enhance and elevate the IGY brand.”

The world’s best superyacht marina is Yacht Haven Grande, St. Thomas located in the United States Virgin Islands.  The IGY flagship marina achieved this highest industry honor by being bestowed the Towergate 2021 International Superyacht Marina of the Year by The Yacht Harbour Association, and moreover is the only marina to have received this prestigious award a remarkable four times – in 2016, 2019, 2020 and 2021.

The Yacht Harbour Association is one of the oldest and most respected international yachting associations and partnered with Towergate Insurance to recognize the very best of marinas from around the world.  This outstanding achievement is made even more notable as Yacht Haven Grande, St. Thomas has received the honor for THREE consecutive years (2019, 2020, 2021) and despite the global upheavals of recent times.  The independently audited and customer voted award follows Yacht Haven Grande’s status as the sole Five Gold Anchor Platinum marina in North America, as well as the Western Hemisphere.
