13 yachts you shouldn't miss at the Antigua Charter Show 2023

With the Mediterranean season now shuttered, the Caribbean is beckoning. Specifically, the 62nd edition of the Antigua Charter Show , which year after year attracts an impressive selection of superyachts for charter . Compared to years past, the 2023 edition seems to have a larger inventory of high-quality yachts; BOAT spotlights some highly-anticipated attendees that will be on the docks between 4-9 December...

Builder : Lürssen Length : 95.2m

Espen Øino and Reymond Langton Design came together to create the award-winning Whisper (formerly Kismet ) for billionaire businessman Shahid Khan. With an art-deco main saloon that spans two floors, a Persian-inspired spa (featuring a dedicated beauty salon and onboard hairdresser) and a 12-metre swimming pool, it's no wonder the ex- Kismet was sold in as little as three months. Her last known asking price was €149,000,000.

Whisper is managed for charter by Y.CO .

Builder : Corsair Yachts Length : 90.1m

You’d be forgiven for thinking that she had been sailing the seas for centuries, but this motorised replica was actually delivered by her shipyard in 2007. After failing to find a suitable renovation project, British entrepreneur Neil Taylor commissioned Nero and modelled her after JP Morgan's 1930s steam yacht Corsair IV . She was finished just in time for her scheduled debut at the Antigua Charter Show – cutting it so tight that the crew were sewing cushion covers while crossing.

Nero is managed for charter by Burgess .

Maltese Falcon

Builder : Perini Navi Length : 88m

This entry needs little introduction. The late Tom Perkins spent nearly a decade masterminding Maltese Falcon , one of the most unique and technologically innovative sailing superyachts in the world. Kitted out with radical unstayed masts made of "weapons-grade" carbon fibre, a FalconRig and computerised sail and mast control system, she took a staggering six years to complete – and recently checked into Lusben for a full-scale refit that has left her in pristine condition for the new charter season. 

Maltese Falcon is managed for charter by Burgess.

Builder : Dunya Yachts Length : 72.5m

Axioma will be easily spotted at Nelson's Dockyard this year thanks to her sky-blue, Sterling Scott hull. Top features include "beach-house" interiors from the late Alberto Pinto , a spa, a private owner's deck, and a spectacular double-height saloon. For water babies on board, an infinity pool sits on the aft deck and a Jacuzzi with a swim-up bar can be found on the bridge deck. She's attending the Antigua Charter Show following her auction and subsequent refit.

Axioma is managed for charter by Camper & Nicholsons .

Builder : Feadship Length : 69.5m

Designed inside and out by Michael Leach , Firebird is the predecessor to Feadship's largest yacht to date – the 110-metre Anna . The yacht recently finished a comprehensive refit at the shipyard's Makkum facility, which included a 2.5-metre extension and a "totally new", split-level owner's cabin. Onboard features include a sundeck hammam and Jacuzzi, an open-air cinema and a dedicated dining room with a private balcony.

Firebird is managed for charter by Y.CO.

Builder : Rossinavi Length : 66m

Alchemy 's Vitruvius hull is instantly recognisable, taken straight from the drawing boards of Philippe Briand . She was designed entirely over Zoom, with an owner's brief that asked for "large al fresco spaces" and a "strong focus on wellness". The result is 330 square metres of outdoor space (made complete with a Jacuzzi) and an interior that houses a massage room with arched windows and "zen mood" marble walls.

Alchemy is managed for charter by Burgess.

Builder : Halter Length : 63.4m

S uRi 's claim to fame is a stint on the popular television show Deadliest Catch , where she was used as an Alaskan crabbing vessel. The vintage explorer has since undergone a series of refits, the most substantial seeing 11 metres added to her mid-body. Benefits of the extension included a larger al fresco dining area and a glass-enclosed guest lounge which can be opened up for the indoor-outdoor effect on balmy nights.

SuRi is managed for charter by Yachtzoo .

Builder : Royal Huisman Length : 57.5m

The show's second-biggest sailing yacht, Twizzle is debuting with a new owner and newer interiors following her refit by GCA Architects this year. She was launched with one of the most advanced sailing rigs ever created at the time, offering impressive performance in a fully custom package. In particular, she carries 1,780 square metres of sail – with both main and mizzen sails able to be hoisted simultaneously in under two minutes.

Twizzle is managed for charter by Camper & Nicholsons.

Builder : Perini Navi Length : 56m

Zenji is the second in her series and an active contender in the regatta circuit, including the St Barths Bucket and Perini Navi Cup. Her warm, American Cherry interiors were styled in-house while Ron Holland is responsible for her classic exterior. The need to store larger tenders is what resulted in her bow sheer's light kink, a feature that would go on to distinguish the first generation of 56-metre models. 

Zenji is managed for charter by Cecil Wright & Partners .

Builder : Heesen Length : 55m

New on the charter scene last year, Moskito 's "shark tooth" superstructure is owed to none other than Van Oossanen Naval Architects . Accommodation is for 12 guests across six Bannenberg & Rowell -styled cabins, while a generous 82-square-metres has been designated entirely for the master suite. Elsewhere, the 100-square-metre sundeck has alfresco dining and a Jacuzzi. For those playful charter days, the beach club with sauna and steam room has a plethora of toys to choose from.

Moskito is managed for charter by IYC .

Builder : Rossinavi Length : 48.2m

The second of the Prince Shark series, Parillion sports an athletic, sinuous profile by Enrico Gobbi . The sheltered sundeck crowns the yacht in more ways than one, featuring a bar, barbecue and 3.5-metre swimming pool with Murano glass tiles and cascading waterfall. A 2020 refit has left her with Swarovski-finished interiors  – of particular note is her chandelier which spans three floors.

Parillion is managed for charter by Edmiston .

Builder : Bering Yachts Length : 44.2m

The first in Bering's line of compact explorer yachts, Heeus is small but mighty with her high-latitude ice belt and generous fuel capacity of 95,600 litres. "Berings can reach virtually any point on earth that you can reach by sea," explained co-founder Alexei Mikhailov. "The concept is no limits; even the smallest Bering can cross the ocean." Onboard highlights include a 92-square-metre sundeck arranged with a Jacuzzi, barbecue and cinema screen and a beach club made complete with Hammam and steam shower.

Heeus is managed for charter by West Nautical .

Builder : Custom Line Length : 37m

Eros is the seventh entry in the Navetta 37 series, born from a long-standing collaboration with Zuccon International Project . The design's far-reaching appeal has cinched a further fourteen orders since the first hull, Euphoria , was delivered in 2016. Highlights of this particular model include five en suite cabins equipped with entertainment centres, a banquette that offers casual dining alongside lighter snacks and a sundeck Jacuzzi with a wet bar for poolside cocktail parties.

Edition 62 – A statement that explains it all! The ACYM has been in existence for a great many years and is without doubt the forerunner of every other yacht charter show around. The Antigua Show has evolved to embody all that Yacht Charter Agents, Captains and Crew require, enabling them to network together whilst experiencing the unique ambience that these extreme vessels have to offer, and indeed Antigua itself. The yachts on the dock in Antigua form the backbone of the Caribbean charter fleet and viewing is an essential cog in the wheel for any agent wanting to offer a vessel to a client with confidence, knowing that what he has seen, touched, heard and mentally experienced is the real thing, is up to date, and that the crew really are up to the tasks expected of them.

Since that first show, way back in 1961, the Caribbean charter industry has evolved significantly and many of the vessels that now charter have not only grown massively in size, but also in value. It is not unusual today to see yachts of 100m on the dock in Antigua, that charter out at colossal sums often running into millions of $ over extended periods. If you had a client willing to invest in a superyacht vacation, it has to make sense that their agent would view a vessel before recommending it to them, and at the Antigua show it is also possible to see what other vessels have to offer. Get it wrong and not only would the client never return, litigation could well follow, and as a plus, viewing these vessels is made possible within the historic backdrop of English Harbour.

But the past few years have been tough for the Antigua Show, and other similar shows, with fewer vessels on the docks. The cause without doubt has been the recent pandemic, added to which the cost of fuel that has risen sharply. With no 2020 event, the 2021 show had a massive decrease in numbers with owners not wanting their crews to catch Covid. 17 yachts turned out, strangely the vendors and agents enjoyed the compact gathering and the yachts and crew that braved the six days of course had the agents to themselves. 2022 saw 34 yachts attend and again the feedback was very positive. What have we instore for the 2023 event, no doubt more yachts, and now that individuals have regained their confidence to travel, the turnout of brokers and vendors is expected to also grow, hopefully back to those numbers that we had grown to expect.

As mentioned above, the recent 2022 event was attended by 34 yachts and some 300 agents from all corners of the globe. Nestled along the docks were many beautiful yachts such as the recently refitted Lurssen built, 72.54m M.Y. Coral Ocean, captained by Will Kaye and Dùghall macLachlainn. Also to be seen, the 96.23m Feadship M.Y. Faith, again with rotational Captains, Luke Humphries and Nicholas Long, and the 54.86m M.Y. After You, with Captain Wesley Kriedemann at the helm. Also in attendance, but not on the dock, we had the floating legend M.Y. Christina O, which at 99.06m was the longest vessel on display, the agents, and everybody else that wanted to get onboard, had to be ferried out to her at anchor, an adventure in itself.

There were, of course, also a great selection of sailing yachts, the largest being the Dubois designed Radiance at 36.88m, captained by Fabiano Capuccini, she was followed by the 30.48m Afaet with Captain Barry Duck in command. There were also an assortment of multihulls to visit, this fleet has grown massively over the years, due in part to their shallow draught, perfect for entering the many secluded bays and reefs that the Caribbean has on offer.

All of the major brokerage houses were represented, Fraser Yachts, Y.CO, Yachtzoo, The Luxury Yacht Group, Hill Robinson, Burgess, Morley Yachts, Ocean Independence, Northrop & Johnson, Nicholson Yachts, Worth Avenue Yachts and several more.

The show was spread over three marinas, Nelsons Dockyard, Antigua Yacht Club and Falmouth Harbour and there were many functions that took place. The Concours de Chef Competition, the Superyacht Charities Sundowners Evening, The Welcome Cocktail Networking Evening, the daily Informative Hour, The Start of the Season Party, Antigua Yacht Club & Falmouth Harbour Marina Night, various Seminars, The Nelson Dockyard Marina Night, The ACYM After Show Mingle and to end the show yachts could take part in The Sail Day and take their favoured brokers for a short trip out to sea. This is not to mention the great variety of onboard events, private dinners and parties staged by the Crews themselves.

As the industry gradually regains its confidence, it is felt that the 2023 show will return with more yachts, many more it is hoped, that will offer visiting brokers impressive viewing and networking opportunities. Above all this should allow them to recommend, with full confidence, those yachts that they discover here in Antigua to their clients, that is what a Charter Yacht Meeting is all about!

Following a hugely successful edition in 2023, the Antigua Charter Yacht Show looks ahead to another show packed with some of the most iconic Antigua yacht charters on the market. 

Marking the start of the Caribbean charter season, the next edition of the Antigua Charter Yacht Show is set to return from 4-9 December 2024 and stands out as a pivotal gathering in the industry. 

Spanning a week, this trade-only event allows brokers to thoroughly examine the attending yachts, delving into details about their designs, layouts, and amenities, while also meeting the captains and crew. Armed with this privileged insight, charter professionals are well-prepared to align their clients with their ideal crewed yacht charter .

Scheduled to return to the Nelson's Dockyard UNESCO World Heritage Site , the 2024 Antigua Charter Yacht Show presents an extensive agenda of activities to accompany the plethora of indulgent motor yachts which are dedicated to backing local charities and highlighting the mesmerizing coastline of Antigua along with its surrounding Caribbean neighbors like Montserrat and St Kitts and Nevis .

Every December, the beautiful Caribbean island of Antigua is inundated with luxury charter yachts for the Antigua Charter Yacht Show.

Known for hosting some truly phenomenal luxury charter yachts over the years such as 90m (296ft) luxury charter NERO from Corsair Yachts in 2023, the annual event knows how to showcase the best of the best with the highly anticipated Concours de Chef and Tablescaping competitions.

Pitting the best charter yacht chefs against each other, the competition is the ultimate test of skill and creativity with differing themes each year, which are then reflected in the accompanying tablescaping entries. The 2023 Concours de Chef and Tablescaping Competitions witnessed some staggering entries from all participating charter yachts with 89m (290ft) motor yacht SAMSARA winning Best In Show.

Antigua Charter Show 2023: Dates, Vessels, And Schedules

The annual trade-only Antigua Yacht Show is taking place between December 4th – 9th , at UNESCO site Nelson’s Dockyard , English Harbour, Antigua & Barbuda, West Indies. This event gives brokers a chance to explore the yachts in attendance to explore numerous charter yachts, their designs, layouts and facilities. As well as this, they will also meet their captains and crew. With this insider knowledge, charter professionals are better equipped to match their clients with their dream Superyacht.

In this article, we cover a selection of some of the most alluring yachts making an appearance alongside every event scheduled for the show. Take a look!

The Vessels Making An Appearance

1. maltese falcon.

The 88m Maltese Falcon is a pioneering sailing Superyacht masterminded by the late Tom Perkins and built by Perini Navi. Boasting unique features such as unstayed carbon fiber masts, FalconRig, and cutting-edge sail control, this vessel took six years to build. Recently revitalized at Lusben, it is now primed for the upcoming charter season, managed for charter by Burgess.

Crafted by Dunva Yachts and managed for charter by Camper & Nicolsons, the 72.5m Axioma stands out with its distinctive sky-blue hull. Its noteworthy features encompass “beach-house” interiors designed by the late Alberto Pinto, a spa, a private owner’s deck, and a breathtaking double-height saloon. Water enthusiasts onboard can enjoy an infinity pool on the aft deck and a Jacuzzi with a swim-up bar on the bridge deck. Following an auction and refurbishment, Axioma is set to make an appearance.

37m Eros is the seventh vessel in the Navetta 37 series, made by Custom Line and managed for charter by Fraser. Notable features of this model include five ensuite cabins with entertainment centers, and a sundeck Jacuzzi with a wet bar (perfect for cocktail gatherings).

4. Firebird

Designed both internally and externally by Michael Leach, 69.5m Firebird is the precursor to constructor Feadship’s largest yacht, the 110m Anna. Recently completing an extensive refit at the Makkum facility, it underwent a 2.5-meter extension and introduced a completely revamped, split-level owner’s cabin. Onboard attractions feature a sundeck with a hammam and Jacuzzi, an open-air cinema, and a dedicated dining room boasting a private balcony. Firebird is also managed for charter by Y.CO.

This one has a new owner and an even newer interior due to a refit that happened this year. It’s 57.5m long, built by Royal Huisman, and is the show’s second-largest sailing yacht. At the time of her launch, she had one of the most advanced sailing rigs ever created, and carries 1,780 square metres of sail. She is managed for charter by Camper & Nicolsons.

Tww yachts at the 2023 antigua charter yacht show.

Antigua Charter Yacht Show, running between 4 to 9 December 2023, is one of the most picturesque events in the superyacht calendar. Held in the Parish of Saint Paul at the UNESCO World Heritage Site Nelson’s Dockyard and Falmouth Harbour Marina, nestled within the lush south-eastern coastline of Antigua. Its setting is gorgeous and the line of superyachts never disappoints.

This year marks the 62nd anniversary of the Antigua Charter Yacht Show. The organisers have put together a strong agenda with plenty of daytime and evening events throughout the week. And, as always, there will be a concierge shuttle service between the two marinas.

TWW Yachts will present EMERALD, a stunning rebuild relaunched this year, alongside GREYB, a recent delivery from the disruptive catamaran builder Sunreef Yachts. Both yachts are available for charter year-round, cruising the Mediterranean in the Summer and the Caribbean in the Winter. We strongly encourage viewings for both yachts.

EMERALD | FEADSHIP | 50M | 467 GT

EMERALD is special. She blends the charm of a classic 1990s Feadship with the quality and comfort expected from a 2023 new build. Her rebuild was extensive, including a complete redesign and a hull extension, and took Balk Shipyard 16 months to complete.

This rebuild was a true passion project – and it shows. The level of detailing is astounding, her general arrangement is well-planned and designed incredibly around family needs. Her modernised interior is by Design Unlimited and Balk Shipyard preserved her classic De Voogt Naval Architects exterior lines.

EMERALD can comfortably accommodate as many as 12 guests, across six en suite staterooms. One of her many highlights is her sun deck which is not only generous in size but also a perfect area to host small functions.

GREYB | SUNREEF | 24M | 137 GTGT

The Sunreef 80 GREYB is a spectacular custom sailing yacht launched just last year. She’s sleek, refined and brimming with a wealth of amenities and a number of unique family-focused features.

GREYB is a voluminous 24m sailing yacht with a wide 11.5-metre beam that gives her the look and feel of a floating luxury penthouse. Her main deck is dedicated to conviviality. The main saloon is spacious, illuminated with natural light and home to a cosy lounge and a dining area for eight.

Sunreef catamarans are renowned for their generous exterior spaces – and GREYB is no exception. Bountiful lounging and dining areas are found on the aft deck and forward terrace, while the flybridge is perfect for informal and intimate gatherings.

GREYB has a four-stateroom configuration and can comfortably accommodate eight guests. Two symmetrical double suites are situated in the bow portion of each hull. The portside hull is also home to a children’s stateroom and the crew quarters. The owner’s suite is located starboard and features a king-size bed, a vanity desk, a pop-up TV, a walk-in dressing and an elegant en suite bathroom.

Antigua Charter Yacht Show 2023

Held at the iconic Nelson’s Dockyard, the Antigua Charter Yacht Show will return this year, from the 4th- 9th December 2023. This year will celebrate the show’s 62nd Anniversary.

The Antigua Charter Yacht Show (AYCS) is a remarkable event which honours a long-lived tradition of beauty, culture, rich history, and partnerships. Located on the sun-kissed shores of Antigua’s English Harbour, hundreds of visitors within the superyacht elite will gather to glimpse at some of the world’s most luxurious charter vessels.

Following the success of the 2022 AYCS, brokers, captains, vendors and press will all be looking forwards to return to the world’s largest multinational networking event. Showcasing the world’s finest charter yachts, the Antigua Charter Yacht Show attracts about 60 of the world’s finest charter yachts on the market. Last year saw Lürssen's CORAL OCEAN and the first Amels 60 COME TOGETHER as attendees.

The six-day schedule offers endless opportunities for visitors, from forging connections with industry professionals to the ‘Concours de Chef’, a themed competition for the chefs and crew to showcase their culinary skills to the yachting industry.

ACYM remains a true highlight of the show season; a spectacular opportunity for yacht lovers, brokers and crew to come together in the beautiful island setting of Antigua.

Superyacht REVERIE (ex. Picnic, Broadwater, Deja Vu, Sweet Pea, Blue Moon II) was launched in 2000 by the Royal van Lent Shipyard, known for keeping Feadship’s high standards of craftsmanship. She underwent a $12M refit in 2017, and more recently, a machinery and soft goods upgrade in 2022. Her reputation for superior performance, comfort as well as service, maintain her position for charter at the top of her class.
