First look: Inside Southern Wind's new 30m SW100X Allseas

South African shipyard Southern Wind has released new interior renderings of its 30.4-metre sailing series, the SW100X Allseas . 

The semi-custom series was first presented in March 2023 at a press conference in Cape Town and is now ready for carbon lamination, with the first available launch slot scheduled for the beginning of 2025.

Her exterior and interiors are owed to Nauta Design , with design highlights including a 20-square-metre seaside lounge and extensive use of glass windows and surfaces, "surpassing those found on any comparable sailing yacht". Farr Yacht Design is responsible for the naval architecture.

According to the yard, the design of Allseas is based on Southern Wind's original ethos of "all-seas fast cruising" but has been reimagined with a focus on the cruiser market. The aim is to replicate "the comfort of home in a worldwide cruiser", drawing inspiration from its SW100 series alongside the SW102, SW96 and SW105 semi-custom projects.

Thanks to the transversal orientation of the tender garage, the internal volumes have been optimised to achieve interior spaces typically associated with a 32-metre vessel. The interior design also utilises sandwich construction with honeycomb core to reduce weight while still maintaining a "superyacht finish".

Accommodation includes Southern Wind's charactersitic four en suite cabin layout, alongside a multi-purpose area that can be used as a television lounge, workspace, or bar. The full-beam owner's cabin forward features a centerline double berth with bedside tables and reading lights on either side. This is complemented by a chaise-lounge starboard, which could be replaced by a vanity desk. Crew quarters are "spacious and comfortable" with capacity for four people.

Nauta Yacht Design has been mindful of practicality when designing the interiors. As a result, the living spaces offer the possibility to mix in built-in and loose furniture, choosing different furnishing for bed frames, side tables and various accessories, giving "the perception of wider spaces and the pleasant feeling of being at home". 

Allseas ' brightest living space is the full-beam saloon, benefitting from 270-degree panoramic windows (installed in the newly-designed coach roof), oversized hull windows and a transparent, double-wide companionway. There is an optional central skylight available to invite in even more natural light. Arranged as the major conivial area, the saloon features an eight-person dining table and adjacent L-shaped seating area.

Allseas has a versatile aft deck with a waterfront relaxation area complemented by large sunbeds and a swim platform and there is tender storage hidden under the floor which can transversely store a Williams 435 tender. In total, this area covers more than 20 square metres. "The challenge to creating the seaside lounge was incorporating this with a garage," explained Andrea Micheli, Southern Wind's commercial director.

The model will be available with both hybrid and traditional propulsion packages and will feature a fixed keel or telescopic keel option, but not a lifting keel. It will have a four-cabin layout with a charter-friendly configuration. "[It] makes it a good proposal for dual charterers, as each family can be with themselves," Micheli noted.

This news follows the successful 7,500-nautical-mile maiden voyage of Southern Wind's sailing yacht Nyumba .
