Exterior design

Constructed for superior maneuvrability and balance, the mast has been moved aft slightly, allowing a full third of her length open to the cockpit. The electrically lowered swim platform, two sun pads and open deck plan are just a few of the opulent amenities. A choice of three unique keels and equipped with a D4 Performance Pack by world renown, Incidence Sails, the Oceanis 55 excels in power and performance. Twin rudders and ability to trim all sails from the dual helm make sailing this 55-foot vessel straightforward for any skipper with a little experience. 

Interior design

The open flow of the top deck is mimicked below with her 16-foot beam allowing choices ranging from three cabins and two heads all the way up to five cabins and four heads.  Her elegant, well ventilated interior, boasts a wide U-shaped galley, a sizeable dinette, a pop up flat screen television and maximized storage space. 

Modelling not only her elegantly designed interior but as well as functionality, the Oceanis 55 is encompassed by eight large windows, keeping below deck as bright as above.

Sunbathing areas

Combined with the cockpit’s L-shaped seats, the two sun-loungers on the roof cleverly provide extra places to relax outside. At anchor, the huge aft platform lowers to provide a terrace at sea level.

Eye catching with her bold taut lines and choice of personalized hull color, this vessel sets a precedent for stylish cruisers. 

Winches at the helm station

The unique design centers all the winches at the helm station so that all manoeuvers can be carried out alone. This is very reassuring on a 55 foot sailboat.

The fourteen berth version features a double fore cabin for the skipper, meaning that any crew configuration can be envisaged.

Seller's Description

Rosina is a beautiful example of the Knud Reimers designed Swede 55. Conceived as a fast ocean cruising boat, Rosina has outstanding speed in most conditions and is particularly fast and stable on a reach or downwind regularly seeing double digit speeds. Don’t be scared of the overall length Rosina is well behaved and loads are lighter than most big boats. She turns on a dime and is very responsive with a well balanced helm. Rosina is also a great cruiser the long overhangs provide ample storage space and the below decks layout is well thought out. The Swede 55 is one of the few classic fiberglass sailboats with a PHRF rating under 100. You get the elegance of a swept shear and long overhangs, but the performance of a much more modern boat.

Rosina has received extensive updating throughout the years and has spent 11 years in fresh water. Her beautifully updated mast, larger sail plan, mainsail track system and sail handling controls separate her from other Swede 55s.

The theoretical maximum speed that a displacement hull can move efficiently through the water is determined by it's waterline length and displacement. It may be unable to reach this speed if the boat is underpowered or heavily loaded, though it may exceed this speed given enough power. Read more.

Classic hull speed formula:

Hull Speed = 1.34 x √LWL

Max Speed/Length ratio = 8.26 ÷ Displacement/Length ratio .311 Hull Speed = Max Speed/Length ratio x √LWL

Sail Area / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the power of the sails relative to the weight of the boat. The higher the number, the higher the performance, but the harder the boat will be to handle. This ratio is a "non-dimensional" value that facilitates comparisons between boats of different types and sizes. Read more.

SA/D = SA ÷ (D ÷ 64) 2/3

• SA : Sail area in square feet, derived by adding the mainsail area to 100% of the foretriangle area (the lateral area above the deck between the mast and the forestay).
• D : Displacement in pounds.

Ballast / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the stability of a boat's hull that suggests how well a monohull will stand up to its sails. The ballast displacement ratio indicates how much of the weight of a boat is placed for maximum stability against capsizing and is an indicator of stiffness and resistance to capsize.

Ballast / Displacement * 100

Displacement / Length Ratio

A measure of the weight of the boat relative to it's length at the waterline. The higher a boat’s D/L ratio, the more easily it will carry a load and the more comfortable its motion will be. The lower a boat's ratio is, the less power it takes to drive the boat to its nominal hull speed or beyond. Read more.

D/L = (D ÷ 2240) ÷ (0.01 x LWL)³

• D: Displacement of the boat in pounds.
• LWL: Waterline length in feet

Comfort Ratio

This ratio assess how quickly and abruptly a boat’s hull reacts to waves in a significant seaway, these being the elements of a boat’s motion most likely to cause seasickness. Read more.

Sailboat Review: Rapido 40

In the great debate among sailors about what’s better—a monohull or a catamaran—both sides make compelling ­arguments. Monohulls are more efficient at going upwind. Their sufficient ballast ensures stability in a seaway. Some would say that a keelboat is just plain more exciting to sail. But cat lovers counter that they don’t care to “sail on their ear.” They’re willing to motor to windward if necessary, they enjoy the ability to pull up next to a beach, and they rave about the outdoor living space that two hulls afford. 

And then there’s the trimaran crowd, which, on a boat like the Rapido 40, gets the best of both worlds. Fast, flat sailing upwind and down? Check. Shallow draft for cruising in skinny water? Check. Lots of room to spread out on deck, and generous accommodations below for a cruising couple with kids or occasional friends? You bet.

The Rapido 40 is designed by the high-performance team at Morrelli & Melvin, and is built in Vietnam by Triac Composites. Rapido was co-founded in 2014 by Paul Koch and Richard Eyre. Koch is an old hand at trimarans—he was formerly president of Corsair—and he says that there is a market out there, albeit a niche one, for performance-oriented, oceangoing cruising trimarans. 

Rapido’s 40 is the smallest in a line that ranges upwards of 60 feet—its original model. Just sitting at the dock, the all-­carbon-fiber build is one sleek-looking boat. It has a rotating, spreaderless, double-tapered wing mast; a V-shaped boom; and a square-top main that’s paired with a versatile two-headsail sail plan. That sail plan includes a self-tacking jib for upwind sailing or days when it’s blowing, and a screecher set on a sprit. There’s also a continuous-line furler for off-the-wind or light-air conditions. 

Underway, that package provides plenty of horsepower, as my Boat of the Year judging colleagues and I would discover on Chesapeake Bay this past fall. It was a ride where we all vied for the dubious honor of top tiller hog.

In 10 to 12 knots with the small jib rolled out, we skipped along at close to 8 knots, according to the GPS. Things got really lively when we rolled up that sail and unfurled the big dog. Twelve knots and change was about top end for us in those relatively light conditions.

And boy, was the Rapido fun to sail! The boat has bench-style seats outboard to either side of the cockpit, so skippers can sit with the tiller extension in hand and legs stretched out, watching the world fly by. C foils in the amas are adjusted up or down depending on the point of sail; strategically placed electric Harken winches raise them, and gravity drops them down. Sheets and halyards can also be led to the winches, so, for a shorthanded crew, sailhandling—especially with the self-tending jib—is pretty simple.

A base model Rapido 40 runs just under $700,000, though the boat we sailed in Annapolis—with top-of-the-line North Sails, B&G electronics and a composting head—carried a price tag of $800,000 and change. Other options include a performance mast and electric propulsion. Lithium batteries are standard.

I’ve been on smaller tris, where the interior can feel cramped because of the relatively narrow beam of the center hull, but the 40 has more-than-adequate living space. An inline galley takes up the starboard side of the salon, with a dining table opposite. The raised cabin top and windows all around provide 360-degree visibility and 6-foot-6-inch headroom. Rear-facing ports are removable for ventilation and to provide better visibility forward from the cockpit. I liked the look of the carbon-fiber countertops and drawers, which felt light as a feather to open. And the composite work was clean as a whistle.

Beneath the cockpit, there’s a double berth that’s accessible through a cockpit hatch or from below. It would be a great place to stash the kids, and two single berths are an option. I’m told that in later models, the cockpit sole has been raised 3 inches, making the aft cabin that much roomier. The owner’s stateroom, with a double berth offset to port, is in a cabin forward of the salon, along with a head and shower.

Hulls and deck are foam-cored. The prepreg autoclave-cured components such as the bulkheads, boom, mast, C foils, structural beams and T-foil rudder are all made in-house. The main hull and amas (which fold in, reducing the beam from 28 feet, 10 inches to 19 feet, 3 inches) all have watertight bow crash compartments. The engine compartment, which houses a 30 hp Yanmar with a shaft drive, is also surrounded by watertight bulkheads, just in case.

Rapido US importer Bob Gleason—an experienced ­multihull guy and owner of The Multihull Source in Cape Cod, Massachusetts—had fit out the boat that we got aboard to keep the weight down. I still found it packed with all that I’d need for a comfortable getaway. Workmanship and equipment was ­top-notch, just as I’d expect on a boat built to go places.

Where to buy a home in moscow in 2024.

The growth in suburban house prices in 2021 can be as high as 15%. This prognosis was voiced by the participants of Moscow’s real estate market. Housing near Moscow has already gone up in value by 7%, and before the end of the year, this number is quite likely to rise by another 2–3%. The pandemic has changed the trends on the suburban real estate market – the current demand for detached houses is noticeably higher than before the global outbreak of Covid-19, and this naturally influences the cost of residential homes, say the experts. They also note that traditionally, the fall-winter period has always been considered a time of low demand for houses for sale in Russia; however, the opposite is now the case.

Here are the Moscow real estate categories to consider when buying a house in Russia:

• By direction and location (Rublyovka, Novaya Riga, Barvikha);
• By classification ( luxury , business class, economy);
• By development format (townhouses, detached private homes).

When purchasing homes in Moscow, Russia, a good rule of thumb is to select houses within an 18.6-mile (30 km) radius from the center of Moscow. This ensures you will get a well-developed infrastructure, and that the chosen location will be replete with hospitals and schools.

We recommend considering the West, South and North directions just out of Moscow. You may notice that country houses are noticeably cheaper on the capital’s Eastern side. However, this is due to poor environmental conditions – the result of the presence of a number of industrial facilities in the entire East area.

Best Cottage Communities in Moscow

Muscovites with high incomes live in closed elite cottage communities that have their own full infrastructure. Such cottage communities are usually designed by Europe’s best architects, especially contracted for the job. These locations have everything: private English schools, restaurants, shops, pools and gyms, beauty salons and equestrian sports clubs.

The most expensive houses up for sale are located in the Barvikha Hills area (Rublevka direction). This elite location near Moscow even has its own famous brand boutiques: Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, Rolex, Patek Philippe, Bentley, Ferrari and Harley-Davidson. The least expensive house here costs 1.5 million US dollars and has a floor area of 656 sqft (200 m²). This gated community is just 10-20 minutes by car away from Moscow itself.

We encourage you to consider some of the following elite locations as you decide where to purchase your ideal property: Etude Family Club, La-Mansh, Western Residence, Yusupovo Life Park, Odintsovo, Novaya Riga and Pirogovo. There you will find everything one requires for a comfortable life, at the price of 300 to 500 thousand US dollars for a residential home.
