Curlew Escape, is a large and luxurious  Bavaria Cruiser 45 luxury designed by BMW DesignWorks USA and architected by legendary naval architect Bruce Farr. 

Curlew Escape is very roomy with an overall length of 14.27 m (45‘) and a beam of 4.35 metres (14 feet). The upper deck has a large bench seating area in the cockpit, with full shade, plus an area to sunbake up towards the bow.

Curlew Escape is a Cruiser Racer. While extraordinarily comfortable due to her wide beam and high freeboard, she is also quick through the water and easy helm with her responsive dual rudders.

How much does a private yacht charter cost?

It only depends on the private yacht charter duration in hours. For example, we do from 2 hours to 10 hours for day charters. It does not matter how many guests you bring with you. 

What is a private yacht charter?

A private yacht charter is where you hire the whole yacht. Only the people you invite as guests are onboard with you, along with the crew.

How long does a private yacht charter take?

It depends on which cruise you select. We do from 2 hours to 10 hours and we do overnight and multi-day cruises.

How many people can I have on the private yacht charter?

You can have up to 12 people. The yacht is roomy and easily takes 12. We also do much smaller sizes with sometimes couples and smaller groups.

What if we have bad weather?

While South East Queensland enjoys great year-round weather we do have the occasional rainy day. We will happily reschedule your sailing day to avoid rain and bad weather.  

Can we do catering on our private yacht charter?

You can BYO or we have catering platters charged on a per person basis.

Can I BYO alcohol on our private yacht charter?

Yes, alcohol is BYO.

Will we be sailing on our private yacht charter?

Yes, we always sail whenever we have wind. 

What if it is too windy on the day of our private yacht charter?

We can adjust the sails in four settings. Reducing sail area reduces the wind force on the yacht. If a strong wind warning is forecast, we will contact you to reschedule.

What if the wind is blowing into our preferred destination on the day of our private yacht charter?

If the wind is blowing into your destination's anchorage at more than 10 knots it will not be possible to do watersports. Therefore we will either suggest an alternate destination or discuss a reschedule with you.

•  Time of Year – Firstly, know which time of the year you want to book a luxury boat charter on the Brisbane River. Weather plays a big part in the type of experience you are seeking. For instance, during peak summer, it’s often hot and humid, and rain can be frequent and heavy. During the winter, it is drier; however, the evenings can be cold. Fortunately, you don’t have to let the rain bother you too much. Our yacht has many indoor spaces for you to enjoy and the Sun Room and spacious Saloon are completely weather-proof.
• Food and Drinks – With our commercial-size kitchen,  you can hire a caterer and enjoy professionally-prepared dishes. Or, you can throw some snags on the BBQ and chat as you share a casual lunch together.  We have all the platters, plates and cutlery you could possibly require so there is no need to bring any plastic plates or utensils onboard during your luxury boat hire. 
• Time of Day – Do you enjoy the sunset and the stars or want a warm day for swimming and sun-bathing on the bow of the MV Baroness? You may choose to enjoy the sunset with bubbly and light snacks to watch the lights of  Brisbane City and sneak a peek inside the waterfront mansions as you cruise the river under the stars.  The MV Baroness is well-lit for socialising under the stars with twinkling bistro lights on the Bow and Back Deck.   
•  Swimming – Only on a day trip to Moreton Bay can swimming be permitted. The size of the MV Baroness makes it difficult to anchor too close to land so swimmers must be proficient.   The MV Baroness has a swim mat onboard and range of floatation toys for guests to enjoy.  There is also a HUGE water Trampoline available.  Ask our booking agent Janine about it.

Prices vary depending on a number of factors, such as on rental duration, activities on board, the destinations, as well as the number of people on board. Full day yachting itineraries are popular in Brisbane, with yachts that you can charter from 8 am to 4 pm. A full-day catamaran charter can cost around USD 3,000. For a 44.5-foot yacht that can accommodate 12 people, a full day charter can cost around $2,200, and for a 128-foot power yacht for a group of 12, it can cost between $90,000 to $100,000 for a week's charter.

When is the yachting season in Brisbane?

Brisbane has a subtropical climate and enjoys 283 days of sunshine and year-round warm climate. The Brisbane River enjoys calm cruising grounds all year long, but sunny weather is needed for ideal yacht charters to enjoy the plethora of water activities. The months of June to August consist of the winter season in Brisbane, which means it will be a little chilly. However, whale watching season starts in June, so yacht charters are also popular during the months of June to November for humpback whale sightings on Moreton Bay.

The months of September to November are the spring season, while December to January consists of the summer season. Both seasons are ideal times of the year for yacht charters in Brisbane. The months of April to May are regarded as the best time to enjoy the great outdoors in Brisbane since it is not too hot and not too cold, and just perfect for enjoying outdoor activities with warm and pleasant days.

Brisbane yacht charter for a day

A day yacht charter in Brisbane can take two forms: a full-day on the Brisbane River, or a day out in Moreton Island, which can be reached within 75 minutes. A day charter in the Brisbane River provides you with sightseeing of the capital city, where you can admire the scenic riverfront, from the Kangaroo Point Cliffs to the city Botanical Gardens. A full-day out on Moreton Island presents you with a myriad of activities: enjoying the sandhills, snorkeling, scuba diving, and plenty of outdoor adventures.

Brisbane yacht charter overnight

One of the most popular overnight anchorages in Brisbane is Horseshoe Bay in Peel Island, located south from Brisbane. Peel Island is a small, heritage-listed island and a National Park near Moreton Bay. It is popular among sailors and yacht enthusiasts as the bay is sheltered from the northerly winds. Kayaking, swimming, snorkeling, and hiking throughout the island are popular activities. And of course, an overnight yacht charter trip to Moreton Island is also popular. You can visit Peel Island on your first day, anchor on the bay for the night, then head to Moreton Island in the morning to spend a half-day enjoying the island, before making your way back to Brisbane.

Brisbane yacht charter for a week

With hundreds of islands around Moreton Bay and plenty of nearby destinations that are equally as stunning as Brisbane itself, a full week onboard your private yacht is sure to create a once in a lifetime Brisbane holiday. Here is a sample one-week itinerary for your Brisbane yacht charter:

Day 1 and 2: Moreton Island

The 3rd largest sand island in the world, the iconic sandhills are a definite spot to visit, which you can explore on a 4WD. Moreton Island is also an iconic spot to watch the sunrise, as well as humpback whale sightings from June to November. There's also a freshwater Blue Lagoon in the island's interiors, Champagne Pools, and the Tangalooma Wrecks, which is a cluster of 17 deliberately sunken ships. Other activities to be explored here are snorkeling, kayaking, and scuba diving.

Day 3: North and South Stradbroke Island

The Straddies, as locals like to call the islands, are the North and South Stradbroke Islands. North Island is the more popular destination, where wildlife can be seen, such as kangaroos, koalas, and wombats. It's also a popular place for its beaches, where you can snorkel and scuba dive, enjoy a game of beach volleyball, watersport activities, and just lazing around the sand. South Island is much less developed, which means it has more unspoiled scenery and tranquil activities to offer. You can bush walk through the island and discover a rainforest, freshwater marshlands, and wetlands.

Day 4: Peel Island

Visit Horseshoe Bay, Peel Island's most famous beach, and enjoy a day of swimming, snorkeling, and sunbathing. You can also kayak, and explore the National Park on foot.

Day 5: Brisbane River

Make your way back to Brisbane and enjoy what the Brisbane River has to offer, with sights and a charter to the different attractions in the city. If you wish for more remote destinations, the Gold Coast to the south of Brisbane is a great day or two of excursions, while the Sunshine Coast and Noosa Heads to the north of Brisbane are also great options.
