The 252-foot Silveryachts superyacht Silver Fast recently completed its maiden voyage, traveling 3,200 nautical miles from Perth to Sri Lanka. The yacht, built by the Australian shipyard Silveryachts, achieved an average cruise speed of 17 knots during the journey, though in ideal conditions the vessel can reach speeds as fast as 27 knots under power of its twin MTU 16V 4000 M90 engines. The shipyard says that this makes Silver Fast the fastest aluminum yacht of its size utilizing conventional propulsion. As further illustrated by its recent crossing from Australia to Europe in 21 days, Silver Fast is built for long-distant hauls. The shipyard says that the yacht has a range of 6,000 nautical miles when cruising at 14 knots.

With the yacht’s considerable size and sleek, svelte profile, the silver-hulled beauty was certainly one of the most noteworthy launches at the 2015 Monaco Yacht Show . The Monaco-based naval architect and designer Espen Øino gave the yacht an almost stealth look, but one with a magnificent sense of elegance and scale.

Silver Fast ’s interior, from the drawing board of the German design firm Vain Interiors, is also elegant and expansive. The owner’s suite includes a private lounge and large deck. Three VIP staterooms are on the main deck, while one double and three more twin cabins are on the lower deck. Beautiful anigre paneling and other wood detailing define many of the staterooms. The yacht is designed for 18 guests, with additional sleeping quarters for 18 crew.

One of the exterior highlights is the sundeck, which features an outdoor cinema and a glass-front, eight-person spa. The large beach club at the transom includes plenty of room for deck chairs and for launching water toys; an interior with a full spa area (a sauna, steam room, gym, and massage room); and a beauty salon. The aft deck also has a “winter garden”—a wraparound glass enclosure that allows the owner and up to 20 guests to dine outdoors, but in a space that can be heated or air-conditioned.

The yacht’s two 24-foot custom tenders, stored in a forward section of the hull with lifting gullwings, are designed for all-weather running. The bow helipad is suitable for helicopters that extend to the Augusta 109 or Airbus EC135. According to its sale broker, Burgess , the asking price for Silver Fast is about $85 million. On ideal conditions, the yacht can reach 27 knots under power of its twin MTU 16V 4000 M90 engines. According to its builder, Silver Fast is the fastest aluminum yacht of its size using conventional propulsion. Guests who need a little extra assistance can seek out one of the yacht’s 18 attentive crew members. And in the rare case an emergency arises, the boat can even accommodate a twin-engine helicopter on its landing pad.

One of the biggest selling points for the Silver Fast is its sleek and efficient design. The narrow beam hull and the twin 3,630hp MTU engines provide both fast 22 knots cruising speeds and fuel efficiency. The slender hull also provides vibration-free passage at speeds up to 20 knots, a great combination for those last-minute, late-night excursions. Silver Fast also has a shallow draft of only 2.6m, which allows it to travel in areas other similarly sized yachts cannot access.

Designed by naval architect Espen Oeino and Vain Interiors, the yacht was built by Silver Yachts in Australia and is being sold by superyacht brokerage firm Burgess Yachts. “This ground-breaking superyacht is a real head-turner and offers speed, efficiency and stylish luxury in equal measure,” said Burgess about its flagship superyacht.

To showcase the boat’s performance, Burgess recently sailed the Silver Fast from Perth to Sri Lanka as part of the yacht’s 3,200 nautical mile maiden voyage. During the trip, the boat traveled at an average speed of 17 knots and consumed 400 liters of fuel per hour. If you are interested in the Silver Fast, Burgess is selling the yacht for €79.5 million ($85 million).

There's a scene in Mission Impossible 3 that you might recall. In it, our hero Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) tackles the movie's villain, holds him at gunpoint, and forces him to read a bizarre series of sentences aloud.

"The pleasure of Busby's company is what I most enjoy," he reluctantly reads. "He put a tack on Miss Yancy's chair, and she called him a horrible boy. At the end of the month, he was flinging two kittens across the width of the room ..."

Let there be no doubt: CES isn’t just alive in 2023; it’s thriving. Take one glance at the taxi gridlock outside the Las Vegas Convention Center and it’s evident that two quiet COVID years didn’t kill the world’s desire for an overcrowded in-person tech extravaganza -- they just built up a ravenous demand.

From VR to AI, eVTOLs and QD-OLED, the acronyms were flying and fresh technologies populated every corner of the show floor, and even the parking lot. So naturally, we poked, prodded, and tried on everything we could. They weren’t all revolutionary. But they didn’t have to be. We’ve watched enough waves of “game-changing” technologies that never quite arrive to know that sometimes it’s the little tweaks that really count.

CES is more than just a neon-drenched show-and-tell session for the world’s biggest tech manufacturers. More and more, it’s also a place where companies showcase innovations that could truly make the world a better place — and at CES 2023, this type of tech was on full display. We saw everything from accessibility-minded PS5 controllers to pedal-powered smart desks. But of all the amazing innovations on display this year, these three impressed us the most:

Samsung's Relumino Mode Across the globe, roughly 300 million people suffer from moderate to severe vision loss, and generally speaking, most TVs don’t take that into account. So in an effort to make television more accessible and enjoyable for those millions of people suffering from impaired vision, Samsung is adding a new picture mode to many of its new TVs. [CES 2023] Relumino Mode: Innovation for every need | Samsung Relumino Mode, as it’s called, works by adding a bunch of different visual filters to the picture simultaneously. Outlines of people and objects on screen are highlighted, the contrast and brightness of the overall picture are cranked up, and extra sharpness is applied to everything. The resulting video would likely look strange to people with normal vision, but for folks with low vision, it should look clearer and closer to "normal" than it otherwise would. Excitingly, since Relumino Mode is ultimately just a clever software trick, this technology could theoretically be pushed out via a software update and installed on millions of existing Samsung TVs -- not just new and recently purchased ones.

Silveryachts in final stages of build for new 77m superyacht Silverfast

Australian yard Silveryachts is in the final stages of build for its biggest yacht so far, a Silveryachts 77 metre called Silverfast .

The Freemantle company is aiming to have completed the 77 metre superyacht for its first appearance at the Singapore Yacht Show next year. The boat would also be the Singapore show’s biggest ever yacht.

The superyacht has been designed by naval architect Espen Øino , who is the man behind much of the Silveryachts fleet. Behind the yacht’s notably sleek and aerodynamic exterior lies a claimed fuel efficiency that will allow her to complete the passage from Australia to Europe in just 21 days with a single fuel stop. Predicted top speed is 29 knots and she will have a range of 4,500nm at 18 knots or 6,000nm at 14 knots. The 77 metre superyacht will accommodate up to 16 guests, with an owner’s apartment that includes a lounge and large private deck beneath the sun deck.

Jona Kan, Director of Sales for Silveryachts, said, "The yacht is now in the final stages of construction and our shipyard is working hard to complete her in time to make her world debut at the Singapore show. We really hope she can be there, we are keeping our fingers crossed, and we have asked the organisers to keep a berth for her right in the heart of the show."

Kan continued, "The boat is a super-sleek, eco-friendly modern yacht whose construction and design give her ocean-going capabilities that push the boundaries of yachting. We believe that Asian yacht buyers will be impressed with the simplicity, efficiency and speed of our yacht."
