Built in 2014 and refit in 2017, Far Niente is a 130' Westport yacht complete with luxurious accommodates for 10 charter guests. There are five well-appointed staterooms complete with a full entertainment system and the ability to convert one of the twin stateroom to a king. This luxurious motor yacht spends winters in the Caribbean and is available for charter in the 2018/2019 season.

About Far Niente

Master stateroom:.

Main Deck, forward: Centerline king bed facing aft with two nightstands, dresser, vanity with mirror, safe, and his-and her-walk-in closets. The ensuite features a private head and bidet locker, a spacious shower, and twin sinks. Entertainment center with 42” Blu-ray TV, DVD/CD, iPod dock, and surround sound. There is a study adjacent to the Master Stateroom.

Jason started his life on the water at the age of 5 racing small sailing dinghies. After racing for a number of years he taught these skills at the Olympic sailing school in Wales. At the school, he passed his Master of Yachts unlimited and with such credentials was able to join the Americas Cup Yacht, Stars & Stripes. With a passion for travel, working on superyachts seemed a natural progression. Since then he has worked on multiple yachts and has 17 years of experience in the industry.  

As a captain, he oversees every aspect of the yacht’s operations ensuring safety at all times and a comfortable cruising experience. He is adept at crew relations, continually maintaining a strong team environment to create the most memorable and service-oriented experience for the guests.

Jason would like to take this opportunity to welcome you aboard M/Y Far Niente and introduce you to the rest of the crew:

1st Mate: Quentin Wilson

Brought up near the water, Quentin found his passion for the ocean at a young age and followed his goal to work and live on the water. He has over four years’ experience in the boat building industry having worked for Fanatix in Cape Town, South Africa. Quentin is a keen and experienced diver, completing dives in the Caribbean, Pacific, and Mediterranean.

Hobbies: Scuba diving, Spear Fishing, Motorcross and Motorsport

Chef: Simon Brown

Previous Yachts: S/Y Irelanda, M/Y Rahil

Simon is from Melbourne, Australia. He has been working as a chef for over 20 years in some of Australia’s premiere restaurant’s and his cooking covers a broad range of cuisines, with a strong focus on client satisfaction. While not from a yachting background he has worked in the industry for a number of years on both sail and motor yachts and has developed a real passion for the sea.

Hobbies: Diving, Mountain Biking, Reading

Chief Stewardess: Chelsea Dwyer

Chelsea was born in Massachusetts and later moved to Wisconsin where she grew up. After attending Ripon College and completing her degree in biology and environmental studies, Chelsea moved to sunny Florida to begin her career in yachting. Coming from a long line of seafarers, both her father and grandfather being yacht captains, a career on the water had always been in mind. Chelsea has extensively cruised the Bahamas, Caribbean, and the New England Coast over the past 8 years, exploring each port with a passion.

She strives to make guests happy by providing the best quality service and experience for them. She offers the highest standards in all aspects of the interior and service. Chelsea is always eager to assist you in every way and to ensure the best yacht vacation possible.

Hobbies: Reading, hiking, yoga, exploring new places and meeting new people.

2nd Stewardess: Melanie Hittrich

Melanie is a Business School graduate from beautiful rainy Vancouver, Canada. She is fairly new to the yachting world, beginning less than one year ago, but has been in the hospitality industry her entire working life and thrives in excellent customer service. Being able to combine her love for traveling the world and creating unforgettable guest experiences, makes her a valuable crewmember as Second Stew onboard M/Y Far Niente.

Deck/Stew: Jessica Rowe

Jessica was brought up in the English countryside in Hampshire and was schooled at a Naval College in Berkshire, Pangbourne, before studying Hospitality at Oxford Brookes University. From a young age, Jessica has had a passion for outdoor adventure and has traveled to various countries to explore adrenaline-fueled activities. Before yachting Jessica has worked in a broad range of professions, some of which include; gymnastics coaching, sports photography and chalet cook/hostess.

Jessica is new to the yachting industry having started less than a year ago, however, is keen to gain knowledge and experience over time, and to make everyone’s experience a memorable one onboard Far Niente.

Chief Engineer: Stephen Eyssen

Stephen was born in the Cape Winelands and grew up in the small coastal town of Stillbay. He loves and respects the ocean, surfing, and sailing from a young age. Stephen was schooled and apprenticed in boat building and elements of yachting design and gained valuable knowledge and skills working for well-known companies. After his studies Stephen started his yachting career, eventually going to sea as an engineer in the superyacht industry. He has now been sailing in waters like the Bahamas, Caribbean, Florida/West Coast USA/Alaska/Canada, Mediterranean, and Indian Ocean/East Coast, South Africa for the last four years and currently upholds his MCA Y4 engineering license. As Chief Engineer onboard M/Y Far Niente, Stephen performs daily operations and maintenance for the safety of the vessel and smooth sailing.

Hobbies: Surfing, sailing, snorkeling/diving, wakeboarding, downhill skating, wine tasting, traveling and exploring.

Built with a GRP hull and GRP superstructure, with teak decks, she benefits from a semi-displacement hull to provide exceptional seakeeping and impressive speeds. Powered by twin diesel MTU (16V2000 M96) 2,600hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 15 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 24 knots. Her water tanks store around 2,955 Litres of fresh water.

The most attractive features of FAR NIENTE are her generous space and inviting socializing areas. FAR NIENTE spends the winter season in US Virgin Islands. She was delivered by the well-known ship builder Westport in 2014. An elegant refit was completed in Annually. The ingenious yacht layout features 5 generous cabins and easily accommodates a maximum of 10 guests.

FAR NIENTE is classified as a superyacht. The key part of the boat -inviting aft deck, elegantly connects to the well-equipped and inviting main saloon. After racing for several years, he taught these skills at the Olympic sailing school in Wales. At the school, he passed his Master of Yachts Unlimited and with such credentials was able to join the America’s Cup Yacht, Stars & Stripes. With a passion for travel working onboard super yachts seemed a natural progression. Since then, he has worked onboard multiple yachts and has 23 years of experience in the industry. As Captain, Jason oversees every aspect of the yacht’s operations ensuring safety at all times and a comfortable cruising experience. He is adept at crew relations, continually maintaining a strong team environment to create the most memorable and service-oriented experience for the guests. After finishing high school, Peter decided to try his hand in the service industry and began working in fine-dining restaurants as a waiter, where he quickly climbed the corporate ladder and landed himself in management positions. After spending his early hospitality years overseeing the operations of various restaurants and nightclubs, he decided to venture into restaurant ownership with his childhood friend, and they found themselves opening a Portuguese restaurant called ‘Cescos’. After four years of growing and nurturing his business, Pete decided to explore his ever-growing interest in the yachting industry. He packed his bags and moved to South Florida, the yachting hub of the world. After 3 years working his way up in the industry, Peter proceeded to Captain several successful charter boats, such as ‘Arioso’, ‘Unforgettable’, ‘Lady J’ and ‘Mystic’. He currently holds his MCA Master 3000 and has been running motor yachts for the last 14 years, traveling extensively along the East Coast of the US, Bahamas, Caribbean and Mediterranean. She has been in the industry ever since, 13 years now and counting. She gained extensive experience as a Dockhand at a marina and from working at a boat and jet ski rental company. From there, she decided to take her career further and worked onboard a dive boat while obtaining her Captain’s license. He spent four years in a Merchant Marine School, after he graduated in 2015 he started his internship onboard commercial boats for one year while traveling around the Pacific side of Mexico and South America. After that he got his engineering ticket and moved into the yachting industry in 2017. Hobbies: working out, chess and reading. CHIEF ENGINEER (ROTATION) Marco Tostado | Mexico Previous Yachts: Fountainhead (288’), El Rey (115’), Moon Goddess (115’) Marco was Born in Tampico, Mexico. But settled in Mazatlan Mexico. Shortly after receiving his diploma from the culinary institute Lausanne, he decided it was time to expand and start his career as a qualified chef. Rico followed his passion for food around the world, working in many European countries as well as Brazil, Tokyo and Australia to name just a few. He was driven by this untameable hunger and constant need to discover new flavours and spices within different cultures. Once Rico discovered the yachting industry, there was no looking back, he eventually found himself working on mega yachts in the Caribbean. He has resided on the Caribbean Island of St-Martin for 12 years, where he is happily married. Rico is happy to share his knowledge and passion for the culinary arts with his guests should they wish to ask for him it not only about being a chef and preparing meals, it’s way more than that. It’s a lifestyle, taking the best of what Mother Earth provides him with, in all its beauty, adding his knowledge, passion heart and soul and creating exceptional cuisine. The expenses, such as provisioning, fuel, marina fees, are deducted from the APA. The APA is based on the price of the yacht and ranges from 15% (crewed sailing yachts) to 30% (motor yachts with higher fuel consumption). You can actively control these expenses in your preference sheet (local vs. imported beverages) and by choice of itinerary (distances traveled). Moonen motor yacht Far Niente sold

The 25.76 metre motor yacht Far Niente , listed for sale by Cornelius Gerling and Antonio Yturbe Redo at Edmiston & Company , has been sold with Lars Bjorklund at Ocean Independence introducing the buyer.

Far Niente was built in steel and aluminium by Dutch yard Moonen to Lloyd's class with exterior styling by Rene Van Der Velden and launched in 2006. She has had the same owner since new and has never been chartered. A true ‘pocket superyacht’, Far Niente has interior styling by Art-Line incorporating an open-plan main saloon with free-standing furniture, a dining area, bar and full entertainment systems, while up top her flybridge is ideal for al fresco entertaining with a dining table, barbecue, wet bar, sunpads and a Bimini top providing welcome shelter from the sun.

Accommodation is for eight guests in in four cabins consisting of a master suite, VIP suite and two twin cabins plus two Pullman berths for children, all with entertainment systems and full en-suite bathroom facilities.

Powered by twin Caterpillar 3406E DI-TA engines, Far Niente  has a top speed of 12 knots and an impressive range of 2,800 nautical miles when cruising at nine knots.
