Crew’s Cup Lounge Overview | Disney’s Yacht Club Resort Dining

Facebook

Located next to the Yachtsman Steakhouse, this cozy lounge offers a delightful nautical retreat for guests seeking a quieter, more intimate dining experience.

Dining Overview

3 glasses of wine from Crew's Cup Lounge

Crew’s Cup Lounge encapsulates the essence of a New England-style yacht club. The moment you step inside, you will be greeted by a charming ambiance reminiscent of a vintage boating club, complete with nautical decor, warm wood finishes, and brass accents. The dimmed lighting and comfortable seating create an inviting atmosphere for guests to unwind after a day of adventure at the parks.

The real star of the show at Crew’s Cup Lounge is the food. While it may be labeled as a lounge, the menu goes beyond traditional bar fare.

Guests can start their culinary journey with appetizers like the Truffle Fries or Lobster Bisque. For the main course, options range from a hearty 14-oz Roasted Prime Rib to a lighter Steakhouse Wedge Salad.

In terms of beverages, the lounge boasts an extensive list of wines, beers, and specialty cocktails. After-dinner flights are available for both Bourbon or Scotch, offering a taste of 3 different brands each.

Crew’s Cup Lounge combines the sophistication and elegance of a high-end yacht club with the laid-back comfort of a lounge. Its diverse menu, inviting atmosphere, and impeccable service make it a must-visit spot for any Disney vacation!

Review: The Crew’s Cup Lounge at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

By AJ 12 Comments

We are stopping into The Crew’s Cup Lounge for a light bite!

Located in Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, The Crew’s Cup Lounge is a wonderful little spot to take a breather and beat the heat for a bit. In fact, if you’re ever looking for me and I’m not wandering the parks with my camera, I’ll most likely be in a Disney resort lounge somewhere hiding in the blessed coolness.

This spot has a surprisingly awesome menu (dinner’s pretty darn fancy, even), a great staff, and a relaxed atmosphere. I headed in for lunch on a recent trip after arriving from the airport famished!

The Crew’s Cup Lounge is tucked into the hallway between Disney’s Yacht Club and Beach Club Resorts. It’s easy to miss if you aren’t paying attention.

See what I mean? There’s no flash here, folks. It almost feels like a private club. And that definitely enhances the relaxing atmosphere.

Entrance

Step inside and you’re surrounded by the same decor you see elsewhere in the resort — lots of light-stained wood everywhere, from floor to ceiling.

You’ll find comfortable seating throughout the fairly small space. The wooden chairs are generous and cushioned, making them perfect for lingering.

The bar is tucked into one corner of the room.

Since there’s no outside light here, surroundings are a bit more dim than they are in lobby area; but it’s by no means dark. You’ll have no trouble reading your menus. 🙂

But while you’re looking up at the lights, check out the brass surround depicting — what else? — rowing. The rowers are sculling along a smooth river, their perfect reflections mirrored in the water below. Don’t you love the detail? Well, we aren’t finished yet!

Check out the racing shell suspended from the ceiling! That big “window” is a view of the Yachtsman Steakhouse meat cutting room; the Crew’s Cup is often a waiting area for those awaiting their table at the restaurant.

Rain slickers hang from pegs along the wall, adding a little color to the space.

Now that we’ve had the tour, let’s get to the important stuff — the food!

Dishes here tend to cycle in and out, so you may even encounter the same or similar items when you visit.

Menu Cover

It was five o’clock somewhere, so I decided to start my meal with a new selection from the standard Disney Cocktail Menu — the Pineapple Caipirinha .

Menu Description -- Click to Enlarge

Menu Description — Click to Enlarge

Having tried the Frozen Caipirinha at the Brazil Marketplace during the Epcot Food and Wine Festival , I figured this one would be a hit. And I was right! With a blend of Leblon Cachaça, Agave Nectar, Pineapple, and Lime , this potent drink packs a SERIOUS punch. Like…so serious that I couldn’t finish it. Well poured, Crew’s Cup bartender; well poured!

Pineapple Caipirinha

I decided we couldn’t pass up something salty to complement the tropically sweet drink, and the Hand-Cut Truffle Fries were calling my name! Crew’s Cup and Captain’s Grille both have these awesome fries. Rich and crisp with a fluffy center, they’re a must-try. I get them every time.

Fries

House-Cut Truffle Fries

The Fries are served with a Roasted Shallot Mayonnaise . I’m not a big mayo fan (this you know) but the extra flavor punch from the sweet Shallots made this dip an entirely different matter. It was fabulous.

Remoulade

Roasted Shallot Mayonnaise

And hooray for one of my favorites — Buffalo Chicken Nuggets ! Boneless Pieces of Breaded Chicken Breasts are doused in traditional spicy Buffalo Sauce . They’re served with creamy Blue Cheese and Carrot and Celery Sticks . I can’t help but get these every time they’re on the menu somewhere.

Boneless Buffalo Wings

Buffalo Chicken Nuggets

I know…not an original, but you just can’t beat Disney Chicken Nuggets — especially when they’re Buffalo style! (Note that Crew’s Cup uses the same kitchen as the Yacht Club room service, so these will be the same bites you’ll get when you call the room service line.)

Next, I couldn’t pass up the Lobster Roll . Served with your choice of Vegetable Orzo Salad or Fries , I opted for the latter.

Lobster Roll and Fries

The sandwich was prepared in the traditional manner. Big chunks of tender Lobster Meat were dressed simply with a Mayo-based Dressing , and piled onto a Roll , which had been split, buttered, and grilled . The grilled Lemon Wedge was a nice touch, too.

Currently, the Lobster Roll has been replaced on the menu with New England-style Lobster Sliders . They’re basically smaller versions of the Lobster Roll.

The sandwich was perfect, and capped off another great experience at Crew’s Cup Lounge.

After all that? Definitely time to head to Beaches and Cream for a No Way Jose, right? ;-D

No Way Jose at Beaches and Cream

With all of the restaurants in Disney World, you might be tempted to pass right by bars and lounges like The Crew’s Cup. But that would be a mistake. If you haven’t taken in snacks and drinks, or even a meal, at Crew’s Cup, I can definitely recommend that you do it. Not only is the food consistently great, but the atmosphere is a great respite from the crazy of the parks — especially during the day. Let’s be honest: it’s getting hard to find places in Disney that aren’t crazy crowded. To be able to walk in, get a table, and enjoy a meal in peace and comfort could be just the thing to revive your tired vacation spirits.

Whether you’re ducking out of Epcot for a quiet respite, you’re meeting friends for drinks, or you’re looking for a great meal on arrival day, check out Crew’s Cup. They haven’t failed me yet!

Is The Crew’s Cup Lounge one of your favorite go-to spots at Disney like it is for me? Let us know your thoughts in comments!

Crew Cup Lounge is a family favorite for a quick service meal when we stay at Yacht Club. It’s fabulous.

Although…the last time I was in there, Aaron Rodgers broke his collarbone and nearly derailed the beloved Packer season. So I might have to shy away from there on gameday to avoid a jinx!

Looks great, AJ! How have the prices changed since your last visit? I nearly ate there on my last visit for a quick lunch, but ultimately decided my group would prefer Hurricane Hannah’s prices instead. Too bad, as I was looking forward to the lobster roll!

Love the Crews Cup – spent a few afternoons & evenings there during our 3 weeks at the Yacht Club last month.

Curious how the lobster roll here compares to the one offered at the Boardwalk Bakery? The BF wants to make it a point to grab one at the Bakery on our next trip in December…but that was mostly because we weren’t sure where else it was offered. We’ve never eaten at Crew’s Cup so I may suggest this instead. Are the comparable?

Crew’s Cup is my all time favorite go to spot for a late night drink/snack after I’ve tucked my family into bed after a long day of fun in the parks. The food is awesome, the drink are top notch and Bill is a fantastic, super duper bartender. I stayed @ the Yacht Club for 8 nights this past August and had a ton of fun in this lounge. Bonus – they take Tables In Wonderland, ka-ching! 🙂

Beaches and Cream is my go to stop after (really any meal nearby)… Is it true they aren’t accepting any walk ups anymore though? Only reservations? That will certainly make impromptu stops for the best sundaes in DW difficult..

One of the best resort lounges on property. It’s really a toss up between Territory Lounge at the Wilderness Lodge, The Crews Cup, and California Grill.

And I’m not counting Top of the World until they change their DVC member’s only policy.

The top 50 most exclusive yacht clubs in the world honored with platinum status.

Royal Yacht Squadron in England

The rich and famous are not merely looking for the best place to anchor their yachts; they are also seeking out exclusive memberships in stunning destinations, all offering luxury amenities and, of course, bragging rights. These exclusive yachting clubs with often outrageous initiation fees, provide luxurious clubhouses, and provide accommodations for yachties who want to get their land legs. Most of them provide high-end concierge service to its members as well as Michelin-star quality restaurants and more.

Yacht Clubs have been recognized in the Platinum Clubs of America elections for more than 20 years. According to the Platinum Club, “Recognition in the following categories is important in the selection of Platinum status; Tradition, history, and heritage, a respected membership, excellence in amenities, exceptional service, adapting to changing times, and overall experience.

I spoke with the President of Club Leaders Forum, David V. Smith, about the selection, and he says, “we created an alphabetical selection this time as opposed to by rank because we felt that it was challenging to compare a yacht club in Ireland with a yacht club in Singapore, as amenities, location and facilities do vary quite a lot. The yachting and boating world is a different and unique culture, typically a little more relaxed and not as formal as country clubs and golf clubs. However, many of the world’s finest yacht clubs have wonderful history and traditions, with a great sense of camaraderie among their members. Certain yacht clubs were selected by the Panel not necessarily for their facilities and amenities but in their recognition of hosting world class sailing regattas and events.”

Here are the top 50 most exclusive yacht clubs worldwide being awarded the ultimate Platinum Status for 2021.

Annapolis Yacht Club

Surrounding the Spa Creek Bridge in Annapolis, the Club boasts over 75 wet slips and dry dockage. The club began in 1886 as an informal canoe club, and today has 1600 regular members active in social, racing, and cruising programs.

Why Crew’s Concacaf Champions Cup matchup with Monterrey is a Massive moment in Club history

crew's cup yacht club

The Columbus Crew are a club of firsts. The first team in MLS. The first soccer-specific stadium. The first to have a second soccer-specific stadium.

You get the point.

Well, get ready for another massive first for the Crew.

For the first time in club history, the Black & Gold will be playing in the Concacaf Champions Cup semifinals on Wednesday night when they face CF Monterrey at Lower.com Field.  Don’t miss your chance to witness this massive moment  live and in person, as the Crew face Monterrey in the first leg of this two-leg semi.

Massive Moments: MLS champs vs. Liga MX powerhouse

CCC_SF_Players_Videoboards_1920x1080

Head coach Wilfried Nancy is all about being present in the moment and appreciating opportunities when they’re presented. With that in mind, Wednesday night’s matchup is what supporters dream about.

The Crew are the reigning MLS Cup champions, and with two titles within four years, they’re the top dogs in Major League Soccer. They set the standard.

Monterrey does the same in Mexico.

Rayados  are the five-time Liga MX champs. They eliminated the Crew from this competition in the 2021 quarterfinals, and in the last two rounds, they’ve pummeled FC Cincinnati – the Supporters’ Shield winners – and Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami CF – the reigning Leagues Cup champions.

But how do they compare with the best club in MLS? Crew supporters will have the privilege of finding out, beginning on Wednesday night.

Getting Here: Columbus’ path to the Concacaf Champions Cup semifinals

CCC_SF_Social_29Years_1920x1080_ALT

The Black & Gold have made a little history along the way.

In addition to being the last MLS team remaining in the 2024 competition, the Crew became the first MLS team in the tournament’s history to eliminate a Liga MX club after hosting and not winning the first leg of the series, as well as the first to win a penalty shootout against a LIGA MX side in Mexico.

That happened Apr. 9 against Tigres UANL at Estadio Universitario in San Nicolás de los Garza, Mexico – another Liga MX heavyweight in one of the continent’s hardest places to play.

But Crew fans have made Lower.com Field a fortress, too.

Entering Saturday night’s league matchup against the Portland Timbers, the Black & Gold are unbeaten in their last 21 league matches inside the soccer cathedral. In this competition, they’ve already produced positive results against Houston Dynamo and Tigres – so the expectation is that continues thanks to the best fans in MLS.

The last MLS team standing

CCC_SF_Social_OnlyFour_1920x1080

It’s only right the last MLS side remaining also won MLS Cup, right?

The Crew are MLS’ lone side, as three Mexican teams fill out the other MLS semifinal places. In addition to Monterrey, CF Pachuca and Club América are competing on the other side of the bracket. The winner of that two-leg playoff will face either the Crew or Rayados.

Columbus fans should be quite familiar with Club América, who the Black & Gold battered, 4-1, in the 2023 Leagues Cup group stage last season at Lower.com Field. Cucho Hernández scored a brace, while Christian Ramirez and Steven Moreira also provided goals.

“Showcasing Columbus” through Concacaf Champions Cup

Back in February, team president and general manager Tim Bezbatchenko said the Crew would be using its Concacaf Champions Cup appearance as a chance to showcase Columbus to the world. Of course, he said it’s also a chance to win another trophy and championship.

Well, the stakes have never been higher for the Black & Gold, who are in the semifinals for the first time in the team’s 29-year history. A massive result in leg one on Wednesday could pay dividends and help the side advance to the Concacaf Champions Cup Final for the first time.

The Crew have proven their supremacy in MLS, and everyone knows Columbus is the Heart of American soccer. Now, you have a chance to witness history and attend one of the biggest matches in club history – and that’s not said lightly.

The Black & Gold are on one of the biggest stages in club soccer around the world. It’s only fitting that stage will be right here at Lower.com Field on Wednesday night.  Come watch the show.

Crew continue historic run in 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup

by Kellyanne Stitts

The Columbus Crew continue their historic run on the international stage, welcoming CF Monterrey to Lower.com Field in the Concacaf Champions Cup semifinal round Wednesday night. (WSYX)

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — The Columbus Crew continues its historic run on the international stage. The club advanced to its first-ever semifinal berth in the Concacaf Champions Cup after a shootout victory over Tigres on the road.

The club became the first MLS team to advance to the next round over a LIGA MX club after hosting and not winning the first leg of the series.

ALSO | What is Concacaf?

“Based on the last two games we’ve had, we’ve built confidence to go anywhere and play against anyone and get a result,” Crew defender Malte Amundsen said.

The Crew host LIGA MX’s C.F. Monterrey on Wednesday at 8:15 p.m. in the first leg of the semifinal series.

Monterrey is no stranger to the big stage. The club is a five-time Concacaf Champions League winner. Monterrey is ranked third on the league’s Clausura table, earning only one point in the last three LIGA MX matches.

“I’m not competing against [the] Mexican league," Crew head coach Wilfried Nancy said. "I’m competing to be good and to accept the challenge that we’re going to face. [They] are a good team, but we’re also a good team with lots of humility. We’re going to make mistakes like they’re going to make mistakes. The idea is to be good on the pitch at the right moment.”

The Crew is the only MLS team remaining in Cup play after the NE Revolution and Inter Miami lost in the quarterfinals. The black and gold are on a quest to earn a berth in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, which will be played in the United States.

Tickets are still available for Wednesday's semifinal match at Lower.com Field.

“Today is an important step in the commissioning process for American Magic and B3,” American Magic skipper and president of sailing operations Terry Hutchinson said in a statement. “Our shore crew and engineers have been working methodically over the last 30 days to get us to this moment.”

For the unversed, the AC75s that will compete in the upcoming America’s Cup are the most complex and technologically advanced racing yachts ever built. The highly engineered foilers “fly” across the water at up to 50 knots. Crafted from lightweight carbon fiber, the racers are capable of lift in just 6.5 knots of wind but strong enough to survive an extreme crash in 25 knots.

The B3 will undergo further testing and sea trials in the coming months before her official naming ceremony and inaugural sail. American Magic will then set its sights on the upcoming America’s Cup Preliminary Regatta. The first two preliminary regattas of the AC40s were held in September and November, respectively. (American Magic actually won the September race.) The third and final preliminary regatta, which will take place in Barcelona from August 22 to 25, will see all six AC75s compete for the first time.

Columbus Crew embrace challenge vs. CF Monterrey in Champions Cup semis

As the last MLS club left standing in the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup , it might seem like the Columbus Crew face serious pressure.

That's not how they're necessarily looking at it, head coach Wilfried Nancy said before Wednesday's CCC semifinal Leg 1 against CF Monterrey at Lower.com Field (8:15 pm ET | FS1, TUDN) – even after Rayados already eliminated FC Cincinnati and Inter Miami CF in the competition.

"This is not a test for my team," Nancy said. "This is an opportunity to get better again and to keep doing what we do against a different style of play. There is no test with my team. The only challenge that they have is to be better than they did before.

"Last year we played [Club América] but at home, and this year we played Tigres but away," Nancy added. "Every time that you do something, you repeat some good habits. So now they are ready to compete. So for me, this is the most important. Club América, Tigres, semifinal, the idea is to go as far as possible and to embrace this challenge."

The Crew punched their semifinal ticket via a quarterfinal upset of another Liga MX power in Tigres UANL. They completed a historic result along the way, winning in penalty kicks at Estadio Universitario after the series finished in a 2-2 aggregate draw.

The Crew are looking to become just the second MLS club to win the modern version of the continental tournament, with Seattle Sounders FC the first in 2022. Accomplish that and they'd book a spot in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

"It's a pleasure. Like I said before, we don't have a normal life," Nancy said. "And tomorrow, I told them today and also in the past, I want them to just enjoy these moments. I know that they want to compete, I know that they want to win the game. I know that they want to do well.

"But for me, the most important is to enjoy the situation," Nancy noted. "We’re going to play in front of our fans and it's going to be really important that they're going to push for us. I know that this is not a medals game, but this is a really important game, not for us, but for the culture."

Getting the series off to a positive start in Leg 1 will be key, defender Malte Amundsen said. Columbus and Monterrey meet again on May 1 (Leg 2) at Estadio BBVA with a spot in the June 2 CCC final on the line.

"I think we've shown in the past period now, no matter what happens in the games, we are going to do everything for this club and for these fans and for ourselves ultimately," Amundsen said. "We enjoy the fans, we love rolling into the game seeing all the fans there. Really trying not to take that for granted because the fans are so important for us."

Local News | Famed 125-mile Newport to Ensenada race brings legacy, competition and fun on the water

crew's cup yacht club

The winds were strong, the weather favorable and the competition on the water was fierce for the iconic Newport to Ensenada International Yacht Race.

An estimated 146 boats departed from the start line off the Balboa Pier on Friday, April 26, for the 125-mile jaunt now in its 76th year. About 20 boats were signed up to do a shorter course that ends in San Diego.

Sailboats start the 76th Newport to Ensenada International Yacht Race...

“It looks like it’s going to be one of those banner years, really good wind for about 95% of the race,” Newport Ocean Sailing Association commodore Philip Herzfeld said ahead of the start, noting winds were predicted in the 15- to 22-mph range. “There will be a lot of boats finishing early this year.”

The Newport to Ensenada race has a rich history in Southern California, starting in the late ’40s, long before many of the nearby harbors existed and just as yacht clubs were forming and the sport of sailing was growing along the coast. The Newport Ocean Sailing Association created the event to promote the sport of ocean racing and the city’s growing harbor.

In the ’80s, the Newport to Ensenada was touted as the world’s largest international race, with more than 600 yachts entering annually. Among the racers were famous celebrities including Humphrey Bogart, Walter Cronkite and Roy Disney.

Participation has dropped in recent years, but this year saw an upward trend in boat participation since before the pandemic, an increase of about 6%, Herzfeld said.

While organizers haven’t had a chance to analyze why the increase, visits to various yacht clubs up and down the coast in recent months drew enthusiasm from not just long-time Newport to Ensenada racers, but newbies wanting to do the famed race for the first time, he said.

While most boats are from California sailing clubs, several entries came from out of state, including two from Oregon and Mexico, another from land-locked Arizona and a racer from Ontario, Canada, who is competing for the eighth time.

“We get boaters from all over,” Herzfeld said.

The race draws a mix of serious sailors who race multi-million-dollar yachts, alongside weekend warriors who sail decades-old boats, with vessels ranging from small 29-footers to massive 85-foot yachts.

Spectators gathered on the Balboa Pier Friday morning with binoculars and cameras ready to capture the stunning sight on the sea as the boats with their bright sails readied to take off toward the border.

“It’s a phenomenal sight to see all these boats, the mix of large and small, the different colored sails and boat designs and shapes,” Herzfeld said. “It’s really a unique sight.”

For the first few hours, boats race near one another, but as they get into the open ocean boat drivers have to strategize, like deciding whether to sail inside or outside of the Coronado Islands, said Herzfeld, who did his first race in 1986.

“I love the fact that every time I do it, it’s completely different and I never know what to expect,” he said. “I always end up meeting great people and having a great time.”

Longtime Long Beach boater Mike Whalen is no stranger to the race, first joining as a young teenager on his father’s boat.

Now 70, he’s raced on boats that vary in size, sailing in several different classes through the years. But one thing, he said, has remained the same: The thrill of racing on the open ocean.

“I really just love the freedom of it, you get out there and you’re doing all the work,” he said. “There’s no motor.

“I’m not a great sailor, but I just love it,” he said. “I love the tactics and all the other things involved in racing. You make really good friends for life, it’s fun.”

This year, Whalen is racing the Ramble On for the second year and expected, like most other years, he and his crew from the Shoreline Yacht Club will end up in the middle of the pack.

Back when Whalen first started, Ensenada was a different place, he said, more rural and not as developed, with just one or two hotels at the finish line.

“I had never gone that far anywhere before, really, especially on a boat,” he said of his younger years. “Even though it’s not that far, it’s another culture.”

Whalen started racing with a few older friends, he said, forming bonds and friendships through the years.

“I think that’s why I do it, I have a lot of friends I get to see who want to sail together,” he said.

Some of those friends have passed on through the years, and at some point during the race each year, the crew will lift glasses to toast to their memories out at sea.

“They are all a part of making you a  better sailor, and making you a better friend,” Whalen said.

The most memorable races are the really windy one, like three years ago, he said. “It was blowing really well, so a lot of times were set.”

For Whalen, it’s not about setting records or finishing first, he said, it’s about the journey.

“We try to sail the best we can, but our average age is 60 to 65, so you have some younger guys who take more chances,” he said. “We’re not really big risk takers. We do everything slow.”

Last year , Rich Festa earned three perpetual trophies in his class – all of which were destroyed in a fire in December at the California Yacht Club in Marina del Rey, where they were on display.

“It’s quite heartbreaking,” said Festa, who is racing the 46-foot Groundhog Day. “These trophies, as well as others, had a lot of history. One of them started in 1942, there was a lot of big names on these trophies over the years.”

Festa hopes this year he can earn another trophy, but regardless, racing the Newport to Ensenada is a good time, he said.

If wind predictions held up, many of the boats are expected to hit the finish before midnight, Festa said.

“We’re at the bar having a drink before they close,” Festa said. “This is just a quick jaunt down the coast and we all know we are going to have a good time when we get to Ensenada. There’s so many boats involved in the race, we all run into each other when we get on land, it’s fun to see people and enjoy their company.”

Where to watch Columbus Crew vs Montreal live stream, TV channel, lineups, prediction for MLS match

MLS Cup champion coach Wilfried Nancy welcomes his former club to his current home in Ohio.

The Columbus Crew hosts CF Montreal on Saturday night, April 27 at Lower.com Field in downtown Columbus, Ohio. It's the first matchup of the season between these two Eastern Conference foes.

Nancy and the Crew have been managing the roster while the team continues to play in the CONCACAF Champions Cup in addition to MLS play. The Crew are the final MLS team left in the competition and earlier this week, they beat Monterrey, 2-1, at home in the first leg of the semifinal.

With the second leg coming up next Wednesday, there's a possibility that Nancy could rest some stars against Montreal. We may see Sean Zawadzki, Taha Habroune, and Derrick Jones all make starts.

Montreal meanwhile has just 11 points from their first eight MLS matches and has lost three-straight road matches. This could be their chance to turn around their road fortunes and get back into the playoff picture.

What time is Columbus Crew vs CF Montreal kickoff?

This MLS regular season match kicks off from Lower.com Field on Saturday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m. local time in Columbus, Ohio.

Here's how that time translates across all of the time zones in the United States:

Columbus Crew vs CF Montreal  lineups, team news

Coach Wilfried Nancy has almost a full roster available for this match, though striker Christian Ramirez is still out with an injury. With a 2-1 lead over Monterrey ahead of the second leg, we could see players like Aiden Morris, Darlington Nagbe, and Cucho Hernandez getting a rest in this match. Even if he doesn't start, 18-year-old Taha Habroune is one to watch for the future.

Columbus Crew projected starting lineup (3-4-2-1): Schulte (GK) — Moreira, Cheberko, Amundsen — Farsi, Jones, Zawadski, Sands — Habroune, Yeboah — Russell-Rowe.

Columbus Crew subs (9):  (Lineups released one hour prior to kickoff)

Despite their struggles this season, Montreal has picked up four points from their last two games, with four goals scored in that span. Without Matias Coccaro and Josef Martinez , Mason Toye stepped up and scored a goal as did Ariel Lassiter , son of former U.S. Men's National Team star Roy Lassiter.

While Coccaro will be out long term, Martinez could return this week, which is a big boost for Laurent Courtois' squad.

CF Montreal projected starting lineup (3-4-3): Sirois (GK) — Campbell, Waterman, Sosa — Ruan, Piette, Choiniere, Edwards — Toye, Martinez, Lassiter.

CF Montreal subs (9):  (Lineups released one hour prior to kickoff)

Columbus Crew vs CF Montreal prediction

This match comes at a tough time for the Crew. With so much focus on Wednesday's second leg in Monterrey, it's one of those trap games where the Crew could lose focus and end up losing at home. However, Nancy's side is unbeaten in 20 matches at home and should have enough talent, even with some rotation, to take care of Montreal.

Prediction:  Columbus Crew 2-1 CF Montreal

Pursuit of Mundial de Clubes 25™ place heats up for Concacaf trio

Club America, Pachuca and Colombus Crew all hoping to join the list of teams to have qualified for the inaugural tournament in the USA.

Columbus Crew and Mexican duo Club America and Pachuca can still qualify

All three feature in Concacaf Champions Cup semi-final first legs this week

Final Asian and African qualifiers could be decided in coming days

Columbus Crew (USA) and Mexican duo Club America (MEX) and Pachuca (MEX) continue their quests to qualify for the inaugural Mundial de Clubes 25™ (FIFA Club World Cup 2025™) this week as they head into their Concacaf Champions Cup semi-final first legs, while the final qualifiers from Asia and Africa could be decided.

Concacaf Concacaf

Monterrey (MEX) make up the final four in this season’s continental competition, but by virtue of being 2021 champions, they have already secured their place at next year’s 32-team tournament in the United States. To join them, the equation for the other three semi-finalists is simple, though far from easy: they have to win the Concacaf Champions Cup this season. Given there is a two clubs per country limit, and that Monterrey and Club Leon (MEX) have already qualified as champions, there is no opportunity for America or Pachuca to qualify via the ranking pathway . The country limit does not apply to continental champions, however, so either of the pair will qualify if they lift the trophy this season, which adds extra spice to Tuesday’s first leg at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.

crew's cup yacht club

The same goes for Columbus Crew, even if fellow MLS outfit Seattle Sounders (USA) are the only American club already assured of their place. The Crew’s difficulty comes in that they cannot make up the points gap in the ranking pathway to another MLS side, Philadelphia Union (USA), who are the highest-ranked non-Mexican team. With only four places available to Concacaf teams, the Crew need to get past Monterrey and lift the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup. For the Union to qualify, they need Monterrey, who travel to Columbus for Wednesday’s first leg, to knock the Crew out and then go on to win a sixth continental crown. That will open a FIFA Club World Cup 2025 qualifying place via the ranking pathway which only the Union can claim.

Al Ain (UAE) have put themselves in a strong position to progress to the AFC Champions League final and kept their hopes of reaching the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 on the boil with a 4-2 semi-final first-leg win over Al Hilal (KSA). The duo meet again in Riyadh for the second leg on Tuesday with Al Ain knowing they need to go through and then win the continental title for only the second time in their club’s history to qualify for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.

crew's cup yacht club

As 2021 Asian champions, Al Hilal already have their ticket for the USA. If they win a fifth title this year, they would open up a second qualifying spot from the ranking pathway: Jeonbuk Motors (KOR) would be the happy beneficiaries. Now ahead of Jeonbuk Motors in the ranking are the team that knocked them out of this season’s AFC Champions League in the quarter-finals, fellow Korean outfit Ulsan HD (KOR). They go into Wednesday’s semi-final second leg against Yokohama F. Marinos (JPN) 1-0 up on aggregate. That triumph guaranteed them a place via the ranking pathway at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 whatever happens in the rest of the competition. Yokohama can still join them at the tournament, but need to become Asian champions for the first time in the club’s history to do so. If Yokohama and Al Ain reach the final, Jeonbuk would be eliminated, as either of the finalists would take the final FIFA Club World Cup 2025 qualifying place by winning the competition. Should Ulsan and Al Hilal be the final line-up, as they already have their FIFA Club World Cup 2025 places secured, Jeonbuk would be through too.

ES Tunis (TUN) have closed the gap on CAF Champions League semi-final opponents Mamelodi Sundowns FC (RSA) to five points in the ranking pathway after a 1-0 win at home to the South Africans in Saturday’s first leg. Should the Tunisians win Friday’s second leg too, they would overtake Mamelodi and secure the one guaranteed spot available to an African team at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 via the rankings.

crew's cup yacht club

Both teams will qualify for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 regardless of the result of the second leg if Al Ahly SC (EGY), who have already qualified as the current African champions, eliminate TP Mazembe (COD) in the other semi-final. That would open two qualifying places via the ranking pathway. The pair head into Friday’s second leg all square after Saturday’s first leg in Lubumbashi ended goalless. TP Mazembe need to win the competition to qualify and deny the loser of the ES Tunis - Mamelodi Sundowns tie a place in the USA next year.
