The Lekker 44, a brand-new model, is being added to Lekker Boats’ fleet this summer. Regardless of the weather, this seaworthy speed demon is ideal for multi-day excursions. The Zeelander Z72, which debuted in March 2019, is the largest Zeelander model to date. Together with Cor D. Rover, the Zeelander in-house design team produced the yacht’s striking appearance.

The vessel offers a contemporary interpretation of traditional elegance by fusing Superyacht finishing with Zeelander’s iconic distinctive S-shaped sheer line. It can reach a top speed of almost 40 knots with three 1,000 horsepower IPS 1350 engines, whilst being quieter than many smaller models. The fastest superyacht tenders in the world

Technohull sea dna 999 (81 knots).

Speed is serious business among yacht makers, with several yards vying to create the world's fastest superyachts , and it's only fitting that your tender should be able to keep up with the mothership.

Blowing the competition out of the water is the latest model from Greek boatbuilder Technohull. The Sea DNA 999 is a 10.3 metre RIB tender with a claimed top speed of 81 knots, as proven by her recent sea trials. This means owners can cruise from Athens to Mykonos in less than two hours — ideal for a speedy weekend getaway.

This staggering performance is possible thanks to a deep V hull slicing through the water and either twin 400hp outboard engines on the back or a sleeker 530hp inboard set-up (pictured above), which is still good for 63 knots flat out. The Sea DNA 999 is offered in three bow configurations: cabin, open and delta — the latter of which is ideal for relaxation, with sunpads covering the entire area forward of the helm position.

SV Alpha (78+ knots)

Launched at the 2017 Miami Boat Show and billed as "the world's fastest luxury yacht", the 11.7 metre SV Alpha has a claimed top speed in excess of 78 knots. This speed machine gets its power from a pair of 700hp Mercury Racing SCI engines paired to SSM6 surface drives, although a more sensible twin 520hp version is also offered.

Premium features include bespoke sunpads, a champagne cooler, underwater lighting and a high-end stereo system. Ideal for daytime entertaining, the SV Alpha can carry up to 15 guests on the ride of a lifetime.

Midnight Express Quintessence43 (78 knots)

For a long time, sticking three outboard engines on the back of a centre console boat was a big move in the horsepower game, then came the five-engine Midnight Express Quintessence43.

Powered by a quintet of 400hp Mercury outboard racing engines, the Quintessence43 flies by at a whopping 78 knots (90 mph).

Thanks to a twin-stepped hull design, she gets up onto the plane quickly for added comfort and a smooth ride at such high speeds, as shown in this video of the new Midnight Express Quintessence43 , making her a great fast superyacht tender choice.

Goldfish 23 eFusion (47 knots)

As well as being one of the world’s fastest superyacht tenders, the Goldfish 23 eFusion is part of a fast-growing trend for electric tenders .

Powered by a 194hp UQM electric motor, this 5.5 metre Scandinavian speedster boasts a twin stepped hull that can achieve a hair-raising 47 knots.

Castoldi JT21 (40.5 knots)

Italian jet drive specialist Castoldi knows a thing or two about speedy superyacht tenders, and the 6.24 metre Castoldi JT21 is the fastest in its collection, driven by a 260hp Yanmar engine to a top speed of more than 40 knots. The central helm position leaves room for up to 12 guests sitting forward and aft, while the jet drives are not only safer for watersports and swimming, but they also reduce the risk of running aground in shallow waters.

For a fast yacht tender that is also undeniably beautiful, look no further than this limo tender by Hodgdon Yachts .

The award-winning limo tender to Feadship yacht Sea Owl has been customised to match the yacht and is as detailed as her highly bespoke mothership.

One of the top superyacht limo tenders , she offers comfortable indoor seating for trips to shore, getting there quickly thanks to a top speed of 40 knots (46 mph).

Iguana 29 Exclusive (40 knots)

Not only does Iguana Yachts' Iguana 29 Exclusive comfortably reach a top speed of 40 knots (46 mph), but it can do something that few fast superyacht tenders can.

The luxury-packed Iguana 29 Exclusive amphibious superyacht tender goes from ocean running to driving right up on land, thanks to a rugged set of "arms" that drop down from her hull sides.

XTender 9.3 Custom Limousine (39 knots)

This 9.3 metre tender is an all-Dutch affair — designed in collaboration with naval architects Vripack and built in Almere by XTenders. Used as a tender for a 83.5 metre Feadship superyacht, this sleek design packs a punch, with an impressive 39 knot top speed out on the open water.

Key features including a rising coachroof and bimini that can covert the XTender 9.3 from a flat-out speed machine into an elegant limousine for carrying guests ashore.

Invictus 280GT (38 knots)

The 9.25 metre Invictus 280GT superyacht tender is fast, and with lines by designer Christian Grande she is also super stylish.

Her x-bow cuts beautiful shapes across the water as she rides at speeds up to 38 knots (44 mph), propelled by a 320hp Volvo V8 sterndrive diesel engine.

Grande aimed to pack big amenities into the small package, so despite coming in under 10 metres, she still offers ample sunpads, a galley with fridge and a V-berth and toilet in the cabin.

Wider 32 (37+ knots)

The Wider 32 might have been designed to match the new Wider 165 flagship , but she is also an ideal standalone day boat.

She has a surprisingly spacious cabin hidden inside with two sofas that are convertible to beds and a fully stocked galley.

The Wider 32 can also be customised to match the yacht she services, seen on the water in a variety of colours already including orange, white and green. Best of all, this yacht tender is fast, hitting speeds of more than 37 knots (42.5 mph) when Boat International sea trialed the Wider 32 last year.

9.4m/31ft I.C Custom Limo Tender

Representing a one off design from Zuccon International Project, this limousine tender to the 85m/279ft luxury Lurssen yacht SOLANDGE has all the bells and whistles, and then some.

With capacity for 12 guests plus driver, along with a top speed of 40 knots, she cuts a fine figure in the water as she transports her guests in quick time to the harbour.

Her interiors are the epitome of luxury and elegance, with parallel leather sofas and teak finishes, stunning wraparound windows offering fabulous views, air conditioning, electric windows, light dimmers and impressive sound system. The illustrious Sam Sorgiovanni penned this limousine tender design, which follows two previous collaborations with 89m/290ft Oceanco superyacht BARBARA ’s owner, marking a truly bespoke handmade product of the highest quality and representing 33,000 man hours to completion.

With subtle geometric styling in leather, stone and wood grain finishes, this luxury limo tender is a master-class of bespoke luxury combined with phenomenal performance. With a maximum speed of 35 knots, guests can sit back and relax with a glass of bubbly as they are whisked across the waves.

Tenders in a nutshell

A tender is a boat that services a larger vessel (referred to as the mothership ). It can take many forms and deliver a wide range of conveniences.

Historically called ‘ship’s boats, ‘ tenders have supported large vessels for centuries. They have been used for guest transfers, refuge boats, landing crafts, stowed on deck or towed astern—little has changed!

Whilst the vast majority of tenders employed by smaller yachts are typically rigid inflatable boats, the modern-day superyacht considers a multitude of vessels indispensable.

Hull categories

We’ve been specialising in building boat tenders for over a decade, yet with such a degree of cross-over and with a seemingly endless request for custom configurations, categorising tenders remains a challenge.

Nonetheless, at the top-most level, we categorise all tenders under one of the following three hull types:

Fully Inflatable A lightweight vessel relying solely on inflation for buoyancy.

Rigid Inflatable A vessel with a hull constructed from rigid materials such as aluminium or fibreglass, supported with an inflatable or foam collar for added buoyancy in high seas.

Rigid A fully rigid hull without a buoyancy collar of any type.

What is an open tender?

An open tender is principally a single-deck boat with no enclosed cabin. Chiefly a guest transfer boat with ample seating both forward and aft, open tenders are day boats without accommodation above or below deck.

While we see many open tenders dedicated to guest transfers, by their very nature, they can also incorporate centre console boats, some dive boats, landing crafts, and even limousines.

What is a chase tender?

As the name suggests, a chase tender—which can also be an open tender—follows the mothership.

Chase boats can take on many guises since their main attribute is size. As a result, they are generally not stored on board but instead towed astern.

Often very angular in design, with excellent seaworthiness, chase boats need to be able to withstand the rigours of being towed by the mothership. Whilst a lot of large chase tenders can be operated entirely independently, towing very long distances (such as transatlantic) is not advised.

What is a classic tender?

Tenders with the hallmark of classic design are styled with an exquisite, continuous line from the head to the heel.

Echoing the lacquered freeboards of a Riva Ariston or the flawless veneers of a Hinckley picnic boat, a modern classic from the likes of J Craft or Wajer will feature a gracefully tapered form, avoiding right angles altogether.

What is a foiling tender?

Combining thrust with lift (as an aeroplane does), high-speed tenders have the opportunity also to become airborne.

Less drag, higher speeds and lower energy consumption are the key advantages, although from a guest comfort perspective, being elevated above a big swell scores very highly.

What is a catamaran tender?

Largely associated with utility boats, catamaran tenders (not to be confused with catamaran sailboats) present superyacht owners with a number of major advantages over their mono-hulled counterparts.

Favoured as a utility vessel, a twin-hulled catamaran can be built much wider than an equivalent-length vessel with a mono hull. It offers increased stability and, therefore, a more comfortable ride in bigger seas. Thanks to a smaller surface area, there’s also less drag, which results in faster speeds and higher efficiency.

What is a dive tender?

We build tenders optimised specifically for scuba diving, however, given the range of crossover in the market, the likes of amphibious boats, beachlanders, some centre consoles, landing crafts, open tenders, RIBs and utility boats can also work perfectly well for diving.

Storage, floor space and, most importantly, the convenience of easy access to the water are key attributes of a versatile dive boat tender.

The right tender for the job

So far we’ve categorised our tenders — now to define which tender is best suited to which scenario.

Amphibious Tender

Sharp stones, steep drop-offs, inclement weather, and changing tides needn’t worry your crew when you have the luxury of an amphibious tender. Visit almost any secluded cove or spit with virtually no risk of becoming stranded or beached.

Go where other boats simply wouldn’t dare, landing on shorelines in rough breaks and on rugged terrain. Be sure to do your homework, though, as most beaches and marinas will require permission to stroll out the sea on an amphibious tender.

Beachlander Tender

We are all about time spent on the water, but the sensation of stepping off a tender onto the warm sand is in itself a joy to behold. We don’t mean clambering over the side of a rib and bouncing awkwardly into the shallows. We mean stepping from a dry boat onto dry sand.

Whether you intend to spend the day in your swimmers or are off for an island excursion, getting wet feet before you begin should be a choice.

Classic Daysailer

Built a short distance upriver from SYTT, the Spirit R30 is a daysailer that marries cinematic elegance with unparalleled craftsmanship. Born from the same yard that graced the silver screen in iconic Bond films such as Casino Royale and No Time To Die , this 9.2m yacht epitomises timelessness with its exquisite wooden construction. Small sailing boats like the R30 can be de-rigged and stowed, nestled within a yacht’s garage or gracefully perched on deck.

Center Console

Synonymous with the Florida Keys, the traditional centre console (or center console in the US), is typically a single-deck boat with the helm in the middle.

Geared towards recreational fishing, the centre console maximises the floor space while, crucially, allowing for full access around all sides of the boat. On smaller boats, seating is often sacrificed for floor space, while larger centre consoles fitted with cabins creep into the Sports Fisher sector.

Not intended to be an especially dry boat, both crew and guests are often exposed to the elements. The upshot is that centre consoles and, more so, sports fishers, tend to offer huge power, which is especially useful for long day trips from the mainland.

High-performance

‘Go-fast’ boats, as the name suggests, are built exclusively for speed. More commonly known as ‘cigarette boats’ due to their shape, go-fast boats are not for the faint-hearted.

A craze immortalised by the Cigarette Racing Team, modern-day cigar boats can achieve speeds of over 100 knots. Largely impractical as a conventional superyacht tender, the range of high-performance boats have thankfully branched more into Centre Consoles. In turn, this presents superyacht owners with a high-performance chase boat of an almost unimaginable spec.

Landing Craft

A vessel with a very military feel, a landing craft tender is designed to carry everything, including vehicles, from yacht to shore.

With our ROAM Landing Craft, a button-operated super-strength bow ramp enables drive-on, drive-off capabilities, ideal for disembarking heavy items where lifting facilities are not available at shore.

A range of 6-14m and accommodating up to eighteen guests in consummate luxury, a fully enclosed guest cabin will often mirror the furnishings of the mothership.

Picnic Boat

If leisure cruising and lunching were your only pursuit, you’d surely have a picnic boat. The quintessential day cruiser, a picnic boat is unequivocally designed for rest and relaxation on the water.

Inspired by the lobster boats of Maine, where the sloping rails from bow to stern made it easier for lobstermen to haul in their traps, the symbolic Picnic Boat represents everything exciting and romantic about a day out on the water.

Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB)

The workhorse tender of any yacht is the Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB). Robust, versatile, and highly manoeuvrable, RIBs typically offer speed, buoyancy, and good handling on high seas.

A foam or inflatable collar provides extra buoyancy in the event of taking on water, while in the case of RIB boats —which have a high deadrise—also acts as a spray rail for keeping the deck dry. Popular with superyachts, RIBs can be towed or stowed and used for a wide range of purposes.

Nothing allows us to explore an affinity with water quite like the experience of wakeboarding, wake surfing and water skiing.

SOLAS Rescue Tender

✓ Rigid Inflatable ✓ Inflatable ✓ Stow

In accordance with the International Convention for Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), all ships over 500GT (typically 50m+) must carry at least one fully compliant SOLAS Rescue Vessel (and a complement of life rafts). The rescue vessel must be stowed onboard and cannot be towed astern or located on a support vessel.

SOLAS Rescue Vessels must be able to carry five seated persons and a person lying on a stretcher. They must also have an automatic self-righting capability and the engine must be restartable following a capsize. Stable in a seaway (and deployable when the mothership is doing 5 knots), rescue boats may be either rigid or inflated and need to be operable in water that is 1-30°C. They also need to be able to start in -30°C air temperature.

First adopted in 1914, the SOLAS Convention was initiated as a direct response to the Titanic disaster. The Convention in use today is often referred to as the “SOLAS, 1974, as amended”.

SOLAS Lifeboats

✓ Rigid ✓ Stow Unlike a SOLAS Rescue Vessel that can be inflatable or rigid hull, a lifeboat must have the latter.

Painted bright orange—or Pantone 144—a lifeboat can have a LOA no less than 7.3m.

Sports Fisher

A close relative of both the Central Console and High-performance categories, a Sports Fisher is a dedicated recreational fishing boat. Despite the wide range of boats within this category, the Flybridge Sports Fisher is the most synonymous with the name.

Large boats, often up to 25m, the archetypal fisher is perfectly suited to lengthy, deep-sea fishing trips. Typically built with berths, heads, a galley and a tower (perhaps even a live bait tank, too), a Sports Fsher is for serious big game fishing enthusiasts.

It’s quite a commitment for a superyacht when a large open or utility tender with rod holders would probably be just as effective if big game fishing was less of a priority.

Utility Tender

A utility tender is the most versatile boat on the list. Ticking almost every box, a utility boat is somewhat open to interpretation. As much an entire category as it is an individual tender, a utility boat could easily take the form of a landing craft or open RIB.

Both promote an open deck space and satisfy the needs of crew in all manner of tasks, including the general movement of equipment and vehicles, refuge and provision runs, and guest and crew transfers.

The number of yacht owners and size of yachts is growing year after year. This is apparent when traveling along the coastal waters of the United States. Today, marinas are lined with yachts in a multitude of lengths. However, yacht ownership is complex, considering all of the moving parts and the number of crew required for operation and maintenance. Take it from me: I worked an eight year career aboard a fleet of yachts with a private corporation. One constant is the necessity of a yacht tender. Yacht tenders, without question, serve multiple rolls. Understand the importance of a mega yacht tender.

What Is A Yacht Tender

Without question, a yacht tender wears many hats. Additionally, tenders come in different sizes and forms of construction.

Yacht Tender Construction Variations

During my time working aboard yachts, I primarily dealt with Nautica Tenders. Nauticas are constructed with fiberglass hulls and inflatable sides. Thus, they are deemed RIB, which stands for Rigid Inflatable Boat.

However, never assume that all tenders incorporate inflatable components. Instead, other tenders are constructed solely of fiberglass.

Yacht Tender Deck Layouts

It is essential to understand that the primary function of tenders is to transport people. For this reason, they are designed to allow for accessible entrance and exit.

Furthermore, tenders are constructed with comfort in mind. Again, this relates directly to transporting people, most importantly safely but secondly comfortably.

For this reason, ample seating is available both forward of the console and aft. During changing weather conditions, passengers have the option to move in the event of water spray or high winds.

Yacht Tender Performance

Performance is critical when it comes to tenders. A tender will operate in almost all weather conditions as a result of a necessity. For this reason, the boat must be capable of withstanding big seas. I have run a 24 foot Nautica RIB in less than ideal conditions countless times. Vessels designed specifically as tenders perform well even under the most challenging marine conditions.

What Functions Do Yacht Tenders Serve

First, understand that the functionality of a tender goes beyond what is noted below. The possibilities are nearly endless with how a tender assists with yacht operations.

Shuttling Passengers

Again, as mentioned above, the primary purpose of a tender is to move passengers. Remember, yacht tenders are most frequently used when they are out at anchor as compared to dockside.

For the most part, the tender picks up passengers and luggage and transports them to the boat and vice versa.

Additionally, tenders are fundamental when it comes to entertainment. There are ample waterfront restaurants, remote beaches, and picturesque shorelines. The tender allows passengers to explore these unique sites.

Snorkeling And Dive Trips

Without a doubt, guests aboard yachts have the opportunity to explore life beneath the surface of the water.

For this reason, a mega yacht tender is perfect for heading out to reefs and wrecks. The tender serves not only as the transport vessel but also as the watch boat with guests in the water.

Grocery Getter

Yachts don’t have the option to pull up alongside a grocery when it’s time to re-provision. I have made many trips to the grocery store aboard a tender when the time came to restock on vegetables, meats, and drinks.

Mega yacht tenders ferry the chef and crew members to marinas with grocery stores or markets within close proximity. Most often, coolers are loaded onto the tender to serve the purpose of keeping the food cold during transport.

Crew Adventures

I’ll admit I used a tender for many adventures as a crew member aboard yachts. Without question, when the crew has a night or two without guests, the party starts.

Comparably, instead of the tender shuttling guests, the tender shuttles crew to and from bars . No doubt about it, the crew needs a break, especially when they are away from home for extended periods of time.

In addition to getting a break and heading shoreside, tenders are perfect for crew spearfishing or rod and reel fishing adventures. The crew has the opportunity to get out and catch fish. On many occasions, the fresh catch becomes the crew’s dinner.

A Mega Yacht Tender Serves A Multitude Of Functions

One of the most highly valuable components of yacht ownership is a tender. The tender is the workhorse of the fleet. I know firsthand because of my experiences as a crew member aboard yachts. Without a tender, the opportunities for guests and crew to explore would be limited. Additionally, the yacht would be required to go dockside with incoming and outgoing guests.

The external profile of this vessel has been designed by Omega Architects, in close collaboration with the CRN Engineering Department which developed the naval project, while their interiors have been created by Droulers Architecture, which has worked in close collaboration with the shipyard’s Interiors and Design Office.

The new megayacht, the first to be built by CRN on the new naval platform of 12.50 metres in width, is characterized by sleek, slender and sporty lines, which make the profile particularly streamlined. With 5 decks, M/Y CRN 132 73 m can host up to 12 guests in its six cabins, including the Owner Suite and Vip cabins, together with a crew of 22 members.

The construction of this new jewel of the sea, which includes the best design solutions realized by CRN, has required around 430,000 hours of work from the shipyard workers and subcontractors and the daily contribution of over 150 direct and indirect workers.

YALLA hit the water in 2014 at the CRN shipyard in Ancona. She was built under the shipyard build number CRN 132 is a luxurious 73-metre displacement vessel. Spreading over four spacious and magnificent decks, the this 73-metre vessel offers accommodation for up to 12 guests in six deluxe staterooms overnight, including the sumptuous Owner Suite and Vip staterooms. There is also accommodation for a numerous and highly trained crew of 22 members, taking care of guests every need with exceptional attention to detail and guests on board.

YALLA Specifications

YALLA was designed with numerous exceptional design solutions to promote on board entertainment, social life and relaxation. One of the main features must be the onboard wellness situated on the lower deck, that includes a beach club, large swimming pool as well as a well-equipped fitness area.

Made of steel and aluminium, YALLA is fitter with twin Caterpillar 3512B diesel engines. She is ABS classed and MCA compliant.

Accommodation is spread over six beautifully appointed staterooms, including one spacious deluxe owner accommodation. All staterooms over private en suite bathroom facilities and best quality furnishings and amenities.

The Acquisition

Off the Hook Yachts is proud to announce the acquisition of Georgetown Yacht Basin (GYB) now rebranding under Georgetown Yacht Haven – a 300-boat slip full-service marina located on the Sassafras River in Georgetown, MD. Off the Hook plans to restore the yacht basin to its former glory and reconnect with the local community in order to establish it as a household name in the area.

As our founder is originally from Maryland, this will complement our current presence in the area, along with our MD sales team, which currently operates out of Bay Bridge Marina. The acquisition of the marina will allow us to expand on sales, service, and custom-built Nor-Tech Performance Boat sales in the region. Georgetown Yacht Haven has 300 slips, two paint sheds that can hold up to a 110-foot yacht, a 110-ton travel lift, a fuel dock, a swimming pool, bathhouses, and a complete ship store, along with many other amenities. GYH controls the largest travel lift in Northern Chesapeake Bay.

Built in 2014, Cocoa Bean is custom-built for world-class luxury yacht chartering, offering a wealth of spacious living areas and fabulous amenities, you'll be in for a treat from the moment you step on board. She has sensational features such as an elevator, beach club and gym.

Guest Accommodation

Cocoa Bean offers guest accommodation for up to 12 guests in 6 suites comprising a master suite located on the main deck, one VIP cabin, two double cabins and two twin cabins. There are 6 beds in total, including 4 king and 4 singles. A crew of nineteen, who specialize in creating exceptional charters, are on hand to provide guests with a yacht charter vacation to remember.

Performance & Range

Cocoa Bean is built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure. Powered by twin Caterpillar engines, she comfortably cruises at 14 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 15 knots with a range of up to 6,000 nautical miles from her 242,266 litre fuel tanks at 13 knots. An advanced stabilisation system on board reduces the side-to-side roll of the yacht and promises guests exceptional comfort levels at anchor or when underway.

Cocoa Bean knows a thing or two about fun on the water, with a selection of water toys and accessories for you and your guests to enjoy whilst on charter. Take to the sea on the Jet Skis offering you power and control on the water. Also there are waterskis that are hugely entertaining whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro. Additionally, there are two kayaks - a tranquil and relaxing way to pass the time. If that isn't enough Cocoa Bean also features scuba diving equipment, inflatable water toys, paddleboards and snorkelling equipment. 73m superyacht Yalla launched by CRN

Italian yacht builder CRN has launched its 73m superyacht Yalla .

CRN welcomed more than 1,000 guests to the launching ceremony of CRN 132 Yalla , held late this morning at its shipyard in Ancona, Italy. The launch ceremony included speeches from Alberto Galassi, new CEO of the Ferretti Group , Lamberto Tacoli, Chairman and CEO of CRN, Xinyu Xu, Vice-chairman of Weichai Group, and the Mayor of Ancona Valeria Mancinelli.

Part of the Ferretti Group, CRN specialises in custom yachts up to 90 metres in steel and aluminium. Yalla is the first yacht built by CRN on its new 12.5m beam platform. More than 430,000 hours from CRN and its subcontractors were spent on Yalla 's build, with contributions from 150 employees.

Exterior styling comes from Omega Architects in The Netherlands, in close collaboration with the CRN Engineering Department. The five-deck motor yacht features sleek, sporty lines and a streamlined profile. Superyacht Yalla 's interiors are by Droulers Architecture, working with CRN's Interiors and Design Office. She hosts up to 12 guests in its six cabins, including an owner's suite and VIP cabins, along with 22 crew members.

'Following the launch of CRN 133 61m superyacht a few months ago, we are proud to celebrate the launch of the new Yalla of 73m, which represents a challenge and an objective for the whole CRN shipyard,' says Lamberto Tacoli, Chairman and CEO of CRN. ' Yalla will mark another important result for the development of CRN in the world. The Ferretti Group currently has five superyachts underway at the Ancona shipyard, including the 74m CRN 131, 55m CRN 134, a Ferretti Custom Line CL 124, the 61m CRN 133 and the Riva 122 Mythos , which are at the delivery stage.

Strange Glow Over Moscow Skies Triggers Panic as Explosions Reported

B right flashes lit up the night sky in southern Moscow in the early hours of Thursday morning, new footage appears to show, following reports of an explosion at an electrical substation on the outskirts of the city.

Video snippets circulating on Russian-language Telegram channels show a series of flashes on the horizon of a cloudy night sky, momentarily turning the sky a number of different colors. In a clip shared by Russian outlet MSK1.ru, smoke can be seen rising from a building during the flashes lighting up the scene.

Newsweek was unable to independently verify the details of the video clips, including when and where it was filmed. The Russian Ministry of Emergency situations has been contacted via email.

Several Russian Telegram accounts said early on Thursday that residents of southern Moscow reported an explosion and a fire breaking out at an electrical substation in the Leninsky district, southeast of central Moscow.

Local authorities in the Leninsky district told Russian outlet RBC that the explosion had happened in the village of Molokovo. "All vital facilities are operating as normal," Leninsky district officials told the outlet.

The incident at the substation in Molokovo took place just before 2 a.m. local time, MSK1.ru reported.

Messages published by the ASTRA Telegram account, run by independent Russian journalists, appear to show residents close to the substation panicking as they question the bright flashes in the sky. One local resident describes seeing the bright light before losing access to electricity, with another calling the incident a "nightmare."

More than 10 villages and towns in the southeast of Moscow lost access to electricity, the ASTRA Telegram account also reported. The town of Lytkarino to the southeast of Moscow, lost electricity, wrote the eastern European-based independent outlet, Meduza.

Outages were reported in the southern Domodedovo area of the city, according to another Russian outlet, as well as power failures in western Moscow. Electricity was then restored to the areas, the Strana.ua outlet reported.

The cause of the reported explosion is not known. A Telegram account aggregating news for the Lytkarino area described the incident as "an ordinary accident at a substation."

The MSK1.ru outlet quoted a local resident who speculated that a drone may have been responsible for the explosion, but no other Russian source reported this as a possible cause.

Ukraine has repeatedly targeted Moscow with long-range aerial drones in recent months, including a dramatic wave of strikes in late May.

On Sunday, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the region's air defense systems had intercepted an aerial drone over the city of Elektrostal, to the east of Moscow. No damage or casualties were reported, he said.

The previous day, Russian air defenses detected and shot down another drone flying over the Bogorodsky district, northeast of central Moscow, Sobyanin said.

There is currently no evidence that an aerial drone was responsible for the reported overnight explosion at the electrical substation in southern Moscow.

John Ludwig Hacker is widely considered to be the greatest American powerboat designer of the 20th century. The hull shapes he developed were derived from lessons he learned designing floats for the Wright Brothers’ airplane in 1911 and boats which claimed more than twenty world speed records. Mashkevich was born in Frunze, Kyrgyz SSR, Soviet Union, in 1954. His father Anton, a doctor born in Lithuania, and his mother, Rakhel Yoffe, a lawyer born in Vitebsk, were evacuated to Kyrgyzstan in 1941. His family background is Lithuanian Jewish.

He is a graduate of Kyrgyz State University where he studied philology. Mashkevich started out an academic career but became a businessman during perestroika. Mashkevich, Patokh Chodiev, and Alijan Ibragimov form “the Trio,” a group of Kazakh businessmen who became billionaires. The Trio gained control of the recently privatized chromium, alumina, and gas operations in Kazakhstan (some of the largest ones in the world).

Mashkevich is one of the owners of Alferon Management. Based in London, Alferon Management has acquired mining operations in different places: Zambia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Indonesia, Kosovo, Russia, and other countries.

In 2010 he was on the Forbes list of billionaires at #287. In 2017, he was on the list at #1098, with a worth of $1.9 billions. Now his worth is 3 billion dollars.

Built in 2015, Lady Lara is designed for exquisite indoor/outdoor living and boasts voluminous interior and exterior spaces across several decks: ideal for bronzing, lounging or entertaining. Guest Accommodation

Lady Lara offers guest accommodation for up to 12 guests in 8 suites. The master suite incorporates its own study and dressing room as well as a his and her bathroom. There are up to twenty-seven crew members on board to provide outstanding service on your charter.

The incredibly designed LADY LARA yacht features an interior style from Reymond Langton Design .

She has accommodations for 18 guests and 19 crew members on board. The VIP suites have fold-down balconies that add to the grandeur.

The onboard atmosphere is bright and inviting with subtle finishes. The entertainment areas are open to provide more sheltered and intimate formal spaces.

The yacht has an extensive health and beauty center with a spa and an expansive beach club.

The beach club creates the perfect area for guests to enjoy indoor/outdoor living. There is also a swimming platform where guests can leap into the water below.

She has an on-deck jacuzzi to soak up the bubbles and the views. The yacht also has an elevator for convenient access to her different decks and a comprehensive gym onboard. The tender garage is brimming with towable toys and tenders.

Reymond Langton Design also contributed to the exterior design of the LADY LARA yacht. She was built by Lürssen and delivered from their Rendsburg shipyard in 2015. The exterior has sweeping curves and elegant but masculine features.

LADY LARA was code-named project Orchid when she was launched from the Lürssen Shipyard in 2015 and later renamed. She has a full displacement hull which gives her exceptional speeds in the water.

She has a white aluminum superstructure and teak decks throughout. The exterior is accented by underwater lights, which illuminate her at the night.

The LADY LARA yacht is a 91m superyacht with a beam of 14.82m and a draft of 4m. The vessel reaches a maximum speed of 18 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots.

She is powered by 2 MTU engines and has a displacement of 2,945 gross tons.

She features an advanced stabilization system that provides guests with the best comfort levels on board by minimizing the rolling motion of the vessel. The $180 million yacht has a $14 – $15 million annual running cost.

A $1.4 Million-Per-Week Yacht Charter Experience

Y.CO has just welcomed the 298-foot Lürssen Lady Lara to the charter fleet. The lowest weekly base rate is $1.4 million for bookings this winter in the Caribbean and Bahamas.

The yacht is also listed for sale—at more than $254 million—for the first time since the German shipyard delivered it in 2015. Y.CO’s Max Bulley and Gary Wright, along with Merle Wood of Merle Wood & Associates, represented the yacht at the recent Monaco Yacht Show.

“With Lürssen quality and stunning Reymond Langton design, Lady Lara is an exceptional yacht that was conceived with family living in mind,” Wright stated in a press release. “Her adaptable spaces, variety and flexibility, in addition to all the amazing features like the breathtaking spa area, the beach club and two pools, are ideal for multigenerational groups and put Lady Lara into a league of her own.”

Accommodations are for 12 guests in their choice of eight staterooms (for private use, the yacht is built to accommodate 16 guests). Six of the guest staterooms are on the main deck, with one on the lower deck. The master suite has its own private deck with an exterior terrace, outdoor hot tub, and indoor library. The aft-deck space in the owner’s area is called a “winter garden,” with sliding glass panels that can be closed to shelter diners from the elements.

There also are two cabins for owner’s staff or supernumeraries, in addition to the yacht’s quarters for 27 crew.

Onboard amenities include an aft-deck pool whose floor can be raised to create a dance floor. A sound system on this deck helps to create a discotheque-style environment for parties. There’s another pool up on the sundeck, this one with a swim-up bar.

On the bridge deck, guests have access to the spa, which includes a hammam, massage room, treatment room, beauty salon and gymnasium. Guests who prefer to get their exercise outdoors can do so from the beach club at water level, which has a steam room and a sauna along with a sunbathing area.

For rainy days and relaxing nights, the lower deck aboard Lady Lara includes a cinema. There’s also a touch-and-go helipad on board, if guests want to escape to a different spot up the coast.

How fast can Lady Lara cruise? According to Y.CO, the yacht has a top speed of 17 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots, which is plenty fast for exploring the islands.
