The eye-watering value and spec of Hamilton’s luxury yacht in Monaco

Lewis Hamilton (GBR 1 World Championship, Rd 7, Monaco Grand Prix, Monte Carlo, Monaco,

The Mercedes driver crashed during final practice at the sixth round of the 2023 season.

But at least he will be able to slink off in style.

His luxury Sunseeker 90 yacht is one of Hamilton’s most impressive toys.

He reportedly bought it in 2009 for $4 million (now £3.1m).

The newest model is estimated to cost £6.1 million by Motorboat & Yachting but, if you are interested, you should expect the cost to soar closer to £9m once you’ve added those crucial upgrades!

Hamilton’s Sunseeker is 91.9 feet - not actually the largest of its type.

It features a luxury interior and several bedrooms. It has “American walnut carpentry”, air conditioning, a swimming swhoer, a professional chef’s sized kitchen and a huge entertainment system, according to Elysian Estates.

There is a dining area for eight people and a barbecue area.

Hamilton’s yacht is usually kept in Monaco.

Lewis Hamilton’s 4 million dollar Yacht : Know all about ultra luxurious possession of the Mercedes driver

what is lewis hamilton's yacht called

F1 driver Lewis Hamilton's Sunseeker 90 yacht

Lewis Hamilton has been racing for a long time. With his experience comes the success that he has achieved in the past few years. Having been at the top of the standings for multiple years, it’s no doubt that his F1 team will be willing to pay big money just to keep him in the team and compete for more championships. Driver salaries are based on success rate and experience in the sport.

In Sir Lewis Hamilton’s case, it is pretty obvious that there is a massive sum of money attached to the Mercedes driver’s contract . He reportedly earns about 40-50 million dollars every year. With this king of money at his disposal, the British driver clearly didn’t hold back on ultra luxurious purchases. An example of that is the Sunseeker 90 Yacht that is owned by the 7 time world champion.

Lewis Hamilton is a driver with a massive sense of fashion. The driver has even hired a person to style him for his day to day fits. The moment you see Lewis in the paddock during race weekends, you will see why he gets all the attention. His outfits are a clear indication of the life that he likes to live. In Lewis’s case, he yearns for ultra luxurious products.

Lewis Hamilton’s yacht costed a whopping 4 million dollars

Inside Lewis Hamilton's Sunseeker 90 yacht

The British driver owns a yacht called the Sunseeker 90 which is worth about 4 million dollars or 3.1 million euros. The latest model of this yacht goes for around 6 million dollars but can also reach 9 million of fully upgraded. Along with some cozy interior designing, the yacht itself is 27.10 meters long. It has a total of 4 cabins that can house 8 guests in total.

Apart from that, there is also room to sleep for the crew members present on the yacht. The sea vehicle can reach speeds of up to 30 knots while maintaining a cruising speed of 22 knots. The yacht is blessed with a luxury interior equipped with ‘American walnut carpentry’. It includes features such as air conditioning, a chef’s sized kitchen and a huge entertainment system.

The yacht also houses an area fit for barbecues and has features that make water sports accessible for the guests. With the plethora of features that the yacht has to offer, it’s an ideal choice for anyone seeking a luxurious experience. The Sunseeker 90 is kept in Monaco, a destination that is known for its racing prestige.

Lewis Hamilton has had an incredible season provided the machinery that he had to deal with. With the 2023 season incoming, it will be interesting to see how Mercedes and Lewis fight back to grab the 8th title. It won’t be an easy fight since Red Bull and Ferrari will probably be just as competitive. However, anything can happen in this sport.

Lewis Hamilton has a luxury good collection which includes a yacht and $680k watches

Lewis Hamilton celebrated his 39th birthday at the weekend, no doubt in style.

But if you were a friend or family member of the F1 driver , what would you gift him?

It’s probably easier said than done, when he already owns an extensive collection of luxury goods.

Without a doubt, one of the Brit’s biggest interests is fashion.

Lewis Hamilton likes to express his taste and wealth through fashion and with the watches he puts around his wrist.

Apparently, his current collection holds a staggering value of around $680,000, with the bulk of that figure coming from two timepieces.

Lewis Hamilton reportedly has two Patek Philippe Nautilus watches – one in black, one in blue – with the two timepieces worth in the region of $263,000 and $285,000 respectively.

But his watch collection doesn’t stop there, as he reportedly also owns three IWC watches worth over $25,000 a piece.

An IWC brand ambassador, Lewis Hamilton hitched a ride off Supercar Blondie’s very own Alex Hirschi ahead of the 2022 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton doesn’t just look stylish at the track, though – he’s known to travel to and from it in style.

The seven-time world champion boasts an impressive collection of supercars.

He might’ve parted ways with his iconic Pagani Zonda, but he still owns a $2.7 million Mercedes-AMG Project ONE , as well as three Ferraris worth in the region of $6.7 million.

Oh, and he’s got a 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, which is a $1.4 million replica of the one from ‘Gone in 60 Seconds’.

The crown jewel in his collection, however, is his ultra-rare, 1966 Shelby Cobra reportedly worth an eye-watering $5 million.

He might not have his $20.9 million Bombardier Challenger 605 private jet any longer, but Lewis Hamilton still likes to relax aboard his personal yacht.

The Sunseeker boat, which apparently set him back $3.9 million, stands at over 90 feet in length, perfect for the 103-time Grand Prix winner to unwind in style.

And when he’s not spending time relaxing on board his yacht, he’s spending time at one of his stunning properties across the world.

With a property portfolio worth in excess of $78 million, the F1 legend has homes in London, Geneva, New York and Colorado, alongside his Monaco residence .

We certainly don’t envy those who had to think up a birthday gift for Hamilton’s 39th birthday, given his substantial wardrobe, awe-inspiring car collection and stunning property portfolio.

That being said, the greatest gift he could hope for would be for his Mercedes team to produce a car worthy of taking the title fight to Max Verstappen in 2024.

Lewis Hamilton Sets The Pace As Charter Yachts Arrive In Monaco

By Oliver Pearson   26 May 2016

As the estimable British driver headed the timesheet for the practice laps around the iconic track, the surrounding waters of Monaco came alive with charter yachts migrating from the hotspots of Cannes .

Leaving behind the Old Port of Cannes for berths at the famous Port Hercule, charterers were today treated to a breathtaking performance from one of F1’s most interesting characters.

As we pointed out in an earlier story, the T-Dock is beginning to fill up as the superyachts migrate from the historic ports of Cannes .

With the sun breaking through the clouds around the French Riviera , visitors to the practice session this afternoon returned to sunbathing and sipping cocktails whilst watching the action unfold in front of them.

Unquestionably one of the best opportunities for an event charter, the Monaco Grand Prix has long been associated with yachting in the Mediterranean .

As the drivers prepare for the pivotal race this Sunday, we take a look at some of the charter yachts attending this year’s edition.

Superyacht Romea with her tenders and toys

Perfectly suited for event charters, the 82m/268ft motor yacht ROMEA from Abeking & Rasmussen features an abundance of exterior space for enjoying the race.

Indeed, with a bridge deck large enough to host a home cinema, the area is just as impressive during the day, with an attachable bimini for shading when necessary.

A finalist for an interior award at the Showboats Design Awards this year, both the private and social spaces onboard are replete with contemporary flourishes and comfortable seating arrangements.

What’s more, M/Y ROMEA always includes a dedicated office space for anyone needing to attending to business whilst on charter.

Arguably the most classic of event charters, the Monaco Grand Prix combines the world’s most exciting sport with the unique charms of the Mediterranean

Superyacht VICKY

Another large yacht attending the Monaco Grand Prix 2016 is the 73m/238ft motor yacht VICKY .

Delivered from the Turkish shipyard Proteksan Turquoise, VICKY packs plenty of wow factor and provides charterers with numerous outdoor spaces in which to enjoy their environment.

Winning first place for ‘Recreational Area for Guest Use’ at the Showboats Design Awards 2013, and ‘Quality and Value’ at the World Superyacht Awards 2013, M/Y VICKY all but invites prospective charterers to take her to Monaco.

For parties keen to keep things going through the night, there’s also a professional DJ booth and dance floor- two features sure to be popular as she sits at anchor a short distance from Port Hercule.

An aerial view of superyacht OKTO

Boasting a truly distinctive profile which ultimately earned her the award for ‘Best Exterior Design’ at the World Trophies 2014, the 66m/217ft motor yacht OKTO will no doubt be turning more than a few heads as she joins the proceedings this week.

Renowned for her silent cruising, M/Y OKTO is also regarded as an effortlessly cool charter yacht with a large swimming pool on the aft deck complemented by an engaging Alberto Pinto interior.

Whilst the abundance of outdoor deck space is sure to offer more than enough room for partying, the retractable balcony attached to the master suite provides a nice spot for guests to get away from it all at a moment’s notice.

F1: The ultra luxe life of Lewis Hamilton, 7-time world champion and maximalist at large

By Parth Charan

F1 The ultra luxe life of Lewis Hamilton | GQ India

He may have sold his private jet, turned vegan and switched to driving electric cars off-track, but Lewis Hamilton isn’t exactly a minimalist. As the highest paid F1 driver, Hamilton was reportedly paid a cool $30 million (Rs 225 crore) in 2021 alone, which combined with his endorsement deals and investments nets him career earnings exceeding $500 million (Rs 3,705 crore).

As one of the world’s richest and most successful athletes, it stands to reason that there are several high-value possessions in Hamilton’s name. So, what does “the Hammer” spend his half a billion dollars on? Plenty, as it turns out.

What Lewis Hamilton spends his big bucks on:

Hamilton owns some pretty valuable slices of real estate across the world. While the recently knighted British racer, much like several F1 drivers, resides in the tax-free confines of Monte Carlo (where he owns a sea-facing bachelor pad), he also owns a Manhattan Penthouse worth $44 million (Rs 326 crore) and a six-bedroom London villa. According to The Sun, Hamilton purchased the West London villa from Burberry chief designer Christopher Bailey. The property is said to have a 200ft garden area with its own independent summer house. As for his Manhattan penthouse – a condo project part-owned by NFL legend Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen – it has everything from a state-of-the-art gym, pool, squash court, library and wine cellar.

He also owns an apartment in Geneva, Switzerland (his second home) where he goes to escape the limelight, and so the details of his Geneva home aren’t well known.

Image may contain Transportation Vehicle Boat and Yacht

The Challenger 605 jet may be gone, but Hamilton can still be found spending his downtime on his private Sunseeker yacht. A 90-foot-long $4 million (Rs30 crore) luxury performance yacht comes with a built-in sundecks, BBQ, modular lounge seating and a dining area for eight (among other things). When not being used for parties, it can usually be found parked by the bayside in Monaco or Nice.

Hamilton has joined the league of successful F1 racers turned team owners. However, Hamilton sees the future of racing to be in more sustainable forms of motorsport (even F1 aims to go carbon neutral by 2030) and so, has put his millions in the Extreme E electric off-road racing series. Called the X44 racing team, it’s due to make its racing debut soon, with venues set in remote locations that have been strongly affected by the climate crisis.

Hamilton has one of the most extensive (super)car collections of any modern-day F1 racer. Apart from his daily driver, there’s nothing in here that isn’t superlatively quick.

The 6 monster vehicles in Lewis Hamilton's garage:

Instagram content.

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.

Given that McLaren gave Hamilton his first big break in the world of racing, it’s fitting that his garage houses one of the fastest models in the world. Hamilton purchased this hybrid hypercar back in 2015. The P1 costs approximately Rs 17 crore (excluding taxes) and is powered by the combination of a 3.8-litre, 727hp V8and a 177hp electric motor. Only 375 examples were ever made, all of which were sold out. Hamilton’s blue P1 was driven straight to his Monaco home by McLaren’s employees.

Although Hamilton’s daily driver is an all-electric Mercedes EQC, there lies in his garage, an F1-inspired road car, which was developed with the help of Sir Lewis himself. Much like Lewis’s “work” car, the One has a V6 turbo along with four electric motors. Collectively it puts out 1200 horsepower and hits 100kph in an eyeball eviscerating 2.2 seconds. Only 275 of these hyper-exotic models will ever be built. Given it’s similarities with his F1 car, this is something that is likely to stay in his garage, long after he has retired. It’s price? A measly $2.72 million (Rs 20 crore, excluding taxes).

Completing the hybrid hypercar holy trinity is Hamilton’s candy-apple red LaFerrari. Ferrari could very well be on Hamilton’s horizon in the not too distant future, and his love for this landmark piece of Maranello engineering, (which costs Rs 11 crore, minus taxes). Another F1-inspired piece of tech, the LaFerrari features a kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) system which helps it put out nearly 1000 bhp. Fitting for an F1 racer’s garage.

The late Carroll Shelby’s pièce de résistance, the Cobra is an Anglo-American motoring gem, which, if in good nick, can set you back by $7 million (Rs 51 crore). Hamilton’s Cobra 427 was vetted by Shelby himself, making it something of a collector’s item, since a non-replica version is almost impossible to find these days. Which is why Hamilton bought two of them. One for posterity and one to cruise around on sunny mornings.

Another Carroll Shelby masterpiece, the Shelby GT500 has been immortalised in both film and on the racetrack. Although not driven often by Hamilton, whose F1 reflexes don’t mix well with lumpy muscle car handling, the ‘Stang does hold a special place in Hamilton’s garage, for its old-school 7.0-litre, V8, the likes of which will be extinct very soon. In an interview with British GQ, Hamilton said that he “bought the car because he’d seen Steve McQueen drive one in the movie Bullitt . In fairness, McQueen drove a ‘68 Mustang GT Fastback, but we can see many other reasons why the G.O.A.T would be compelled to buy the one with the magical Shelby touch. A good one today will cost approximately $1.2 million (Rs 8.9 crore)

Unbeknownst to most, Hamilton is an avid biker. Which is why MV Agusta, purveyors of Italian exotica, built him a bespoke version of their iconic F4 superbike. The inline-4, litre-bike, penned by the divine hand of Massimo Tamburini, is often considered the most beautiful modern-day motorcycle. Hamilton’s bike was given the LH44 label (combining his initials with his official racing number) MV produced a limited run of the LH44 bikes, priced at Rs 54 lakh (minus taxes). Hamilton, we reckon, got it for free.

49 Facts About Lewis Hamilton You Didn’t Know

No driver has matched Lewis’s statistics. He holds the record for the number of pole start positions (103), won more races (103), led more races from start to finish (23), won more championships (7) than any other F1 driver.

Some say that Lewis’s success was purely down to driving the fasted car in F1. There is no question that this helped, but neither of his teammates at Mercedes achieved the same success. Secondly, in the junior racing series, using cars that had no significant advantage, he still achieved record success’s

So much has been written about and reported on Lewis Hamilton. He has achieved more than any other driver in the sport’s history, has dominated F1 for fourteen years, and is the equal joint winner of seven world championships with Michael Schumacher.

Things You Didn’t Know About Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton has dominated the F1 standings since his first season in 2007. In his first-ever race in F1, he achieved third place at the Australian Grand Prix. After Barcelona, Lewis became the first rookie to lead a world championship.

Although he did not ultimately win the championship, his debut set the tone for who he was to become, a legend in the image of Stirling Moss, Jackie Stewart, Nikki Lauda, and Ayrton Senna.

Are Lewis Hamilton And Nico Rosberg Friends?

Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg’s relationship started when they were still racing go-karts for the same team.

The relationship suffered severe stress when they were teammates at Mercedes Benz from 2013 to 2016. The rivalry between the two was extreme and heated. Lewis won 32 times, had 55 podium finishes, and qualified ahead of Rosberg 42 times.

For his part, Nico had 22 victories, 50 podium finishes, and qualified ahead of Lewis 36 times.

Lewis won the championship in two of the three years they raced together. After Lewis had terrible luck with car serviceability issues, Nico won the championship in their last year together.

Lewis said they weren’t friends, but they would cooperate because they raced for the same team.

Are Lewis Hamilton And Max Verstappen Friends?

Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen are not friends.

Lewis and Max have been each other’s closest competitors for the last few years, culminating in 2021, when they both ran neck and neck for the championship.

Max had said that there were times when they hated each other during this period.

Lewis never denigrates a competitor; he has said that now he is older, he always tries to understand what motivates his competitors. He tries to look a little deeper into their character, background, and upbringing to explain their behavior. They have very different personalities, values, and lifestyles and will probably never become friends.

Despite this, Lewis and Max hold high respect for one another.

Are Lewis Hamilton And Bottas Friends?

Valtteri Bottas and Lewis have had a harmonious and positive relationship.

There have been no flair-ups or major disagreements when they have raced together.

Lewis stated that each driver has two championships to win, the drivers and the constructors. They compete against each other for the drivers, but to win the constructors, they must work together.

Mind-Blowing Lewis Hamilton Facts You Need to Know

By jonny noble.

Lewis Hamiton and Toto Wolf

Though his results speak for themselves, and no driver has matched Lewis’s record, there are facts about Lewis Hamilton you may not know.

  • He has started the race from pole position more time than any other driver ( 104 ).
  • He has won 103 races which is more than anyone else.
  • He has won more podium finishes ( 191 ).
  • He has led more races from start to finish ( 23 )
  • He has won more championships (7 which ties with Michael Schumacher) than any other F1 driver.

These facts show how wrong people are when they say Lewis’s only succeeded because of the car he was driving. There is no question that it helped, but none of his teammates driving the same car achieved the same success. In the junior series, he still achieved records.

Even though 2022 was a year most Mercedes fans would prefer to forget, we should never forget that Lewis has dominated F1 for fourteen years. Alongside Michael Schumacher, he holds the record of seven world championship wins. If Abu Dhabi had turned out differently in 2021, he would hold a record eight world championships.

His dad is reputed to have said that he shouldn’t retaliate but instead should let his results speak for themselves.

Louis was comfortably in front of the pack and was leading the race when a crash occurred, and the safety car came out. Red bull took the opportunity to give Max a fresh set of tires and re-joined the race behind the back runners.

In an absurd turn of events, the race director, Michael Massey, allowed Max and no other driver to lap the rear cars. This placed Max directly behind Lewis (on a fresh set of tires.)

If Michael Massey had followed the rules, this is how the race would have finished. Instead, Massey brought the safety car, which allowed Max, on the newer tires, to overtake Lewis and win the race.

Which race was lewis hamilton’s favorite.

Lewis has picked the 2021 Brazilian Grand Prix as his “best race ever”. He started from 10th place on the grid and charged forward to overhaul championship leader Max Verstappen for the win.

This achievement placed him back in contention for the drivers’ championship.

What Actually Occurred At The 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix?

The 2021 season finished with the promise of a massive duel between Lewis Hamilton   and Max Verstappen.

Hamilton had won the previous two races (The Brazilian and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix) and drew level with Max on points. The finale was to be held over 58 laps of the 5.281-kilometre Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi

Max started on pole ahead of Lewis who was alongside in second position. Hamilton had a lightening quick start and pulled ahead of Max into the first corner. Max has the faster straight line speed and tried to overtake Lewis into turn six.

Lewis took evasive action and managed to hold onto the lead.

Max was aggrieved and questioned why Lewis had not been penalized.

After a pit stop found Lewis behind Sergio Perez, there seemed to be some danger – particularly as Max’s Mexican teammate was doing a great jib holding Lewis up.

The Mercedes demonstrated the pace that had won the Brazilian and Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and powered past.

On Lap 53 of the race, Nicholas Latifi crashed at Turn 14, which resulted in the Safety Car being deployed.

The time behind the safety car reduced Lewis’s 13-second lead over Verstappen. With the 5 cars of lapped traffic between the Lewis and Max, the British driver was safe from the Red Bull.

Max had used the safety car to pit for new tires (Hamilton was still on the hard tires).

Enter Michael Masi – Stage Left

The lapped cars were informed they wouldn’t be allowed to overtake the Safety Car and thus give Hamilton a crucial buffer over Verstappen.

Lewis Hamilton Facts - Michael Masi

On Lap 57, the race director Michael Masi broke the rules and allowed the five of the seven lapped cars to unlap themselves, which put Max in a position to have a free run at Hamilton.

The race restarted with just one lap remaining, and Max, on new tires was able to take the lead and become 2021 F1 world championship.

It was an unforgivable end to the season and race director Michael Masi paid with his career by being sacked. There are not many fans who disagree with that outcome.

This does not detract from Max’s amazing performance however I think that he would agree that it would have been better to win under other circumstances.

Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen could never be called friends.

There is a noticeable animosity between the two rivers, which extends to the team principals ( Toto Wolf and Christian Horner.)

Max is the only driver who has been a consistent competitor and matches his incredible skill level.

The debacle in Abu Dhabi in 2021 did not help the situation. If Max had not been allowed to move past the lapped cars, he would not have won the championship.

As bitterly disappointing and unfair as the F1 decision was that day, Louis still has the grace to congratulate Max.

Max is reputed to have said that he hated Louis in 2021.

One of the few benefits of the terrible season Mercedes has in the 2022 season is that it has taken some of the pressure off Max and Louis’s relationship.

Louis has maturity and wisdom on his side and has said that he always tries to look for reasons why people behave the way they do. This has allowed him to have a different take and be less hot-headed than Max.

Both drivers say that they respect each other’s driving ability.

Louis has said that he hopes Daniel finds his way back to the grid in 2024.

Lewis Hamilton is a remarkable ambassador for F1 and life in general. He has a rigid personal discipline; he is afraid of no one when it comes to honestly speaking his mind, and he is gracious and kind to those who may be suffering or who are not as fortunate as him.

Crash reports that the luxury interior is said to be of 'American walnut carpentry' equipped with air conditioning, a professional chef’s sized kitchen and a huge entertainment system. Other impressive specs include the yacht's speeds, which can reach up to 30 knots, and a cruising speed of 22 knots.

Formula 1 is never enough to satiate the hunger of Lewis Hamilton for thrill and adrenaline. During the mid-season breaks and the off-season, the Briton engages himself in adventure activities. Among those, skydiving and surfing are his favorites. However, he had something really special planned to celebrate his 38th birthday. That was a trip to Antarctica, among penguins and seals, on an ultra-luxurious yacht.

Hamilton just went through one of the worst Formula 1 seasons he has ever had in his 16-year career. The Briton, for the first time, went through a full season without a race win. A place where he could find peace and gather his thoughts is exactly what he needed to come back stronger for the upcoming 2023 season.

The 7-mile run, even in the off-season, in treacherous conditions, shows Lewis’ commitment to his health. Modern F1 drivers are fitter and leaner than their earlier counterparts. The commitment to excel is praiseworthy as they all have pretty tough training regimes and diet plans.

Hamilton revealed why he loves adventure sports and activities

In 2020, Lewis appeared in an interview with Desus & Mero for Showtime. They talked about his various experiences, ranging from Met Gala to rivalry with Max Verstappen. But one part of the interview that caught our attention was when he talked about the need for adrenaline when he’s not racing and the activities he engages himself in.

“I love surfing. I sky dive, love skydiving,”  he said. The shocked hosts asked him if he was “ an adrenaline junkie.”  Hamilton answered, “ Yeah, you basically have to substitute it. Because the races. You’re on this massive high and when you come after the race, the next couple of days, you’re just crashing down. Then you hit a low. Then you have to pick yourself back up. You’re back into training. So I usually fill it in with things, fun activities in between training.”

FORMULA 1 ace Lewis Hamilton frolics on a luxury yacht with stunning supermodel Bella Hadid in the Monaco sun - just hours after a race.

The three-time Brit champion was pictured partying with newly-single Hadid just hours after finishing a lowly seventh at the Monaco Grand Prix over the weekend.

Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel won the race on the famous streets, and by doing so stretched his championship lead over Mercedes' Hamilton to 25 points.

Keep up to date with ALL the latest F1 news, gossip and rumours

Hamilton was left baffled after his Mercedes car struggled for grip around Monte Carlo on the ultrasoft and supersoft tyres.

He has not won a title since 2015 and finished just an agonising five points behind former team-mate Nico Rosberg, who subsequently retired from the sport.

But it seemingly did not bother the 32-year-old as he stripped down to his swimming shorts with Hadid and plus on a mega-swanky yacht on the famous coastline.

And former F1 champ Hamilton seemed relaxed right after a poor race in the Monaco Grand Prix

Who is lewis hamilton’s mother, carmen larbalestier.

Source: Lewis Hamilton’s Instagram

The Formula 1 audience is used to seeing Lewis Hamilton ‘s father Anthony at the races, but not so much his mother. So who is Lewis’ mom Carmen Larbalestier?

Carmen Larbalestier, now Lockhart, was born in England in 1955. She married Anthony Hamilton and later gave birth to their son Lewis in January 1985, in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, England. The marriage didn’t last long, as Carmen and Anthony separated when Lewis was two. After his parents’ divorce, Lewis stayed with his mother.

Carmen later married Raymond Lockhart and gave birth to Lewis’ two half-sisters, Samantha and Nicola. When Lewis was twelve, his mom and his stepfather decided to move to London, which ultimately caused Lewis to move in with his dad, who was still living in Stevenage at the time.

Since his divorce, Lewis’ dad has remarried to his second wife Linda and they had a son named Nicolas. What happened after Lewis moved in with them is now the stuff of legend, as Anthony and Lewis embarked on a journey that ultimately led to Formula 1.

Despite not living together since he was twelve, Lewis and his mother maintained a close relationship. Although she is a private person and chooses to stay away from the limelight, she did appear at several races to cheer Lewis on.

If you like SilverArrows.Net, consider supporting us by buying us a coffee !

She attended the 2008 Chinese Grand Prix, where she was seen embracing her son and his stepmother Linda, after his spectacular win. Following the race Lewis emphasized how much the presence of his family meant to him.

“Just having my dad, my mum, my brother and Linda there for me is far greater than the support of 100,000 people in a stadium,” the Briton said.

“Without my family, I wouldn’t be able to do anything. I owe everything to them. My dad for pushing me, and helping me with decisions.

“My mum, my two mums, for being so supportive, for raising me and for giving me direction. And my brother who’s never ever doubted me.’

Of his biological mother, he also added: “She’s incredibly considerate, very caring and fun”.

Carmen could again be seen hugging Lewis after he won his fourth world title at the 2017 Mexican Grand Prix.

Lewis has also publicly mentioned his mother on several occasions. In 2015 Lewis organized a surprise 60 th birthday party for his mother in London, and even got famous singer Jessie J to sing for her. He later wrote about it on Instagram

“So much planning and hard work, all to surprise the most amazing woman in the world, and it was so worth it!! Love you Mum. Happy birthday,” Lewis wrote.

Five years later, in 2020, Lewis again posted a heartfelt message for his mum in honour of her 65 th birthday.

“I want to take a moment to celebrate my mum today,” Lewis wrote.

“Since the day you brought me into this world you showered me with love, showed me the importance of empathy, compassion and caring for others.

“The unconditional love you’ve shown me is unmatched and I feel so lucky to have a mother as wonderful as you. You are the best part of me.

“Happy Birthday mum, I hope you have the best day,” concluded the seven-time champion.

Lewis Hamilton car collection: Take a closer look at his incredible private garage

Lewis Hamilton's Shelby Cobra from his car collection

Lewis Hamilton's Shelby Cobra from his car collection

Unsurprisingly, seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton boasts an impressive set of cars in his private collection.

Lewis Hamilton’s day job may see him driving the fastest machinery in the world around the race track but, even when he gets home, the British driver has access to some of the most spectacular road cars in the world.

Hamilton has an impressive stock of supercars and hypercars tucked away in his private collection, worth an estimated £13 million – and is widely reported to have owned another car worth almost that amount just on its own!

However, in recent years, Hamilton has been open about the fact that his private collection of cars is scarcely used – Hamilton has become increasingly climate-conscious throughout his career and has chosen to only selectively drive the petrol-powered behemoths in his garage.

Instead, Hamilton’s private collection sits quietly in his garages at home in Monaco and Los Angeles, with a small but hugely impressive and wide-ranging collection of carefully curated machinery.

Let’s look at the cars Hamilton is known to have, or had, in his collection.

Pagani Zonda 760 LH

The eagle-eyed amongst you may have copped the ‘LH’ denouement after the model name. And you would be correct: it’s not a coincidence.

Hamilton owned a £1.6 million Pagani Zonda which was specifically manufactured as a bespoke option for the World Champion, before selling it off during 2021.

Pagani manufactured five special-edition Zonda 760s which were special orders – Hamilton was one of them. Interestingly, one of the other five, the 760 ‘Viola’ is now owned by Hamilton’s former friend Adrian Sutil and is based in Monaco.

The car is capable of 0-100km/h in three-and-a-half seconds, and was fitted with a manual gearbox – at Hamilton’s request.

“The Zonda is terrible to drive!” Hamilton once commented on the car. “It’s the best-sounding car I own, but handling-wise it’s the worst.”

This might explain why Hamilton was involved in a collision in Monte Carlo in 2015, that resulted in damage that required work from Pagani to fix…

And unfortunately, in August 2023, the car’s following owner, billionaire Mark Radcliffe, crashed it in a tunnel in Wales, with dashcam footage emerging of the incident – but thankfully, nobody was injured in the scary crash.

Mercedes-AMG Project One

Given he drives for Mercedes’ factory Formula 1 team, it’s no surprise that Hamilton splashed the cash to get his hands on the marque’s most impressive machine, the Project One.

Given his interest in sustainable fuels and powertrains, Hamilton was involved in the production of the plug-in hybrid machine by testing the prototypes.

The Project One is capable of reaching a top speed of nigh on 220mph, with the initial deliveries of the machines being made in late 2022.

Just 275 Project Ones will be built, costing around £2 million each. Hamilton bought one for himself, and another for his father Anthony.

Former Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg has also taken delivery of one, while David Coulthard and Mark Wahlberg have also joined Hamilton in purchasing one of the exceptionally rare machines.

It began with an idea. A dream…. @F1 technology brought to the streets. Today, that dream becomes reality. The ONE and only, @MercedesAMG ONE. ❤️ pic.twitter.com/KXyetqSD3c — Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team (@MercedesAMGF1) June 1, 2022

Mercedes-AMG SLS Black (and a Mercedes Safety Car!)

Aside from the Project One, Hamilton also owns a few other offerings from Mercedes.

The AMG SLS Black is powered by a 6.2 litre V8 with 620bhp, hitting 100km/h in just three seconds from a standing start.

He also owns a white Mercedes AMG GT R, which was used as the Formula 1 Safety Car from 2018 to 2020, which is arguably the most ‘normal’ car in Hamilton’s extensive car collection.

Hamilton also has possession of a Mercedes AMG G63 6×6, a capable and imposing six-wheeled off-roading truck which cost the seven-time World Champion around half a million pounds.

When Hamilton feels like whipping around in utter luxury, he can also peel out in his Mercedes-Maybach S600 which has a silky smooth 6-litre V12 engine.

Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes AMG GT R from his car collection.

Ferrari LaFerrari (amongst others!)

While Hamilton has been a Mercedes F1 driver for a decade, that doesn’t mean he’s immune to the charms of the ultimate boyhood dream machine – a red Ferrari.

While they may have been his on-track rivals over the course of his long F1 career, Hamilton is known to have had at least three Ferraris in his car collection.

These include a Ferrari LaFerrari, a Ferrari 599 SA Aperta, and a LaFerrari Aperta.

The LaFerraris use a hybrid 6.3 litre engine, producing over 900bhp, with Hamilton rumoured to have spent around £2.2 million in order to secure the Aperta version, and a further £1.4 million on the other.

Just 80 versions of the 599 were ever built, celebrating Pininfarina’s 80th anniversary, making it an extremely rare car in Hamilton’s collection. The price tag may be lower than the LaFerrari Aperta, but was still an estimated £1.7 million.

1966 Shelby Cobra 427 (article image)

While most of Hamilton’s collection consists of cutting-edge machinery from the world’s biggest supercar manufacturers, he has also splurged on some classic machinery.

One of these is a classic 1966 Shelby Cobra, estimated to be worth around £4 million – one of the most expensive machines Hamilton owns.

Kept in Los Angeles, Hamilton was frequently seen taking ex-girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger out for a drive in the exotic car during their time as a couple.

However, the longer Hamilton holds onto this car, the more it’s likely to appreciate – Cobra prices are expected to rise at auction and, together with its unique ownership, Hamilton’s pension could be secured from this one machine!

1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

Another classic in Hamilton’s car collection is a close replica of ‘Eleanor’ from the film ‘Gone in 60 Seconds’ – Hamilton spent £1.1 million to get his hands on a 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.

Following the purchase, Hamilton then had his car customised by an American tuner and bodyshop in order to bring it into the pristine condition it’s in today.

Lewis Hamilton's Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 from his car collection.

The days of Lewis Hamilton being associated with McLaren may be well behind us, but Hamilton himself has kept the brand close to his heart.

In 2015, three years after walking away from the McLaren F1 team that brought him into Formula 1, Hamilton splurged on a P1 supercar.

Boasting a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine, twinned with an electric motor, it produces 903 bhp – enough to hit a top speed of 217mph and 0-100 km/h in under 2.7 seconds.

The P1, the successor to the iconic F1, cost Hamilton around £1.2 million.

1995 McLaren F1

Following on the McLaren theme, Hamilton was once spotted in Beverly Hills in a silver McLaren F1 (Chassis 044, of course), in a clip circulated on social media, which once held the title as the fastest road car in the world when it was first released.

Only 64 were ever produced, and they have only gone up in value since. When Chassis 044 was put up for auction by Bonhams in 2017, the eventual staggering price it fetched was $15.62million (£12.3m) – and the identity of the buyer was not known for some time  until reports emerged that it was Hamilton who was in fact the car’s new owner.

The McLaren F1 is a masterpiece of design, with Chassis 044 housing just one seat with a central driving position, with its 6.1-litre V12 having clocked fewer than 10,000 miles at the time and just one previous owner, with a top speed of 243mph.

Buying a McLaren F1 now is even more expensive for prospective buyers, with another model selling for over $20m in 2021 to make it the most expensive road car ever auctioned.

What other cars or vehicles does Lewis Hamilton own?

While the above list of cars are machines that Hamilton is known to have had (or still has) ownership of, it’s highly likely the seven-time World Champion has quite a few other machines squirreled away for when he feels like keeping a lower profile.

Aside from his four-wheeled cars, Hamilton also has a Honda CRF450RX Motocross bike which he is known to ride around in the picturesque areas of California, while he also owns an electric Maverick X3 dune buggy.

While Hamilton may have access to a huge range of sportscars and supercars, the 38-year-old has chosen to be more environmentally conscious in his day-to-day driving.

Nowadays, Hamilton carries out his daily driving in an electric Mercedes EQC SUV, which cost him around £65,000.

Famously, Hamilton also once owned a private jet, a cherry-red Bombardier Challenger 605, which he used to fly around the world in his private life as well as to Formula 1 Grands Prix and tests.

But Hamilton sold the jet in 2019, citing a desire to become more environmentally conscious and to live a greener life.

The Formula 1 champ, 35, was pictured last week enjoying a yacht trip with a woman in Corsica, who The Sun can reveal is Florence.

Lewis Hamilton and Florence Mueller were seen enjoying a holiday with a group of friends

Lewis, who dated Nicole, 42, for seven years until their split in 2015, has liked a series of her photos on Instagram.

However, sources close to Lewis insist they are not a couple.

An insider said: “Lewis and Florence aren’t dating, they’re just good mates.

“She joined him on the boat as part of a group of pals with Lewis.

Lewis hamilton and his ‘new love’ live it up on philip green’s £100m yacht in corsica.

Formula One ace Lewis Hamilton has become known as one of the ‘wokest’ men in sport, while his good pal Philip Green is well-known for his controversies and scandals.

Yet the pioneering sportsman, 35, who was joined by model Florence Mueller, proved their friendship defies their politics as he was seen living it up on the disgraced fashion tycoon’s £100m superyacht, Lionheart on Monday.

It is the second time Lewis and his rumoured love interest Florence have joined the Topshop boss on his yacht, which is complete with helipad, pool, 15 crew cabins and room for 12 guests,as they have been taking to the highs seas between Lewis’ stints at the Formula One last weekend.

The appearance comes just days after the fashion mogul issued a grovelling apology in a humiliating U-turn over plans to exploit the government’s furlough pay cut loophole to reduce payments to staff his company Arcadia was making redundant.

Lewis, who hit headlines at the F1 over the weekend when he took a knee wearing a black T-Shirt with the message ‘Arrest the cops who killed Breonna Taylor’, has frequently spent time with Philip and the Green family, with the friendship seemingly blossoming at the 2015 Met Gala, where Lewis wore a Topshop suit.

Heading off: Lewis Hamilton has become known as one of the ‘wokest’ drivers in Formula One, while his good pal Philip Green is well-known for his controversies and scandals, yet they maintain a friendship and were seen together on Monday on the latter’s yacht

In 2015, Lewis thanked Phillip for ‘hooking him up’ with his invite to the prestigious Met Gala, where he wore Topman. Joined by Emily Ratajkowski, Bella Hadid, Hailey Baldwin and a host of other megastars who all wore custom Topshop to the event, Lewis sported the high street store for the most important night in fashion.

Since then, the duo have been spotted together in both a friendship and professional capacity, with Lewis often hanging out with Philip’s daughter Chloe. Like the Greens, Lewis owns property in tax-free Monaco, where he is believed to have a home in the exclusive Fontvieille district.

Lewis has been hitting headlines of late thanks to his admirable attempts at shining light on the Black Lives Matter movement in Formula One racing and it was announced on Tuesday that he has avoided any action by Formula One’s governing body for the T-shirt he wore at Sunday’s Tuscan Grand Prix.

Ahead of Sunday’s race, Hamilton took a knee wearing a black T-Shirt with the message ‘Arrest the cops who killed Breonna Taylor’, which sparked investigation.

The boys: The unlikely friends spent some quality time together on the high seas

Taylor, a 26-year-old black woman, was shot dead by police in her Louisville home six months ago. He then wore the T-shirt for his post-race interview, broadcast to millions around the world, before collecting the winner’s trophy and standing on the podium in the same clothing.

Philip meanwhile has been hitting headlines for very different reasons than his crusading pal.

In a humiliating U-turn, the tycoon’s retail empire issued a grovelling apology at the weekend for plans to exploit furlough rules to reduce payments to staff who it was making redundant.

Arcadia Group, which has taken tens of millions of pounds in taxpayer-funded furlough money, was savaged after it emerged that employees who were losing their jobs would miss out on money during their notice period.

In an extraordinary statement, the company crumbled, axeing the plan and apologising to its employees. Sources close to Sir Philip said he had ordered the U-turn after learning of the details of the proposed pay cut.

‘We recently implemented a policy for those employees who are working their notice on furlough to receive their furlough pay instead of their full pay,’ the company said in its statement.

The whole clan: Lewis has frequently spent time with Philip and the Green family, with the friendship seemingly blossoming at the 2015 Met Gala, where Lewis wore a Topshop suit (Lewis with Chloe, Tina and Philip Green in 2017)

‘We got this decision wrong and the board has today amended this policy to ensure all affected employees will receive their full pay. They will be notified of this decision immediately.

‘We are extremely sorry to all those individuals impacted for the distress that we have caused and apologise unreservedly.’

Arcadia, which includes the fashion brands Topshop, Miss Selfridge and Dorothy Perkins, is making 300 staff redundant at its head office after sales slumped during the coronavirus lockdown.

But it was revealed that bosses had planned to take advantage of a loophole in rules allowing it to pay axed staff at reduced rates during their notice period.

Arcadia made 300 staff at its head office redundant and paid then reduced rates for their notice period through a loophole in the government rules.

Lewis Hamilton escapes punishment for the ‘Arrest the cops’ Breonna Taylor t-shirt he wore at Tuscan Grand Prix

what is lewis hamilton's yacht called

Lewis Hamilton stood on the Mugello podium wearing a shirt calling for the arrest of police officers following the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor

Lewis Hamilton  will not be punished by the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) for wearing a t-shirt in honour of  Breonna Taylor  at the Tuscan Grand Prix last weekend.

The Mercedes driver sported a top which read: ‘Arrest the cops who killed Breonna Taylor’, referring to an African-American woman who was fatally shot by police officers in Louisville, Kentucky, earlier this year.

The governing body looked into whether the t-shirt breached its rules and concluded it did not – but the FIA appears to be moving to ensure there are no repeats by changing its guidelines. ‘The situation is under active consideration for a clarification that will be in place for the next race,’ a spokesman for the FIA told CNN.

This means Hamilton will be told not to wear that kind of t-shirt on the podium again.

British former world champion Damon Hill has given a scathing verdict on how Formula One has handled the controversy, saying Hamilton must not be silenced should he wish to protest.

Hill, 59, tweeted: ‘Such a mixed reaction to Lewis Hamilton’s T-shirt podium message.

‘But F1 has always had its head in the sand over any issue that might make people think about anything other than F1.

‘It has to make space for these messages if it is to be embraced by the wider world.’

Hamilton said on Instagram on Tuesday that he will continue to use his position to promote his views.

‘I want you to know that I won’t stop,’ he wrote. ‘I won’t let up. I won’t give up on using this platform to shed light on what I believe is right.

‘This is a journey for all of us to come together and challenge the world on every level of injustice, not only racial.

‘We can help make this a better place for our kids and the future generations.’

Reigning world champion Hamilton wore the t-shirt during the ‘taking a knee’ ceremony and on the podium following his 90th career win on Sunday.

The back of the top read: ‘Say her name’ as Hamilton paid tribute to the 26-year-old medical technician who was killed after her boyfriend opened fire on police during a drugs search at their house in March.

Hamilton also raised awareness of Breonna Taylor in his interview following the race.

He said: ‘It was like three races in one day. Just incredibly tough. We had a difficult start.

‘The heat and keeping Valtteri (Bottas) behind, who has been quick all weekend, was not easy. I was behind at the beginning. Total focus was needed for the restarts. It was really, really hard.

‘Keeping that over one-second gap was crucial as I didn’t want them [race rivals] to have DRS on that 1000m straight. Justice for Breonna Taylor.’

He also said: ‘I’ve been wanting to bring awareness to the fact there are people being killed on the street.

‘And someone was killed in her own house and they were in the wrong house and those guys are still walking free.’

The FIA had been considering whether Hamilton had breached article 1.2 of their statutes, which says: ‘The FIA shall refrain from manifesting discrimination on account of race, skin colour, gender, 𝑠e𝑥ual orientation, ethnic or social origin, language, religion, philosophical or political opinion, family situation or disability in the course of its activities and from taking any action in this respect.’

The FIA and the sport’s owners Liberty Media have previously tried hard to work with the Brit on his anti-racism fight.

It has become customary this season for Formula One drivers to gather in opposition to racism before the start of races.

Hamilton has been a vocal supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement ever since it rose to global prominence following the death of George Floyd in May.

Hamilton, who continues to lead the way for change in the sport, has used his platforms to condemn racial injustice with incidents such as the deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, and more recently the shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Since July, companies have been required by law to pay full pre-coronavirus salaries to those who have been made redundant and who are serving a statutory notice period. But the rule does not apply to employees whose contracts include a longer notice period, which is the case for many of Arcadia’s head office staff.

Arcadia seized on the loophole to pay these staff according to their furlough – and not their pre-crisis – rates of pay.

One executive at Arcadia reportedly told staff that the company needed to take ‘every penny we can get’ of public money. It would have saved the retail empire less than £1million.

The move meant some higher-earning staff were set to receive just 50 per cent of the notice period pay they would have been entitled to if Arcadia had not taken advantage of the furlough scheme.

A senior employee earning £100,000 would, for example, normally have been paid a full monthly salary of £5,553 during their notice period, but would have received just £2,777 under the ditched plan.

The company’s stance was in stark contrast to other big chains, including John Lewis, Marks & Spencer, WH Smith, Boots and Dixons Carphone, which say all redundancy packages are based on full pay.

While Lewis has made his anti-racism crusade well-known, Philip was hit with shocking allegations in 2018. It was claimed that he had perpetrated racism and 𝑠e𝑥ual harassment – yet at the time he told The Mail on Sunday he had suffered ‘the worst week of my life’.

The Topshop boss was identified as the man who had taken out an injunction preventing publication of allegations about his harassment of staff, which he strenuously denies.

Speaking after the scandal erupted, the Topshop owner said that he had indulged in nothing more than ‘banter’ with his staff, claiming he had a good relationship with those who worked for him.

He added: ‘I’m very, very, very upset. I’m being used as target practice when there is zero [evidence] that anyone has turned up with. It’s injuring my business, all the people potentially working in the business, and it’s injuring me and my family.’

Florence is part of Next Model Management’s Miami roster and also works with Click Models, she is fluent in English, Spanish, and German and also has her own Only Fans account. With her long limbs, toned abs and luscious raven locks, Florence bore a striking resemblance to his former flame, Nicole Scherzinger.

But a source speaking to The Sun on Sunday claimed that Lewis and the model were strictly friends, as they claimed they were ‘just good mates.’The inside said: ‘Lewis and Florence aren’t dating, they’re just good mates. She joined him on the boat as part of a group of pals with Lewis.

‘They get on but there’s nothing romantic going on between them at the moment.’ MailOnline has contacted Lewis’ representatives for comment.

Flashing away: Philip seemed to be keen to give Florence a run for her money as he too was flashing his stomach

Lewis and Nicole called time on their on and off eight year relationship in 2015 but have remained amicable, reuniting last year at the Fashion Awards in London in December.

Speaking about their split during an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show, Nicole revealed: ‘I don’t see anything negative.

‘I think it’s quite natural when people separate and go their own ways and you just have to be adult about it and just always wish the other person happiness, success and love like sincerely and I do.’

When asked whether they still stay in touch, the Poison hitmaker – who first started seeing the race car driver in 2007 – was frank in her admission.

She added: ‘Yeah we don’t, like, talk. I think that he is the best driver since Ayrton Senna and I think that he’s probably going to win this year and I only wish him happiness and success.’

The American beauty is now dating retired British rugby player Thom Evans after meeting on Celebrity X Factor at the end of last year.

They may have been dating for less than a year, but Nicole and Thom are clearly devoted to one another and divide their time between her LA pad and London.

Lewis Hamilton Called Driver In ‘Clear Decline’ As Englishman Replacing Carlos Sainz At Ferrari Raises Eyebrows

L ewis Hamilton's candidacy to succeed Carlos Sainz has come under immense scrutiny by the Spanish media, and he has received harsh criticism for it. After 2024, when the Spaniard's contract expires, the British driver may take his spot.

Lewis Hamilton exercised his right to leave his Mercedes contract early in order to join Ferrari. The driver would sign a multi-year contract to join the Italian club. The doors to Maranello closed for Carlos Sainz at the same moment, leaving him without a place to live until 2025.

Carlos Sainz won a podium in Bahrain's opening race this year as he was a man on a mission. Tragic events occurred in Jeddah when he was forced to miss games due to appendix surgery.

On his return, though, Sainz surprised everyone by winning the Melbourne race. Lewis Hamilton has been having a lot of trouble at Mercedes with the car under him.

Following Carlos Sainz's victory, the Spanish press was fervently supporting their driver while strongly denouncing Hamilton. Marca, among other Spanish publications, wrote that a documentary would have been produced about Sainz if he had been a British driver.

“Sainz’s feat would deserve a complete documentary if he were British like Lewis Hamilton, with a victory days after undergoing surgery for appendicitis and with three incisions still in his abdomen, which must have bothered him on the torture rack for the body that is F1."

F1: Lewis Hamilton's Horrific Weekend Turns Sour As Another Mercedes Engine Failure Forces Early Retirement In Australian GP

"In the offices of Maranello, or rather Turin, they made a decision to do without their currently best driver, already in 2023 ahead of Charles Leclerc, to place a driver in clear decline not so much in talent as in morale and of attitude, as the seven-time champion has been demonstrating in recent times."

The story continued by asserting that Sainz's dismissal from Ferrari in favour of Hamilton was a marketing move with no bearing on the decision's racing merits. The article continued by saying that Hamilton's current momentum, despite George Russell outperforming him at Mercedes, just implies that he will eventually lose to Charles Leclerc at Ferrari.

Lewis Hamilton laments ‘worst start to season ever’ after Australia retirement

  • Mercedes driver admits this season is ‘worse than 2009’
  • Team principal Toto Wolff says lack of progress has been brutal

Lewis Hamilton described the worst Formula One season start of his career as tough on the spirit and warned it was a challenge leaving him in danger of just going through the motions, after he and Mercedes endured a dismal weekend at the Australian Grand Prix.

The seven-time champion’s team principal at Mercedes, Toto Wolff, was equally blunt in his assessment, describing it as brutally painful, conceding it was a fair question to ask if it was time he stepped down from the role and that he felt neither positive nor optimistic about his team’s situation.

Hamilton retired with an engine failure on lap 17 of the race in Melbourne, which was won by Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz .

The British driver has been off the pace all weekend, qualifying only in 11th and making little progress in the race when his engine gave out. He has scored only eight points in three races this season, taking seventh in Bahrain and ninth in Saudi Arabia, a worse return than his previous opening nadir in 2009 of a disqualification, sixth and seventh.

This is the third year in succession Mercedes have failed to deliver a car capable of competing at the front and this season have been outpaced not only by world champions Red Bull, but also by Ferrari and on this form in Australia, McLaren.

After leaving his stricken car at the side of the track in Albert Park Hamilton admitted another season of struggle to little avail was far from inspiring.

“This is the worst start to the season I’ve ever had for sure and it’s worse than 2009,” he said. “It’s tough on the spirit for everyone in the team. When so much work is going on throughout the winter for everybody, you come in excited, motivated and driven, and then you’re with the mindset that you’re going to be fighting for wins.

“Then obviously that’s not the case and you’re like: ‘Okay, maybe second, third’. No, it’s not the case, and it cascades a bit further down and you just go through the motions. It’s challenging.”

George Russell is helped from his crashed Mercedes

His teammate George Russell crashed out on the final lap but had made it no higher than seventh, ending a very disappointing weekend for Mercedes.

They had entered the year having adopted an entirely new design philosophy for their car and were optimistic the new season would bring greater returns. Instead the problems seem all too familiar, the car is not performing as predicted in the wind tunnel and does not present a stable, reliable platform from one race to the next.

Wolff, who joined Mercedes in 2013 – the same year as Hamilton – and who has been beside the British driver as he secured six titles with the team, conceded it had been a bitter start to 2024.

“You see the progress that McLaren and Ferrari have made, so on one side, I want to punch myself on the nose,” he said. “We have got to really dig deep because it is brutally painful.

“I would be lying if I said I feel positive and optimistic about the situation. You need to overcome the negative thoughts and say ‘we will turn it around’, but today it feels very, very, very brutal.”

The 52-year-old, who is a one-third shareholder in Mercedes, also admitted it was reasonable to ask if he was the right person to lead the team but insisted he would not be stepping down.

“I look at myself in the mirror every single day about everything I do and it is a fair question but it [leaving] is not what I feel that I should do at the moment,” he said.

“If you ask the manager question, I cannot go to Chelsea or Liverpool or over to Ferrari, I have not got that choice [as a co-owner] which is also unfortunate. I am not a contractor or an employee, who has said: ‘I have had enough of this’. My hamster wheel keeps spinning and I cannot jump out.”
