The B120’s beach club is actually elevated by more than two feet, meaning that you don’t have to walk down to it as you do with most vessels in this class. It also connects seamlessly to the swim platform, ensuring you have quick and easy access to the seas. Bering says the yacht is brimming with outdoor relaxation areas for alfresco lounging or dining.

Penned in partnership with Sabdes Design and Phathom Design, the elegant exterior is characterized by sleek, dynamic lines. The height of the superstructure was reduced to create more balanced proportions, as many explorers tend to feel too high in this size segment, according to Bering.

The B120’s living quarters were brought to life by Phathom. (This is the first time Bering has collaborated with the Dutch design agency.) Light and creamy tones are contrasted by dramatic pops of color and texture. The metallic elements, in particular, shine bright due to the abundance of natural light.

With an interior volume of 437 GT, the yacht can accommodate 12 guests and nine crew over its four decks. A typical layout may include four cabins on the main deck and two on the lower deck. Creating secluded, private areas would make the vessel well-suited to charter.

As standard, the B120 is equipped with twin diesel engines that give her a cruising speed of between 10 and 12 knots and a maximum speed of 14 knots. In addition, a tank capacity of 54,100 liters allows her to store enough fuel for a range of over 4,000 nautical miles.

Magnitude 6.9 quake hits in Bering Sea, off Alaska: USGS

(Reuters) - A strong 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck in the Bering Sea, off the coast of Alaska's Aleutian Islands on Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey said, but it was not expected to cause a tsunami. The quake's epicenter was 127 miles (204 km) northwest of Attu Station, part of the Aleutian Islands archipelago. The quake was very shallow, at a depth of only 2.7 miles, the USGS said. New Flagship for Bering Yachts: The B165

  • By Yachting Staff
  • March 19, 2024

Bering Yachts , known for its steel expedition-style trawler yachts, introduced a new flagship B165 explorer yacht at the Dubai International Boat Show.

“She keeps all the ruggedness, stability, range and all-weather capability while representing a Mediterranean and Caribbean approach to life: easygoing, relaxed and full of comfort,” the company stated in a press release. “You are still traveling in your home, but with so much more open space and fresh air that the onboard life becomes a full-circle indoor and outdoor experience.”

The shipyard describes the B165 as “Bering to the bone, but with a luxury twist.” On the main deck’s elongated after section, there’s a swimming pool surrounded by sunbeds. Folding bulwarks can expand this relaxation even more, and the pool can be covered for use as stowage for water toys and other equipment. There’s also space here for two tenders.

Inside on the main deck are dining and lounging areas, along with two VIP staterooms. An additional room at the bow can be outfitted as a guest stateroom, or as an onboard cinema.

The owners’ deck has more than 750 square feet of space, including a sleeping area, a head, and a lounge with a bar, table and seating. An open space aft on the owners’ deck has a table for alfresco dining, while at the bow, there’s a hot tub and a lounge. Crew have access to a private service room for preparing and serving meals, with a dumbwaiter that connects to a similar service area on the main deck, and to the galley on the lower deck.

Also on the lower deck are three guest staterooms, four cabins to accommodate eight crew, and a crew mess. An additional cabin on this deck can be used for supernumeraries such as nannies, guides and masseurs.

Up on the bridge deck, there’s a lounge with a bar, an outdoor cinema, a day head and a firepit. The captain’s quarters are here as well.

Above that deck is a crow’s nest with a hardtop where guests can have an unobstructed 360-degree view of the yacht’s surroundings.

Eco-friendly design is also inherent in the Bering 165, according to company founder Alexei Mikhailov: “We are building responsibly. Designing a large engine room, we definitely had alternative energy solutions in mind. There is plenty of space to accommodate hybrid applications and install a big battery bank.”

Power for the 499-gross-ton vessel will be twin 1,300-horsepower Caterpillar C32 engines, with a reported cruise speed of 12 knots and a maximum speed of 15 knots. Fuel capacity is nearly 18,500 gallons, which the team at Bering says gives the B165 a range of more than 4,000 nautical miles. ABT-Trac systems are installed for guest comfort.

Does the Bering Yachts B165 have a steel hull? Yes, with an aluminum superstructure.

Bering B72 first look: Ocean crossing follow-up looks even more capable

  • Top stories

Between them, the three B65s which precede this all-new Bering B72 have covered over 100,000 nautical miles.

So it’s fair to say that their owners and captains were in a solid position to deliver some feedback when it came to updating that particular model.

Without wanting to stray away from the success of the 65’s underpinnings and its rugged aesthetic, Bering has endowed the B72 with greater volume, better equipment and more storage space to create an even more capable ocean-bashing cruiser.

The interesting thing about the Bering B72 is that despite having the no-nonsense look of an expedition yacht, a tough steel hull, displacement of nearly 120 tonnes and a staggering cruising range of 5,000nm at 7 knots, on board it doesn’t submit to the teak-lined styling of a traditional ocean-going cruiser like a Nordhavn or a Fleming .

A US brand but built in Antalya, Turkey, Bering prides itself on its willingness to customise its boats for individual owners and that is reflected in the layout of the B72.

The standard configuration comprises three cabins with an owner’s suite in the bow but there is the option to have five or six cabins on the lower deck with or without crew quarters.

The deck spaces, though functional, still have an eye on comfort – as well as the protected cockpit dinette and seating on the flybridge there is also a sofa and table on the foredeck.

For those who want something with bluewater capabilities but crave some more panache, Bering is right on the money.
