Russian Oligarch’s 'Black Pearl' at the Center of Huge Legal Dispute Over His Fortune
By: Scott Way
Pirates weren't the type to write a will, but the one written by a Russian billionaire who owned the Black Pearl is now the focus of an epic estate battle. It seems there is no hiding on the seven seas.
The 350-foot long $200 million Black Pearl sailing yacht was commissioned by Russian oligarch Oleg Burlakov, who passed away in June at age 72. Burlakov was a self-made industrial tycoon with the nickname "The Cement King" who had business dealings across the chemical, aerospace, and energy industries. He was also a patriot and served in the Russian Air Force, then under the USSR moniker, through the 70's and 80's with a distinguished record. Upon leaving the military he invested heavily in the oil industry and eventually took control of one of Russia's biggest national companies, Novoroscement. He also later took the helm of oil exploration company Burneftgaz. When he sold Novoroscement in 2007 for $1.5 billion and Burneftegaz in 2014 for $1 billion, his fortune became massive. Oleg and his wife Lyudmila moved to Canada in 1995, and he was laid to rest in July 2021 in North York, a borough of Toronto. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, and two daughters Elena and Veronica.
Aside from his wealth and economic pursuits, Burlakov was also considered an eco-sailing pioneer for his work developing the Black Pearl , which he commissioned in 2010. The unique sailing yacht is widely considered an engineering feat due to both its size and self-sustaining construction. The ship carries three carbon fiber masts with over 31,000 sq ft of sail area, and has a maximum speed of 30 knots (35 mph) under wind power. The sails themselves absorb solar power to run the ship's electronic systems. The ship's builder, Oceanco , claims the Black Pearl can cross the Atlantic unsupported without burning any fossil fuel (although it does have diesel engines as backups).
But despite his wealth and influence Burlakov's death has triggered one of the biggest estate battles in human history. His first will, allegedly written in 2004, gave his entire fortune to his wife and daughters. However, three years ago Burlakov was accused of infidelity and he and his wife Lyudmila were in the midst of divorce proceedings at the time of his death. Now, a mysterious second will has emerged that favours Burlakov's sister and brother-in-law. The second will is apparently a two-page handwritten document written in a notebook that was discovered after Burlakov's death.
The assets in dispute include more than just the Black Pearl . There is also a $100 million mansion in Monaco, a private jet, and an estimated $4 billion in cash. The legal battle is taking place in court in Monaco, Italy, but focuses on a series of meetings between Burlakov and his wife and daughters in London in 2018. There, the family claims, Burlakov began a fraudulent scheme to hide his wealth and put it in the hands of his brother-in-law Nikolai Kazakov. According to Lyudmila and the daughters, Oleg claimed an agreement had always been in place with Kazakov for the bulk of his wealth. The meetings in 2018 didn't come to a resolution, and now with the appearance of a handwritten second will that favours Kazakov, the legal battle is just starting to set sail.
As for the Black Pearl , she is the second largest sailing yacht in the world behind fellow Russian billionaire Andrey Melnichenko's 469-foot Sailing Yacht A (although they were both set to get bumped down by Jeff Bezos' rumored 500-footer ). She was built by Dutch shipyard Oceanco, who also built Sailing Yacht A and are rumoured to be building the Bezos yacht. The ship is equipped with a unique propulsion system that harnesses solar energy generated while under sail, meaning it rarely needs to use its diesel engines to power its internal systems or provide propulsion. Each of her three carbon fiber masts is a staggering 229 feet high, and her custom-built DynaRig sails can be set in just seven minutes. Below deck there is room for 12 guests, a spa swimming pool, a hot tub, a cinema, and a beach club.
As for the legal proceedings, things are just heating up as Oleg's mistress Sofia Shevtsova has now entered the fray. The 27 year old Russian woman is threating to have Burlakov exhumed for a DNA sample to prove he fathered her child. If that proves true, Shevtsova will also be entering the legal battle for a share of the fortune.

£3bn fortune and Black Pearl superyacht at heart of oligarch’s bitter battle over will
An oligarch’s £150 million superyacht named the Black Pearl and his £3 billion fortune are at the centre of a bitter international feud which has torn his family apart.
When Oleg Bourlakov died from Covid in June, the 72-year-old left behind an unfinished divorce battle with his wife Loudmila and a raging battle over brother-in-law and business partner Nikolai Kazakov’s stake in his fortune.
The billionaire , who made his money through energy and cement in Russia , was married to Mrs Bourlakova for 47 years but their marriage collapsed three years before his death when she learned he had a mistress in her twenties who claimed to have had his child.
Mrs Bourlakova, 70, with her daughters Elena and Veronica, claims she fell victim to “fraud on an epic scale” when her husband — facing a costly divorce — allegedly planned to hide his assets and hand vast sums over to Mr Kazakov.
Since his death, the family are now locked in another dispute over the ultimate fate of his fortune, including the 107-metre Black Pearl and a £75 million home in Monaco.
Mr Bourlakov, a former Air Force officer who survived an assassination bid in 2018 when shots were fired at his car, had a showdown meeting with his wife in London in April 2018 when he allegedly first suggested Mr Kazakov had a stake in his £3 billion fortune and the divorce pot would have to be halved.
Helen Davies QC, for Mrs Bourlakova, said the businessman later claimed he had “debts in the hundreds of millions of dollars which further reduced the value of the Bourlakov family’s assets,” the High Court heard. “These statements were lies, which Mr Bourlakov confected in order to obtain Mrs Bourlakova’s assets and retain the vast majority of the family’s assets.”
The legal fight over his estate is now accompanied by a row over his dying wishes. Mr Bourlakov’s 2004 will left everything to his wife, but a second handwritten will from 2019 — on two pages of a notebook and leaving his fortune to the Kazakovs — has been found.
Mrs Bourlakov and her daughters claim the document is “a forgery and/or invalid” and are challenging it in court proceedings in Monaco.
At the High Court, Mr Kazakov and his wife dispute allegations of fraud, and say Mrs Bourlakov used underhand tactics to get her hands on disputed assets from the marriage.
The legal dispute began in Monaco in December 2018 when Mrs Bourlakova filed for divorce and division of the family assets, and she later brought an £8.6 million compensation against the Kazakovs in the UK courts. The Kazakovs argue the feud should be decided in its entirety in Monaco, the “centre of gravity” for the dispute.
Mr Justice Trower is due to rule at a later date whether Mrs Bourlakova’s High Court claim against the Kazakovs and five linked companies can go ahead in London.

Step Inside the Black Pearl Yacht
Care for the environment is at the very heart of this game-changing superyacht's design.
By Emma Al-Mousawi
Standing at 350-ft, Black Pearl is the world’s largest sailing yacht and is estimated to have cost in excess of $200m. The unique vessel was garnering global attention long before her maiden voyage thanks to her revolutionary design, eco-credentials and technological advancements, all of which have set a new industry standard and seen her scoop up numerous awards for innovation.
Delivered in 2018 by Dutch shipyard Oceanco, the three-mast yacht is said to be the realization of a radical vision “to build something that was out of the ordinary in every way,” according to the ship’s captain Chris Gartner.

This unmistakable vessel is not the product of one designer but in fact the result of an ambitious cross-industry collaboration between some of international yachting’s greatest creative minds. UK-based Ken Freivokh Design (responsible for the iconic Maltese Falcon ) and Italian studio Nuvolari Lenard (behind Steven Speilberg’s Seven Seas yacht) teamed up to create her striking exterior.
However, it is not just her aesthetics that sets her apart, but also her utilization of the very latest green technology, which according to Oceanco, has rendered her capable of crossing the Atlantic without using any fuel. “How?” one might ask.
Let’s start with her three imposing 230-ft DynaRig carbon masts designed by Dykstra Naval Architects. The innovative structure sees her sails subdivided into smaller sections that can be set or furled at the touch of a button.

“The key to the DynaRig’s effectiveness is just how easy it makes sailing Black Pearl rather than relying on propulsion from fossil fuels,” says Gartner. “With a single person able to set 2,900-meters-sq (31, 215-sq-ft) of sail area in just under seven minutes, we can quickly and simply turn off the main engines and harness the power of the wind, which costs nothing and is better for the environment.”

In fact, under sail, the yacht can reach an incredible 30 knots and regenerate enough energy to power the boat’s full house load, removing the need to run generators.

Black Pearl is also powered by an advanced hybrid propulsion system that Oceanco designed in collaboration with specialist consultancy BMT Nigel Gee. Gartner explains how the complex system generates electricity through the vessel’s spinning propellers: “Her hybrid propulsion installation has two shaft lines, each with a controllable pitch propeller.
In normal sailing mode, the propellers are set to minimize drag and prevent the shafts from turning. But when we want to harvest some of that kinetic energy to be stored and used onboard, the pitch of the propellers is altered to create a lifting force as the water passes over them. This rotates the shafts, which are connected to a permanent magnet electric propulsion motor, effectively converting the wind energy that is moving Black Pearl through the water into electrical energy.”

Her interiors – which remain a closely guarded secret – were also designed by Nuvolari Lenard and French architect Gerard Villate. Other than that, what we do know is that she has six cabins providing accommodation for up to 12 guests, including a master suite and two VIP cabins. Black Pearl’s total interior volume is a roomy 2,700 GT, significantly overshadowing the world’s second-largest sailing yacht the EOS at 1,500 GT.
No actual pictures of the inside of the vessel have ever been released but according to Nuvolari Lenard, the interior is a celebration of Louis XVI French design (think elaborate neoclassical touches like wood carvings, gold accents and sumptuous fabrics) as well as some art deco touches.
The Italian design studio has also shared a handful of interior renderings to give us a hint of what may lie inside the Black Pearl yacht. These include an elaborately decorated dining room that can seat up to 16 guests. We would expect to see this same level of grandeur throughout her accommodation.

Black Pearl is said to have a wealth of recreational spaces spread across her three decks, though due to her secretive nature, little information has been published as to what delights she offers her passengers. Aerial photographs reveal a pool aft of the main deck as well as a hot tub aft of the upper deck. There is also a fold-down platform at the aft of the yacht which is likely to transform into a full-beam beach club.
Ken Freivokh Design features a mysterious unnamed 328-ft-plus DynaRig yacht on its website which some may speculate could give us an insight into the luxury facilities on board the vessel. The unidentified yacht includes a substantial toy and tender garage housing two limousine tenders, a hydroplane and a range of utility tenders and jet skis.
It is also said to feature a helipad and an extending forward deck that can be used for entertaining guests as well as spotting dolphins. If that wasn’t enough, other out-of-this-world amenities include a glass-fronted swimming pool and an aquarium. Could Black Pearl host similar facilities? It’s anyone’s guess.
A true sailing vessel, the Black Pearl yacht is built for adventure and her lower carbon footprint means her voyages are much kinder to the planet than those of a typical motor yacht of similar stature.

By Nina Done 13 January 2023
It has just been announced that the iconic 107m (350ft) sailing yacht BLACK PEARL is ready to welcome her first charter guests on board from the A-lister-approved superyacht hub of St Barts . Now you too can be among the first to experience the ground-breaking yacht for yourselves on a Caribbean yacht charter this winter.
Delivered in 2018 by the renowned Dutch yard Oceanco , the award-winning tri-deck sailing yacht has been hailed as an innovative triumph, with its iconic DynaRig sailing system, high-tech design and wave-piercing bow, and has been turning heads ever since.
BLACK PEARL is one of the largest and most ecological sailing yachts in the world, capable of crossing the entire Atlantic burning just 20 liters of fuel thanks in part to her DynaRig sailing system and an innovative propulsion system that harvests kinetic energy under sail.
Her striking exteriors are from the boards of the illustrious Nuvolari Lenard and Ken Freivokh, while her naval architecture comes courtesy of Dyksra Architects, who previously worked on the renowned sailing yacht MALTESE FALCON , from which she drew her inspiration.
Her interiors, penned by Valentina Zannier and architect Gerard Villate, have long been kept under wraps, but now they have been revealed to showcase a luxurious palette with design cues from the neoclassic Louis XIV period, characterized by elegance and refinement, with touches of gilded opulence throughout. So, as sleek and slightly menacing as she may seem from the outside, she is the very essence of sumptuous luxury on the inside.
Sailing yacht BLACK PEARL provides accommodation for up to 12 charter guests across 5 beautifully-appointed suites.
On board highlights include vast alfresco deck spaces replete with an array of sun loungers, a Jacuzzi and bar for the perfect daytime hangout while on charter, as well as a 4,000-bottle wine cellar and tasting room, and a beach club featuring ceiling lights mimicking the night sky constellations for an added ethereal touch. She also boasts a wealth of convivial social and dining areas for her guests to enjoy while on board.

- The real Black Pearl: a modern luxury super yacht
Many of us associate the Black Pearl with the infamous Captain Jack Sparrow . Although this superyacht may not be quite as magical as the ship in Pirates of the Caribbean and likely won't magically be shrunk inside a bottle, it will still blow your mind.
Built by the Dutch company Oceanco, this three-masted sailing yacht extends 106.7 metres in length , firmly securing its position as the largest sailing boat in the world . It was owned by Russian billionaire Oleg Burlakov from 2018 who sadly passed away this June at the age of 72, but it remains under the ownership of his family. In addition to his business ventures in the energy, aerospace and chemical industries, he will be largely remembered as the owner and visionary behind the revolutionary Black Pearl .

The Black Pearl is an ecological super yacht
Production of this pioneering eco-friendly sailboat began on July 7, 2010 and was fully completed six years later , launching in 2017. One of its key technologies is power regeneration, using its speed through the water under sail to generate electricity with a variable pitch propeller. This is effectively combined with a hybrid propulsion system and numerous innovative features, such as waste-heat recovery.

This megayacht has three decks and six luxury cabins . And by luxury, we mean that these are not just cabins, with each cabin being connected to its very own private lounge. The cabins are divided into a main suite, 2 VIP suites and 2 double guest cabins and according to the manufacturer, it can accommodate 12 guests.
How fast can the Black Pearl sail?
Although the maximum speed is specified by the manufacturer as being 15 kn flat, under full sail and in good winds, it’s much faster . Its captain, Chris Gartner, believed that the moment the Black Pearl proved her sailing ability, there would be renewed interest in sailing yachts. And he was right because believe us, if you think you're flying as fast as the wind at 8 knots, that’s nothing. This beauty can sail at a leisurely 18 knots and using very little fossil fuel.
When you see the Black Pearl deploy her black sails, it's a sight to behold but to see her at sea is a true marvel. And if you can't imagine what it's like, check out the video when we encountered her at the harbour.

Black Pearl Sailing Yacht Photographed Leaving Amsterdam
The 106 metre sailing yacht Black Pearl , the largest sailing yacht in the world, has been captured leaving the port of Amsterdam.
Black Pearl is now heading south to Gibraltar following a two week stopover in the capital.
Delivered in 2018, the 106.7 metre Oceanco sailing yacht was sold by Moran Yacht and Ship in 2012 and launched in September 2016.
Instantly recognisable with her black sails and Dynarig set-up, Black Pearl is the largest sailing yacht in the world. Delivered during the same year as 142.81 metre Sailing Yacht A (officially designated as a sail-assisted motor yacht), she spent five years in development at dutch yard Oceanco.
Dykstra Naval Architects, Ken Freivokh, Nuvolari Lenard, BMT Nigel Gee and Gerard P Villate all contributed their expertise to this monumental project.
Black Pearl is a tri-deck sailing yacht and was built from a steel hull and an aluminium superstructure. Accommodation for 12 guests is split across six cabins and her 15-metre beam allows for a total interior volume of 2,700GT.
Auxiliary power comes from a pair of MTU 12V2000M72 diesel engines for a top speed of 17.5 knots. However, thanks to her three 70-metre Dynarig carbon masts and 2,900 square metres of sails, it is when under wind power that Black Pearl truly comes in to her own.
Built to Lloyd’s Registry standards, Black Pearl is registered in the Cayman Islands.

Pirates Of The Caribbean: The 15 Best Jack Sparrow Quotes

The Pirates of the Caribbean series is among the more legendary film sagas in no small part due to Captain Jack Sparrow. Johnny Depp's hilarious portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow has helped it become beloved by many, leaving moviegoers looking forward to every new installment to the franchise. A new Pirates of the Caribbean theme park has been officially announced to open in the Caribbean in 2025, and fans are celebrating the news by sharing their favorite Jack Sparrow quotes.
Jack Sparrow's bumbling demeanor has contributed to cinema's funniest lines. Johnny Depp's Drunken Pirate never fails to entertain audiences; his words have been frequently shared online. Jack is also capable of delivering some surprising words of wisdom, suggesting that there is hidden intelligence behind his seemingly incompetent nature.
Updated on August 20, 2024, by Natasha Elder : Jack Sparrow is not only one of the most iconic Pirates of the Caribbean characters but also one of the most iconic characters in film. His quotes define his character just as much, if not more, than his actions. This article has been updated to emphasize the importance of more of his most memorable quotes and add more detail as to why these quotes are so great.
15 "Have You Not Met Will Turner?"
Pirates of the caribbean: dead man's chest.
Have you not met Will Turner? He's noble, heroic, terrific soprano. Worth at least four...maybe three and a half.
15 Most Questionable Storylines in The Pirates of the Caribbean
The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has grossed billions of dollars, but it still has its fair share of questionable storylines.
The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise revitalized the pirate genre due to its popularity. The first three films focused heavily on Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, and Elizabeth Swann's unlikely friendship. The trio may betray each other throughout the original Pirates trilogy, but despite their dishonest behavior, they remain a tight-knit group at the end of the day. Jack's respect for Will is definitively shown in Dead Man's Chest when he confronts Davy Jones over Jack's blood debt with him.
Although Jack may be selfishly attempting to save himself by manipulating Davy Jones into choosing Will Turner over him to serve onboard the Flying Dutchman, it still shows how highly he thinks of his friend. Jack describes Will as "noble" and “heroic.” Despite the reason for the words, it is clear that Jack Sparrow admires Will greatly and thinks of him as a greater hero than he will ever be .
14 "I Was Bluffing."
Pirates of the caribbean: dead men tell no tales.
You mean it's true? I was bluffing.
Johnny Depp’s portrayal of Jack Sparrow is one of the main reasons the franchise has been as successful as it has been, which is one reason the reboot's success is in question . His delivery of Jack Sparrow lines such as this turn a somewhat funny line into a hilarious one. In Dead Men Tell No Tales , Jack Sparrow alludes to the fact that Barbossa is Carina’s father by alluding to an interaction between them with a woman named Margaret Smyth.
When Barbossa snaps at him to take this secret to their grave, Jack responds that he was bluffing and didn’t know the event was true. This serves as a lighthearted moment for audiences and a good representation of Jack’s cleverness . He managed to get confirmation of his suspicions through a brief exchange while hardly having to try.
13 "Did Everyone See That?"
Pirates of the caribbean: on stranger tides.
Did everyone see that? Because I will not be doing that again.
As was made clear through his iconic character introduction , Jack Sparrow was a pirate to watch out for. His luck managed to get him through situations that would have killed anyone else, and that fact remains true from the moment he steps off that sinking ship onto a pier until the end of the series when he sails off into the distance. Throughout the series, there are many moments where he manages to surprise even himself.
This Jack Sparrow quote summarizes this sentiment perfectly, as he would most likely never be able to replicate any of his very lucky feats. Additionally, the quote nicely alludes to the fact that he likes the attention he attracts for his antics . He wants others to see his impressive achievements and spread the news so that his reputation gets boosted.
12 "I'm Free Forever."
Pirates of the caribbean: at world's end.
I'm free forever. Free to sail the seas beyond the edges of the map, free from death itself.
The supernatural plays a key role in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, especially considering that Jack owns and frequently uses one of the most overpowered movie items , which is magical in nature, the Compass. One of the main paranormal entities in Jack's world is Davy Jones. At World's End, Jack considers freeing Will from Davy Jones' curse by becoming the Flying Dutchman's Captain.
This At World's End quote reflects some excellent character development for Jack, who has gone from betraying Will to contemplating freeing him from the curse . Even though he would spend his time ferrying dead souls to the afterlife, Jack is tempted by the prospect of immortality. Mostly, though, he wishes to take on the curse so that Will and Elizabeth can lead a peaceful married life.
11 "The Only Rules That Matter Are These: What A Man Can Do And What A Man Can't Do."
Pirates of the caribbean: the curse of the black pearl.
The only rules that matter are these: what a man can do and what a man can't do.
Pirates have a reputation for being untrustworthy, which is routinely proven through the betrayal and dastardly actions of Pirates of the Caribbean' s best villains . This makes Will's decision to team up with the notorious pirate Jack Sparrow all the more interesting. The Curse Of The Black Pearl showcases their first time teaming up to save Elizabeth from Barbarossa. The two men must work through their vast differences, resulting from their different lifestyles, to save the day.
This superb dialogue from Curse Of The Black Pearl comes as Jack tells Will he needs his help sailing his ship to Tortuga. It highlights the importance of the pirate code in Jack's lifestyle . As Jack states, the "only rules" are what a person can or can't do, and this lawless society gives them the freedom to do as they please without anybody being able to hold them back.
10 "Did No One Come To Save Me Just Because They Missed Me?"
Did no one come to save me just because they missed me?
How This Vintage Disney Classic Inspired the Pirates of the Caribbean Franchise
Though Pirates of the Caribbean is one of Disney's most profitable franchises, Treasure Island shows that it comes from much more humble beginnings.
Even though At World's End is a divisive Pirates Of The Caribbean movie, there are still many things to enjoy in the motion picture. A case in point is Jack's grand return after being consumed by the Kraken during Dead Man's Chest's conclusion. His expectations for a hero's welcome are dashed when his crew doesn't seem to care about his reappearance. While this Jack Sparrow line would have most likely been sad in a different film, Johnny Depp’s delivery makes it humorous instead.
Jack's response to their non-reaction is among Pirates Of The Caribbean 's funniest scenes. He tries to spin a positive outlook on how nobody came to save him by claiming it was because they missed him. While Jack can be devious, he can also be laughably oblivious to how he's perceived by others, believing himself to be adored by his shipmates .
9 "Not All Treasure is Silver and Gold, Mate."
Pirates of the caribbean: the curse of the black pearl.
Not all treasure is silver and gold, mate.
While Elizabeth Swann is not only integral to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise because of her status as Will Turner’s love interest but is a well-written female adventurer and pirate , there is no denying that the romance between the two is central to both their arcs. In the first film, Will’s motivation to work with Jack Sparrow is to rescue Elizabeth from the clutches of Barbossa.
During this, Will comments on Jack’s obsession with treasure, to which he responds with this famous dialogue. It is astute of Jack to recognize that some of the most important things are not monetary in nature. Instead, people can be just as important, if not more so, than gems or valuable ores . It is perhaps not that surprising given his love of the Black Pearl .
8 “I’m Dishonest, And A Dishonest Man You Can Always Trust To Be Dishonest.”
I'm dishonest. And a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly, it's the honest ones you want to watch out for...
Jack Sparrow has always been upfront about his deceitful nature. A pirate's life involves never being able to trust others, meaning that Jack prioritizes looking after himself first. This aspect of his personality is referenced in The Curse Of The Black Pearl when he reflects on his dishonesty to Barbarossa, one of the moments that confirmed Pirates of the Caribbean as one of the best comedy adventure movies . While he mainly aims to manipulate Barbossa into giving him what he wants, it is also a funny interaction.
This fun speech by Jack takes a uniquely positive stance on the notion of being untrustworthy . It is hard to fault the logic that it's "the honest ones" who are the most unpredictable, as Jack rightfully states that individuals expect dishonest men to be deceitful. Jack's livelihood on the high seas involves constantly betraying those closest to him, allowing him to develop an unfavorable reputation.
7 “This Is The Day You Will Always Remember As The Day You Almost Caught Captain Jack Sparrow.”
This is the day you will always remember as the day you almost caught Captain Jack Sparrow.
Captain Jack Sparrow is an especially resourceful pirate, as witnessed throughout his many daring escapades in Pirates of the Caribbean. Jack's reputation for being evasive has gifted him an especially famous catchphrase, which has been uttered throughout the Pirates of the Caribbean saga but was first spoken in the film that set the entire franchise off, The Curse of the Black Pearl .
Jack's tendency to proudly declare his escapes as "the day you almost caught Captain Jack Sparrow" always generates many laughs and has cemented Jack as one of Johnny Depp's most iconic roles . It's an extremely humorous depiction of Jack's cocksure personality, believing that nobody can catch him. Jack views himself as a legendary figure of the Caribbean, whom the authorities are desperate to catch because of his fame as an outlaw, even though that's not true, at least in the first film .
6 “Mate, If You Chose To Lock Your Heart Away, You’ll Lose Her For Certain.”
Mate, if you choose to lock your heart away, you'll lose her for certain.
One of Pirates of the Caribbean's main storylines centers around Will and Elizabeth's romance. Despite the two having an ongoing romantic plotline, Jack frequently gets caught in the middle of their relationship, even sharing a kiss with Elizabeth in Dead Man's Chest . In At World's End, Jack offers Will advice regarding Will's love for her when Will considers saving his Dad from Davy Jones.
While the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has been called out for losing creativity as the series went on , there are still many great moments, even in later installments, such as this moment. Jack's thoughtful comments show the value he places on Will and Elizabeth's romance in At World's End . Rescuing his Dad would also make Will the Flying Dutchman's Captain. He would only be able to return to land once every decade. Jack wishes for Will not to sacrifice his relationship, as he is confident that Will will lose Elizabeth if he takes on the curse.

Well, it bloody is now!
15 Best Heroes in The Pirates of the Caribbean, Ranked
From Will Turner to Captain Jack Sparrow, the best heroes in Pirates of the Caribbean are brave even when in treacherous waters.
Pirates of the Caribbean remains among the highest-grossing films due to its blend of hilarity and drama. One of its most entertaining aspects is Jack's relationship with alcohol or, more specifically, rum. His relationship with alcohol is humorously showcased in Curse Of The Black Pearl when Jack finds himself marooned on a remote island without his beloved rum, something he is reliant on, and Elizabeth Swann, who is more motivated than he is to leave the island.
Jack's amusing frustrations come out in this Pirates of the Caribbean line as Elizabeth burns his supply of rum to create a signal for the Royal Navy to see. Jack Sparrow struggles to operate without his rum, which has become a significant part of his life on the high seas . His irritable behavior at Elizabeth's actions demonstrates how important the drink has become to Jack in Pirates of the Caribbean .
4 "There Should Be a 'Captain' in There Somewhere."
There should be a 'Captain' in there somewhere.
The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is extensive , with On Stranger Tides taking place as the fourth installment of the series. In this film, Jack Sparrow finds himself on Blackbeard’s ship and at odds with the navy, as he usually does. However, Jack Sparrow meets King George Augustus during one particularly memorable moment.
Jack is referred to as “Jack Sparrow” as part of this exchange, resulting in his sarcastic assertion that there should be a “captain” in his name. Given his frequent absence of a crew or ship, it probably occurs somewhat often. Despite this, Jack takes pride that he has been, and will be again, the captain of a crew. His being a captain is important enough to correct even a king .
3 "I've Got A Jar Of Dirt, And Guess What's Inside It?"
I've got a jar of dirt, and guess what's inside it?
Captain Jack's wildly unpredictable antics make him a surprisingly successful pirate throughout Pirates of the Caribbean and make the franchise feel like a Dungeons and Dragons campaign . Although he appears incompetent throughout the saga, he constantly manages to deceive his enemies. This is best displayed in Dead Man's Chest, with Jack ingeniously tricking Davy Jones with a jar of dirt. Not only did this become somewhat of a meme, but it also revealed something intrinsic to his character.
This eccentric declaration shows Jack's extremely cunning nature . He plays the fool to make Davy Jones gravely underestimate him, and it works, allowing his crew to battle the Flying Dutchman's Captain while he is momentarily stunned. Pirates of the Caribbean's antagonists tend not to take Jack seriously because of his quirky nature, and Jack uses this to his advantage, bemusing them with his actions while he plots their downfall.
2 "They Done What's Right By Them."
They done what's right by them. Can't expect more than that.
From the establishment of great fantasy villains such as Davy Jones to enduring characters such as Jack Sparrow, the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has earned its place as an iconic series despite the controversial later entries. None of it would have been possible without the first film, The Curse of the Black Pearl , though. Jack Sparrow's quotes such as this established the foundation for what would grow into a legacy.
This Pirates of the Caribbean line is a more measured take than expected from the often boisterous and opinionated Captain Jack Sparrow. It sums up his thought process well and his acceptance of his situation’s reality. While he can hold a grudge, he can also recognize that everyone is doing what is in their own best interest .
1 "And That Was Without Even A Single Drop Of Rum."
And that was without even a single drop of rum.
10 Best Fighters in The Pirates of the Caribbean
The Pirates of the Carribean features a long list of capable fighters, including some of earn notoriety throughout the seas for their exploits.
According to Captain Jack Sparrow, one of the most essential parts of being a pirate is having a never-ending rum supply. Jack's over-reliance on rum is referenced in this glorious moment from the fairly dark Disney film At World's End , following his barmy decision to fire himself out of a cannon. While one would think that Jack had at least a little bit of rum in him while doing this, he actually did not.
This hilarious line from Captain Jack Sparrow speaks to the character's joyously daft essence. He is delighted that his attempt to fire himself from a cannon and land safely on the Black Pearl's deck was successful. Jack has become accustomed to fulfilling his pirate lifestyle while under the influence, which leaves him surprised when he can operate just as successfully without drinking a bottle of rum .
