Symmetry, the symmetrical superyacht that sails in both directions
Unveiled at the 2015 Monaco Yacht Show, Symmetry is a superyacht concept presented by Sinot Exclusive Design Yacht. Symmetrical, she can be sailed in both directions and has some rather innovative features.
Symmetry is a superyacht concept designed by Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design studio. As the name suggests, the 590.6-foot (180-meter) concept is symmetrical and can sail in both directions. It was unveiled at the 2015 Monaco Yacht Show and seeks to offer new models in high-end yacht design.
This revolutionary concept of a two-way maneuverable yacht has been designed from the inside, especially from the center of the ship, outwards, unlike traditional linear constructions. Her bold, upscale design offers numerous spaces around the 6 decks, each with a specific function and design. In all, 34 guests and 48 crew members can be accommodated on board.
Symmetry is based on harmony, not on formal symmetry, as the designer, Sander Sinot, explains: "Our goal was to create a synergistic balance of functionality, beauty, engineering and design. Symmetry reflects owner centered on a true philosophy of the yacht as a custom designed private domain, moving freely on the world's oceans, offering an abundance of space to accommodate loved ones to indulge, work, play and enjoy life."
A bridge for a function
In addition to its impressive length, its width of 29 m provides an impressive interior volume space of 18,000 gross tons and an exterior space of over 1,000 m2.
The beach deck with a lounge, located amidships, is equipped with a seawater pool and also houses the tenders fleet.
The Guest deck has a spectacular midship pool with a glass bottom, multiple spacious VIP rooms with lounges and balconies.
Hotel Deck houses numerous guest facilities such as a large spa, dining room, lounges, bars, garden, gym and an outdoor pool of over 17 m.
The wheelhouse has a dual steering device so that it can be operated in both directions.
The lower deck offers a home theater and a playroom for children.
Finally, the owner's deck consists of an owner's bedroom, a private spa, an office, a library , a lounge open to the sky, but also an outdoor deck with a resting area and lounge chairs.
Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design developed a 3D model of the yacht and approached BMT naval architects Nigel Gee LTD, who confirmed the technical feasibility of the project. The vessel is designed to be steered by a set of Azipods at each end, allowing it to be extremely maneuverable, while going at a speed of 20 knots. A crew of 48 members will be in 30 cabins.
Unique features
Natural interior finishes seek to replicate the style of a seaside home. Includes many of Signot Yacht Design's signature circular elements. In addition, Symmetry offers an incredible skylight that extends from the upper deck to the main deck. In this space, there are two glass walkways that connect the upper foredeck and aft deck, allowing for unobstructed views down.
While all the luxurious features of a superyacht are present, there are some features that stand out in particular. On the owner's private upper deck, a 2-centimeter-deep pool of water surrounds the entire deck, creating a sort of island. The purpose is to blur the line between the end of the deck and the view of the sea on the horizon.
This concept of dual navigation âeuros forward and aft âeuros is an idea that has already been seen on other models such as Star Concept, a 132m superyacht, by Lobanov Design. It allows the owner to enjoy the sea view from either side of his private deck.

Symmetry: The double-headed superyacht from Sinot
Superyachts
Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design has revealed its latest concept, a double-headed superyacht that was developed in partnership with BMT Nigel Gee
For many people, the bow is the most beautiful part of boat design, as the proud, knife-like prow cuts through the water – so what if your superyacht had two of them?
That’s the idea behind the latest concept from Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design, which is named Symmetry (for pretty obvious reasons).
Unveiled at last month’s Monaco Yacht Show , the 180m design was described as “the next step in high-end megayacht design”.

Despite the obvious loss off beam at the stern (wherever that is) Symmetry would still boast 1,000 m 2 of deck space and enough accommodation for 34 guests and 48 crew.

And before you go thinking this is just some pie-in-the-sky drawing, we should mention that it was developed with renowned British naval architects BMT Nigel Gee, who have confirmed the concept’s technical feasibility.
Sander Sinot, the designer of Symmetry , said: “The yacht’s layout is created by symmetrically building up from the center, instead of using the traditional linear set up.
“The symmetrical shape of the hull allows for a bi-directional course at sea, tight maneuvers and pivoting.”
No guide price was given with the design, although its 180m length would make Symmetry the world’s joint-largest megayacht, alongside the £394m Azzam .

180M Superyacht By Symmetry Design Lives Up to Its Name
A symmetrical yacht? One could be sailing the oceans within several years as Dutch studio Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design recently revealed its latest creation, the 180m superyacht Symmetry that features a bi-directional concept and design that flows from the center outwards. The balanced and symmetrical appearance allows for a unique maneuverability and safer tender operations with its beach club located amidships. And yes, it can cruise in either direction thanks to the engineering package developed by BMT Nigel Gee.
In keeping with the design concept, the actual center of the superyacht, is the area from which all design emanates, contrary to typical yacht design. Despite the emphasis on symmetry, the superyacht is not a literal interpretation of evenness. Sander Sinot, design studio head, noted that the aim was to create a synergistic balance of functionality beauty, engineering and design.. The yacht is viewed like a private estate that moves over the world’s oceans and has abundant space to indulge, work, play and enjoy life.
The dual-bow nature of Symmetry means that there is no single aft or forward interior or exterior relaxation area. Each of the six decks has its role. For example, the Beach Deck features a welcoming lounge that becomes a seawater pool when hatches to the side open. It can double as a float-in tender bay. On the Guest Deck, a glass-bottomed pool sits amidships with four VIP suites flowing outward from this area. Each VIP suite has a balcony and lounge area. Symmetry has 12 additional staterooms for guests. The owner’s deck is devoted to a huge stateroom, complemented by an office, spa, library, indoor lounge and an al fresco lounge that includes an infinity water feature. All guests can use the spa, lounges, garden, pool and other features on Symmetry’s Hotel Deck. The Lower Deck features a cinema and kids’ playroom. Several decks have large, shaft-like open space overhead that rises straight to the upper deck.
Because of the dual bows, Symmetry’s wheelhouse features dual steering. An azipod propulsion package enhances maneuverability. Cruise speed is estimated at jut over 19 knows at 85% continuing rating, with maximum speed approximately 20 knots. She will accommodate a crew of 48.
The 29m beam provides Symmetry with enormous volumes, coming in at about 18,256 gross tones. She will comply with Passenger Yacht Code Regulations.

5 Ways Sinot’s wild Symmetry concept breaks the mould
The bi-directional superyacht.
Is this yacht coming at you or sailing away from you? Are you looking at the aft or the bow? If you think you know the answer, well think again.
Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design has premiered Symmetry, a wild concept for a “bi-directional” and symmetrical 180 metre yacht.
The yacht has the same shape at its aft as it does as its bow, and it can be sailed in either direction, so you're forgiven if you're confused for a moment and not know if you’re seeing the yacht running towards you or heading away.
Sinot calls this a “revolutionary” design, and it’s certainly anything but traditional. The bi-directional cruising capability is just one way that the Symmetry superyacht concept breaks the mould.
Symmetry is built from the center out
Symmetry has a unique layout that was designed from the middle of the yacht heading out towards the bow and aft. Sinot used this method both as a means to “transform traditional yacht design” and to improve functionality and flow on board as well as enhance manoeuvrability when underway.
“The yacht’s layout is created by symmetrically building up from the centre, instead of using the traditional linear set up,” says designer Sander Sinot. “Functions on the decks are organised around the central void with an intuitive logic. The symmetrical shape of the hull allows for a bi-directional course at sea, tight manoeuvres and pivoting, ensuring comfortable tender transfers on the lee side of the lower deck’s mid-ship beach lounge.”
Symmetry is all about space
Symmetry has an LOA of 180 metres and a beam of 29 metres, providing an interior volume of more than 18,000GT and exterior living space of more than 1,000 square metres. The Symmetry superyacht concept is designed to accommodate 34 guests and 48 crew, with each deck designated for a particular function.
The mid-ship beach deck, pictured above, has a float-in tender garage and seawater pool while the guest deck has a glass bottom pool and VIP staterooms with balconies. The hotel deck boasts amenities such as the spa, dining area, bar and lounges, a garden space and another 17 metre pool. The wheelhouse has dual helms to accommodate the bi-directional running, and the lower deck is where you would find the cinema and kids’ playroom.
Symmetry is designed around the owner
While her name and looks might imply literal symmetry, Sander Sinot says the aim was more to create harmony on board than formal symmetry and design a yacht around the owner. There is an entire deck dedicated to the owner, with a stateroom, private spa, library, skylounge and exterior lounge with infinity water feature, as pictured above.
“Symmetry reflects a genuine owner centered philosophy of the yacht as a custom-designed private estate, moving freely over the world’s oceans, offering an abundance of space to welcome beloved ones to indulge, work, play and enjoy life.”
Is Symmetry technically feasible?
Is this a wild yacht design that is likely to be built , or just a wild concept? If you’re wondering how technically feasibly Symmetry is, her designers say very. They developed a 3D model of the yacht, which they shared with naval architects BMT Nigel Gee who, “confirmed technical feasibility,” according to Sinot.
BMT Nigel Gee provided in-depth input, which Sander Sinot and his team are using to further develop this unique and symmetrical superyacht.

Sail trim fundamentals: a guide for beginner sailors
Trimming sails is an essential skill for yacht sailing, enabling you to harness the wind's power and optimize your yacht's performance. Whether you're a novice or an experienced sailor, it's crucial to grasp the fundamentals of sail trim. Check out our guide to the key principles and techniques of sail trimming, equipping you with the knowledge to enhance your sailing skills .
Glossary of basic terms
Before we dive into how sails propel a boat, the different types of sails, and how to trim them for different courses, let's take a look at the basic terminology. Even if you're new to sailing, knowing the names of the different parts of the boat is essential as it helps you communicate with the crew, react quickly when needed and, of course, it is the sign of a competent sailor
Jib and genoa — the most important sail on a yacht. They are usually triangular in shape, with a curved edge at the bottom (called the luff) and are located at the front of the boat, seen from the bow. The jib or genoa can be rolled up while sailing using a furler, which is a device that allows it to be neatly stored along the forestay. The forestay is a steel cable that runs from the bow of the boat to the top of the mast.
Mainsail — a triangular-shaped sail that is commonly attached to the mast and boom of a yacht. It slides into a groove on the mast or drops into a lazy jack system for easy handling. On seagoing boats, the mainsail is not the primary source of propulsion, but it plays a crucial role in balancing the boat's direction along with foresails (jib/genoa) and the rudder.
Elements of the mainsail:
Forestay (luff) — the edge of the sail that slides into the groove of the mast
Lower luff — the sail hem that slides into the jib groove
Back hem (luff) — the free, third edge of the sail triangle
Spigot — a piece of fibre glued at one end to the sail surface to indicate the correct sail setting
Cunningham — a mechanism that adjusts the tension of the forestay
Reef — a system of controls and adjustments that allows the sail area to be reduced in high winds
Vang/Kicker — a pulley system between the boom and the mast that controls sail tension and boom height
Spinnaker and gennaker — types of sails commonly referred to as "balloons" by sailors due to their distinctive shape. These sails are designed for sailing in crosswinds to tailwinds. The spinnaker or gennaker is hoisted at the top of the mast, and the lower corners of the sail are controlled by lines called sheets.
Roller furling system — a furling device that makes it easy and quick to furl a jib or genoa along the forestay.

What drives a boat: a little theory
The sail on a boat is the key element that harnesses the wind's energy to propel the vessel. Made from durable materials like dacron or kevlar, sails are both delicate and strong. The basic principle is straightforward — when the wind blows against the sail, it creates a force that pushes the boat forward. The curved shape of the sail generates buoyancy, and the difference in airflow speed on each side of the sail creates a pressure imbalance, resulting in a forward-driving force. In essence, the sail acts as the engine of the boat, utilizing the power of the wind to move it through the water.
The sails are designed to be adjustable and adaptable to different wind directions and forces . Sail trimming involves making adjustments to sail tension, sail angle to the wind, and sail deflection, which play a crucial role in maximizing sail performance and optimizing the direction you sail.
Another important element in sail performance is the distribution of forces . The mainsail is securely attached to the boat using the mast, boom, ropes, and eyelets. Additional sails are connected to the hull through ropes or halyards, which are metal ropes connecting the hull to the mast. These elements effectively distribute the force generated by the wind to various points on the boat, including the mast, deck, and hull. This distribution minimizes excessive strain on different parts of the boat, ensuring stable and safe movement.
The sail also responds to changes in wind strength and the boat's heel. If the wind strength alters, the sail can be adjusted by tightening or loosening it accordingly. Similarly, if the boat's pitch changes, the sail can be balanced or adjusted to maintain stability and equilibrium .
Sails are available in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, each designed for different types of sailing and varying conditions. Mainsails, gennakers, spinnakers, jibs, and other types of sails offer specific characteristics and are suitable for specific uses. In essence, a sail on a boat functions like a wing, utilizing the power of the wind to propel the vessel forward. Proper sail trim is essential for ensuring efficient and safe boating, taking into account not only the wind's strength but also the course being sailed.
Understanding the distinction between apparent and true wind is very important for sail trim. This is a fundamental concept in the world of sailing and relates to how we perceive the wind's force in relation to the vessel's movement. Apparent wind varies based on the vessel's motion, whereas true wind represents the actual wind force independent of the vessel's movement.
True wind refers to the wind force we experience when stationary on land, unaffected by the vessel's motion. For instance, if you're standing on the shore and feel a southward wind blowing at 10 knots, that is the true wind.
On the other hand, apparent wind is the wind force perceived on a moving vessel. The motion of the yacht relative to the real wind creates the apparent wind, which combines the actual wind with the boat's movement. Consequently, the apparent wind's direction and speed differ from the true wind.
When a sailboat sails into the wind, the apparent wind comes from the opposite direction of the real wind. It is a combination of the actual wind and the sailboat's motion. Conversely, when sailing downwind, the apparent wind aligns with the real wind's direction, although its speed may vary depending on the sailboat's velocity.
Apparent wind is an important factor in sail trim and navigation. Sailors must take apparent wind into account when adjusting sails and determining the optimal direction and angle for sailing. Understanding the distinction between apparent and real wind is essential for precise sail trim and effective navigation at sea. For more detailed insights, we recommend reading our article on apparent wind vs. true wind .

How to trim sails.
The process of trimming sails can vary depending on the boat, but there are general rules that apply to most sail setups. Here are a few basic steps to get started:
Proper sail tension
The first step is to ensure that the sails are properly tensioned. Finding the right balance between too much slack and too much tension is crucial for achieving the optimal sail shape. Many modern sails have adjustable ropes that allow you to regulate the tension. Regularly check and adjust the tension as you sail, as it can change with wind strength and direction.
Angle of the sails to the wind
Another important aspect of sail trimming is setting the correct angle of the sails in relation to the wind. The ideal angle depends on the wind direction and the point of sailing. Generally, for upwind sailing, the angle should be smaller (around 45 degrees), while for downwind sailing, a larger angle (around 90 degrees) is preferred. Experiment with different angles when sailing in varying wind directions and adjust as necessary.
Sail deflection
Sails should have some deflection to help them maintain shape and generate lift. The appropriate amount of deflection depends on the type of sail and the sailing conditions. Aim for sufficient deflection to achieve optimal buoyancy, but avoid excessive deflection that may disrupt airflow and lead to inefficient sailing. Many modern sails feature adjustable features for controlling deflection.
Sail symmetry
It is important to ensure that the sails are properly balanced and symmetrical. Incorrectly adjusted sails can result in unwanted changes in sailing direction. Regularly check that the sails are set symmetrically and that the gap between them allows for optimum airflow.
Constant observation and adjustments
Sail trimming is a dynamic process that requires constant observation of wind changes and yacht performance. Stay attentive and be ready to adjust the sail trim as needed. Even small adjustments can significantly impact the yacht's performance. Regular practice and sailing in different conditions will help you develop your sail trimming skills and gain experience.
It is important to remember that sail trimming is a skill that you improve with practice and experience. Don't be afraid to experiment and try different sail settings. Regular practice and sailing in different conditions will help you develop your sail trimming skills on your yacht.
Sail trimming is an art that has a big impact on your performance on the water. With a solid foundation and practice, you can become a skilled sailor who can harness the power of the wind and fully enjoy the beauty of sailing a yacht.

I Loved Tudor’s Sailing Watch Even More While Aboard an Actual Racing Yacht
Want more insider watch coverage? Get Box + Papers, GQ's newsletter devoted to the watch world, sent to your inbox every Friday. Sign up here.
The weather report in Barcelona wasn’t looking particularly promising last month as I boarded a vessel on the Mediterranean. Leaving the Spanish coast behind me, storm clouds gathered overhead as the Swiss and French teams geared up to face off in the 37th edition of the America’s Cup. Then again, I was reminded, a bit of wind was a welcome sensation—without it, this regatta couldn’t get underway.
If you’ve never been buzzed by an AC75, the class of racing yacht used during the current America’s Cup , it can be difficult to imagine the sensation. I no longer had to imagine as the Alinghi Red Bull team’s AC75 reached its top speed of 50 knots (58 mph) and seemed to be nearly levitating as it lifted out of the water. And if it’s flying in anything resembling your general direction, this can be quite unnerving.
Even if you’re not a sailor, you’re likely familiar with America’s Cup anyway because of how frequently it intersects with the watch world. Tudor , Omega , and Panerai have all gotten in on the action, the logos of their storied brands featured prominently on mainsheets attached to each vessel’s 26.5-meter mast. For each edition of the Cup in which one of these maisons is sponsoring a team, said company will often debut a special watch, sometimes with a dedicated sailing complication such as a regatta timer. Two of the most compelling of these watches were introduced just last year: Tudor’s Pelagos FXD and FXD Chrono Alinghi Red Bull Racing Edition . As I discovered earlier this month, they become even more compelling aboard the actual yacht they’re inspired by.
The racing yacht wasn't the only thing that made me feel like a member of team Alinghi that day. I also got a chance to wear the FXD from Tudor's Pelagos line. The Pelagos collection comprises the brand's most professional diving watch, complete with heavy-duty specs, some military influence, and perhaps a bit more character than the brand’s flagship Black Bay collection. Introduced in 2012, the Pelagos line has seen continuous improvement, culminating in the recent “ FXD .” (The “FXD” is for “fixed,” a design with military provenance that secures a strap to the wrist without possibility of spring bar failure.) The black-dialed FXD immediately stole my heart upon its release late in 2023, when I dove with it in Florida.
I wasn’t the only one wearing this purpose-made FXD. The entire Alinghi Red Bull racing team—from team owner to engineer—was kitted out with them. For me, it’s a cool watch; for the sailing team, it’s essential gear. Timing is everything out on the open water. “We use a watch [the Pelagos FXD] that’s in complete sync with what we do here,” says Jaume Triay, a young engineer on the Alinghi Red Bull team who’s spent the past two years living in Barcelona to prepare for the competition. “It’s a low-weight, high-performance watch, and it’s made out of the same materials [as the AC75]; I think there’s a nice synergy.”
Everything about the Alinghi FXD is made with yacht racing in mind. The watch is made from carbon fiber to mirror the carbon-hulled AC75 yachts, with matte blue-purple dials to match the Alinghi Red Bull livery. The numbers on the bezel are arranged in the reverse orientation from those on a dive watch. Why? On a yacht, one needs to quickly calculate countdowns, which is why the numbers go from 60-0 in a counterclockwise direction, rather than the more common 0-60. I had never spent much time with either of the new FXD watches before, but had the opportunity to wear the time-only version during my time in Barcelona for the 37th edition of the America’s Cup. I’m officially a fan.
The dial is a classic Tudor affair: Done up in matte Alinghi Red Bull blue, it features a snowflake handset and matching white indices, all of which are nicely lumed with plenty of Super-LumiNova. (The indices, hands, and all bezel hashmarks glow ice blue in low light.) A red second hand matches up with red “Pelagos” text—no doubt in a reference to vintage Rolex models and in keeping with other Pelagos watches—and the rehaut, which contains the outer minute track, features the words “ALINGHI RED BULL RACING” in the upper quadrant.
“Timing is important in many aspects [of what the team does],” Triay says. “It’s important in planning, such as how much time we need to train before competing, and how much time we have to design the boat. But then also, you can think about maneuvers: Are we going to do a slow, nicely controlled maneuver, or a sharp turn executed as quickly as possible? What is best, and how do you find replicable timing in order to analyze different strategies?”
Indeed, timing was everything as we sailed out into the open ocean outside Barcelona aboard the yacht in order to watch Alinghi compete against the French team. The Swiss needed to win this particular race, lest it be forced to win three in a row in the double-round robin of the Louis Vuitton Challenger Section Series—or face elimination. I was eager to try aligning my bezel to properly time the race countdown as announced aboard the ship’s television, where the race was being broadcast live.
Stepping out onto the deck in the rain (we picked a poor day for sailing) Alinghi’s AC75 was visible in the distance, tacking hard in the driving wind and water. Its complement of ultra-skilled sailors, however, proved their competence and seamanship, crossing the starting line just as the countdown ended and gaining a significant start on the French team. Roughly 20 minutes of hard sailing later, up and down a course established by remote-controlled buoys to align with the direction of the wind, the Swiss team captured its much-needed victory.
After the win, high-fives were swapped, congratulations were offered, audible sighs of relief were exhaled. As we sailed back into harbor, we passed the AC75 furling its sails, yelling our collective “mazel tov” at the team and chase boat crews. I glanced down at the FXD and thought back to my childhood summer camp experience and the activity I most enjoyed: Sailing small Sunfish dinghies on Plunkett Reservoir. Finally, after months of waiting for Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 news, we have it, and it’s good.
Bravo released the highly anticipated trailer for the sailing show, along with a premiere date.
The last season fractured the friendships of Daisy Kelliher , Gary King, and Colin MacRae, who all helped make Below Deck Sailing Yacht a mega-hit show.
Colin isn’t back for another season, but Gary and Daisy are, with the past season impacting their working environment.
Aside from the Gary and Daisy drama, we see Captain Glenn Shephard, like never before, losing his s**t on the crew more than once for very good reasons.
The Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 trailer
Daisy is the focal point of the trailer, as it seems the powers that be are making her the star in the aftermath of the sexual misconduct scandal allegations against Gary.
The chief stew finds herself hooking up with a deckhand that could be more than just a boatmance.
It seems that the new chef is going to be a major problem on Season 5. Daisy and the chef butt heads when she refuses to serve his food because, well, it looks like crap.
The party vibe of Ibiza brings many challenges for Captain Glenn and his crew. Not only with unruly guests but also the crew crossing the line by partying with guests.
Captain Glenn sets ground rules for the crew, which are ignored, leading to him unleashing his fury on them. The captain even wakes up the crew at one point after a disastrous crew night out.
Other teasers include another near-boat crash for Parsifal III that makes it seem like Gary may be the one who saves the day. Speaking of Gary, he’s in the trailer, but there’s definitely less of him, and not a single Gary hook-up is featured.
What is featured is a fire, a bloody nose, plenty of drunk falls, and Captain Glenn firing someone. The way it’s set up, too, the teaser definitely wants us to think Captain Glenn fires Daisy or Gary.

No one wants this drunk on TV! @BravoTV let him continuously get drunk and sexually harass women! He even tried to get one of the girls on Project Runway drunk so he could take advantage of her! He’s a predator & he does not belong on TV reaping all the benefits with free booze! So Bravo has put in place safeguards to protect others from sexual harassment, abuse, etc. but is going to let that drunk predator Gary King stay on? NO!!! He’s gotten away with this for a few years and he needs to be stopped!!! Do Better Bravo!!! I won’t be watching! He’s whining & crying on social media.

The Below Deck universe is one of the popular franchises on Bravo. Fans have been clamoring for the trailer for Below Deck Sailing Yacht following the major breakdown of Daisy Kelliher and Gary King ‘s short-lived romance last season. Now, it’s finally here, and the trailer teases everything viewers want — drama, romance, and breaking the rules with the guests.
As fans of Below Deck Sailing Yacht know, each season of the show takes place in a different location. Now in its fifth season, the show is set in Ibiza. Season four of the show was set in Italy. This new season comes after Gary was accused of sexual assault.
The new season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht seems like a good time based on the trailer, which comes exclusively from E! News . As it begins, Daisy can be heard saying, “Going into this season, I got rid of some dead weight. The breakup did a number on me last year. I felt very broken. But now, I’m coming back in more focused, full of energy and I’m f–king good at my job. And I’m taking back the reigns.”
Of course, she is referencing her breakup with Gary. She then counters the previous statement by saying, “It’s gonna be a s–t show.”
The trailer then teases a bit of work-related drama as she says to Gary, “Guess what? We have a f–king job to do, and I’m not f–king carrying this season on my own, you f–king prick!”
Naturally, the season isn’t only about the failed romance between Daisy and Gary. The trailer also shows the crew getting a bit too friendly with the guests. Captain Glenn Shephard , who is clearly upset, can be seen reprimanding the crew after having too many drinks with the guests.
He says, “You guys went out with some guests, I set some ground rules. Two drinks maximum. You knew the rules, you broke the f–king rules, and now you’re here getting upset.”
This season also welcomes some new faces. There’s Chef Cloyce Martin , Chief Engineer Davide Morosi , Stew Diana Cruz , Stew Danni Warren , and Emma Crouch as the deckhand.
Fans can watch the premiere of season five of Below Deck Sailing Yacht on October 7.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5’s trailer has finally arrived, and with Captain Glenn Shephard’s crew including First Officer Gary King, fans are disappointed in the show’s return . While Below Deck viewers have been impatiently awaiting news about Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 for over a year, the trailer has finally been released, and has many concerned about what the season is going to look like. While the trailer reveals the return of some familiar faces, the storylines that appear to be part of the season left viewers feeling uneasy. After Gary’s sexual misconduct allegations, his involvement seems overwhelming.
In the Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 trailer, the crew’s chartering guests around Ibiza in a new sailing adventure. With Gary showing up early in the trailer after Daisy Kelliher makes her grand entrance, things get dicey quickly. “That’s right, we have a f****** job and I’m not carrying this f****** season on my own you f****** prick,” Daisy shouts at Gary in one moment of the trailer as he lays in his bed, looking dismayed. The rest of the trailer shows the genuine chaos of the season, featuring Gary heavily much to the surprise of Below Deck viewers .
What Gary’s Involvement In Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 Means
He’s part of the show more than ever.
Throughout the Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 trailer, it was clear that Gary will be a focal point of the exterior team’s story. Being shown on the deck with some of the exterior team, pushing Deckhands to their limits and critiquing their work, Gary’s presence on the sailing yacht may be odd during Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 . While he appears to be getting along with Daisy , he may not even have her in his corner by the end of the charter season. His heavy involvement in the trailer may not indicate the same throughout the whole season.
20 Best Reality TV Shows Right Now
Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.
Although Gary has been a part of Below Deck Sailing Yacht since the early days of the series, seeing him as a member of the crew after his sexual misconduct allegations came to light is tough. While Bravo filmed Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 before the allegations were revealed, they came to light during the filming of the season and it appears that the network didn’t choose to remove Gary from later episodes or take action at all. Though it remains to be seen if production did anything about Gary , it’s disappointing to some to see him on screen.
Our Take On The Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 Trailer
It could be chaotic fun, but gary leaves a stain on the show.
Although the trailer for Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 makes it seem like one of the most exciting, dramatic seasons of the series we’ve ever seen, the mess may not be worth it if Gary’s involved. By ignoring the sexual misconduct allegations lodged against Gary and leaving him on the series, seemingly without explanation, Bravo is allowing it to seem like what he may have done is okay. Though nothing has been proven, taking no action on Below Deck Sailing Yacht could be a misstep that may taint the entire season of the sailing spin-off for once excited viewers.
Below Deck Sailing Yacht premieres Monday, October 7 at 9 p.m. EDT on Bravo.

Sailing yachts like Mike Lynch's are 'unsinkable bodies', CEO of boat manufacturing firm says
Bayesian superyacht which sank off Italy is an "unsinkable" vessel, Giovanni Costantino, CEO of The Italian Sea Group, said.

Vessels like Mike Lynch's stricken superyacht are "unsinkable", according to the chief executive of the firm which makes and sells them.
Giovanni Costantino, CEO of The Italian Sea Group, told Sky News there are no flaws with the design and construction of the Bayesian superyacht which capsized in a storm off the coast of Porticello, Sicily, on Monday.
Five bodies were found by divers on Wednesday - taking the number of confirmed dead to six.
The Italian Sea Group also owns the firm that built British tech tycoon Mr Lynch's Bayesian, and Mr Costantino said the vessels "are the safest in the most absolute sense".
"Being the manufacturer of Perini [boats], I know very well how the boats have always been designed and built," he said.
"And as Perini is a sailing ship... sailing ships are renowned to be the safest ever."
He said their structure and keel made them "unsinkable bodies".

Mr Costantino said news of the sinking "put me in a state of sadness on one side and of disbelief on the other".
"This incident sounds like an unbelievable story, both technically and as a fact," he said.
It is understood Italian prosecutors investigating the incident are continuing to hold interviews with the survivors.
On Tuesday they questioned the captain for more than two hours to help reconstruct what happened and provide useful technical details.
Four British inspectors are also in Porticello and have begun a preliminary assessment of events.
It is understood they will look at all relevant aspects of the incident, including the design, stability, and operation of the vessel. They will also examine the effects of the weather conditions experienced.

Twenty-two people were on board the vessel, 15 of whom were rescued - including Briton Charlotte Golunski and her one-year-old daughter Sofia.
Divers will resume efforts on Thursday morning to bring ashore a body they found earlier. One more person remains missing.
