85m SilverYachts motor yacht Bold joins the market
Related articles, superyacht directory.
The 85.3 metre SilverYachts motor yacht Bold has joined the market for the first time since its launch. Offered for sale privately, the all-aluminium explorer sports a striking military-inspired exterior by Espen Øino and was delivered by Australian yard SilverYachts in 2019.
Technically classed as a “sports activity vessel”, Bold is packed with features that make her well-deserving of her explorer status. A 400-square-metre open aft deck plays host to a helipad and AW109S Grand helicopter with bulwarks that unfold to provide clearance for landings and create terraces over the water, alongside a 12-tonne crane used to deploy the yacht's trio of tenders.
Exterior amenities include a bar and teppanyaki grill, while a cinema and an eight-person Jacuzzi is found on her sundeck. Bold's interior layout is unconventional; she was designed to feel more like a New York City loft apartment than a superyacht. "We don’t need to impress with golden staircases,” the owner said in an interview with BOAT International.
A glass-enclosed loft deck occupies over 300 square metres of open-plan space with ceilings up to 2.75 metres in height in some places. At its heart lies a large main saloon with four brightly coloured sofas that frame the perimeter of a custom geometric carpet laid over parquet flooring made of 2.5-millimetre-thick oak on honeycomb. Aft and adjacent is a winter garden, which too can be enclosed by glass and enjoyed all year round, or alternatively left open to the elements to allow a sea breeze to flow through in warmer climates.
Down below, Bold can sleep up to 16 guests in eight staterooms comprising a master suite, three VIP suites and four double cabins, with further accommodation for a crew of 22.
Powered by twin MTU diesel engines, Bold has a top speed of 23 knots with a range of 7,000 nautical miles.
Bold is listed for sale with price on application at [email protected] .

Described by the shipyard as ‘a fast world explorer vessel with a genuine, fully-fledged superyacht finish’, Bold has a top speed of 23 knots and a low draft of 2.8 metres allowing access to shallow cruising grounds – a combination unparalleled in yachts of her size.
True to her go-anywhere expedition capabilities, in November 2020 Bold embarked on an ambitious two-year adventure to explore the remote corners of the earth and charter clients can book to join the yacht in any of the destinations en route.
The Captain
Australian Captain Todd Leech is a dynamic influence, having captained the owner’s previous 77 metre yacht Silver Fast. With a decade of maritime experience under his belt, which takes in a stint on board Areti, Todd is always ready with solutions and willing to help.
A certified diving instructor, he enjoys entertaining guests and together with First Officer Nick Dolphin – who works on rotation as captain in his absence – Todd is happy to guide guests on breathtaking shark dives in the Indian Ocean.
The Experience
Bold’s inimitable style will make you feel at home the moment you step on board.
Her contemporary interior is furnished with teak and oak panelling, oak and marble flooring, metallic painted features and accents of bright hues. She sleeps 16 guests across eight generous cabins: a master suite – with a private hammam and salon – three VIP cabins and four guest cabins.
The pièce de resistance, central to Bold’s design, is a 300 square metre loft salon housing floor to ceiling windows offering spectacular ocean views. Whatever the weather, a clever glass panel system allows guests to dine al fresco or enclosed without losing connection to the exterior.
Further highlights include a sun deck jacuzzi surrounded with glass for wind protection and privacy, a teppanyaki/barbecue zone, an outdoor cinema with a 6 x 3 metre media wall, and a 5 x 2 metre LED screen in the heli-hanger/gym and yoga room which doubles as a party space with surround sound and disco lights.
A vast 34 metre aft main deck houses a heli-pad and gives access to a dazzling array of tenders and water toys, while an excellent crew of 20 are on hand to organise beach barbecues, scuba diving, shark diving, whale shark snorkelling, game fishing, Beach Olympics and sailing
Chef and Cuisine
When it comes to gastronomic perfection, Chef Daniel Isberg knows exactly how to please. The Swedish-born chef has cooked for Sean Connery, Bill Gates, Alicia Keys and Bruce Springsteen and the clean, market fresh cooking practises of the US West Coast remain an enduring influence on his culinary style.
Daniel’s career has spanned the globe, notably Thailand to France and Venezuela and his talent for incorporating the finest local ingredients continues to impress Bold’s discerning clientele.
A typical day starts with an a la carte breakfast, with brunch served on the final day of cruising. Lunch is family style and canapés are served with sunset cocktails followed by a four-course dinner service.
Popular lunch dishes include seafood platters, Hamachi ceviche, beef tenderloin quesadillas, and salt and pepper calamari, while favourite dinner menus include lobster and vanilla cappuccino soup with tiger prawn tempura, watermelon carpaccio with feta, pine nuts and balsamic reduction, slow roasted pork belly with pinot noir sauce and red onion marmalade and pan seared scallops with Champagne risotto and saffron sauce.

Watch: Silver Yachts Relaunch 85.3m Superyacht BOLD
By George Bains
85.3m explorer superyacht BOLD, launched by Australian shipyard Silver Yachts in 2019 to international acclaim, returned home for maintenance works earlier this year. The Espen Øino-designed superyacht was relaunched in June 2021, and Silver Yachts has shared a video of her return to the water.
Returning to the Perth-based shipyard was a natural choice for Bold , with the superyacht touring South East Asia and the South Pacific before making her way back to Australia. The Captain and Owner entrusted Bold’s maintenance period to the hard-working teams at Silver Yachts , who originally brought this innovative superyacht to the waters in 2019.
"After sailing over 52.000 nautical miles since launch in 2019, M/Y Bold stopped off back home at Silver Yachts in Western Australia," says Sander Toonen, Chief Operating Officer of Silver Yachts. "In the two months she spent at the yard she was hauled out for 5 weeks for maintenance and service works. After seatrials, she headed straight from Perth to the Mediterranean, ready to charter another season."
In a recent interview with Superyachts.com , former Silver Yachts naval architect Nick Stark spoke of the Australian shipyard’s specialisation in aluminium builds and its history of cutting-edge projects, of which Bold has been the flagship.
The 85.3m and 1504 GT superyacht offers a jaw-dropping variety of indulgent social spaces for her guests. Perhaps one of the most unique features is the superyacht’s Wintergarden, with a table for 18 guests. The Wintergarden is surrounded by a glass panel system which can be fully opened to offer al fresco dining. The Wintergarden is accessed via an expansive Loft Saloon, which boasts floor-to-ceiling windows and the combined area spans 300-square-metres.
Her large exterior deck space includes a bar and teppanyaki with ample seating, while a 400m2 of multipurpose teak main deck carries an enticing arsenal of water toys and tenders.
Currently in construction at Silver Yachts is hull 6, Silver Loft II, based on the successful platform of BOLD. We look forward to following the progress of yet another outstanding superyacht to be built by the Western Australian shipyard.
"After sailing over 52.000 nautical miles since launch in 2019, M/Y Bold stopped off back home at Silver Yachts in Western Australia." Sander Toonen, Chief Operating Officer of Silver Yachts

Demonstrating the true scope of her go-anywhere expedition capabilities, the 85m (280’) explorer yacht BOLD is embarking on an ambitious adventure across the oceans: and she’s giving you the chance to get involved.
Forget standard itineraries and traditional destinations; with a yacht like BOLD , adventure is the name of the game.
Over the next few months, this one-of-a-kind explorer yacht will be going off the beaten path to explore some of the most far-flung corners of the planet. These are the destinations and experiences that charterers rarely get to discover.
From the fjords of Norway to the incredible culture found in Papua New Guinea, the itinerary has been carefully curated to satisfy even the most curious charterers and leave you with memories to last a lifetime.
You can now book BOLD in any of the destinations outlined below, with some scope for flexibility.
November 2020
Spanning 3,000km of coastline, Oman 's electric blue seas and pristine reefs remain one of the best-kept secrets in the world. The unique topography of the region lends itself perfectly to chartering a yacht, with plenty of secret coves, tiny inlets and desert-like swathes of beaches nestled between towering mountains which can only be accessed by sea.
There are no dull days while chartering here; mornings can be spent snorkelling in the sun-warmed Arabian Sea, followed by a hike through the rocky foothills that border the water. Evenings are best enjoyed at anchor, stargazing beneath a clear sky; but be sure to dedicate some time to exploring the architecture of the marble cities and towns that are dotted up and down the coast.
Why BOLD is best:
The incredibly unique terrain of this region is best seen from above; and luckily BOLD's Leonardo AW109 is on hand to provide a birds-eye perspective.
The Maldives
December 2020.
The mystical Maldives is the perfect destination for scuba pros and those looking to get up close and personal with marine life. Thousands of islands and atolls are scattered across the ocean, with sugar-soft sandbanks and castaway tropical islands rising up from the miles of blue. The Maldives supports a flourishing ecosystem of everything from kaleidoscopic coral through to the world’s largest fish; the whale shark. BOLD's tenders are on hand to act as a dive chase boat if you're interested in swimming alongside these gentle giants, and the motor yacht will be able to access all the of the region's finest dive sites with ease.
In between atoll-hopping through the Indian Ocean , there are a selection of luxury resorts and private islands for anyone looking to spend a day on shore. Underwater spas and overwater bars beckon; but for those who'd prefer to stay off the beaten path, there are also countless hidden beaches and islets at the reserve of those visiting by yacht. Have your crew whip up your favorite drink, and you'll quickly find that an isolated sandbar beats any on-land bar.
Complete on-board snorkelling and dive equipment will allow you to explore this underwater oasis to the fullest, with the help of the highly-trained crew.

Thailand, Singapore and the Andaman Islands
January 2021.
Rich in culture and heritage, South East Asia promises an intoxicating blend of natural beauty and buzzy city life. Thailand 's iconic islands create ample itineraries throughout Phang Nga Bay, a large area of which is a nature reserve. It's easy to understand why, when you cruise through the emerald bays admiring the swirls of sandbars and iconic limestone karsts shooting up from the shallow water. In Singapore , these Jurassic jungles give way to the bustle and bright lights of city life, and this futuristic hub is home to numerous bars, restaurants and cultural attractions.
The Andaman Islands are an intriguing contrast to the more traditionally popular islands in the Phang Nga Bay, which have escaped the brunt of mainstream tourism and remain largely untouched. You're not likely to come across many other yachts here; you're more likely to share these waters with humpback and blue whales.
While cruising across South East Asia promises incredible opportunities for snorkelling, kayaking and beach picnics, there’s also a lot to see on shore, from temples and monuments to natural attractions and hidden wonders.
BOLD's resident Italian chef is a master at all types of cuisine, and a teppanyaki and barbecue grill will allow you to experience Asian fusion in the best of settings.
February 2021
BOLD will be going down under back to her roots in February- she's the largest Australian-built yacht in the world, but this will be her first time chartering in her homeland. She will be available across Australia, chartering everywhere from Shark Bay and Ningaloo Reef to the Great Barrier Reef and the Whitsundays.
Cruising these expansive coastlines requires serious muscle, and luckily BOLD is equipped with just that. Wherever you go, you'll be transported in supreme comfort and luxury. Charterers eager to explore the gems of Australia will be able to discover all that this wild country has to offer with the flexibility, comfort and six-star luxury of a superyacht. Spend your days discovering footprint-free beaches in the Whitsundays or spotting dingoes and rare birds at Great Sandy National Park.
Relive your best memories from your trip on the big screen; BOLD has a large outdoor cinema on the sundeck, plus a 6x3m media wall in the loft and a 5x2m LED screen in the helihanger/gym and yoga room.
The South Pacific Islands
Summer 2021.
There are few charter destinations as revered as the shores of the South Pacific. Papua New Guinea and the surrounding 25,000 islands offer an experience unlike anywhere else on the planet, with culture and heritage that’s been incredibly well-preserved over the years.
The tribal customs of this Papua New Guinea are well-known across the globe, and you’ll have the chance to observe the local people and their culture in all of its glory here. Most of the communities are friendly and welcoming of those who have stepped on shore to learn and appreciate their way of life. Arrange to trek through the banana plantations or rent a small wooden boat to row through the shallow waters between islets, and be sure to dive and discover the metropolis of marine life that exists below the surface.
Laser sailing dinghies mean you have more freedom and flexibility to explore the small inlets and mangrove forests.
Antarctica, Chile and Argentina
Winter 2021 (solar eclipse).
BOLD is now giving you the chance to watch the Solar Eclipse around the Antarctic Peninsula. This is a truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, as it won't be observed here for another 400 years. Set to take place in the early hours of December 4 2021, BOLD will be able to find the perfect position to see it happening, and you can take in this other-worldly experience from the on-deck jacuzzi or the elegant Wintergarden.
Chartering around Antarctica , you'll be able to get the most from your time in this awe-inspiring and incredibly unique part of the globe. Icebergs rise up from a blindingly blue sea, and landscapes coated in snow form the backdrop to every morning cup of coffee or evening aperitif you'll enjoy while chartering here. Kayak through the icy water and see the intricate ice formations below the sea's surface, and get up close to penguins and whales in their natural habitat.
In Chile and Argentina, you can expect mild temperatures and glorious scenery as the seasons shift from spring to summer. Glacial shelves, like the famous Perito Moreno Glacier, can be seen here, alongside snow-capped mountains and bright blue lakes in all of their glory.
Designed with expedition in mind, BOLD has an autonomous range of 5,500 nautical miles and a certified helideck with flush lighting for night operations.
Mexico, the Caribbean and the Bahamas
Spring 2022.
Whether you choose to charter in Mexico and or you’d rather press pause on life and bask in the Bahamian sun, BOLD can cater to you. From the glitz and glamour of St Barts to the tranquil beauty of the USVI's, the Caribbean encompasses so many islands; your biggest problem will be choosing where to start.
Mexico is a great spot for something a little different from the mainstream Caribbean, with the same palm-tree lined coasts and blue seas, with an extra dose of ancient history and culture. Step on shore to see the remains of ancient Mayan civilizations and go below the surface of the sea to explore the kaleidoscope of color that exists here.
For thrill-seekers, the charms of the Bahamas offer countless spots for watersports, as well as the chance to swim in shark hotspots and see these predators up close. The myriad of yacht charter attractions in the Bahamas never go out of style, and there are so many things to see and do- you'll find something new to fall in love with every time.
Her floating islands means she can accommodate an incredible water toy selection, and her shallow draft means she can get up close to the islands in this region.
Scandinavia
Early summer is the ideal time to visit the likes of Norway and Iceland. During this time, the summer will be starting to creep its way into Scandinavia, bringing with it rolling fields of wildflowers and clear blue seas.
In southern Norway, whale watching season is in the winter; but in the summer months, you can expect to see some of these gentle giants cruising around the Vesterålen coast and the Lofoten archipelago in northern Norway. Up here, you can expect breathtaking landscapes, with mountains shooting up from the ocean and plenty of postcard-picture fishing villages.
The yacht's Wintergarden is the perfect spot to soak up the sights of the outdoors from the comfort of the interior.
Mediterranean
August 2022.

For superyacht shoppers, the Palm Beach International Boat Show, kicking off its four-day run this week, is set to break records with more than 60 yachts over 100 feet long on display. Last year was also a banner year for superyachts at the show.
Headliners will include the likes of the 295-foot Corsair Nero , the 278-foot Victorious by AKYacht, the 230-foot Turquoise-built Talisman C , and 213-foot Benetti Triumph among brokerage yachts, and in new yachts, the 113-foot Ocean Alexander Puro 35 is making its world debut.
There are so many gleaming white vessels over 100 feet, in fact, that the fleet will be split between the Palm Harbor Marina at the main show site on the downtown West Palm Beach waterfront and the Safe Harbor Rybovich Marina two miles north.
Now in its 42nd year, PBIBS will also showcase hundreds of models of dayboats, cruisers, and fishing boats, as well as marine accessories. Running from this Thursday through Sunday, the show coincides with the Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary art show, a fortuitous opportunity for yacht owners wanting to add new art to their collections.
Here are 10 must-see boats at this year’s show.
Corsair Yachts ‘Nero’
The undisputed star of this year’s Palm Beach show? That would be the 295-foot, classically styled superyacht Nero , built in 2007 and inspired by American financier J.P. Morgan’s legendary 1930s steamer Corsair IV . Nero ‘s attendance at PBIBS marks its return to the charter market after an extensive refit in 2021. Now better than new, the boat is being managed by Burgess. With weekly charter rates from $497,000, the vessel offers five-star accommodations for 12 guests in six cabins, with pampering from a crew of 20. Part of the refit included a full interior refresh by Italian interior designer Laura Pomponi, plus a major focus on wellness. That meant the construction of a new, state-of-the-art gym and spa, the assistance of a certified onboard trainer, a masseuse and beautician. After PBIBS, Nero will spend the winter in the Caribbean before returning to the Med for the summer season.
Ocean Alexander Puro 35P
Ocean Alexander is debuting the first of its new Puro superyacht series at PBIBS. The 113-foot Puro 35P comes from the drawing board of Italian designer Giorgio M. Cassetta and is a step back from the polarizing lines of OA’s recent Revolution and Explorer series with their bold, vertical bow designs. Aimed at long-distance cruising, the 35P can carry over 5,000 gallons of fuel and is powered by twin 2,000 hp MAN V12s for a 24-knot top speed. Twin 55kW Kohler generators can also keep the yacht powered at anchor for long periods. Other standout features include extensive glazing in the chiseled fiberglass hull, a forward deck plunge pool, and spacious accommodations for 10 guests.
Think of it as the “starter” Sirena. Aimed at a younger demographic, the Turkish builder’s brand-new Sirena 48 is making its U.S. debut at PBIBS after a global reveal at last fall’s Cannes boat show. Such is its appeal that 27 hulls have already been sold, with 13 of the orders coming from North America. Looking like a scaled-down version of Sirena’s popular 58, its distinctive, trawler-style lines are from Argentinian designer Germán Frers. With more interior space than a typical 48-footer, the yacht offers three staterooms—plus a crew cabin—a spacious, light-filled salon, a large cockpit, an oversized flybridge, and a vast forward social area. Take your pick from twin 550 hp Cummins QSB, or 670 hp Volvo D11 turbo diesels. Or the builder is also offering hybrid power with twin 285 hp electric motors charged up by variable-speed generators that are good for a 30-mile battery-only range.
Feadship ‘Olympus’
Picture purchasing a classic 180-foot Feadship superyacht, and then getting a $10 million bill for a major refit. That was the case with Olympus , built by the Dutch masters at Feadship in 1996 to a design by Britain’s Andrew Winch and the celebrated naval architect Frits De Voogt. Sold in 2022, the new owner sent it to the Monaco Marine refit center in La Ciotat, France for a major makeover. It included overhauling the 2,600 hp Caterpillar engines and generators, repairs to the structure, substantial upgrades to the guest areas and crew quarters, and new paint throughout. With the work completed just last year, the vessel is said to be in mint condition. Offered jointly by brokers Fraser and Edmiston, Olympus has an asking price of $28.5 million. With accommodations for 16 guests in eight cabins, the boat’s highlights include two primary suites, tropical-spec air conditioning, and Palm Beach-chic decor.
Benetti ‘Triumph’
Italian yachting powerhouse Benetti is showing off its superyacht-building skills with the 213-foot Triumph . Delivered in 2021, this Giorgio M. Cassetta-designed steel-and-aluminum world girder features six decks, a 1,400-square-foot primary suite with outdoor terrace and adjoining lounge, a 750-square-foot beach club, and a touch-and-go helipad. What sets Triumph apart, however, is its lavish interior furnishings put together by the owner along with Benetti Interior Style and Monaco-based Green & Mingarelli Design. It includes pieces by French glassmaker Lalique, marble from Marfil, Statuario and Armani, furs, silk and wool carpets, plus a collection of cool black-and-white wildlife photographs by British fine art photographer David Yarrow. The pièce de résistance? That would be the owner’s Triumph Bonneville motorcycle displayed in the salon.
Fjord 39 XP/XL
Germany’s Fjord Yachts, part of the Hanse Group, has a new 39-foot day boat that it’s unveiling at the Palm Beach show. The 39 XP and XL keep all the bold design cues of the bigger Fjord 41 XP and XL, like a big, open cockpit, walkaround center console, vertical bow, mile-high windshield and stretched hardtop. As for the differences between the XP and XL, it’s all about power. The XL comes with a choice of twin 320hp Volvo D4 diesels, or bigger 440 hp D6 versions, both with Volvo stern drives. Likely more appealing to U.S. buyers will be the XP powered by twin 400 hp Mercury Verado V10 outboards giving a 50-knot top speed. Pricing starts at around $500,000.
Turquoise ‘Talisman C’
Chandeliers don’t come more dramatic than this. Cascading down the central spiral staircase of the Turkish-built, 231-foot superyacht Talisman C , this jaw-dropping piece of art comprises an array of multi-colored glass balls threaded on stainless-steel rods and illuminated by hanging fiber-optic strands. It’s the creation of Prague-based Crystal Caviar and is one of a number of glass installations on this sleek, low-profile superyacht. Built in 2011 by the Proteksan Turquoise shipyard, Talisman C was designed inside and out by London-based studio H2 Yacht Design, with naval architecture by Italy’s Hydro Tec. With cabins for 12 guests, one of its highlights is a huge primary suite, which boasts more crystal chandeliers and a private library. Twin 2,447 hp Caterpillar diesels give a top speed of 18 knots and a transatlantic range of 7,000 nautical miles at 12 knots. It’s listed with Burgess for $59.9 million.
Sanlorenzo 44 ‘Kamakasa’
Delivered in 2020 and sold to a new buyer just last August, the 146-foot Sanlorenzo 44 Alloy Kamakasa will be for sale at PBIBS. The asking price, through the Italian Yacht Group, is $23.75 million. Lack of use might also be the issue here; the yacht’s twin 2,600 hp MTU V16 diesels have a mere 289 hours on the clock. Built in aluminum to a design by Rome-based Zuccon International Project, Kamakasa was the second hull in the Sanlorenzo 44 Alloy series. One of the top features is a primary suite that spans three levels and almost 1,600 square feet; it also comes with a private Jacuzzi, separate bathrooms, a walk-in closet, and a private study. The yacht’s lightweight construction and MTU power combine to deliver an impressive 20-knot top speed.
Bahama 41 GT2
As ultimate, reel-’em-in, fishing center consoles go, the Bahama 41 from West Palm Beach-based Bahama Boat Works is as hard-core as they come. But when owners kept asking for a little more comfort for the family, the builder responded. The result is the brand-new flagship 41 GT debuting at PBIBS. While the proven, wave-slicing hull stays the same, the cockpit layout is new. In place of the single bench seat, there are now three-across bucket seats with a second row behind. The wider console now has space for a pair of 22-inch Garmin screens, while the new extended hardtop features sun shades and even a rain shower. Outboard choices stay the same with either twin Mercury V12 600s, or four 400 hp Mercury V10s, good for a 65-knot-plus top speed. Pricing is from around $920,000.
Heesen ‘Book Ends’
Launched in 2022, this 164-foot Heesen is part of the Book Ends collection, owned by an American couple who have had more than 18 yachts with the same name. The exterior design of this Heesen was by Omega Architects, while Dutch studio Van Oossanen did the naval architecture. The yacht is part of Heesen’s fast cruising series, which is more efficient than other vessels its size, and can reach 23 knots at full speed with its MTU 16V 4000 M65L engines. The yacht is listed through Ocean Independence for 42 million Euro, or about $45.7 million.
