Hunt Yachts 32CC
- By Chris Woodward
- Updated: July 27, 2015
Hunt uses an innovative extension of the center-console — from centerline to the port rail — on this 32-footer to allow for an aft-facing companionway leading to the interior cabin. The extra space also makes room for the small galley belowdecks; Hunt includes a shower and a single bunk with rod storage. A second freshwater showerhead is located aft, at the transom.
The 32cc features an expansive cockpit with four vertical rod holders, a port insulated fish box, and an optional pullout shade in the T-top for sun protection. The forward J seating accommodates eight people; an optional teak bow table creates casual dining space.
Choose the deluxe fishing package to add a 30-gallon livewell and a tackle station. The aft seat folds away for better fishability at the transom. Hunt also provides under-gunwale rod storage and lockable rod space beneath the starboard bow seat.
Twin 250 hp outboards comprise the standard power package. Optional power includes twin 350s or an inboard. Hunt has clocked the top speed at 45 mph.

Hunt Yachts: 32 Center Console
A stylish dayboat for weekend warriors.
It’s hard not to feel self-conscious when you find yourself surrounded by young professional sailors, fishermen, and other twenty-somethings. They’re at the top of their game: no family, no 9-to-5, and a body that still bounces back from a pummeling day after day. Even worse, too many small boats these days seem to be designed exclusively for such die-hard boaters, leaving the rest of us feeling like we’ve gone 12 rounds with Floyd Mayweather instead of just out to the canyons for a few hours of fishing.
Which is precisely why it was such a relief to step aboard the brand-new 32' center console from Hunt Yachts, the 32cc, and instantly recognize that at last someone had built a boat for the rest of us—the weekend warriors.
From the moment I boarded, the boat seemed to be celebrating my mid-life status. My creaky joints thanked me for using the built-in, port-side extended center-console step to retrieve the spring lines—no deep knee-bends needed. And while I’d like to think that the throttles on the twin Yamaha outboards could’ve gotten me out of our tight slip without a scratch, the Yamaha Helm Master joystick control kept my departure stress-free. Lastly, the ample storage made the fenders and docklines disappear quickly, helping my parental need for a clutter-free deck.
Once we’d cleared Hunt’s protected dock in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, though, the 32cc showed me that my days of enjoying a thrill ride weren’t entirely over. Though the 32cc comes standard with Yamaha 250s (an inboard is also an option), the boat we tested, Hull No. 1, was equipped with twin 300s, an upgrade that helped the signature Hunt deep-V hull jump out of the hole in an instant, even while pushing a sizeable 9,000-pound displacement. An automatic trim system brought the bow down so naturally that my passengers might’ve thought I did it myself! Throwing the throttles down summoned up an impressive 5200 RPM and sent us down Narragansett Bay at highway speeds. But the glass console surround let me enjoy the speed without the windblown, teardrop-inducing rush that is too often experienced at such velocities.
The pitfall of a center-console boat is that sometimes the helmsman is the only comfortable person aboard. On the 32cc, though, the wide console keeps the wind off the transom bench (which folds up for fishing), and even the J-shaped forward seating area is comfortable at all but top speed. By extending the console across the port side, while still allowing a standard walk-through to starboard, Hunt has created a boat that serves many masters.
Below decks, the extended console has also opened up options barely imaginable on a dayboat like this. The galley includes a microwave, mini-fridge, and plenty of counter space. A bifold door keeps the cabin spacious while also allowing for a full head and shower (there’s another shower outside, should you want to hose off on the swim platform). The portside bunk seems a bit cozy for a grownup, but for small children who need a nap it’d be just the ticket. And with an aft-facing doorway, those kids can safely come up on deck when they awake—a design feature that shows how in tune Hunt’s design crew is to the needs and daily lives of their target customers.
The 32cc will not be a fit for every boating family’s desire or resources. But if you’re proud to claim your status on Friday night as a weekend warrior, I’d say there are few boats on the market that will let you do it in as much style.

International trade and integration: The latest research
Alejandro forero, ana fernandes.
What’s the latest research in international trade and integration? Researchers from the World Bank, the IMF and the WTO recently gathered for a one-day workshop to present their latest research on the topic. The papers presented addressed topical questions in areas as diverse as the links between trade, wage inequality and the poor, global value chains, non-tariff measures, preferential trade agreements, FDI restrictions, and migration. We provide a quick roundup on the papers presented during the workshop.
On trade, wage inequality, labor mobility and the poor Countries often protect their poor by raising tariffs on the goods they produce. But if all countries apply pro-poor trade policies, a coordination problem arises since the poor are employed in similar sectors across countries. The result is that the goods the poor produce face higher barriers in destination markets. Roberta Piermartini from the WTO shows that indeed tariffs faced by Indian exports abroad are higher for goods produced by individuals in lower-income groups and by women. Removing this unbalanced access to international markets may contribute to a more even distribution of the gains from trade. Empirical evidence shows that after countries liberalize trade, wage inequality increases gradually for several years but then stops increasing and can even decrease. The model by Matthieu Bellon from the IMF explains this evidence emphasizing the dynamics of worker reallocation between heterogeneous firms and workers in the presence of adjustment costs to labor. Using a novel district-to-district migration dataset, Aaditya Mattoo from the World Bank studies the determinants of worker mobility across Indian districts. He provides evidence of invisible walls across state borders explained by the existence of state-level entitlement schemes, ranging from access to subsidized goods through the public distribution system to the bias in favor of states’ own residents in access to tertiary education and public sector employment. On Global Value Chains (GVCs) Strong domestic linkages across firms reduce fragmentation costs but also create a lock-in situation in relationship-specific sectors. Therefore, domestic value chains (DVCs) can either be stepping stones or stumbling blocks for GVCs. Cosimo Beverelli from the WTO presents empirical evidence showing that GVCs have their foundations in DVCs, supporting the stepping stone hypothesis. Real currency depreciations not only increase exports of domestic value-added (DVA) - a conventional result - but also increase imports of foreign value added (FVA) - a result contrasting with traditional trade theory, according to the study by Gee Hee Hong from the IMF. These results support the idea that GVC-related exports and imports are complements in production. On preferential trade agreements The impact of trade agreements in existence until 1995 is revisited by Swarnali Hannan from the IMF who introduces synthetic control methods as a novel approach to establish causality. She finds substantial gains from trade agreements, with an average boost to exports among preferential partners of 80 percentage points over a decade. Exploring the role of deep trade agreements, which go beyond tariff reduction to cover policy areas such as investment, competition policy, and intellectual property rights protection, Alen Mulabdic from the World Bank uses a new dataset on the depth and content of the agreements to show that deep trade agreements lead to more trade creation and less trade diversion than shallow trade agreements. Below is a brief flavor of other interesting papers also presented at the workshop:
- Revisiting the trade and growth debate focusing on China as a source of supply and demand shocks, Jaebin Ahn from the IMF finds a positive impact of Chinese import penetration and export market access on sectoral total factor productivity growth in advanced economies. The recent trade slowdown could thus weigh significantly on the already weak productivity growth in advanced economies.
- Using a new methodology to estimate bilateral ad valorem equivalent (AVE) of non-tariff measures (NTMs), Hiau Looi Kee from the World Bank shows that products with higher AVEs exhibit larger discrepancies across reported import and export statistics for a given bilateral flow. The evidence is consistent with the hypothesis that firms misdeclare product codes or country of origin to circumvent cumbersome and opaque NTMs.
- According to a unique disaggregated IMF dataset on global trade in services, presented by Saurabh Mishra from the IMF, service exports from developing countries have grown tenfold since 1990 - twice as fast as those from advanced economies. Transport and travel have lost share in world services exports to intellectual property and financial services.
- The availability of factoring - an alternative finance instrument - is shown by Marc Auboin from the WTO to allow small firms in emerging economies to access international markets, in particular by being involved in global supply chains.
- Foreign acquisitions improve management practices – e.g., through an increase in the number of hierarchical layers and increased span of control among top managers. One reasons could be acquisition-induced reductions in communication costs within acquired firms in Portugal, according to the study by Paulo Bastos from the World Bank.
- Bilateral investment agreements can lower FDI restrictions but in practice several countries have lowered their FDI restrictions without such agreements while others retain high FDI restrictions with no interest in such agreements. The research by Mathilde Lebrand from the World Bank emphasizes the role of tax havens to which the profits of multinationals can be shifted as an important determinant of FDI restrictions.
- Aggregate trade responds sharply to spatial frictions, falling rapidly over short distances as distance to the destination increases, even within the European Single Market. The study by Shawn Tan from the World Bank shows that such sharp trade responses are explained by trade in intermediate inputs, as there is spatial clustering of firms connected by input-output linkages, who choose to co-locate to avoid trade costs.

The Impact of Technology and Trade on Migration: Evidence from the US
Labor mobility can re-equilibrate local labor markets after an economic shock. Both robot adoption and Chinese import competition between 1990 and 2015 caused large declines in manufacturing employment across US local labor markets (commuting zones, CZs). However, only robots were associated with a decline in CZ population, which resulted from reduced in-migration rather than by increased out-migration.

Trade remains an important driver of economic prosperity that has lifted millions out of poverty. The OECD provides data, insights and tools to monitor trade and supply chain resilience and sustainability, helping governments shape domestic and international trade policies. Together with governments, policy makers, academia and the private sector, the OECD contributes to promoting open markets and a rules-based international trading system in good working order.

Policy issues.
- Agricultural trade and markets Agricultural trade plays a crucial role in providing livelihoods for farmers and people employed along the food supply chain and contributes to reducing global food insecurity. A growing share of agro-food trade involves global value chains (GVCs), where the different stages of agricultural and food production processes are spread over several countries. Learn more
- Digital trade The digital transformation has led to unprecedented reductions in the costs of engaging in international trade, changing how and what we trade, and who can trade. However, it has also given rise to new regulatory challenges that make it more difficult for governments to ensure that the opportunities from digital trade are realised and shared more inclusively. Learn more
- Export credits The OECD is the key multilateral negotiating forum where international disciplines for officially supported export credits are agreed, implemented, and monitored. These disciplines establish a level playing field for exporters via a series of financial and good governance rules. Learn more
- Global trade and open markets Globalisation creates opportunities for workers, consumers and firms and has helped lift millions out of poverty. Open markets are a source of economic resilience and diversification along supply chains. Open economies grow faster than closed ones but a fair distribution of those gains does not happen automatically. The OECD’s work in support of open markets and a rules-based international trading system aims at making trade work for all. Learn more
- Global value and supply chains About 70% of international trade involves global value chains (GVCs), as services, raw materials, parts, and components cross borders – often numerous times. A strong trend has emerged towards the international dispersion of value chain activities such as design, production, marketing, distribution, etc. This emergence of GVCs and increased interest in their sustainability and resilience requires analysing supply chains as a whole and developing policies around them. Learn more
- Illicit trade The integrated global economy provides opportunities for citizens and businesses, but also for criminals running illicit trade networks in, for example, counterfeits, illicit medicines, wildlife, narcotics, excise goods, and raw materials. Countering illicit trade is essential to prevent wide-ranging damaging effects, from exposure of citizens to dangerous products to loss of needed tax revenue. Learn more
- Inclusive trade International trade is a major driver of economic growth: exporting firms earn higher profits, pay higher wages, and grow faster than non-exporting firms. Yet these benefits are not evenly distributed. Ensuring that businesses led by women, Indigenous People, and other historically disadvantaged groups are able to benefit from the opportunities provided by international trade will contribute to greater societal equality and higher economic growth. Learn more
- Services trade Services play a vital role in the global economy. They generate more than two-thirds of global gross domestic product (GDP), attract over three-quarters of foreign direct investment in advanced economies, employ the most workers, and create the most new jobs worldwide. In a modern digital economy, trade in services ensures access to information, skills and technology. Yet trade in services remains affected by a range of barriers that threaten to undermine these potential benefits. Learn more
- Subsidies and government support Subsidies and government support can come in many forms, with different types prevalent in different sectors. While some types of support are relatively well understood, others are much more difficult to identify and measure. A common understanding of the nature and scale of subsidies across sectors is a critical first step in international co-operation to address concerns about the global level playing field. Learn more
- Trade and sustainability OECD work on trade and sustainability contributes to enhancing the understanding of how trade and the environment interact and to documenting and examining the effect of trade policies and trade-related environmental policies on trade, climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution. In particular, we look at how trade facilitation can ensure environmental goods and services cross borders smoothly and that trade-related environmental policies do not hamper trade more than necessary. Authorship History
Written by Karin Johnsrud. Updated by Dana Neacșu.
International trade is a complicated area of law to research because there are numerous levels of trade organizations and interactions. There are bilateral trade agreements, regional trade agreements and multinational trade agreements. Each of these agreements has its own history, policies and dispute settlement procedures. Trade organizations established under the agreements have separate resources that can be searched. Furthermore, individual countries have their own policies and laws relating to international trade. As an example, the United States Congress must pass legislation enacting international trade agreements before the United States can officially become a party. The national policies have to be researched individually and frequently separately from the resources relating to the international organizations.
The purpose of this guide is to provide an introduction to a variety of the resources available on campus, as well as from the Internet. General introductory resources will be discussed first. Then the guide will proceed through a discussion of the major multilateral trade agreements, regional trade agreements and United Nations trade bodies.

These topics often spark interesting discussions and allow you to critically analyze different perspectives. However, ensure that you approach controversial topics with objectivity and rigor, presenting a balanced view in your research.

The Hunt 32 Center Console powerboat is produced by the brand Hunt Yachts since 2016. The Hunt 32 Center Console is a 9.78 meters center console boat with 1 guest cabin and a draft of 0.53 meters. The boat has a fiberglass / grp hull with a CE certification class (C) and can navigate along the coastline and on rivers and canals.
