Captain and assistant were super accommodating and adjusted their schedule for us due to a last minute change on our end, which we greatly appreciated. Bring all the booze and snacks!

We had such a great trip! Captain Steve and Savannah were great in providing a memorable trip. We were 4 adults an2 kids so we had plenty of space to relax while sailing around. They brought us to a great swim spot and made sure we were safe and having the best time. Can't wait to come back!

I had a family reunion in Hawaii and this was by far the most memorable and fun experience we did as a group of 18 people. Captain Devon asked what type of cruise we wanted, and he delivered. We enjoyed the music choices and photo opportunities that he presented. Can't recommend this more for any large groups looking for a private experience.

Captain Devon, was absolutely the Best! I had a wedding party of 25 and we all had a blast! on our cruise with Captain Devon, He was very professional, with great attention to safety! and very patient with our group, He took us to a great snorkeling spot and the kids and older folks had a great time, I highly recommend him for your boat cruising adventures in Hawaii!

We had a total blast. Capitan Polu was the BEST! We felt at home on the boat. We saw sea turtles and enjoyed having a semi-private experience. We went to the same place as all of the big snorkeling tours, but we didn’t have to share a boat with 30 others. Highly recommend!

We entrusted a company called Hawaii Sea burial Center, located in Tokyo, and came from Japan to Hawaii for an ocean scattering ceremony at Waikiki. With the performance of a ukulele player, it became a touching ceremony. The captain's service was excellent, and I thought that when I pass away, I would like my family to scatter my ashes from this yacht. Thank you.

Such a hidden gem, there should be more reviews. $40 for people under 21 and $60 for over 21. They supply all the equipment and free drinks!!! Would definitely recommend. The young lady who is the snorkel guide was super understanding and patient! The rest of the crew is a little iffy just feels like they hate the tourists which is understandable. For the price it was very much worth it! Beautiful view while on the boat! Overall 3.5/ 5 stars!!!

FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE! Jesse, Brandon and Captain Noah were great! The price included 3 cocktails. $40 for over 21 and $30 for under 21. Great one hour sail, 30 min out and 30 min back. The boat was easy to board and un board. (It might be an issue for older folks or ones with unsteady gate.) There are two "nets" to sit on and experience the waves, if you choose. Otherwise, there's lots of seating on the boat. You buy your tickets and go straight to the beach. Boarding is on the beach at Duke's Restaurant. Highly recommend!

One of my biggest highlights of trip to Honolulu. Justin and his crew were amazing hosts and provided a sail ride of a lifetime off Waikiki. I'd highly recommend the snorkeling or hour long sail trip - both of which I took after enjoying the snorkeling trip so much that I wanted to go again.

Great fun Staff and crowd that boards. You can sit on the netting in front of the catamaran. Very fun and makes you want to go again or longer.

Cruising the Hawaiian Islands offers U.S. travelers an immersive South Pacific escape with all the comforts of home. In fact, the Aloha State is, in many ways, an ideal cruise destination. It has year-round sunny weather, four main islands featuring varied topographies — including sandy beaches, cascading waterfalls, volcanic mountains and vibrant green valleys — and a wide array of land- and water-based activities.

The main caveat? Hawaii cruise options are somewhat limited — just a fraction of what's available in the Caribbean — and many itineraries involve multiday crossings from the West Coast. Only one cruise line offers Hawaii itineraries throughout the year; most others visit during specific months or when repositioning ships in spring and fall.

Norwegian Cruise Line's 7-night Inter-island Hawaii

For travelers who want more aloha time than the typical eight-hour port call allows, Norwegian Cruise Line has a solution. Its 2,186-passenger Pride of America lets vacationers sample four Hawaiian Islands over seven days, with overnights at Maui and Kauai, plus port calls on both Hilo and Kona on the Big Island. In total, this itinerary offers nearly 100 hours of shore time.

Pride of America sails round-trip from Honolulu every Saturday year-round. As a U.S.-flagged ship, it's the only large vessel permitted to sail this way. Not only do you skip the long Pacific crossing that most cruise ships do to reach Hawaii, but passports are not required for U.S. citizens, and you can tack on pre- or post-cruise stays on Oahu.

The overnights on Maui and Kauai also mean it's possible to try several of Hawaii's signature experiences that most port calls don't allow. Passengers can catch dusk or dawn from atop Maui's massive 10,023-foot dormant volcano with sunrise and sunset excursions to the Haleakala Crater. And with the ship in port all night on Kauai, guests who want to enjoy traditional Hawaiian cuisine, music and hula performances can book the Luau Kalamaku for a fun evening out.

Pride of America, which has been cruising Hawaii since 2005, doesn't have the onboard thrills (think: a race track, virtual reality gaming and waterslides) of Norwegian's newer ships , but that's OK because the islands, not the ship, are your main destination. Its American-themed decor celebrates U.S. cities in a vibrant and, at times, kitschy way, but a 2021 refurbishment left its cabins and public spaces feeling refreshed.

Many of Norwegian's specialty dining venues (which incur a surcharge) are on board, including Cagney's Steakhouse , Le Bistro (here, it's Jefferson's Bistro), Moderno Churrascaria and Teppanyaki.

Who should go : This itinerary is ideal for anyone seeking a convenient way to island hop — and see a lot of Hawaii — as it makes the most of the generous shore time with a combination of independent exploration and shore excursions. Most sailings attract couples ages 50 and older, although summer and holiday sailings have plenty of families on board.

UnCruise Adventures' 7-night Hawaiian Seascapes

Cruisers seeking a less traditional, more carefree Hawaii experience can have it from November to April aboard UnCruise Adventures ' 36-passenger Safari Explorer. The seven-night Hawaiian Seascapes itinerary, which begins either on Molokai or Hawaii Island, is an unconventional one designed for those who enjoy going off the beaten path in an intimate and more authentic setting. U.S. passports aren't required to sail.

UnCruise visits four islands — Maui and Lanai, plus Molokai and Hawaii — and focuses on not only their striking landscapes and underwater beauty but also the cultural traditions, cuisine and music of the Hawaiian people. On Molokai, where there's not a single traffic light and the lifestyle is slow-paced, passengers get a chance to "talk story" with locals and enjoy a paina (feast) and evening jam session. Lanai activities range from snorkel, paddleboard and kayak excursions to all-terrain-vehicle adventures exploring the privately owned island's dramatic sea cliffs, red rock formations and vast fields once filled with Dole pineapples.

Maui's humpback whale season is typically from mid-January to March. If your cruise falls within that time frame, you might catch sight of them while cruising off the coast of Maui. You might also catch glimpses of dolphins and sea turtles. A "Captain's Choice" day is a wild card determined by the weather, marine life in the area and other factors, while the final two days are spent exploring the Big Island via a hike up Hualalai volcano and a skiff ride along the rugged coast, among other activities.

Constructed in 1998, Safari Explorer was designed with adventure itineraries in mind (in summer, the U.S.-flagged ship repositions to Alaska). Its size allows it to navigate areas larger ships can't reach, which in Hawaii means bays and coves ideal for snorkeling or water sports.

With such a small number of passengers aboard, guests get to know each other — and Safari Explorer's friendly and knowledgeable crew — quite well. Passengers come together over meals featuring locally sourced ingredients, and as all UnCruise fares include unlimited wines, spirits and microbrews, shipmates can raise a glass without worrying about who's buying a round. It all lends itself to an exclusive yet utterly relaxed week of cruising.

Who should go : The ship's laid-back onboard vibe paired with its land- and water-based activities make the Hawaiian Seascapes itinerary ideal for active travelers seeking a nature-focused itinerary — although cruise fares (which start around $5,900 per person) are among the priciest for a Hawaii cruise.

Holland America's 17-night Circle Hawaii

Travelers who have more than two weeks to spare and prefer to arrive in Hawaii via ship rather than an airplane can do so on Holland America 's 17-night Circle Hawaii itinerary. The itinerary is offered in 2025 and 2026 on 2,650-passenger Koningsdam and 2,106-passenger Nieuw Amsterdam.

Cruisers who book these sailings must love sea days because crossing the Pacific from San Diego to Honolulu and back requires 10 days. In between, passengers enjoy five or six days in Hawaii on Kauai, Oahu, Maui and the Big Island. Some itineraries stay in select ports overnight. Both ships also call on Ensenada, Mexico, so passports will be required.

Travelers with more time can also visit Hawaii as part of longer Pacific island cruises with Holland America. In 2025, Koningsdam will sail a 35-night Hawaii, Tahiti & Marquesas itinerary that combines visits to four Hawaiian Islands with calls on five islands in French Polynesia and Fanning Island, Kiribati, plus 20 sea days. Nieuw Amsterdam will sail that same itinerary in 2026.

Even longer itineraries are available aboard Zaandam. Choose between 51- and 56-night Tales of the South Pacific sailings that visit multiple islands in Hawaii and French Polynesia, along with ports in the Cook Islands, American Samoa and Fiji.

Holland America is popular with cruisers ages 60 and older, many of them retired, who have time to enjoy longer itineraries on ships that offer good value with a focus on culinary and musical enjoyment. Two of Koningsdam's most popular venues are its live entertainment area with three venues — B.B. King's Blues Club (for Memphis-style rhythm and blues), Billboard Onboard (for chart-topping hits played by a live pianist) and Rolling Stone Rock Room (for a live band playing classic rock) — and World Stage, a theater with a 270-degree screen used for both special BBC Earth in Concert and theatrical productions.

Miske to forfeit more than $20 million in assets

HONOLULU — Michael J. Miske Jr., found guilty of racketeering conspiracy, murder, and 11 other felony charges, must forfeit assets totaling more than $20 million, the jury that convicted him determined Wednesday.

Miske was convicted in U.S. District Court before Chief U.S. Judge Derrick Watson last Thursday, and the forfeitures were determined by jurors in the second phase of the trial. Miske is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 26.

While the total value is undetermined, Assistant U.S. Attorney Ken Sorenson said the value of all the assets might be around $20 to $28 million, which he said is the biggest individual forfeiture case in Hawai‘i.

“If it was indeed north of $25 million, it would indeed be one of the biggest forfeitures ever,” he said.

While most of Miske’s properties have been seized and are under the federal government’s control, he had not yet lost his rights to the assets through the forfeiture process. The forfeiture of assets is a separate legal procedure that follows the seizure, resulting in the permanent transfer of ownership from the individual to the government.

Miske’s assets include properties in east Honolulu, boats, exotic cars, artwork such as paintings and sculptures, and money in the bank.

On the 103rd day of his trial, Miske, 50, was found guilty on 13 of 16 charges, including racketeering conspiracy and murder.

Federal prosecutors maintained that Miske orchestrated the 2016 killing of 21-year-old Johnathan Fraser, who was the best friend of Miske’s only son, Caleb.

Prosecutors argued during the trial that Miske conspired with others to kidnap and murder Fraser, believing Fraser was responsible for Caleb’s death in an automobile crash.

In March 2016, Miske instructed a co-conspirator to develop a plan for kidnapping and murdering Fraser for a named price. Around July 30, 2016, Fraser was kidnapped and killed.

Miske denied the allegations, but last Thursday, jurors convicted him of Fraser’s murder, finding him guilty of kidnapping and murder-for-hire.

Jurors convicted Miske after hearing evidence from federal prosecutors that Miske and other co-defendants ran the “Miske Enterprise,” whose activities included murder, kidnapping and robbery. Prosecutors said for about two decades until June 2020, Miske and his co-defendants operated a racketeering enterprise — the “Miske Enterprise,” whose activities included murder, kidnapping and robbery.

According to a statement released by the U.S. Attorney’s Office Wednesday, the activities also included acts relating to murder-for-hire, interference with commerce through robbery and extortion, wire fraud, fraud in connection with identification documents, financial institution fraud, the Currency and Foreign Transactions Reporting Act and obstruction of justice.

In addition, prosecutors say that around March 2017 Miske and others conspired to release a chemical weapon — the fumigant and insecticide chloropicrin — into two Honolulu nightclubs as part of a conspiracy. Miske was also convicted of obstructing justice for submitting false character letters to the court in support of his request for pretrial release while this case was pending.

The jury’s verdict last Thursday cleared Miske of three charges: a count of conspiracy to commit murder for hire resulting in death, one count of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and one count of bank fraud.

On Monday, outside the jury’s presence, Miske’s team objected to the government’s Exhibit 99 for the forfeiture trial. Miske was granted the opportunity to review the exhibits and reserved cross-examination for Tuesday.

Miske’s team also objected to the admission of hearsay during the forfeiture phase, arguing that the government has not provided legal precedents supporting the use of second-hand information. The court has reserved its ruling on this matter.

Miske’s team requested that the court exclude claims linking licensing issues to wire fraud as a basis for forfeiture. The federal court then denied their request to dismiss the government’s claim of ‘responsible managing employee fraud’ as legally inadequate for forfeiture.

The jury found that 28 of Miske’s properties, previously owned by him or associated with his businesses — including Kamaaina Termite and Pest Control — could potentially be subject to forfeiture, as they might have been used to facilitate his crimes or purchased with proceeds from his criminal activity.

Allegations including using fishing boats to move drugs and money were among the charges against Miske.

Deliberations in the asset forfeiture phase of the trial began Monday afternoon and jurors on Wednesday unanimously decided to remove Miske’s rights to his 28 assets, which will go into the government’s Assets Forfeiture Fund — which can be shared among law enforcement agencies and used to cover costs related to the forfeiture process or other investigative expenses.

“Today, there was a forfeiture proceeding which I challenged under the theory that in the Third Circuit, jurors are instructed to make decisions beyond a reasonable doubt, since this is a criminal proceeding,” said Michael Kennedy, Miske’s defense attorney, after the decision. “We will address this issue and the other convictions for Mr. Miske on appeal once there is a judgment on the sentence.”

Kennedy also reiterated that Miske was found not guilty or acquitted of several charges.

“I’ve been trying cases for a long, long time, I have different opinions on the other counts,” he said. “We will go forward with fighting for Mike.”

The jury unanimously found that Miske’s interest in 20 of 28 properties was acquired or maintained through racketeering activity.

The jury also unanimously determined that nine of properties represent an interest in, claim against, or property right that provided Miske with influence over any enterprise he established, operated, controlled or participated in.

The jury found that only one of the 28 properties was not derived from, nor does it constitute, any proceeds obtained directly or indirectly from racketeering activity.

“The jury really pored over it; they spent the time to go through each asset and make determinations,” Sorenson said. “I truly credit them.”

All assets, including boats and cars, will be sold. If a third party claims ownership of the forfeited assets, they may assert their interest through a separate ancillary forfeiture process that will take place after the Nov. 26 sentencing. Any disputes over such claims by the government are resolved through a civil trial.

Sorenson said for now, the process of forfeiture would move on and the department will continue to try to liquidate Miske’s assets.

“In the event that there was a reversal of the conviction, for instance, then obviously it gets a little more complicated with valuation of assets. But that gets worked out down the line in the event of a reversal. It’s not something we anticipate, obviously.”

According to Sorenson, victims may request the forfeited funds as restitution in some cases.

“We look forward to moving forward in the sentencing phase to see what he’s going to be sentenced to,” Sorenson said. “He’s looking at mandatory life. We do expect that sentence.”

For three of Miske’s 13 charges — racketeering conspiracy, murder in aid of racketeering and kidnapping resulting in death — he faces a maximum prison term of mandatory minimum life, serving life in prison with no possibility of parole.

The federal trial lasted nearly seven months, during which prosecutors called over 240 witnesses. Miske’s 12 former co-defendants, who all entered guilty pleas before the trial, are scheduled to be sentenced soon.

Miske is currently held at the Federal Detention Center Honolulu. Sorenson said he expects Miske to be transferred and serve time in a federal prison.

“We share, and everybody in the community, a sense of relief that this scourge on our community has been brought to justice, ” he said.

Miske’s 28 properties and assets are:

>> The real property located at 6 Lumahai Street, Portlock, Honolulu, Hawai‘i, and any rental income derived therefrom.

>> The real property located at 614 Paokano Loop, Kailua, Hawai‘i.

>> $611,123.60 constituting proceeds of the sale of the real property located at 559 Kumukahi Place, Hawai‘i Kai, Honolulu, Hawai‘i.

>> The “Painkiller”, 2014 37.5-foot Boston Whaler Pleasure Craft, Hull No. BWCE1942D414, Registration No. HA-9849-H, held in the name of Hawai‘i Partners LLC.

>> Hawai‘i Longline Limited Entry Permit issued to the fishing vessel “Rachel”, Vessel Number 1050716, held in the name of Kama‘aina Holdings LLC.
