Private Parties: The WYC books daytime events and full restaurant-buyout evening events. We no long book private room or partial space-rental events.

Boaters welcome, self-docking only.

Took over an hour to get served, ordered a burger, fries were cold, told the server and somehow got a replacement of hot fries ... in 3 minutes. Place has seen better days. Mens room needs some TLC Read more

We dined here on a Sunday evening while on vacation with family. The view was by far the best part of our experience. We dined ... outside, however on a trip to the restroom inside, we found the dining room and restroom to be in a dilapidated state. The menuwas small, drink selection small, and most importantly, the food was very disappointing and portions small. We were expectingfine dining, however we were met with flavorless risotto, a hair on the scallops, and watered down cocktails. The service wasadequate, but not spectacular (we understand it is hard to find help in the current climate...). Do not recommend thisrestaurant. Read more

Food fantastic ! Nice location and great wine list. Service was excellent. Oysters !!!!!! Yum! Great views of Lake and VT mountains.

Delicious food. Perfect view. Lovely people. Absolutely worth the visit. Good cocktails too!

Brand new spot on the shore of Lake Champlain in Westport Ny. Absolutely can't beat the view. Good service throughout our drink service then dinner. Derek was amazingly attentive and personable, tons of smiles throughout. Features lots of local produce and meat, a boon to the area. Had the scallops, well prepared and seasoned. Leon, the burger of course. Both of us enjoyed the food and ambiance. Had a good time chatting with other summer locals (like us) during the rain storm. Hope this place endures. A place for inventive cocktails and a good wine list is desperately needed in this sleepy shore town. The Champlain valley has much to offer, come eat here and see for yourself.

Screaming crying children running around throughout dinner father sat there whole time calling the. Children restaurant staff did nothing even though they were alerted food was good but We will never return

The view and the experience were outstanding. The restaurant is nestled down a quiet residential road, and overlooks Lake Champlain. There are a few tables right on the water, and small fire pits as well. The service was top notch, and the food and drink selection was lovely. Highly recommend.

Delicious food and great service, and they've always managed to squeeze us in even when we forgot to make reservations. One slight quibble is that they could shake up the veggie platter and do different veggie offerings. That said, everything I have ordered here has been excellent -- try the warm olives -- and the crisped brussels sprouts even better than that.

Gorgeous view and beautiful seating indoor and out. Kind of like a secret location that is truly beautiful and amazing for pictures. Waiters were amazing and friendly and willing to make the experience well. The food is good but could've been better for the price. I was told they only have one chef. Overall good experience and good drinks too!

Hard to find but worth it. Gorgeous setting right on the lake with lots of outdoor seating. Food was very good. Tuna tartare was great. Gazpacho soup had that fresh taste of Summer.

Delicious dining right on Lake Champlain. Loved their leek soup, crab cake, and desserts.

Westport Yacht Club Sold, New Owner Starting Fresh With ‘Mermaid Cove Marina & RV Resort’

LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. — The former Westport Yacht Club, on the 5 Mile Marker of the Gravois Arm of the Lake, has been sold and renamed Mermaid Cove Marina & RV Resort. And the new owner is working hard to re-instill confidence in current members and those who’ve wondered about the property’s future.

John Shook, an entrepreneur who grew up in Kansas City and has a house and condo at Lake of the Ozarks, bought the property earlier this year. In an open letter to club members and tenants, Shook made clear he understood the “frustrations you have all been going through.”

Andrea Michalek, the GM of Mermaid Cove, told LakeExpo, “They had a mass exodus last year,” as many tenants were unhappy with the direction things were going at Westport Yacht Club. Shook is working to right the ship.

“I am a boat and RV owner myself with a pretty good feel for what I would want if I were you,” he said, acknowledging members and tenants had been uneasy about the state of the property and its future.

Shook spelled out an eight-point plan to renovate and restore the property. He also added, “We will not be reopening the Nauti Cantina or any other night club!”

“It was in quite a bit of disrepair,” Michalek said, adding the new owners have been focusing first on ensuring the property was safe and restoring the current amenities. “It’s such a beautiful property,” she added, saying the new owner wants to capture that beauty and make it accessible for members and guests, “and give this community what it needs: a nice gas dock, RV spots, and well-maintained and desirable boat slips.”

The marina has about 110 boat slips, varying in size, with the ability to accommodate up to 48-foot boats.

The RV Park will be undergoing a significant expansion, with the goal of ultimately reaching 300 RV hookups. RV Park tenants will have wi-fi access, as well as access to a planned new bathhouse, as well as the pool.

Mermaid Cove’s Gas Dock and C-Store will be open to the public, and is expected to reopen this season.

Shook said he is seeking input from members and tenants on other additions or amenities that might add value to the Mermaid Cove experience. “My main goal as a businessman is to keep you all happy, and keep you period!” he added.

He concluded the letter by urging members and tenants to “feel confident in knowing your Marina/RV Park is fully paid for as well as fully capitalized to do all the [things] I have listed above.” Shook’s letter is republished below.

Hello Customers of the West Port Marina,

My name Is John Shook and I am the new owner of the Marina and campground.

The reason for this letter is to give all of you an update as to what my plans are for the marina.

I know the recent past has been frustrating and a little scary for the majority of you, and I am very sorry for this.

My first step is to get the property up to a safe and useful level for all of you. I will give you a general overview of what we are doing now and will be doing in the near future.

The new GM of the property is Andrea Michalek. I am very excited to have her as she has been very helpful in letting me know some of the frustrations you have all been going through. Andrea will actually live in the Park herself during the summer months, and is the full time GM of this property. There will be more staff to come obviously, but until she makes final decisions on staffing she will be your contact.

First step: We have already gotten to work on all the docks to get them secure with new jacks, anchors and cables. I believe I will have this all done by the end of the month. You already have access to your boats with no issue now.

Second step is to upgrade all the power, spray for bugs, replace bulbs, and anything else that needs to be done now to allow you convenient and enjoyable access to your slips.

For the third step we will be putting security gates on all the seasonal docks that only slip tenants will have access to. You will be given a code the moment we have these installed.

Fourth step is to fix the bath houses, clean them, and key pad code them just for our tenants.

Fifth, we will be working on putting a laundry house back in the marina/campground.

Sixth, we are re-certifying and reopening the gas dock, including the general store. This dock could possibly have a code as well. All members will of course have the code.

Seventh, we will be redoing the pool for free use by the tenants.

Eighth, we have lined up a certified boat mechanic already for any de-winterizing needs or minor mechanical needs you have before the season starts. This Marina Services Division will also have a boat wash-down or detailing package available soon after. Our park GM will have pricing for you in the coming weeks, but feel free to contact her now and get your name on the list.

One other item to note: We will not be reopening the Nauti Cantina or any other night club!

The afore-mentioned items are all in the works now and we are trying to have it all done by the first holiday weekend.

Future options will also be added but probably not quite as quickly.

For those of you who have asked about the RV resort side: We will be working on this side as well, including improvements such as better sites, more sites and full hook up sites with other amenities that can be used mostly for free by all the RV tenants. Slip tenants will of course have access to these.

We are also seriously considering having a full time, full mechanical boat service, and would appreciate input from our current tenants.

We are considering opening the Tiki bar and/or the pool bar on a limited basis but would also like some input from you all on this idea.

The Nauti Cantina will evolve into something else, but not sure what yet.

I hope this helps some of you feel better about your Marina and RV Park. I am a boat and RV owner myself with a pretty good feel for what I would want if I were you. This letter is not a contract but it does give you all my honest plans and I hope it gives you some solace in knowing what is happening.

All I ask is for you to sit back and see if the improvements are happening at a pace that pleases you! My main goal as a businessman is to keep you all happy, and keep you period!

Sorry for not getting the annual contracts out to you yet, but I really needed to show you all what we have already started working on, and what we’ll be doing before I send out the annual contracts. Andrea will be getting contracts out to you in the coming weeks.

On a final note when it comes to slips, all the existing owners will be offered a slip before we go to market to fill up the marina. If you want a bigger slip, smaller slip, different dock, etc., please let Andrea know and we will accommodate your needs in the order we get them to best of our abilities.
