Vitters 56m Sailing Yacht ‘ALEA’ Emerges After Two-Year Build

Following a two-year build, the 56m Vitters sailing yacht, Alea (formerly Project 3083), has emerged from the Dutch shipyard.

Mani Frers developed the sloop-rigged sailing yacht, which is made of aluminium and has an inverted bow and flush deck. With a lifting keel, the draught drops from 6.6 metres to under 3.5 metres for exploring shallow ports and harbours. At the helm, two carbon rudders allow for fingertip steering.

With gear supplied by Southern Spars New Zealand, a single carbon mast will stand 55.32 metres tall once completed. A 682 square metre mainsail and a 484 square metre blade headsail will be among her sails.

The yacht, which features a modern design by M2 Atelier, includes all expected luxuries internally. These include an owner’s suite located in the bow and four spacious guest cabins aft.

Other notable features include retractable V-Bollards on deck and three V-Drums below deck. Additionally, there is a subsurface Anchor system that keeps the bow and foredeck free of anchor operations.

The 56m Alea yacht has the capacity for a beach club and can carry two tenders, one beneath a hatch on the foredeck and one 8.5 metre tender in the lazarette. The yacht will be launched this week on Friday and will be delivered to her owner in time for the summer.

Description

Alea was conceived to sail around the world in comfort and ease at high average speeds. Open spaces and privacy were paramount together with a fresh design approach using proven technology.

A reverse bow gives the yacht a distinctive dynamic look. The resulting long waterline length allows to create a powerful slippery hullform which sails at low heel angles with a panamax rig averaging speeds above 15 knots.

We wanted to maintain 360 degrees views in all common living areas including the helm stations and aft cockpit hence the deck structure is recessed enhancing the yacht sleek looks. The metallic colour fits with her clean lines and brings out the shape essence. Every detail was designed and engineered to create a homogenous feeling of simplicity.

A huge beach club completes the deck layout at anchor. When under sail this volume contains an 8m long tender to explore the surroundings and support sport activities.

The General Arrangement show the interior and exterior salon in one level in the centre of the yacht. The natural light, protection and views makes this area a ‘feel good’ space at any time of day or night. Further forward a movie area and interior dining area a few steps below lead to the large owner’s area comprising the whole bow forward of the mast. This area includes office space and a spare cabin for long passages. Behind the salon, separate stairs provide access to the guest area on starboard and crew area on port.

Her quick acceleration under sail combined with ease of movement along the various zones together with the quiet operation and long-range capability transmits a desire for endless sailing!

Vitters’ launches 56m, Alea

 after two years project 3083, alea has officially left the shipyard in netherlands….

Alea  has been in-build for just over two years at the Vitters Shipyard , the 56m yacht is designed by Mani Frers while the interior is designed by M2Atelier.

The accommodation is split between the owner’s en-suite stateroom in the bow and four generous guest cabins in the aft ship.  The wide beam of the yacht allows for a large aft deck and beach club. Two tenders will be carried on board, one under the tender hatch at the bow and one 8.5m in the stern garage.

Vitters wanted to and became successful in separating Alea  from its competitors with the retractable V-Bollards which complete the flush deck aesthetics. The three V-Drums down below in the forepeak make headsail changes easy and finally the submarine anchor system keeps the bow and foredeck aesthetically cleans as well as proving to be practical.

Alea  is the first project that has been successfully delivered since 2021, on average the shipyard has delivered on yacht per year, however as stating on the above graph they failed to deliver any superyacht projects in 2018, 2019 and 2021. Vitters have scheduled projects for the next two years. 

The yacht is set to be launched on Friday 20th May 2022 and will then be handed to the owner just before summer.

IN PICTURES: THE TRANSIT AND LAUCH OF VITTERS 56 PROJECT 3083, ALEA

Vitters ’ 56-metre  Project 3083 , now called  Alea , was pulled out of the shed two days ago ahead of her launch today, and our in-house photographer Ruben Griffioen has been hot on her heels. Ruben documented  Alea ’s  transit across the Netherlands from Zwartsluis to Halingen, capturing her navigating the Dutch waterways. This morning he returned to Halingen to photograph the moment she made her first splash.

Alea  has an estimated 320 GT and her interior design was curated by  M2Atelier . Her exterior lines, however, came from the drawing boards of  Mani Frers , who penned her with long, flowing lines to give her a clean, modern aesthetic.

Space has been a design imperative for this sailing yacht; she has five generous staterooms, a large aft deck, and a beach club, as well as two large tender garages.  Alea  offers her owner additional privacy as the main suite is located away from the guest staterooms, in the bow, while the guests will reside aft.

To get  Alea  into the water the team employed two Mammoet cranes. Notably, she’s the second-largest yacht to be launched by  Vitters . The largest from the  Vitters  fleet is the 66-meter  Anatta , which was launched in 2011.  Alea  won’t hold second place for long though, as the shipyard is busy working on a 59-meter sailing yacht,  Project 3090 , which will be launched next year.

ALEA is a 27.71 m Sail Yacht, built in Finland by Nautor Swan and delivered in 2007. She is one of 12 90 models.

Her top speed is 12.0 kn and her cruising speed is 10.0 kn and her power comes from a Perkins diesel engine. She can accommodate up to 6 guests in 3 staterooms, with 4 crew members waiting on their every need. She has a gross tonnage of 128.0 GT and a 6.46 m beam.

She was designed by German Frers , who also completed the naval architecture. German Frers has designed 156 yachts and created the naval architecture for 168 yachts for yachts above 24 metres.

Her interior was designed by Nautor Swan , who has 64 other superyacht interiors designed in the BOAT Pro database - she is built with a Teak deck, a GRP hull, and GRP superstructure.

ALEA is one of 994 sailing yachts in the 24-30m size range, and, compared to similarly sized sailing yachts, her cruising speed is 0.64 kn above the average, and her top speed 0.96 kn above the average.

ALEA is currently sailing under the United Kingdom flag, the 4th most popular flag state for superyachts with a total of 900 yachts registered.
