The Yachtsman Steakhouse at Walt Disney World Resort is a carnivorous paradise. Nestled within the upscale Yacht Club Resort, this fine dining establishment is a beacon for meat lovers. The menu is brimming with succulent steaks, all expertly prepared and cooked to perfection.

Four New Dishes Debut at Yachtsman Steakhouse

One of our favorite places to go for a steak at Walt Disney World is still the Yachtsman Steakhouse at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club. This table service eatery is the perfect place to indulge in delectable cuisine and is within walking distance of EPCOT. Best of all, Yachtsman has just added a few new dishes to its menu and we’re excited to share the details with you below:

As you can see, there are four new menu items now on the menu which include two entrees, one side, and one dessert. Let’s take a closer look at each of these Yachtsman Steakhouse new arrivals!

First up is Filet Mignon. It is served Oscar-style with crab, asparagus, and bearnaise sauce.

Those that prefer a plant-based diet will definitely want to try the new Plant-based Trumpet Mushroom “scallop.” It is served with power grain pilaf, braised kabocha, squash, and yuzu-spinach emulsion.

You can pair your delectable Yachtsman Steakhouse mains with some delectable side dishes including Hot Honey-Bourbon Brussels Sprouts with chili-candied walnuts and Truffle Macaroni & Cheese.

You’ll also want to save room for dessert to sample the new Chocolate Cake featuring a chocolate biscuit, 65% chocolate ganache, chocolate buttercream and raspberry.

Review: Yachtsman Steakhouse, April 2023

Hooray for trip reports! This trip report covers my April 2023 trip for the runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend. Today I’ll be reviewing our post-race dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse. Read all the posts in this report here . Onward!

True story: I made an Advanced Dining Reservation at Yachtsman Steakhouse for the bread basket.

I have heard so many rave reviews of the onion rolls at Yachtsman that it seemed like a perfect post- race dinner spot. Carbs before and carbs after, yes? Also Pat likes steak, the restaurant generally garners good reviews, and we were staying on the Boardwalk already. Sold!

AMBIENCE AT YACHTSMAN STEAKHOUSE

Yachtsman Steakhouse looks like… a steakhouse. Think dim lighting, dark woods, and vaguely nautical decor. If you somehow managed to cart me into the space without me knowing my location and told me I was in Annapolis, I would believe you. (Incidentally, if you are looking for a good steakhouse in Annapolis, I highly recommend Lewnes.)

The good news is that there are a few tapestries scattered around the walls, which keeps the sound level down. And while the tables out in the middle of the restaurant (where we were placed) are not as cozy as the booths look, you don’t feel like you’re stacked on top of your neighbors like you do in some restaurants (looking at you, Coral Reef).

It’s also hella dark in there – mood lighting, doncha know. I tried to doctor my photos as best I could, but to paraphrase every Star Trek doctor: I’m a writer, not a photographer. 😂

DRINKS AT YACHTSMAN STEAKHOUSE

Oddly enough, there are no cocktails listed on the online menu , although there are some beers, whiskey flights, and alcoholic coffee drinks, etc. I don’t remember cocktails on the printed menu either, although to be fair I wasn’t looking for them. Regardless, I’m sure they can make you any number of standard drinks by request.

Instead I want to discuss the wine menu. It is extensive, as you might expect in such an establishment, and you can buy wines by the glass or the bottle. As with all wines ( thank you, John Cleese !), while some level of quality might be indicated by price, what you like is more than likely going to be up to you. But I did want to bring up two notes:

1. As you might also expect at such an establishment, there is a significant upcharge on bottles of wine. This is how restaurants make their money, and I don’t necessarily begrudge them that. But keep it in mind as you budget for your meal here. Unless you don’t need to, in which case this entire paragraph has been a waste of your time. Sorry!

2. You can take your bottle to go! They’re happy to recork and bag it for you. We took most of our second bottle home for room wine purposes.

BUT MOSTLY FOOD

Yachtsman Steakhouse is perhaps most famous for its bread service, and it’s true that I made this reservation partially for that reason. What? I love bread and butter!

And the complimentary Yachtsman bread basket includes two types of bread: a chewy, hearty multigrain roll plus the beloved onion turnovers. Tragically, I was slightly underwhelmed by the turnovers, which were tasty but in a I-could-make-this-with-some-Pillsbury sort of way. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed them, but I wasn’t blown away the bread selection itself.

I did appreciate that the bread came with both softened, salted butter (don’t you hate it when the butter is cold?) AND roasted garlic!!! I loved the roasted garlic. It was soft and as spreadable as the butter, but, y’know, garlic. And if you enjoy throwing garlic around in your recipes with wild abandon (which I do), you’ll love this. A special touch that genuinely impressed me.

As an appetizer, Pat ordered the steakhouse wedge salad: candied Bacon, farmhouse eggs, radish, and smokey blue cheese vinaigrette. The salad itself was crisp and fresh, but we agreed the real standout with the candied bacon. It was thick and full of umami flavor. I wouldn’t call it a must-do, but if you like a salad with your meal this is a solid choice.

After some deliberation, Pat also selected the 12-oz New York strip steak, which our waiter said would’ve been his suggestion anyway. He absolutely loved this! He ordered it medium rare, and described it as perfectly cooked with an incredible seared crust. Ten out of ten, would order again, and that comes from a man who makes a pretty mean steak himself.

The steak came with fingerling potatoes, blistered tomatoes, and confit shallots. I asked Pat about these for the purposes of this review, and he said “… my steak came with stuff?” So, uh, that part wasn’t memorable. But he was really into the steak, and that’s what counts.

Now, I know this is tantamount to sacrilege, but at this steakhouse I ordered… the chicken. See, many moons ago my girl Elizabeth made Coq au Vin, and it was AMAZING. It was also a long and time-consuming process, which is why I’ve never attempted to replicate it myself. So when I saw it on the Yachtsman menu, I had to give it a go.

Yachtsman’s Coq au Vin is moist and flavorful, but it just wasn’t wine-y enough for my tastes. This is probably a very subjective opinion, but I would’ve liked more vin to come through. In an inverse of Pat’s steak situation, it was the accompaniments that did it for me: house-made fettucine, mushrooms, cipollini onions, and pancetta. Everyone loves pancetta, obviously, but that fresh fettucine was SO GOOD. I could’ve ordered a bowl of it alone and been perfectly happy. Actually, I wonder if they’d let me do that?

A FEW EXTRAS

As is often the case at steakhouses, Yachtsman offers a bunch of its sides separately. Pat ordered a baked potato to go with his entree. It arrived unassumingly enough, looking exactly like a baked potato generally does, but Pat was really impressed with this too. It was large and fluffy and dusted with sea salt, and while the menu made no mention of this, the sour cream tasted in-house, or at the very least freshly made.

More unusual to me, however, was the offering of a pallet cleanser – with our main course we received a cherry sorbet to help our tastebuds transition from our salad to the entrees. We didn’t really need this, but I thought it was a really nice touch. Something else to set Yachtsman apart as an upscale experience.

YACHTSMAN STEAKHOUSE SERVICE

I’ve never looked into this personally, but it is my vague understanding that getting a waiter position is coveted among Cast Members, I guess because of the tips? I don’t know. Anyway, I’ve never had an unfriendly CM in any WDW restaurant.

That being said, I’ve noticed that the CMs in your fancier establishments (California Grill, say, or Topolino’s at dinner) do seem to raise the bar considerably. Not being a particularly fancy person myself, it’s hard for me to put my finger on the difference, nor do I have a ton of comparative experience outside the Disney bubble. Suffice it to say, our server was knowledgeable, personable, and… I don’t know, “eager to please” sound kinda demeaning, but yeah, that. Eager to please IN THE MOST DIGNIFIED WAY POSSIBLE, okay?

This is the sort of place where they present the wine, offer facts about the food, and pack your leftovers for you. Then they write “you are special!!” on a piece of paper, roll it into a tube, and bop you on the nose with it.*

* Obviously they do not do this. Hopefully my weird metaphor is illustrative of the vibe?

IN CONCLUSION

Yachtsman Steakhouse, I think, has two strikes against it: it is expensive, for one, and two, I actually don’t think it’s that unique. Imagineering has done a great job faithfully recreating… a seaside steakhouse. Of course, I’ve spent a lot of time in Annapolis; maybe it’s more interesting if you haven’t?

Luckily, it also has many things going for it: the location, service, and food. Yachtsman is wildly convenient to Epcot, the Studios, and anything on the Boardwalk. As noted above, both the service and food are excellent. And as far as that seaside steakhouse theme goes, I would be remiss if I didn’t note that they nailed it.

Therefore, if you’re a steak-and-potatoes person, you’re at WDW, and you’re ready to trade a more cash for higher quality, I’d say go for it! And get some wine for the road. 😀

You Won’t Be Mad at Yachtsman Steakhouse in Disney World … Probably

Restaurants all over Disney World have been reopening during the past few years.

One special spot that began welcoming guests again in August 2021 is Yachtsman Steakhouse at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. We already shared a first look at this reopened spot with its delicious-looking steak , but now it’s time to do a deep dive and give you our FULL review. Is Yachtsman a place you should visit during your Disney World trips? It’s time to find out.

We’ll start with a look at the general atmosphere of this spot. As we mentioned above, Yachtsman is located at the Yacht Club. It is an upscale steakhouse, but isn’t a spot that feels overly formal or stuffy.

You’ll head to the boat-shaped spot to check-in (or you can check-in online through the My Disney Experience app) .

Once it’s your turn to head inside, you’ll go up the steps and into the dining room.

In terms of tables here, you’ll find standard tables and chairs as well as a few booths.

The space itself is composed of one large room with smaller sections divided by half walls and pillars.

In one central area, you can look up at the high ceilings above and the unique chandelier.

On the tables here you’ll find a cloth napkin and traditional silverware.

One big thing to note is that this restaurant is connected to The Crew’s Cup Lounge . Crew’s Cup used to have some items that were unique to that spot, but right now you can get the same menu served at Yachtsman over at Crew’s Cup Lounge. So, if you’re looking to try some of the items from Yachtsman, but don’t want the full restaurant experience or can’t grab a reservation there, you can get a few eats and drinks next door.

Okay, back to Yachtsman. Another thing we want to note about this location is how different it can feel earlier in the day versus later at night. At night, it’s lovely to sit in this restaurant and look out at the pool with the lights on, while everything is calm. But, if you eat here earlier in the day, you’ll look out at the pool and see a completely different scene. Instead of a calm scene, you’ll be looking out at people running around and swimming, all while chomping down on your fine, fancy steak.

If that doesn’t bother you, then there’s no issue. But if you want that upscale feel to really be consistent throughout every aspect of the meal, you may want to dine here a bit later in the day. Just something to keep in mind!

Alright, onto the food! The food here has long been a favorite of many guests, us included. We’ve long found the steaks here to be some of the best on property. The sides are typically delicious and the steaks are usually cooked very well. So, how does the reopened restaurant deliver?

First, let’s take a look at what eats you can get. When we were there, a paper menu was provided to us.

The menu has a variety of options. There are first course items like French Onion Soup, a Steakhouse Wedge Salad, and more. There are also butcher cuts of meats, signature offerings, land and sea entrees, and sides.

And you can’t forget about dessert — there are a variety of sweet treats available here.

Each meal starts with one very important thing… bread!

Time to Get Those Carbs On

The complimentary bread basket here includes a Dark Cherry Multigrain Sourdough and Onion Pull-Apart Rolls .

The onion pull-apart rolls are killer! You could seriously come for the bread along with a side or two (and dessert) and be content.

These are served with roasted garlic and butter sprinkled with Hawaiian sea salt.

The roasted garlic is a unique accompaniment, but is wonderful and goes great with the bread served here.

Next, it’s time for appetizers. For our meal, we got 2 — the Beef Carpaccio for $16 and the Lobster Bisque for $16.

The Beef Carpaccio features Truffle Aioli, Parmesan, Fried Capers, Grilled Artichokes, and Smoked Sea Salt. It was garnished with a small radish , halved on either side. And while it wasn’t included in the menu description, our Beef Carpaccio also had pine nuts and edamame seeds .

This dish was SO good! It was salty but incredibly delicious . We really loved the grilled artichokes. They added to the saltiness (which you may enjoy or find to be too salty, depending on your tastes), but we still thought they were fantastic.

The pine nuts added a great crunch, and the parmesan and capers added a great layer of flavor (and more saltiness).

A Close-Up Look

The beef was wonderfully tender. In all honesty, it didn’t need all of the toppings — the beef was great enough on its own. But, the toppings added to the overall flavor.

Overall, this was a dish our reporter said they’d get again and again! Our only complaints? We wish there were more, particularly more artichoke pieces so we could have one piece with each rollup of meat.

If you enjoy beef carpaccio or steak tartare, then we have a feeling you’ll really enjoy this! Just keep in mind that you’ll need to like capers and salty dishes to really like this one. If raw meat is not your thing though, then this might be a pass for you.

Next, we have the Lobster Bisque. This is served with Lobster biscuits, creme fraiche, and Espelette oil.

The bisque was creamy, rich, and had a fantastically smooth texture . The seafood flavor here was strong though . If you don’t like your bisque to be really fishy tasting, then this might not be a good choice for you.

The biscuits sort of reminded us of the cheddar biscuits you get at Red Lobster.

Overall, the lobster bisque wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t anything incredibly special either. If you’re in the mood for soup, the French Onion soup is one we might recommend itself of the bisque, unless you’re a huge lobster bisque fan.

Next, it was time for an entree. For our meal, we grabbed the 8oz Filet Mignon priced at $54.

The filet is served with a Cognac Truffle Butter Sauce . Yachtsman gives a sauce recommendation for each steak, but you are able to switch that out. We kept their recommendation with the Cognac Truffle Butter sauce and it was great.

Time for Some Steak

We ordered our filet medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. Oh, and it was absolutely delicious ! The steak was buttery and crispy on the outside, with perfectly grilled edges .

The truffle butter sauce was simple, but not in a bad way. It brought out the flavors of the steak. Note that the steak wasn’t drenched in the sauce. It almost seemed like the sauce was just brushed on the top. It was just the right amount for us.

Anyone Getting Hungry Just Reading This?

We really didn’t have any complaints here! The steak was fantastic, and the sauce was great.

Another Look at the Steak

The steak is served with one accompaniment — your choice of Mashed Potatoes, Potato-Leek Gratin, House-made French Fries, Haricot Verts (a.k.a. green beans). For our side, we grabbed the Potato-Leek Gratin and we’re so glad we did!

It was our favorite of the side dishes we got during our meal (more on the other side we got in a second). The Potato-Leek Gratin was creamy and cheesy.

The combination of potato and leek was really nice , and they had a great texture — fork-tender while still having a bit of a bite to them.

We also loved the sweet oniony flavor the leeks added . If you love onions, this might be a great choice for you. And even if you don’t really love onions, we still think this side is so good you might want to give it a try. In our opinion, it’s a much better option than something more “traditional” like french fries or mashed potatoes.

For our second side dish, we grabbed the Steakhouse Side of Truffle Macaroni & Cheese for $12.50.

We’ve had the truffle mac and cheese here before , though the previous version appears to be different. This mac & cheese was very good and is the type of dish that we think could please just about anyone . It was creamy and full of cheesy goodness .

Time to Take a Bite!

There was a sprinkling of bread crumbs on top and green onion, which added a nice layer of crunch and flavor to the dish.

It was very rich. It wasn’t over-the-top when it comes to the cheese though. Instead, it was more creamy. So, if you’re looking for that awesome cheese pull to share on your Instagram, you won’t get it here. (But it’s still tasty!)

We also want to note that we think both sides could be easily shared between two people, so keep that in mind when ordering.

Finally, it’s time for dessert! During our meal, we got the Yachtsman Chocolate Cakes, which is priced at $19 . This says it serves 2, but really, we think it can serve 4!!

The dessert is made with a Dark Chocolate Mousse, Chocolate Decadence Cake, Mixed Berry Curd, Peanut Butter Crunch, and Peanut Butter Mousse . It is topped with fresh whipped cream , covered in a gorgeous chocolate shell , and features a candied peanut on top . It’s also served with chocolate sauce.

Honestly, this thing is a SHOW STOPPER . It was huge and gorgeous , and the presentation was amazing. The chocolate shell looked like paper, it was just absolutely beautiful.

A Closer Look at the Chocolate

The whipped cream was wonderfully fresh and light. It was sweet without being too sweet. The peanut butter mousse and peanut butter crunch layers in the cake were ridiculously good. If Yachtsman would make a rich candy bar with that filling, we’d buy it right up!

A Look at the Inside of the Cake

The bottom layer is where you’ll find the decadence cake. It is very rich. Grabbing a bite of that cake with the peanut butter layers is truly a bite made in heaven. The other cake layers were good, but the Chocolate Decadence Cake layer itself was just on another level.

So Much Chocolatey Goodness

The berry layer was good but totally outshined by the other amazing flavors. Also, note that there were some chocolate crispy pearls on top of the berry curd before the whipped cream.

A Look Inside

$19 for this dessert is a GREAT price considering its size and the phenomenal flavors packed inside. Seriously, this thing could feed a crowd, though you might not want to share because it’s THAT good.

We think this dessert is totally worth the price and really we wouldn’t change a thing about it. Of course, if you have a peanut allergy, this is something you’ll want to stay away from.

But, if you are a Chocolate Peanut Butter lover, do yourself a favor and just add this to your must-get Disney list!

During our most recent visit, we decided to grab the Whiskey Breeze as our drink. The drink features Jim Beam Black Extra-aged Bourbon, Cointreau, and fresh lime juice, with flavors of Guava and Mango. It’s also garnished with a quartered orange sliced.

The drink VERY tart! In fact, the citrus flavors were so strong that we really couldn’t taste the whiskey at all. We were surprised that the mango and guava flavors didn’t really add a lot of sweetness. Instead, the lime juice is what really dominated the drink in terms of flavor.

It’s Very Tart

Though the level of tartness in this drink was a shock at first, we did enjoy the drink overall.

If you like Whiskey Sours, then this will be right up your alley. But if you were wanting more of the fruity flavors described (that guava and mango) then you may not enjoy this drink.

It wasn’t what we were expecting, but it was good. You can grab the Whiskey Breeze for $14.

Nosh or Not

Make your way to Yachtsman Steakhouse if:

You love steak, beef carpaccio, and/or chocolate and peanut-butter-filled desserts;
You’re looking to have a nice relaxing dinner one night while on vacation;
You’re celebrating a special occasion — this is a great dining location to do that!

Consider grabbing a meal somewhere else if:

You’re traveling/dining with a bunch of kids — this is more of an upscale restaurant though kids are allowed and there are kids menu options, they just may not really enjoy the setting;
You’re looking for something quick or cheap;
You’re not staying anywhere near EPCOT or the Yacht Club Resort and the trip over here may be well out of your way — though we will say we think it’s worth coming to if you plan ahead for it.

Overall, we had a really great experience at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. The dessert really is a STAR, the steak was fantastic, and we really enjoyed the other items but especially the Beef Carpaccio and the Potato-Leek Gratin. Truly, the food here is top quality.

A Look at Our Items

What’s also wonderful is that right now you can get the same menu items over at Crew’s Cup Lounge, next door, without a reservation.

Our server, Kim, was great. She was very helpful and happy to recommend dishes to us, but not pushy at all. This is really a place where you can sit back, relax, and stay awhile. The food was also timed perfectly. We asked to enjoy the appetizers and bread first, then order our entree afterward and our server was great about that. Though we will note service here in the past has been very slow at times , so that’s just something to keep in mind.

Some Great Choices

Yachtsman can often be overlooked (as can many of the restaurants at Disney World’s hotels), but it definitely shouldn’t be. If you’re looking for a fantastic steak, some awesome appetizers, tasty sides, and a phenomenal dessert all in a very upscale but still relaxed environment, this could be just the place for you!

I have eaten at Yachtsman many times and will continue to eat here! The food is amazing, service is impeccable. Definitely worth the splurge!

While Yachtsman is a good steak place, let’s get serious…the best steak place is Shula’s. In fact, it is one of the top 10 restaurants I’ve been too. The steaks…phenomenal. Fresh baked sour dough bread. And, soufflé for dessert. Soufflé in Florida’s humidity…now that’s a feat.

Overlooked it as “just another steakhouse” until our last trip. Oh man was that a fantastic ribeye steak! Sadly it will be a long time before we go again.

Went here many years ago with my special needs son who also has quite a few dietary allergies. They really went above & beyond to accommodate his needs. Food was fantastic and service was outstanding, they even made him a sorbet for desert that was quite amazing. This will always be on my list for steak while at WDW.

Although I have eaten at Yachtsman and thoroughly enjoyed it, my favorite steak restaurant at WDW is LeCellier in Canada. Yachtsman also has the advantage of being walking distance from Boardwalk and others.

A long-time favourite of ours, we usually save it for our final evening and pair it with a walk over to World Showcase for the fireworks. It’s always been the perfect upscale experience to round off our vacation.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Yachtsman Steakhouse last night. We make it a tradition to have our dinner there the last night of our Disney stay. The atmosphere, the wonderful food, and the great individualized service make it a great way to end our vacation. The lobster bisque is amazing, and is easily the best we have ever tasted. We usually order the petite filet mignon, and my husband always says it is the best steak he has had since we were there last. We enjoy the bread service and garlic accompaniment to begin our meal. We have found though that if we are going to enjoy the desserts, we need to eat lightly the entire day in order to have room for them. The only thing we don’t enjoy is the green beans. They need to be cooked more.

My steak eating family of six went to this place and never again will we waste our hard earned money! Three of the six steaks were very over cooked and the sides came out cold. After a very long wait the replacement steaks came and still one of those was not up to par but at this point we were ready to get out of there. The price is ridiculous and doesn’t match the experience or quality. We are a Disney family so we understand the price tag that comes with Disney but this was too much! I’d go back to Epcot and eat a steak in Canada before I spend a dime here.

Yachtsman Steakhouse Full Review

Yachtsman Steakhouse offers a variety of amazing food including some great seafood dishes, but they really specialize in…you guessed it… Red Meat , big juicy slabs of it! In fact many put it in the conversation for best steak on property . Being a Signature Restaurant means you won’t find a cheap meal here, but I’ve always found the quality to equal the price. Also a certain “business casual” dress code is required so I wouldn’t come in a tank top and flip-flops. 😉

Yachtsman’s often gets a bit overlooked because of having to travel to the Yacht Club to eat there and is also viewed as being a bit “stuffy.” But is that the case? How does it compare with other Steak heavyweights such as Le Cellier, Shula’s and Jiko?

It’s been a few years so I wanted to do a Yachtsman Steakhouse Full Review. I’m hoping that the good experiences we’ve had there in the past continue over this time….let’s find out!

Atmosphere:

To get to Yachtsman you’ll need to find your way to the Yacht Club Resort and make your way out to the back by the pool. You can either take transportation to Epcot, Hollywood Studios or one of the other Epcot Resorts like the Boardwalk Resort, Beach Club or Swan and Dolphin. To make it easy I would recommend doing either Epcot or Hollywood Studios the same day and then just either walk over to the Yacht Club Resort or take a Boat from the park.

If your coming from along the waterside of the resort then eventually you will run into the Back Entrance of the Yacht Club here:

The first thing you see when you walk in is the Meat Dry Aging Room where the butchers cut and prepare the steaks:

All the meat at the Yachtsman Steakhouse is cut in-house , you you know you’re getting a fresh quality steak, not something that’s been prepackaged.

If you look to the left into the Bar , you’ll start to get more of a feel for the decor. Pine wood beams line the high ceiling, along with beautiful chandeliers:

A cool feature that’s a part of many upscale Disney restaurants is the Open-Kitchen:

Turn right and you’ll find the entrance to the Main Dining Hall:

Some people complain about the decor, they even find it stuffy or snobbish. Personally I love the natural wood and soft tones you find throughout. It’s supposed to be reminiscent of a sea-faring New England town, and that’s exactly what it delivers. You’re not going to be blown away by the decor, like in a place like Moritmoto’s, but that’s ok because that’s not the focal point here, it’s the food.

The Main Dining Room is a large and open space. Again more rich colors from the wood:

The lighting in here is excellent, especially when the sun is still out due to the large windows overlooking the Pool at Stormalong Bay. That’s refreshing as at some steakhouses you practically have to bring a flashlight with you in order to see:

This is the back dining room and probably the most intimate room at Yachtsman. If you are looking for more quiet and privacy ask for here:

Ok, we’re done looking around and we’re ready for the food!

As I already mentioned we came here for Steak, and lots of it, as that’s obviously the specialty of the house. All the beef is high-quality and grain-fed which is cut and aged in-house and prepared on an oak-fired grill in the open kitchen. That results in some of the tastiest steak anywhere in Walt Disney World. If your wallet is feeling full and you want a dining experience you’ll never forget, then go for the 32 oz Porterhouse for Two or the 100% Japanese Wagyu Beef Strip Loin , they cost $119 and $125 respectively, but they will change your life!

Besides steak Yachtsman offers some other delicious options including F resh Seafood like Lobster, Salmon and Shrimp. Expect to find typical Steakhouse appetizers and sides like Soups and Salads, Mushrooms, Creamed Spinach and Truffle Mac and Cheese.

Like many Disney restaurants, the menu tends to have some staples you can find year-round and then some options that are seasonal, so if you don’t find exactly the same things we had during our visit you can probably find something similar or even better when you go!

Look at these beauties…freshly cut and dry-aged. It’s going to be so hard to choose….

That 21 Day Dry-aged Kansas City Strip looks amazing:

To start off our meal the right way we ordered a bottle of Robert Mondavi Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 , ok really 2 bottles but who’s counting? The wine itself was excellent, balanced with a great structure and perfect for…steak!

They first brought us out our complimentary Bread Basket , this thing was amazing!

The first and yummiest bread was the Onion Brioche-style rolls that were out of this world! They were pull-apart and had a light, airy texture inside that was incredible! Look at that inside which I had slathered with butter:

Besides that there were also more traditional Sourdough Rolls that were also delicious:

The Butter Plate here was something special because not only did it have fresh butter with Coarse Sea Salt on top, but each plate also had a humongous Roasted Garlic Clove as well! It was soooo good and my wife was soooo mad at me for eating it! 😉

Next we had a Caesar Salad ($12) with Romaine Lettuce, Parmigiano Reggiano, Coppa Secca and Focaccia Crouton. Really is there any other type of salad to be had??

I’m a self-proclaimed expert on Caesar Salads and have eaten my share, but this thing was no joke! It was a very big portion, even enough to share if you’re into that sort of thing. The lettuce was really fresh and crisp and the Parmigiano was sliced super thin so you could really taste the sharpness of the flavors. The dressing is what usually makes the Caesar salad and this one was awesome!! It’s made in house and wasn’t goopy or sweet.

Next was the French Onion Soup ($12) which had a Sourdough Crouton and was covered in Gruyere Cheese:

Since it was nearly impossible to stand within 10 feet of us now after 2 courses a piece with either garlic or onion in them we decided to change it up. We went with the Lobster Bisque ($13) which is made with fresh Maine Lobster, Creme Fraiche, fine herbs and lemon:

We also tried the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail ($19) which had a bit of Old Bay sprinkled on and came with lemon and a homemade cocktail sauce:

Get ready to get your carnivore on, because we’ve made our choices of Entrees and they are sent off to the kitchen to be cooked over that Oak-fired Grill:

First up was the 12oz New York Strip Steak ($49) with a Peppercorn Brandy Sauce and Potato Gratin:

Next was the 10oz Black Angus Filet Mignon ($54) with Mashed Potatoes and a Cabernet Wine Sauce:

Lastly was they one I was really anticipating, the 16oz Prime Rib Eye Steak ($54) covered in Blue Cheese Butter and served with a Brioche and Bone Marrow :

This thing is what dreams are made of! The very first bite my wife said it’s the best steak she’s ever had:

Being rib-eye this thing was bursting with flavor, then covered in blue cheese butter it made everything so rich and juicy and brought it to even another level of amazingness. It was a giant piece of meat that we ended up splitting between the two of us:

It was just the right tenderness and melted right in your mouth, especially in the middle. Just overall awesome and one of the best steaks I’ve ever had!

It was accompanied with Bone Marrow and a Brioche . Now maybe the idea of sucking marrow from a cow’s bone doesn’t exactly get your appetite going, but once you try it, it will! The Italian name is Osso Buco and it’s a traditional dish from Milan and my wife goes absolutely crazy for it. Being the expert she said it compared well to others she’s had before and was very succulent inside.

Lastly we got an order of Truffle Macaroni and Cheese ($12) , because obviously till that point we were really having a light meal! It was made from Orecchiette Pasta (which means “little ears”), Reypenaer cheese and of course truffles:

There were also a bit of crisped stringy onions on top which added a nice texture. The pasta was creamy and cheesy but you really have to like truffles to like this mac and cheese, the flavor is very strong. My brother-in-law was crazy about it, he thought it was really unreal. I personally thought the taste was a bit too strong, so it depends on tastes.

Of course even though at this point I was so stuffed that I needed to be rolled out of the restaurant, I wouldn’t leave you without at least a taste of Dessert. I was the only one brave enough to confront it! I got the Lemon Blueberry Cheesecake ($10) with Lemon Curd and Blueberry Crumble:

Lastly, one thing I haven’t touched on was the service. The service here was some of the best I’ve ever had at any restaurant ANYWHERE . We had 2 waiters assigned to our table all night as one was in training and the other was observing but helping him. At first I thought we were in trouble because of having a waiter-in-training, but he blew us away! He knew everything, literally everything about the menu and every recommendation he made to us turned out to be true. I wish I remembered his name because I would highly recommend him to you. This is what signature dining service should be like!

Overall we had a wonderful experience at the Yachtsman Steakhouse, it was even better than the last time we came. The atmosphere won’t blow you away, but it’s warm, clean, it isn’t loud and is a nice place if you are looking for a quiet romantic meal. The food was of excellent quality, the appetizers like Caesar Salad, French Onion Soup and the Lobster Bisque were all outstanding . The Steaks themselves were unbelievable and do live up to the reputation as being one of the best 2 or 3 steakhouses on property. Where exactly? I’ll have to think about it and make a list soon, but Yachtsman is right up there.

I found the prices to be expensive, but in-line with other Disney Signature Restaurants. If you are a carnivore like me then you will appreciate it and Yachtsman has to be on your list of must-try restaurants in Walt Disney World. It’s a must do for sure if you are staying at one of the Epcot Resorts as it’s within walking distance from them, and it makes a great date-night location without the kids or for a special occasion. Try it, you won’t be disappointed!

Yachtsman Steakhouse is a Dinner only restaurant and is open from roughly 5:00pm – 9:30pm Daily . The Disney Dining Plan is also accepted, it is a 2 Disney Dining Credit Signature Restaurant. Reservations can be made via the Disney World website or by calling (407) WDW-DINE .

I just had that same Caesar's Salad and a prime rib end-cut that was bigger than my head just two weeks ago. I've been going there since opening in 1990 and I couldn't have written a more detailed and accurate assessment of the Yachtsmen than you did. Love that place.

A special touch that genuinely impressed me. As an appetizer, Pat ordered the steakhouse wedge salad: candied Bacon, farmhouse eggs, radish, and smokey blue cheese vinaigrette. The salad itself was crisp and fresh, but we agreed the real standout with the candied bacon. It was thick and full of umami flavor.
