Crewed pleasure yacht charter for a sailing cruise in the Philippines to remember, the full list is here. Crewed yacht charter is available in a number of locations around the country. The range of sailing yachts available for a sailing cruise varies considerably and the facilities may be very different - everything from a Hobie beach catamaran to a 40-plus foot cruising catamaran with full catering and water-toys.

A note on bareboat charter: bareboat charter for anything other than a sports-boat (think Hobie 16) is almost non existent. The reason is that under current Philippine regulations the skipper in-charge of a yacht must either, be the owner or, must hold a Philippine Captain 1 license (or higher rating) and only a Filipino can appply for such a license. If the in-charge does not hold a Captain License then the insurance will be invalidated and that is why no yacht owner will agree to bareboat charter.

Most sailing cruise yachts available for crewed yacht charter are found in the area of Puerto Galera, Subic Bay, Coron / Busuanga and Boracay. However, most of these sailing yachts can be delivered to another location to begin a yacht charter.

If you are flying into the country to start your Philippines sailing cruise yacht charter then you need to know that the main airline hubs are located in Metro Manila and Cebu and Davao. There are also secondary international airports at Puerto Princesa, Iloilo, Kalibo and Laoag.

The three main domestic airlines are: Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific and Air Asia Philippines. In addition, some of the smaller airports are serviced by Air Swift, Sunlight Air and SkyJet Airlines. AirTrav also provide seaplane services from Metro Manila to a few places that have no airports.

Sailing Catamaran - Naya

Available for crewed charter to/from anywhere. Scheduled charters available from Batangas to: Boracay, Puerto Galera and Romblon. Sailing catamaran Naya is a Wharram 46, built 2007; refurbished specifically for yacht charter 2013. Plenty of deck space for entertaining and relaxing.

• Accommodation: three, private double berths plus a pilot double berth
• Catering: galley with LPG burners, freezer and cool boxes
• Extra facilities: scuba tank refilling station aboard plus up to 12 scuba tanks; charging for all your personal communications gadgets (with back-up genset); and, WiFi internet (where terrestrial signal available).

She is used for sail training lessons at the Puerto Galera Yacht Club; Guinevere II is available for crewed charter whenever there are no scheduled sailing lessons.

The Hobie Getaway is an ideal small boat rental for groups of up to six people, to explore the islands close to Romblon (Alad, Bangug,Cobrador, Lugbung etc.) and possibly to sail as far as Sibuyan and Banton islands. To rent the Hobie Getaway bareboat for extended sailing adventures and island exploration, you and your crew will be expected to prove your seamanship in advance.

• Accommodation: double berth forepeak, double quarter berth, two cabin berths & two pilot berths
• Catering: galley with LPG burners & oven, and icebox
• Home port: Subic Bay - 3 hours from Manila NAIA airport or 1 hour from Clark DMIA; can be delivered Manila, Puerto Galera etc.

Galveston, Lake Conroe among the most popular boating cities in Texas, boat rental service says

T he Houston area is home to some of the best places to go boating in Texs Lake Conroe and Galveston are ranked among the top five of the most popular boating cities in the state, according to  data from the boat rental service Getmyboat.com.

Lake Conroe ranks fourth while Galveston ranks fifth in the Getmyboat rankings with Austin slotting in at No. 1.

Getmyboat used data from its boat rental service to calibrate its rankings. That includes locations where boats are registered, number of rentals and length of the rentals.

The list's top 10 are primarily towns in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, but four of the top five areas are outside of North Texas. In addition to Austin at No. 1, Canyon Lake in Hill Country comes in at No. 2.

The average hourly rate to rent a boat in Lake Conroe is $114, with an average trip price of $482 for the service. As for Galveston, it's only $107 per hour with an average price of $325.
