Motor Yacht

Rhino is a custom motor yacht launched in 1998 by Admiral Yachts and most recently refitted in 2017.

Headed by Founder & Chairman Giovanni Costantino, The Italian Sea Group is one of the biggest conglomerate of the world for constructions up to 200 m, having built 575 ships and yachts since 1942.

Rhino measures 46.94 metres in length, with a max draft of 1.98 metres and a beam of 9.15 metres. She has a gross tonnage of 492 tonnes.

Rhino has a GRP hull with a GRP superstructure.

Donald Starkey has been designing some of the world’s finest yachts since 1989 and has won to date, no less than 26 Design Awards for his work. Unique and timeless elegance are synonymous with the design from this renowned studio.

Rhino also features naval architecture by Lou Codega.

Her interior is styled by design house Donald Starkey and she was completed in 1998. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Donald Starkey and she was last refitted in 2022.

Star Diamond is built with a GRP hull and GRP superstructure, with teak decks. Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (3512 DITA) 1,650hp engines running at 1600rpm, she comfortably cruises at 17 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 18 knots with a range of up to 3,600 nautical miles from her 47,763 litre fuel tanks at 12 knots. An advanced stabilisation system on board promises exceptional comfort levels at anchor or on any voyage. Her water tanks store around 1,850 Gallons of fresh water. She was built to RINA (Registro Italiano Navale) classification society rules.

More and more luxury yachts can say that they’ve starred briefly in films these days, but few can boast an entire series dedicated to that antics on board like charter yacht RHINO – better known under the name ‘OHANA’ – in the second series of ‘ Below Deck ‘. She is currently available for charter in the Bahamas . 

Luxury yacht RHINO with a water slide

Built in 1998, this classic 47m/154ft Admiral superyacht has been fastidiously maintained by her Owners over the years, keeping her in tip-top shape. Her last comprehensive refit in 2014 got her looking her best before filming the Second Series of Below Deck from August until November that same year. But there’s more than just appearances with motor yacht RHINO; find out about what attracted – and still attracts – the jet set to her.

The Interiors

Donald Starkey is a renowned name in the yachting industry, and when it comes to luxury yacht RHINO he produced both the interiors and the exterior styling. For the interiors, there is a combination of beautiful traditional surroundings within the main deck salon and some of the guest cabins, while the sky lounge and Master suite are contemporary and bright, contrasting jovial artwork with white environs.

The formal dining area is rich in detail, drawing guests into an intimate atmosphere for memorable meals with cherished ones around two circular table. The family can nestle into the plush sofas in the main salon, or head up to the skylounge for the gaming table, after-dinner drinks at the wet bar and a film on the massive widescreen TV.

M/Y RHINO is equipped with top-notch entertainment systems, including a Kaleidescape movie server that offers more than 300 films in unparalleled audio and video quality. iPod docking stations feature throughout the bedrooms and shared guest spaces for personalised entertainment, and an Xbox with Kinect will keep younger individuals engaged while cruising between destinations.

The engineering is also impressive and superyacht RHINO cruises at 13 knots with a top speed of 16.5 knots. She has a transatlantic range of 3,500 nautical miles, meaning that there’s no need to stop to refuel while cruising through the Mediterranean or the remote Caribbean islands.

The Exteriors

There is ample deck space onboard for hosting dockside parties, and the sundeck will come into its own with the sunbed-surrounded raised Jacuzzi and plentiful seating, with one round after another of sensational cocktails produced by the nearby wet bar. A barbeque grill lets guests remain outside to enjoy the elements as they savour freshly caught fare – some treats that might even have been caught by the guests themselves.

Breakfast ready for the guests to arrive

Below, the shaded upper deck has a more sedate atmosphere yet is no less desirable and acts as a great extension to the skylounge with a widescreen TV to keep up with the latest sports. A grand alfresco dining table will beckon guests outside for meals by candlelight, and along the stern, a circular table and curving sofa create a space for family games and drinks.

The Accommodation

There are five beautiful en-suite cabins to sleep up to 10 guests onboard, consisting of a Master suite, 2 double cabins and 2 twin cabins that can be converted to doubles as required.

Master suite

The Master Suite is the most enviable bedroom on board, finished in pristine white from floor to ceiling with a king-sized bed for a couple to lay their weary heads after celebrations long into the starry nights. Guests having trouble drifting off can watch a film on the widescreen TV, or head into the adjacent lounge for work and study or TV entertainment without disturbing the other occupant. The en-suite bathroom has a dressing table, his-and-hers sinks, a shower and a spa pool tub.

The double cabins have queen-sized beds and a more classic ambience with rich wooden panelling. The twin cabins are similar styles and have the same proportions, with TV entertainment and en-suite bathrooms to ensure guest privacy.

The Water Toys

As one might expect from a prestigious superyacht, M/Y RHINO has a long list of water toys designed for a range of groups, from multi-generational families to adventurous young couples wanting to live life up in the sunshine.

Lucky guests have at their disposal:

• 2 x Stand-Up Paddleboards
• a waterslide
• snorkelling equipment

• inflatable and towable toys

All of this will be set up and put away by the expert crew, leaving guests more time to socialise and take in the destination. What’s more, motor yacht RHINO is an Approved RYA Water Sports Centre, so guests can earn a jet ski licence during their time on board.

Riva motor yacht Rhino A sold

The 26.4 metre Riva motor yacht Rhino A , listed for sale by Tom Barnes at Bluewater , has been sold with the buyer introduced by Michel Chryssicopoulos of IYC .

Built in GRP by Italian yard Riva with external and interior design by Officina Italiana Design , she was delivered in 2011 as a Riva Domino model. An interior in Canaletto walnut with fine leathers and fabrics accommodates eight guests in four cabins consisting of a full-beam master suite, VIP suite, a double and a twin, all with entertainment centres, flatscreen Samsung television sets and en-suite bathroom facilities. In addition, there are quarters for three crew.

The saloon offers comfortable seating on Louis de Portere settees and armchairs and has an entertainment centre including a 46-inch Samsung television screen and a Bose stereo surround sound system. Forward is a dining area with seating for eight guests along with storage for glassware, china and silver.

The aft deck is substantial, offering seating on a C-shaped settee and folding chairs along with a table and small fridge, creating the perfect venue for relaxed al fresco entertaining and dining. Meanwhile, the sun deck offers yet more outdoor living, featuring built-in C-shaped seating, dining tables, sun pads and sun loungers. For complete sunbathing privacy, the foredeck has a dinette and a built-in settee. Twin 2,435hp MTU diesel engines power her to an exhilarating top speed of 38 knots while she cruises comfortably at 34 knots.

The 62-foot (18.9m) Nordhavn RHINO 1 is an exceptional classic trawler styled long-range motor yacht.  This yacht was built in 1999 and has been well-maintained and was brought to current standards with a 2019/2020 refit at Lauderdale Marine Center.

RHINO 1’s interior offers the comforts of home, allowing you to feel relaxed while onboard. She showcases a spacious salon with a large U-shaped settee starboard with a varnished teak table and a plush lounge chair with a matching ottoman to port. Adjacent to the salon, separated by a large countertop bar, is a well-equipped galley. This arrangement allows for effortless entertaining and serving meals. The Nordhavn’s galley features three new Sub-Zero stainless-steel refrigerators, a custom pantry with locking slide-out storage compartments and a new Bosh oven and dishwasher.

The long-range motor yacht also has a spacious pilothouse with a watch berth and bathroom. RHINO 1’s helm features new electronics. The yacht is equipped with a bow and stern thruster for easy docking. Additionally, the Nordhavn yacht has Niad stabilizers to ensure guest comfort aboard. She boasts long-range capabilities allowing you to cruise extensively as your heart desires. RHINO 1cruises at a speed of 10 knots.

This Nordhavn 62 offers accommodations for six guests in the comfort of three well-appointed staterooms. RHINO 1’s master stateroom is located in the center of the yacht to ensure the utmost comfort and a good night’s sleep. The stateroom features an island queen bed and an en-suite bath with a shower stall. The yacht’s two guest staterooms include a double-bed stateroom and an over/under bunked stateroom. These two guest staterooms share a bathroom. Additionally, the long-range motor yacht RHINO 1 has a crew stateroom forward of the guest staterooms with a double bed and bath.

RHINO 1 has a large foredeck with an oversized crane that perfectly stores the yacht’s tender and allows for easy deployment.

Three stateroom plus crew cabin. A delightful Raised Pilothouse with helm chair, U-shaped seating and sea berth. Head on pilothouse and door to bridge.  Staircase down the large salon and adjacent Galley.  The Master stateroom with queen bed, onsite head with stall shower is located in the center of the yacht with two guest staterooms (one queen and one upper/lower) forward.  Crew quarters are forward of the guest staterooms.

Galley is very spacious, with long open counter with seating on the salon side, new Sub Zero refrigeration, custom pantry with slide out encased drawers, new Bosch dishwasher, four burner stove with oven and great counter space for the chef.

‘Total Disgrace’: Anger, Frustration as Mass Heating Failures Across Russia Leave Thousands in the Cold

P ODOLSK, Moscow region – Residents throughout Russia affected by unprecedented winter heating outages in recent days have expressed their frustration and urged local authorities to restore heating in their homes.

In Podolsk, a town some 30 kilometers south of the capital Moscow, at least 149,000 residents — nearly half of its population — were left without heating when a heating main burst at a nearby private ammunition plant.

“It’s a total disgrace. There is no heating and no hot water. We have to sleep in sleeping bags,” Yuri, a local resident, told The Moscow Times.

“I have no words to describe how bad the situation is," said Yuri, who declined to provide his surname. "We have had no heating for almost six days."

Heating issues have affected residents in the Moscow region, where temperatures have plunged to as low as minus 20 degrees Celsius in the past week, as well as people in the Far East Primorye region , the cities of Moscow and St. Petersburg , Penza , the southern Voronezh and Volgograd regions and more.

In the Tver region, a group of residents filmed an appeal to President Vladimir Putin, saying that they “are freezing from the cold” in the village of Novozavidovsky.

“We're literally being killed by the cold,” a woman in the video said, adding that they have been sending requests to local authorities since September after their houses were connected to a boiler room whose power was reportedly insufficient.

“This is some kind of torture and extermination of the population 100 kilometers from Moscow,” she added.

Residents of the Moscow region town of Elektrostal lit a fire in the street to draw the authorities’ attention to the heating problem.

“It’s impossible to stay in our houses. We're freezing!” a group of women in the video said.

Suffering from subzero temperatures, residents are placing the blame on local authorities and utility services for failing to take necessary precautions and not taking action to resolve the situation.

“We are sending complaints everywhere but no one listens to us. We have portable heaters working in every room, but the temperature inside is still 10 degrees Celsius,” Yelena from Podolsk said.

“There is a clinic and a hospital, as well as kindergartens, where there is no heating. And we have no answers, no assistance, no explanation,” Yelena added.

Podolsk authorities opened temporary heating centers and declared a state of emergency.

Local authorities linked the heating problems to the fact that the town is heated by a boiler plant owned by the Klimovsk Specialized Ammunition Plant, a private ammunition factory and one of the largest weapon cartridge production enterprises in the country.

“The facility is under tight security conditions, which limits our ability to oversee winter preparations,” the Moscow region’s Vice Governor Yevgeny Khromushin said last week. “We were unaware of the problem for nearly a day.”

An unidentified Moscow region official and two senior executives at the plant were arrested on suspicion of providing unsafe services, Russia’s Investigative Committee, which probes major crimes, said in a statement Tuesday.

Investigators said that Podolsk’s deputy mayor was accused of misusing authority by issuing a readiness certificate for the boiler house at the plant.

In the neighboring Tver region, the authorities opened a criminal case over the laundering of over 84 million rubles ($938,993) in heating bills paid by residents, the Astra Telegram channel reported this week, citing unidentified sources. According to investigators, the heads of the local water intake and boiler house misappropriated the heating payments for personal use.

Reacting to the heating failures, Putin on Tuesday asked Emergency Situations Minister Alexander Kurenkov to provide heat and electricity to the affected residents.

The outages appear to be the latest effect of several decades of crumbling infrastructure in Russia which have been linked to endemic corruption and mismanagement.

The overall decay of Russia's municipal infrastructure surpassed 70% in 2022, the pro-Kremlin newspaper Izvestia reported .

According to Sergei Pakhomov, head of the State Duma’s Construction, Housing and Utilities Committee, water pipes that were 90 years old or even older were still in use as recently as two years ago in some cases.

Housing, utilities and communal services are a common source of problems for Russians during the winter.

In St. Petersburg, residents regularly complain about extensive ice coverage on city streets and sidewalks, with many people ending up in the hospital over the years due to slipping and falling accidents.

In the Siberian republic of Khakassia, two villages were left without electricity last month due to apparent issues with outdated communication systems.

In the winter of 2020, five people in the Perm region were killed after a pipe burst.

When asked about the latest heating outages, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov acknowledged the problems and linked them to poor municipal infrastructure, saying that people “had to endure a lot of inconvenience in the cold and without electricity.”

"Despite all the titanic efforts to update all housing and communal services systems, there's still a certain part that remains considerably deteriorated. These programs will continue, but it is impossible to update all pipes and all housing and communal services systems in 10-15 years,” Peskov said.

As for now, residents affected by heating issues appear to lack optimism that the problems will be solved efficiently.

"It's been a week since we've had heating, and the temperature in my apartment is around 11 degrees Celsius,” Podolsk resident Lidiya told The Moscow Times.

“Unfortunately, no one knows when it will be repaired,” she added.
