Disney Friendship Boats Guide

In this article, we discuss the Friendship Boats at Walt Disney World. We’ll look at their routes, hours of operation, and a few tips for utilizing the boat service.

Disney Friendship Boats travel two different routes at the Walt Disney World Resort. They are one of the most pleasant forms of Disney transportation available.

One set of Friendship Boats services the Epcot Resort Area . This route takes guests between Hollywood Studios and Epcot. It stops at the resorts in between.

Another set of Friendship Boats travels across the World Showcase Lagoon at Epcot. This route takes guests between the World Showcase Plaza and docks at the Morroco Pavilion.

Below, we’ll go over how best to use the Disney Friendship Boat service to your advantage. Those staying in the immediate area or with plans to park hop between Epcot and Hollywood Studios will likely want to use the boat service.

Disney Friendship Boats Route

We’ll first look at the Friendship Boats that travel between Epcot and Hollywood Studios. These boats travel in a specific order, stopping at each area resort between the two parks.

Once you get their route down pat, you’ll have a good idea of how to use this form of transportation. During the busier portions of the day, you can expect to see two to three Friendship boats running through the area.

One route starts at Epcot and travels to Hollywood Studios. Vice versa, another route begins at Hollywood Studios and ends at Epcot. So they will have three resort stops each way.

These boats will continually pass each other along the waterway throughout the day. Each boat follows the same route. At the end of each route, they change directions and head back the opposite way.

Here is the Friendship Boat route for the Epcot Resort Area.

Friendship Boat Route from Hollywood Studios to Epcot:

• Disney’s Hollywood Studios
• Swan and Dolphin Hotel (includes Swan Reserve)
• Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort (One Stop)
• Disney’s Boardwalk Inn

Friendship Boat Route from Epcot to Hollywood Studios:

• Disney’s Beach and Yacht Club (One Stop)

Friendship Boat Schedule (Hours)

Per Disney’s website, hours of operation vary subject to water and weather conditions . At the time of this update, Disney’s Friendship Boats begin running in the Epcot Resorts area around 7:00 a.m. and continue until about one hour after the parks close.

With that said, we recommend checking the hours of operation for the boat service after you arrive at the hotel. Hours fluctuate based on the park’s opening hours and should be posted at your hotel, along with hours for other transportation options.

Special Circumstances:

We recently stayed at Disney’s Yacht Club and attended After Hours at Disney’s Hollywood Studios , where the park remained open until approximately 12:30 a.m. Since this was a special ticketed event, the Friendship Boats closed at their regular time.

Since the boats were not available, guests in the Epcot Resorts Area could walk or take a bus back to their resorts. So, if you are staying in the area with plans to attend After Hours at Epcot or Hollywood Studios (or a similar event), know that the Friendship Boats might not be available afterward.

Friendship Boats Accessibility

Most transportation options at Disney World accommodate guests with accessibility needs. Disney provides an overview of each form of transportation on their website. Learn More:  Transportation and Mobility Disabilities at Disney World

Per Disney, “Watercraft access varies depending on the type of watercraft and the existing water levels and conditions. Please contact a Disney Cast Member at the watercraft dock for information and assistance.”

Resorts with Disney Friendship Boats

Guests of the following resorts have immediate access to the Disney Friendship Boat service:

• Disney’s Yacht Club Resort
• Disney’s Beach Club Resort
• Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Resort
• Walt Disney World Swan Reserve

As noted above, the Friendship Boats run in two directions. Therefore, when boarding a boat from your resort’s dock, you’ll want to be careful to get in the correct line.

It is not uncommon for two boats to dock simultaneously at any of the resorts. Therefore, each resort dock has two sides.

Friendship Launch at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club

Disney’s Beach and Yacht Club guests share a boat dock at the Yacht Club’s lighthouse. It’s a reasonably large area. A sign indicates where guests should line up on each side of the lighthouse.

In the picture below, you can see a boat docked at the Yacht Club. At each stop, guests onboard are allowed to disembark. Then, guests waiting can board the vessel.

The boat has arrived from the Swan and Dolphin Hotels and will travel to Disney’s Boardwalk next. After that, it will continue to Epcot.

Guests going to Epcot or the Boardwalk will line up on the left-hand side. When the boat leaves, it will stop at the Boardwalk before Epcot.

Note: Most guests staying at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club will want to walk to Epcot. The walk ranges from 5-10 minutes and will take less time than the boat service.

So, if you’re leaving the Beach or Yacht Club and going to Disney’s Boardwalk, you’ll want to take the Epcot Friendship Boat. This route is an excellent alternative for walking to Disney’s Boardwalk.

For instance, if you’re dressed up for dinner, you might not want to work up a sweat by walking to the restaurant. Instead, you can take the boat and then enjoy a casual stroll around Crescent Lake on your way back in the evening.

Boardwalk Inn Boat Dock (Promenade Pier)

Our next stop along the Friendship Boat route is Promenade Pier at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn. Below is a look at the boat dock during the evening. It sits in the center of the Boardwalk.

This boat dock works similarly to the one at Disney’s Yacht Club. Make sure to get in line on the right side to reach your next destination.

From the left side of the dock, you’ll travel in the following order:

• Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club (one stop)
• Disney’s Swan and Dolphin (includes Swan Reserve)

From the right side of the dock, you’ll travel directly to Epcot. There are no other stops along this route.

Swan and Dolphin Hotels Boat Dock

Next, we’ll look at the Friendship Boat dock at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resorts, including the Swan Reserve. These resorts are unique because Disney doesn’t own or operate them.

This boat dock sits on a walkway between the Swan and Dolphin Hotels. Guests of the Swan Reserve will have to walk over to access the Friendship Boat service.

The right side goes directly to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Guests headed to Epcot or the other resorts will board on the left side. Stops are in this order:

Tip: If you’re returning from Hollywood Studios and going to the Boardwalk Inn, you can exit at the Swan and Dolphin. You will have to walk over the bridge to the Boardwalk, but it’s only a five-minute walk at the most. This will eliminate having to stop at the Yacht and Beach Club next and save you approximately 10-15 minutes of travel time.

Friendship Boat Dock at Hollywood Studios

After leaving the Swan and Dolphin Resort, our Friendship Boat continues to its last stop at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This Friendship Boat will stop at Hollywood Studios to unload and reload before returning in the opposite direction.

Friendship Boats at Epcot

Last, we’ll examine the Friendship Boat dock at Epcot’s International Gateway. This boat dock is only a few short steps from the back entrance to the park. One of the great things about this location is that it rarely has long lines to enter the park.

The International Gateway is shared among guests of the Epcot Resorts or those arriving from the Skyliner Resorts. In addition, guests park hopping between Hollywood Studios and Epcot also use this entrance.

Alternatives to the Friendship Boats

If the Friendship Boats are unavailable or you don’t want to wait, there is a walking path between Hollywood Studios and Epcot. This path will pass by most of the resorts on the way.

When you reach the Boardwalk, you can continue to Epcot via the Boardwalk side or the Beach and Yacht Club side. At this point, the Swan and Dolphin Hotels will be to the immediate left.

Additionally, guests can take the Skyliner from Epcot to Hollywood Studios or vice versa. We discuss that route in detail in a separate article. However, note you will altogether bypass the Epcot Resorts when taking this route.

Disney Friendship Boats in Epcot

In addition to the boats in the Epcot Resorts Area, you will find a separate Friendship Boat transportation option within Epcot. These boats travel from the World Showcase Plaza across the World Showcase Lagoon and then to the Morocco Pavilion .

Unfortunately, these boats won’t save you much time unless you were to happen upon one that’s departing. However, they will save you steps.

The only drawback is that you’ll miss touring a few countries in the World Showcase along the way. But if you find yourself in need of this service, by all means, take advantage of it.

You’ll want to remember that Epcot has a fireworks show on the lagoon each evening. On a standard schedule, these boats typically begin running around 11:00 a.m., and the last boat departs across the lagoon at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Final Thoughts on Disney’s Friendship Boats

Disney’s Friendship Boats are a great way to get around the Epcot Resorts area. They are an instrumental form of transportation if you aren’t familiar with the area or are a first-time visitor.

While they aren’t the fastest transportation, the boats provide a solution for those traveling with small children or anyone not up for a long walk between the parks and resorts.

Knowing your transportation options at Walt Disney World will benefit your vacation tremendously. We hope this guide gave you a base knowledge of how, when, and why you might want to use Disney’s Friendship Boats.

Ultimate Guide to Hollywood Studios Transportation in Disney World

No matter how many Genie+ reservations , Individual Lightning Lanes , and Advanced Dining Reservations you make, one misstep can derail your whole perfect plan…

… Disney transportation . Yep, if you haven’t mastered the exact science, neigh, dare we say art, to navigating Disney transportation, then you might be standing at a Disney bus stop watching the minutes tick by in your Disney vacation and months of planning slowly unravel. But not to worry, we’re here to help with our Ultimate Guide to Disney Transportation … the Hollywood Studios edition.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is near the southern point of Disney World property, but is still fairly centrally located as far as proximity in terms of EPCOT and Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and a good click north of EPSN Wide World World of Sports, which literally sits on the southern border of Disney property line. Its central location means there are a variety of transportation options available for guests to use who wish to spend the day at this park, but choosing the right one may take a bit of finesse.

So, what are our options? Let’s look at ALL of the ways guests can get to and from Hollywood Studios, after all, it wouldn’t be an “ultimate” if we didn’t cover it all.

Disney’s Skyliner

Disney boat transportation, resort walkways, guest vehicle/parking, taxi & rideshare, minnie vans.

So, let’s analyze the “free” transportation options first. Yes, yes, we put free in quotation marks because we know that it is not really free, just that the price of these options are included in what you pay to stay at a Disney Resort or visit the Disney Parks. But ultimately, if you utilize one of these options, you won’t have to pay anything additional or account for any tipping expectations.

Disney Busses

The Resort Buses are the most ubiquitous free mode of transportation to navigate around Disney World . The bus system connects Disney resorts to all the parks, water parks, and even Disney Springs.

Guests staying at Disney Resorts have access to the busses, which run about every 20 minutes. The bus service begins about 45 minutes prior to park opening and runs continuously throughout the day until about one hour after park closing. Use of the bus system is not limited to just resort guests, non-resort guests can also utilize the bus (and other transportation options, for that matter) to traverse Disney property and destinations.

Likewise, many Good Neighbor Hotels and other non-Disney hotels also provide theme park shuttles that drop guests off at the theme parks, but those shuttles tend to run at lower frequencies.

Since bus schedules can be unpredictable and are subject to the traffic on the roads, the wait times can vary. And during those peak times (when parks first open and right after the nighttime show/fireworks), the lines for the busses can get daunting. The capacity of a Disney Bus is about 112 people, but electronic conveyance vehicles (ECVs) and strollers may take up some of that space as well. So, you may find yourself waiting through several bus loads before getting your chance to board and depart.

Busses are a tried and true option, and really, did you even visit Disney World if you didn’t ride a Disney Bus at least once? But, luckily, it’s not the only transportation option at Hollywood Studios.

Disney’s newest method of transportation has quickly become a favorite among Disney visitors.  Not subject to road traffic, this continually moving option has become an iconic visual on the Disney landscape and connects four Disney resorts and two Disney theme parks along its route.

The Hollywood Studios Skyliner station is just next to the Bus Stop terminal, at the entrance of the park. This is both good and bad news as it means that during those peak times around park opening and park closing, most guests are heading in the same direction, which can create bottlenecks as the universal path becomes connected with guests, strollers, and ECVs.

The Skyliner connects Hollywood Studios and EPCOT along with stops at four Disney resorts, Caribbean Beach Resort , Riviera Resort , Pop Century , and Art of Animation .

Unless there is inclement weather, the Skyliner is typically a quick and easy way of getting to or from Hollywood Studios and any of these destinations.  But it’s not completely worry-free. Those who have a fear of heights may want to keep their feet on the ground. There have been a few little hiccups with Skyliner jams and delays that have impacted guests, though few and far between, it’s not completely unheard of. And finally, even though it is a continual loading process, there are bottlenecks when parks close and at the transfer juncture at Caribbean Beach when those Skyliner lines get LONG.

Each Skyliner Gondola can hold up to 10 guests, or up to 6 if there is a wheelchair or stroller. So the Skyliner holds few folks than a Disney Bus, but loads and unloads much quicker.

Hollywood Studios sits next to a waterway that is an offshoot of Crescent Lake and actually connects it to EPCOT along with the five EPCOT area resorts, Disney Swan and Dolphin , Disney Swan Reserve, BoardWalk Inn , Yacht Club , and Beach Club .

The Disney Boat system is a relaxing and leisurely way to get from one place to another on Disney property. It’s not necessarily the fastest option, but it’s efficient and if you can get a seat, it’s downright blissful.

The boats make four stops on their route: EPCOT, Yacht & Beach Club, BoardWalk, Swan & Dolphin pier, and Hollywood Studios. The whole route can take about 30 minutes, depending on the number of passengers and loading and unloading time. Typically Disney will have 2-3 boats on the route at a time, so if you miss the boat, you can expect to wait anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes.

These Friendship Boats are not as big as the Magic Kingdom Ferry. They’re about 65 feet long, and hold up to 100 passengers. Since the boats are infrequent, there are fewer available, and make several stops, you might find yourself waiting a while for one at the end of the day.

If your destination is along the waterway, but you’re not one to wait for a boat, then the walking path might suit your needs. Ok, strictly speaking, this isn’t “transportation” but it is still an option for getting to and from Hollywood Studios, so we’re including it.

The walkway to the EPCOT area resorts takes guests past the Skyliner and Bus Stop to a path along the waterway that borders the BoardWalk. The BoardWalk Inn is the closest at about 3/4 mile from the entrance of Hollywood Studios.  Swan, Swan Reserve, and Dolphin are about a mile away by foot. The Yacht and Beach Club Resorts are on the far side of Crescent Lake from Hollywood Studios. You’ll have to walk just over a mile to get from there to the Park entrance.

If it sounds fun to walk from one Park to another, this is your only east coast opportunity. Hollywood Studios’ front gate and EPCOT’s back gate are connected via all those EPCOT-Area Resort paths, and this will be the longest walk in this area. It’ll add 1.25 miles or so to your pedometer, and depending on your pace, can take about 25-35 minutes.

If you have your own car in Disney World, then you’ll probably want to use it to get from where you’re staying to Hollywood Studios. If you’re staying at a Disney Resort, the cost of parking is included in your stay, so you’re covered.

If you’re not staying at a Disney resort, then you’ll need to plan to pay for parking each day.

• Preferred parking: car or motorcycle – $45 to $50 per day
• Standard parking: car or motorcycle – $25 per day
• Oversized Vehicle Parking: Shuttle, Limo, Camper Trailer, RV, Bus or Tractor Trailer – $30 per day

The Hollywood Studios parking lot is situated at the front of the park and has sections named after characters you’ll meet in the parks to help you remember where you parked: Mickey, Minnie, Jessie, Buzz, Olaf, and BB-8. Remember, you can also use the “Car Locator” function in My Disney Experience to help you remember where you parked!

If Hollywood Studios isn’t your only park for the day, keep that parking receipt! At Disney, you only have to pay for parking per day, not per theme park, so present that receipt at your next theme park to avoid paying twice!

If Disney transportation is too slow for you, and you have the option to drive yourself, you can definitely take advantage of the local Taxi and Rideshare options. Prices can vary based on the time of day and distance, but you can expect to pay anywhere from $15 to $35 each way (and don’t forget to tip your driver!).

If you’re staying at a resort, the Cast Members or Bell Services Attendants can help you arrange a taxi pick-up, or you can use the Uber or Lyft apps on your mobile to select your own ride.

Each park has designated taxi and rideshare drop-off and pick-up locations, which may not be as conveniently placed as a Disney transportation stop but far more convenient than schlepping it in from the far outskirts of a parking lot.

If you’re looking to grab one of these options at the end of your park day, you’ll usually find some taxis waiting in the parking lot that you can flag over for a lift back to your resort or to your next destination. If you’re planning to use a rideshare, you may want to start that request about 15 minutes early that way, you’re not just standing in the parking lot waiting for your ride, but can time it so that they show up without you having to wait too long.

Convenience with that touch of Disney service! You’ll have to shell out some extra cash, but Disney’s Minnie Van service will get you anywhere on Disney property you need to go (and even all the way to the airport). These cute SUVs are driven by Cast Members but can be requested through the Lyft app.

The price is significantly more than a standard Lyft ride and part of the justification for that the vehicles are cleaned to Disney’s expectations, there are up to 2 car seats available for younger passengers, the Minnie Vans have access to exclusive drop-off locations, and the fun, wit, and knowledge of your Cast Member driver.

Minnie Vans have their own pick-up and drop-off location at the Hollywood Studios Bus station, but they’ll get there much quicker and with less of that up-close-and-personal bonding time with your fellow bus travelers. And the added bonus is that you’ll lose some weight, specifically in the wallet area (well, that might not be a bonus after all…).

Final Thoughts

No matter what method of transportation you use, make sure to do your research and plan accordingly. Until teleportation is invented, getting where you need to be will take some time and inevitably, something outside of your control may affect your travel time, so give yourself an extra 30 minutes to get to where you need to be — no matter how you get there.

Be sure to use the Transportation on My Disney Experience . On there, you’ll be able to look up the schedule for all Disney transportation options, the Car Locator function, and even getting directions if you need help figuring it all out.

Also remember that Disney World Cast Members are there to help — if you ever find yourself unsure of how to get from one place to another in the parks, they will always be more than happy to help you! And if transportation woes do occur, be sure to talk to the Cast Members about your options.

While flashier, faster transportation options like the Monorail and Disney Skyliner often top guests’ lists, Disney boat transportation slows things down so you can truly enjoy the view and, not to mention, give your aching feet a rest. Keep reading for everything you need to know about Walt Disney World boat service, from the massive Magic Kingdom ferries to smaller water taxis to and from the Disney resorts. 

Set Sail for Fun with Walt Disney World Water Transportation

While the first look at Cinderella Castle from the Magic Kingdom Monorail or coming in for a landing over Epcot’s France Pavilion on the Disney Skyliner can be downright magical, guests can also get where they need to go while enjoying similarly enchanting views with the help of Disney World’s boat service. 

For those who have never cruised around Seven Seas Lagoon before, here are some things to remember before you climb aboard.  

Is Disney World Water Transportation Free? 

Just like the Monorail , Disney Skyliner and bus service , whether you want to ride on a Magic Kingdom Ferry or float over to Epcot on a Disney Friendship Boat, all water transportation options at Walt Disney World are completely free . In fact, you don’t even need to buy an expensive park ticket to ride, making them a relaxing way to soak up a little Disney magic without having to fight the crowds, all while resting your theme park-weary feet.

Where Do the Disney Friendship Boats and Water Taxis Go?

While Walt Disney World transportation options like the buses, monorails and the Disney Skyliner will typically get you to your destination faster, boat service can make for a delightfully low-key way to get between the parks and resorts. Boat transportation is available in many areas around the Central Florida resort, including:

Can You Get to Magic Kingdom from Epcot by Boat? 

Unfortunately not. Although water transportation is available at both Magic Kingdom and Epcot, there is no boat that runs between the two theme parks. For the best way to travel between Epcot and Magic Kingdom, we recommend a similarly scenic and relaxing ride on the Disney Monorail , which connects Magic Kingdom’s Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) to the Epcot Main Entrance. 

The only theme parks at Walt Disney World connected by water transportation are Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Picking up and dropping off between Epcot’s International Gateway and the Disney BoardWalk, as well as near the Hollywood Studios Main Entrance, the Disney Friendship Boats make for an especially leisurely way to travel between the two parks. 

Can Anyone Ride the Ferry at Disney World? 

Yup! Although Disney water transportation is largely meant to ferry guests between the theme parks and resorts, you don’t need to be going to the parks or dining or staying at one of the resorts to enjoy a relaxing boat ride around Walt Disney World. Additionally, for Disney resorts with boat docks, you aren’t required to be a registered hotel guest to take advantage of the resort’s water taxi.

Can You Ride the Disney Ferry Boat and Friendship Boats for Fun?

Absolutely! While transportation options like Water Taxis, Friendship Boats and the Magic Kingdom Ferry Boats are simply meant to take you from Point A to Point B, they also offer up some pretty great views of the Walt Disney World Resort. Not only that, but they’re also a fun way to enjoy some leisurely resort hopping . 

To top it all off, if you time your ride right, you might even be able to watch some of the nightly fireworks from the comfort of the boat. With the fireworks glittering off the water, this can make for some especially memorable views. 

Arriving at Walt Disney World too late in the day to go to the parks but still hoping to soak up Disney magic? Consider going for a ride on one of the water taxis. Not only will you get a peek at popular sights like Cinderella Castle, but it’s also a great way to familiarize yourself with traveling to and from the parks if this is your first time visiting.  

Is Taking Disney World Boat Transportation Worth It?

It really depends on the crowds, your overall health and what you’re hoping to accomplish during your visit. As pretty as the views are, water taxis are by no means the quickest way to get around Walt Disney World. So, if you’re trying to cram as much into your day as possible, you’re probably better off using other transportation options like the Monorail, Disney Skyliner and bus system. 

However, if you’d rather keep your vacation as laidback as possible, with plenty of time to see the sights and take a load off your feet, then boat service can be an idyllic way to get around. Just keep in mind that depending on when you want to ride, watercraft can fill up quite quickly. So, be prepared to have a long wait or cramped ride. 

Taking the Disney Friendship Boats, Water Taxis & Ferries: Routes and Hours

Ready to climb aboard? With so many different boat docks and watercraft to keep straight, using Disney’s boat transportation can be a bit confusing. By familiarizing yourself with the schedules and various routes ahead of time, you can make sure your voyage is as smooth and speedy as possible. 

Depending on where you’re going at Walt Disney World, guests have a few different choices when it comes to boat transportation, from massive ferry boats capable of carrying as many as 600 passengers to smaller water taxis and Friendship Boats. 

While some watercraft offer non-stop boat service directly to your destination, others take the scenic route with multiple stops along the way. Here are the various boat routes available to guests around Walt Disney World, as well as their typical hours of operation. Just keep in mind that the schedule can change depending on park closing time and in the event of Early Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours (Extra Magic Hours’ replacements).

Over around Magic Kingdom , guests can take advantage of two different water transportation options. Three different ferry boats shuttle guests back and forth between the park’s main entrance and the Transportation & Ticket Center, while smaller water taxis carry travelers from the resorts to Magic Kingdom and back. 

Magic Kingdom Ferry Boats

Named for three Walt Disney Company legends, the Admirable Joe Fowler, General Joe Potter and Richard F. Irvine ferry boats are free-floating watercraft (not on a track) that transport guests between the Transportation and Ticket Center and main entrance to Magic Kingdom. 

Although most folks make a beeline for the Monorail when heading to Magic Kingdom, the ferry offers a more leisurely way to get across Seven Seas Lagoon. Best of all, with standing and seating options available on both the upper and lower decks, a ride on a Magic Kingdom ferry boat also offers beautiful vistas of the park itself. 

Be aware that while three different ferry boats are available, not all of them may be running at the same time, depending on when you arrive. In general, boats run at approximately 10 to 15-minute intervals, with the complete loading and unloading process and trip across Seven Seas Lagoon taking about another 15 minutes. And don’t be scared off by the dauntingly long line – with a max capacity of 600 people, you never need to worry about a ferry boat running out of room. 

Magic Kingdom Resort Water Taxis

Along with the Magic Kingdom Resort Monorail Loop, guests staying or dining at one of the Magic Kingdom resorts around Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake can also get back to their room or to a dining reservation using the hotel’s dedicated boat launch. Several different, color-coded routes are available – each with a varying number of stops. 

Unfortunately, while direct boat service is offered between Magic Kingdom and two Bay Lake resorts, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and the Fort Wilderness Campground, no direct trips are available between Magic Kingdom and the Grand Floridian, Polynesian Village or Contemporary Resorts. 

In general, each route has two boats typically operating at approximately 10 to 30-minute intervals, with the actual trip lasting anywhere from eight to 20 minutes depending on where you’re embarking and how busy it is. 

For example, the Green Flag Water Taxi can get pretty crowded in the evenings with folks heading to the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Review for dinner. Operating hours also vary for the different routes and according to park hours. Routes include:

Blue Flag Water Taxis

The Blue Flag Water Launch travels between three Bay Lake resorts – Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Fort Wilderness and the Contemporary Resort . Boats typically begin running early (around 6:45 AM) to accommodate breakfast reservations and cease operations around 11:30 PM. 

Unlike other Magic Kingdom routes, boats run clockwise throughout the morning and early afternoon until 3:00 PM before switching to counterclockwise for the remainder of the day. 

Wheelchair Accessibility: Typically requires a transfer and two steps down depending on water levels

Gold Flag Water Taxis 

The Gold Flag Water Launch connects two resorts on Seven Seas Lagoon – Disney’s Polynesian Village and the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa – with the Magic Kingdom. Supported by the Resort Monorail Loop, boats usually start operating a bit later (around 8:30 AM) and stop running about 60 to 90 minutes after park closing time. 

Green Flag Water Taxis 

The Green Flag Water Launch serving Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort is one of the only direct water taxi routes between the Magic Kingdom and a Disney hotel. Similar to the Gold Flag Water Taxi, boats typically begin running around 8:30 AM and continue until 60 to 90 minutes after park closing. 

The boat dock is located near the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Review and Trail’s End Restaurant. So, if you’re heading back to your campsite or a cabin, keep in mind that you may need to get on a bus before finally getting to your home away from home.  

Wheelchair Accessibility: Usually accessible for wheelchairs and ECVs

Red Flag Water Taxis 

The Red Flag Water Launch connecting Disney’s Wilderness Lodge with Magic Kingdom is the only other direct boat route in this corner of Walt Disney World. Like Fort Wilderness’s Green Flag Water Taxi, boats usually start operating around 8:30 AM and continue until 60 to 90 minutes after park closing.

Wheelchair Accessibility: Some boats require a transfer and a couple of steps into the watercraft, while others accommodate both ECVs and wheelchairs

Epcot & Disney’s Hollywood Studios Area

Heading to Epcot or Disney’s Hollywood Studios ? Don’t miss out on the Disney Friendship Boats. Not only can you go for a laidback cruise between both of the parks and several resorts around Crescent Lake and the Disney Boardwalk , but you can even use the Friendship Boats to explore World Showcase.  

Epcot Resort Area Friendship Boats

Although both the Hollywood Studios Main Entrance and Epcot’s International Gateway Entrance are within walking distance from the Epcot-area resorts, guests hoping to save some steps can take a Friendship Boat instead. 

Unlike many of the Magic Kingdom water taxis, Friendship Boats tend to be easily accessible for wheelchairs, ECVs and strollers alike as long as water levels remain normal. That being said, that can change during higher or lower-than-normal water levels or rough winds, as passengers will then need to either step up or down to get in rather than using the ramp. Keep an eye out for posted signage regarding current accessibility.

As with water transportation at Magic Kingdom, Friendship Boat service between the parks and resorts usually operates from 8:30 AM until roughly 60 minutes after park closing time. Routes include:

Disney’s Hollywood Studios to Epcot Route

Stops are made in the following order:

• Disney’s Hollywood Studios
• Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels (shared boat dock)
• Disney’s Beach Club and Yacht Club Resorts (shared boat dock)
• Disney’s Boardwalk Inn

Epcot to Disney’s Hollywood Studios Route

If you want, you can even take one of the Friendship Boats across World Showcase Lagoon. For those hoping to get a different perspective of the World Showcase Pavilions and also rest their feet for a bit, this can be a unique, though slightly time-consuming, way to get from one end of World Showcase to another. 

Having said that, if you’d rather experience all of the World Showcase countries and save some time getting from Point A to Point B, you’re probably better off walking. At World Showcase, Friendship Boats follow these routes:

• Between the Canada and Morocco Pavilions
• Between the Germany and Mexico Pavilions

World Showcase Friendship Boats begin running at 11:00 AM, with the last watercrafts departing from the Mexico and Canada boat docks at 7:15 PM and the Morocco and Germany boat docks at 7:30 PM. Additionally, keep in mind that, from time to time, there may only be one boat operating. 

Plus, you can’t take a Friendship Boat from inside World Showcase over to Hollywood Studios. Instead, you’ll need to exit through International Gateway and get on a boat at the nearby dock. 

Guests staying at resorts in the Disney Springs Resort Area also have access to their own picturesque boat service along the lazy Sassagoula River. If you’re heading out for some souvenir shopping or dinner, this relaxing river cruise can be a wonderful addition to a stay at these similar low-key resorts.  

Similar to boat service at the Magic Kingdom, passengers can choose from several different color-coded routes. However, unlike Magic Kingdom’s resort boats, most Disney Springs water transportation routes offer direct service rather than several stops.  

Be aware that boats to and from Disney Springs tend to run less frequently in the mornings, with service picking up during the evenings to accommodate the dinner rush. Additionally, given the design of these ferry boats, watercraft are usually wheelchair accessible. Although, you may need to fold up your chair for the trip. Routes include:

• Purple Flag Ferry Boat: Between Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter and Disney Springs Marketplace
• Yellow Flag Ferry Boat: Between Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside and Disney Springs Marketplace
• Yellow/Purple Flag Ferry Boat: Shared boat service between both Port Orleans resorts and Disney Springs Marketplace
• Blue Flag Ferry Boat: Between Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and the Treehouse Villas and The Landing at Disney Springs
• Green Flag Ferry Boat: Between Disney’s Old Key West Resort and The Landing at Disney Springs

Boats are a great way to get around the different parks and resorts at Walt Disney World in Florida. Since much of the property is water, Disney strategically created boat routes that cover lots of the Walt Disney World property. Depending on where you start, you can get to a number of places just by hopping aboard a boat. As I mentioned, they are completely free and you don't need to be a resort guest or hold a theme park ticket to use them! Free sunset cruises anyone?!

This water transportation guide is going to cover everything you need to know to navigate the magical waters of the Walt Disney World Resort! But before we go into the details, let's cover some basic information.

How much does it cost to use the water transportation options at Walt Disney World?

I've said it once, twice, but I'll say it again because it's fun: all boat options are completely free!

Is water Transportation available from anywhere in Walt Disney World? 

No, we're going to cover this below, but there are only three areas where you can grab a boat. That said, they still cover a lot of locations!

Can I board a boat in a wheelchair or stroller? 

Yes! All of the water transportation options in Walt Disney World are stroller-friendly and wheelchair accessible. For strollers, depending on what boat you're boarding you may have to remove your child from the stroller and/or fold it up. As for wheelchairs, whether or not it requires a transfer also depends on the boat you're boarding.

Will I get motion sickness? 

While this one is hard to answer for everyone, my experience is that the boats are fairly smooth and don't move around a lot. Now, they are still boats on moving water so if you tend to get motion sickness very easily, you may not enjoy the experience as much as someone who rarely gets seasick.

Will I get wet? 

As much as we love a Splash Mountain experience, these boats will not get you wet. That said, some boats are open-air or have no windows so if it's misting you may get a splash of that, but you certainly won't walk off the boat soaked.

What if there are storms? 

Like many outdoor activities in Florida, the boats will not run if there is inclement weather. This is, of course, for your safety as well as that of the captain and crew.

What are the operating hours for the boats? 

Depending on the route, boats typically begin running 30 minutes before the opening of the destination attraction. For example, if you're headed to the Magic Kingdom in the morning and  Early Theme Park Entry  begins at 8:30 am, you can expect the boats to start running around 7:30 am.

As for closing, the boats will typically run 60-90 minutes after the destination attraction closes.

If I want to rope drop a park, should I take the boats? 

Rope dropping is when you want to be the first one in the park so you can quickly head to a popular attraction to beat the eventual long lines. Since the boats tend to go at a slower pace, we would not recommend them for early morning rope drop. Depending on the season and ride you're looking to enjoy, you'll need to be at the park entrance before boat service even begins so you'd need to find another method of transportation that can get you to your destination faster.

Water Transportation: Route Overview

The water transportation options at Walt Disney World are separated into three distinct areas. These areas are the Magic Kingdom resorts area, the EPCOT resorts area, and the Disney Springs area. This water transportation guide is going to break them all down for you and give you everything you need to know.

Magic Kingdom Resorts Area

The boats around the Magic Kingdom area primarily serve as transportation to the Magic Kingdom Park from the various resorts around the Seven Seas Lagoon. In total, there are four routes. The boats around the Magic Kingdom all wave a different color flag. The flag represents the route the boat will take. If you're staying in a resort around the Seven Seas Lagoon, be sure you know what flag color represents your resort!

Let's take a look at the four routes!

Gold Flag Route

Stops:  The gold flag route serves the Magic Kingdom,  Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa ,  Disney's Polynesian Village Resort , and back again to the Magic Kingdom.

Tip: The route follows the order I just mentioned above so it's a great route to take if you're avoiding a busy monorail as it travels in the opposite direction.

Travel Time:  If you took a boat and made a loop around all three stops, you'd be looking at a travel time of about 20 minutes.

Average Wait Time:  The average wait time for a boat is about 12 minutes.

Operating Hours:  The boats run 30 minutes before the Magic Kingdom Early Theme Park Entry and stay open for about 90 minutes past park closing.

Red Flag Route

Stops:  The red flag route does a loop between the Magic Kingdom and  Disney's Wilderness Lodge.

Travel Time:  The average travel time between the two stops is about 10 minutes.

Average Wait Time:  Wait times are on average about 8-1o minutes.

Operating Hours:  These boats run 30 minutes before the Magic Kingdom Early Theme Park Entry and stay open for about 90 minutes past park closing.

Green Flag Route

Stops:  The green flag route does a loop between the Magic Kingdom and  The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort.

Travel Time:  The travel time between the two stops is about 12 minutes.

Average Wait Time:  Wait times for the green route can vary, but on average you can expect between 10-15 minutes.

Operating Hours:  Green route boats run 30 minutes before the Magic Kingdom Early Theme Park Entry and stay open for about 90 minutes past park closing.

Tip: The green route can be more crowded than the other routes since The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort do not have bus service to the Magic Kingdom. It's a scenic route but may require a little more time built into your schedule.

Blue Flag Route

Stops:  The blue flag route doesn't travel around the Seven Seas Lagoon, but instead serves the Bay Lake Area resorts. The route consists of stops at  Disney's Contemporary Resort , Disney's Wilderness Lodge, and The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness.

Travel Time:  Since these stops are not too far apart, the average travel time is about 6 minutes.

Average Wait Time:  Average wait time for boats is about 10 minutes.

Operating Hours:  The blue flag route is known to start as early as 6:45 am, but follows the same closing route as the other routes.

Tip: This route usually has two boats running throughout the day and note that the direction of the boats typically reverses at around 3 pm.

Stops:  The ferryboats are larger boats that hold up to 600 people that run from the Ticket and Transportation Center (TTC) and the Magic Kingdom.

Travel Time:  The route is fairly short rounding out at about six minutes one way.

Average Wait Time:  Average wait time for boats is about 10-20 minutes.

Operating Hours:  The ferryboats follow the Magic Kingdom park hours. Like others, they start about 30 minutes before park opening and up to 90 minutes after park closing.

Tip: Since the TTC serves commuters, it can get  very  crowded. Unless you're driving into the TTC, you might consider another option. This is not the best option for all you rope droppers! I'd head over to the Polynesian and take the monorail or the gold flag boat.

EPCOT Resort Area

The next area that has water transportation is centered around Crescent Lake in the EPCOT resort area. The boats in this area are referred to as the  Friendship Boats  and serve a variety of theme parks and resorts.

While the route is incredibly charming and relaxing, these boats are notoriously slow and can have long lines during peak times. I only use the Friendship Boats for pleasure and not when I'm in a hurry to get somewhere.

It's also important to note that if you're staying at  Disney's BoardWalk ,  Disney's Beach Club ,  Disney's Yacht Club , or The  Swan  and  Dolphin  Resorts, there are no buses available to both EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios. This means your two options are the Friendship Boats or on foot.

Let's take a look at the routes!

Tip: Since the Crescent Lake stops are all close together, it's often faster to walk to your desired destination. We recommend only using this service if you're looking to enjoy the experience. Otherwise, lace up those sneakers and get your steps in!

EPCOT Route

The EPCOT boats leave from a stop located right next to the International Gateway entrance of EPCOT. Again, this is where the long lines come in. At the end of the night, when your feet are aching, especially after the  Food and Wine Festival , it's appealing to jump on a boat, but believe me, the line is not worth it. Some report waiting upwards of an hour!

Route:  This route will begin at EPCOT and then take you to Disney's BoardWalk, Disney's Yacht and Beach Club, The Swan and Dolphin and then back to EPCOT.

Disney's Hollywood Studios Route

Route:  The Hollywood Studios route will begin at the theme park and take you to The Swan and Dolphin Resorts, Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts, Disney's Boardwalk, EPCOT, and then back to Hollywood Studios.

Again, this route can be slow and since it serves a lot of resorts, it can be pretty crowded. We recommend the walking path to Disney's Hollywood Studios!

Disney Springs Area

The boats servicing the 3 Disney Springs docks run along the rivers around the resorts located near the shopping and dining destination. Similar to the routes around the Seven Seas Lagoon, the different routes here are broken up into flags that represent the four possible routes. The routes around this part of town are gorgeous and allow you to take in the lush landscaping around Walt Disney World. Plus, these routes can take you to some awesome foodie destinations such as brunch at The Boathouse ! 

Let's take a closer look!

Yellow Flag Route

Stops:  The yellow flag boats run along the Sassagoula River and serve Disney Springs,  Disney's Port Orleans Resort – Riverside , and  Disney's Port Orleans – French Quarter.  Note that the dock at Disney Springs for this route is the Marketplace Dock located at the eastern end of Disney Springs.

Average Wait Time:  These routes are a bit longer so the average wait for a boat here can be about 20 minutes.

Operating Hours:  Service in the morning begins around 10:30 am and can be slower until the late afternoon. The last boat usually leaves at around 11:30 pm.

Tip: Depending on where your Riverside room is, you can hop off at the French Quarter and walk to your Riverside room from this stop.

Stops:  The green flag route is for guests staying at  Disney's Old Key West . The route only runs between the resort and Disney Springs. The dock for this route is located at The Landing, which is towards the middle of the Disney Springs area.

Average Wait Time:  You should expect an average wait time of about 20 minutes, though that could increase in the evenings.

Operating Hours:  Similar to the yellow route, the service begins around 10:30 am and runs through around 11:30 pm.

Tip: This route will take you through Disney's Old Key West Resort so it's a great way to see just how large this resort is and see its different buildings.

Stops:  The blue route services travel between  Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort  and The Landing at Disney Springs.

Average Wait Time:  Since this route is fairly short, you can expect a wait time between 10-15 minutes.

Operating Hours:  Similar to the rest of the routes, the service begins around 10:30 am and runs through around 11:30 pm.

Tip: Depending on where you are in Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort, it might make more sense to take the lovely walking path between the resort and Disney Springs. The two destinations are right next to each other so the boat may not make the most sense if you're in a hurry!

Stops:  The red flag route is the internal route that takes you between the 3 docks within the Disney Springs area. The line makes a loop starting at The West Side dock, over to The Marketplace, and then to The Landing.

Average Wait Time:  The wait for this route averages about 10 minutes.

Operating Hours:  In contrast to the other routes, this route runs until about 1:00 am.

Tip: Again, this route services docks that are very near each other. Although the Disney Springs area is large, it still might make more sense to walk depending on what your destination is.

Water Transportation: Enchanting Extras

By now, you've seen a broad overview of the different ways in which water transportation in Walt Disney World can help you get around from a practical level. However, there are other ways in which you can enjoy the waters around Walt Disney World! In comes  Disney's Enchanting Extras Collection . The Enchanting Extras Collection offers paid activities that take place around the Walt Disney World Resort. The experiences vary in type and price, but are awesome activities to try, especially if you're not visiting a park for the day.

One nautical example of an offering are the Guided Fishing Excursions. This guided catch-and-release experience allows guests to board a pontoon and enjoy some fishing near a handful of the Walt Disney World Resorts. The guide will provide all of the materials you need and best of all, it's open to all ages!

If you're looking for something extra magical, then for a steep cost of $399 plus tax, you can charter a private boat that will take you right along the waters of the Seven Seas Lagoon, Bay Lake, or the World Showcase Lagoon to get an up-close viewing of the Enchantment fireworks show in Magic Kingdom or Harmonious in EPCOT. This is what we call a huge splurge, but one that can create some amazing memories. The experience even includes snacks and refreshments. Up to 10 people can hop aboard so if you're traveling with another family, it might be a great idea to share this experience and split the cost!

Water Transportation: Final Thoughts

Water transportation at Walt Disney World is such a wonderful benefit to enjoy while in the resort. The boats can indeed be a bit slower, but sometimes the slower pace is exactly what you need after a lot of walking. We like to take advantage of this method of transportation whenever it makes sense. Sure, the buses can take you anywhere you want to go, but during the summer, nothing beats the open-air breeze you get when taking a boat to your next destination. We recommend it and see it as a mini attraction of sorts that is sure to please all members of your party!

Boats to/from Yacht Club and Hollywood Studios

Can you take a boat from Hollywood Studios to the Yacht Club? I know there are boats from the Boardwalk area but not sure where they are and where they go to. We are planning our August trip and will be spending the day in DHS, planning eating at Captain's Grille and then going back for Fantasmic. And, if the boats do run this way, how often do they run/how long do you have to wait for one? Thanks.

I think it was hs to swan and dolphen, yc, bw, epcot  

I believe that they come every 20 minutes. You could also walk it if you wanted. when we stay at the Boardwalk we walk to HS most of the time.

Thanks everyone. I knew would could walk but just wanted to know our options in case we are too tired/hot (we are going mid-late August). Every 20 minutes for the boat is not bad.

We loved taking the boat to HS!! Stopping at the Boardwalk and the Swan/Dolphin gave us a quick look at those resorts. It's only a 10 minute ride, and so relaxing!

Rooms at Yacht Club are lovely. The laminate floors are not noisy at all (if we had neighbors above us, we never heard them). Soundproofing on the balcony is good. Lots of USB ports.

We love the Yacht Club! We picked it the first time based on details - distance to the parks, reviews, etc - were not disappointed.

The Yacht Club's rooms are decorated in white with blue and brass accents. The most recent update also replaced carpeting with vinyl "hardwood" floors, freshening the rooms' look.

Dining isn't a strength at Yacht Club, but tons of options are short walk away at EPCOT or the four other resorts.

Ale & Compass Restaurant The cuisine is advertised as “New England comfort food.” Reader ratings have improved substantially over the years, without compromising the diversity of the menu.

Yachtsman Steakhouse Open for dinner only, Yachtsman Steakhouse serves up steak, seafood, and sides. This is a signature restaurant that tries to create an atmosphere, so expect high prices and to adhere to a minimal dress code.

Market at Ale and Compass A small spot carved out of the gift shop, the Market has coffee, pastries, and other small items.

Ale and Compass Lounge Ale & Compass is a competent restaurant, the kind of place you'll be happy to find at dinnertime if it's raining and you don't want to go outside; or everyone is starving and you need to eat right now. Ale and Compass is a better choice for breakfast. You'll find something for everyone in various combinations of eggs, potatoes, bacon, tofu, French toast, and so on, with a la carte options if you just want a quick bite.

Crew's Cup Lounge The Crew’s Cup Lounge is one of the better bars in Walt Disney World, although the reason for that statement is hard to explain. The entire room just feels...well, cool. It starts when you approach the door, which is found in the Yacht Club’s hallway, heading towards the Beach Club Resort. One of the things that makes Crew’s Cup cool is the understated sign hanging in the hall, a few steps up, as well as a plain door. The facade is easily overshadowed by the Yachtsman Steakhouse, but that secret, speakeasy style entry makes it a little hard to find, and we all know that the coolest places don’t need to advertise. Walking in you immediately notice the theme, which is rowing, but are not overwhelmed by it. There are a few images of rowers here and there and a few oars along the walls, but it is mostly just a quaint, slightly dark, overwhelmingly wood-paneled lounge. The rowing theme obviously fits in with the Yacht Club Resort and the Crew’s Cup looks as if it would be a place that a crew team would hang out after practice. While many Americans do not think of crew or rowing as major sports, it certainly has a long history in the United States. It began as soon as the English landed, having been popular there several centuries prior. Yale University boast the oldest American college crew club, started in 1843, and the Harvard versus Yale regatta is the oldest intercollegiate sport in the U.S. It is so old in fact (started in 1852), that it had to be paused during the American Civil War! The entire Crew’s Cup Lounge hints toward this history. The shell (or boat to you landlubbers) hanging from the ceiling is a common place for storage when there are no racks. The oars along the walls are each painted differently, which is how a team identifies itself (although these oars match no teams that we could find). Even just the exposed rafters and craftsman touches point toward a New England style around the year 1900. For those interested in what goes on in a kitchen, there is a window that looks into a section of the Yachtsman Steakhouse’s back of house. Often during dinner time you will see a prep chef getting ready for the mealtime rush. Once you decide to have a seat, there are a few different options, with seats at the bar, a handful of booths, a few tables and chairs, and also a few couches. Whether you are there for dinner, relaxation, or to watch the television, you will find a seat to match. Speaking of dinner, there is both food and drink aplenty, although the drink list is our one big knock on The Crew’s Cup as it follows the standard Disney drink menu. The food here is above average and consists of hearty appetizers, burgers, and chicken tenders. Nothing fancy, but good quality and decently priced (for Walt Disney World). The Crew’s Cup Lounge is not often mentioned as a favorite spot, and we will hope it stays that way because that just means more room for us. After all, if everyone knows it might stop being so cool.

Fittings & Farings Fittings & Farings is Yacht Club's souvenir shop. A small selection of snacks, drinks, and other groceries are available.

Refillable Mugs Allows guest self-service soft drink refills from quick-service locations in hotels ( NOT in theme parks ) for $21.99 for the length of stay.

Yacht Club has Disney World's best pool - Stormalong Bay with a lazy river, fabulous water slide, and acres of water fun. Three other pools are available across Yacht Club and Beach Club resorts, for use by both Beach and Yacht Club guests.

Lafferty Place Arcade arcade is near Stormalong Bay between the Yacht and Beach resorts. It features relatively recent video games of all kinds.

Free Disney Movies Under the Stars are shown most evenings, weather-permitting, either at the Beach Club Beach, or in the Solarium.

The Ship Shape Fitness Center has weights, treadmills, and other equipment for your workout. Hours are typically 6 AM to 9 PM. Joggers will enjoy the 0.8-mile loop around Crescent Lake too.

The Beach Club Beach hosts marshmallow roasts around 5:30 PM nightly. It's really great during the cooler months of the year.

Disney resort guests get into each theme park 30 minutes earlier than off-site guests, every day.

Those staying at Disney's Deluxe and Deluxe Villa hotels can buy Lightning Lane via Individual Purchase at 7:00 a.m. each day. Others cannot make that purchase until the official park opening time.

Disney's Deluxe and DVC resort guests get two extra hours in select theme parks on certain days of the week. The schedule changes, so check with the front desk.

Practical Matters

Check-in is 4:00pm Check-out is 11:00am

All Disney resorts participate in Disney’s Online Check-In program. If you’ve checked-in online and provided a mobile phone number or email address, you will receive your room number electronically. Then you can go straight to the room and use your smart phone or MagicBand to open the door, skipping the lobby altogether.

These rubber and plastic wrist bands can function as your room key, park admission, charge card, and more! MagicBands cost money, but if you'd like a free option you can use the official Disney World app on your phone or request an RFID-embedded card at the front desk.

Park tickets are best purchased online in advance either directly through Disney or via our Least Expensive Ticket Calculator . However, if you arrive without park tickets, head to the concierge desk in the hotel lobby.

Dining reservation are best made online in advance or on your phone or tablet during your visit. You can also use our Disney World Reservation Finder .

Washers and dryers are availabile in laundry facilities at each Disney World hotel. Cost is $3 per wash, and another $3 per dry cycle. A small selection of soap, fabric softener, and dryer sheets are also sold, for around $1 each. Only credit/debit cards can be used for payment. If you lose something in a theme park or during your stay at a Disney-operated hotel, visit Disney's Lost and Found website or call (407) 824-4245.

Disney hotels have gifts shops near their lobbies with a decent collection of Disney-branded souvenirs. You will also find basic pharmacy items such as sunscreen, aspirin, allergy and cold medicine, baby diapers and formula, shampoo, and the like. Resort hotels with Deluxe Villa rooms offer an assortment of groceries, as well.

Disney recommends a third party company, Kid's Nite Out , to provide babysitting services at the resort hotels. See our Disney World Child Care page for more information.

The Yacht Club is located in the EPCOT Resort Area. All modern GPS apps, and Google Maps, will have clear driving directions to it. As a backup, look for Disney road signs directing you toward the EPCOT resorts (not EPCOT) once you're on property, and then look for signs for the Yacht Club once you're close.

Disney Skyliner gondola system has a station at EPCOT's International Gateway entrance. The ride to Hollywood Studios is about 12 minutes (plus waiting time in line).

Disney provides free bus service to the Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, and Disney Springs from the bus stop at the front of the resort. Buses run about every 20 minutes. For all destinations except the Magic Kingdom, it's probably faster to drive or walk.

If you have your own car , it's faster to drive yourself to Disney's Animal Kingdom, the Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach water parks, and Disney Springs. Disney's transportation system is faster to the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney's Hollywood Studios.

EPCOT is a short walk from the Yacht Club, and the walk to Hollywood Studios is just a little longer.

Disney provides free boat service to EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios from the resort.

You can walk between the Beach Club, Yacht Club, BoardWalk, Swan, Swan Reserve, and Dolphin. Boat service is available to all of those, too, except the Swan Reserve. The Skyliner at EPCOT's International Gateway can take you to Caribbean Beach, Riviera, Pop Century, and Art of Animation. For all other resort destinations, the fastest option is an Uber, Lyft, or taxi. Disney's bus service is free but slow, and will probably require you to use an intermediate destination like Disney Springs, to get to your destination. And that can take a couple of hours each way if you're unluckly.

if you have a car, the easiest way to get to Universal Orlando, SeaWorld, and other tourist destinations is to drive. Alternatively, Mears Transportation operates shuttle services between the Disney hotels and other theme parks.

Fun, Time-Saving Ways to Get Around Walt Disney World

There truly are so many ways to easily get from one location to the next at Walt Disney World Resort. Perhaps you and your family even find the complimentary transportation from your Disney Resorts Collection hotel as fun as an attraction in your favorite theme park. And if you are that guest, planDisney supports you!

From monorails to buses, water taxis and more … knowing you have transportation covered and so many options to get you to your destination, truly takes away the stress of planning.

We think planDisney panelist Amy C . says it best, “why drive when you can sail, soar, or glide to your theme park destination? Disney transportation can pick you up and get you right where you belong while you relax, snap pictures, and enjoy time with your family.”

Walt Disney World Bus Service is one of the easiest modes of transportation to spot around property. Thanks to the wonderful cast members driving these iconic buses, traveling from your Disney Resort hotel to your Walt Disney World destination is a snap. Guests who have visited recently might even have noticed some of the new buses that were just added to the fleet. With spectacular views of attractions and scenes along the Rivers of America, Mouseketeers of all ages will enjoy this relaxed journey. The round trip 20-minute journey is the perfect way to travel between lands or to take a quick break from the sun or walking. There are three train stations connected to the attractions of that land. For tiny travelers, the thrill of riding aboard the Walt Disney World Railroad gives them an adventure they have only read about or seen in books and television.”

Discovered By Disaster is also set to deliver in fall 2024. Using cutting-edge CGI, archive footage and expert interviews, the series will   examine mysterious curiosities that have been uncovered by extreme weather and calamitous incidents. Episodes will look at everything from medieval skeletons, Mayan hieroglyphics, sunken shipwrecks and lost cities.

Secrets in the Dark will explore the blurred lines between science and the enigmatic, shedding light on unusual discoveries that turn up in dark, isolated locations. From the depths of ancient tombs to the mysteries of cursed artefacts, the series will look to unearth unsettling mysteries that challenge our understanding of the world. It is set to deliver in spring 2025.

The original Secrets in the Ice has sold to the likes of Sky History in the UK/Ireland; History in Benelux, Poland, Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria and South Africa; ProSieben in Germany; Super Channel and Blue Ant Media in Canada; NatGeo in Asia; RTI in Italy; and Foxtel in Australia among other territories. It comes from Toronto-based Shark Teeth, which was co-founded by Adrian Carter and Tom Mudd.

Carter and Mudd — whose credits also include Secrets in the Jungle , Secrets of Big Data and Secrets in the Sand — added: ““At Shark Teeth Films, we are laser-focused on creating premium access-driven documentary franchises and unscripted content for global audiences. We would like to thank Boat Rocker for their support in bringing these new and established series to fruition.”

The deal comes on the eve of the final MIPTV , which will be held in Cannes next week.

Sweeping, sculpted curves give Lady Lara a feminine elegance and the interior reportedly flows just as sinuously. Lady Lara is a private yacht and following her maiden voyage to Norway, she headed to Florida, the Bahamas and the Eastern Caribbean islands for the winter season.

Lady Lara features a displacement steel hull and aluminium superstructure, with teak decks. She was built to Lloyds Register classification society rules.

This luxury yacht is also fitted with ‘zero speed stabilizers’ which work at anchor, increasing on-board comfort when the yacht is stationary, particularly in rough waters.

Who is alexander mashkevitch.

Mashkevich was born in Frunze, Kyrgyz SSR, Soviet Union, in 1954. His father Anton, a doctor born in Lithuania, and his mother, Rakhel Yoffe, a lawyer born in Vitebsk, were evacuated to Kyrgyzstan in 1941. His family background is Lithuanian Jewish.

He is a graduate of Kyrgyz State University where he studied philology. Mashkevich started out an academic career but became a businessman during perestroika. Mashkevich, Patokh Chodiev, and Alijan Ibragimov form “the Trio,” a group of Kazakh businessmen who became billionaires. The Trio gained control of the recently privatized chromium, alumina, and gas operations in Kazakhstan (some of the largest ones in the world).

Mashkevich is one of the owners of Alferon Management. Based in London, Alferon Management has acquired mining operations in different places: Zambia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Indonesia, Kosovo, Russia, and other countries.

In 2010 he was on the Forbes list of billionaires at #287. In 2017, he was on the list at #1098, with a worth of $1.9 billions. Now his worth is 3 billion dollars.

The incredibly designed LADY LARA yacht features an interior style from Reymond Langton Design .

She has accommodations for 18 guests and 19 crew members on board. The VIP suites have fold-down balconies that add to the grandeur.

The onboard atmosphere is bright and inviting with subtle finishes. The entertainment areas are open to provide more sheltered and intimate formal spaces.

The yacht has an extensive health and beauty center with a spa and an expansive beach club.

The beach club creates the perfect area for guests to enjoy indoor/outdoor living. There is also a swimming platform where guests can leap into the water below.

She has an on-deck jacuzzi to soak up the bubbles and the views. The yacht also has an elevator for convenient access to her different decks and a comprehensive gym onboard. The tender garage is brimming with towable toys and tenders.

Reymond Langton Design also contributed to the exterior design of the LADY LARA yacht. She was built by Lürssen and delivered from their Rendsburg shipyard in 2015. The exterior has sweeping curves and elegant but masculine features.

LADY LARA was code-named project Orchid when she was launched from the Lürssen Shipyard in 2015 and later renamed. She has a full displacement hull which gives her exceptional speeds in the water.

She has a white aluminum superstructure and teak decks throughout. The exterior is accented by underwater lights, which illuminate her at the night.

The LADY LARA yacht is a 91m superyacht with a beam of 14.82m and a draft of 4m. The vessel reaches a maximum speed of 18 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots.

She is powered by 2 MTU engines and has a displacement of 2,945 gross tons.

She features an advanced stabilization system that provides guests with the best comfort levels on board by minimizing the rolling motion of the vessel. The $180 million yacht has a $14 – $15 million annual running cost.

She is an award-winning yacht that holds an award from the Asia Boating competition in 2016. LADY LARA has a Lloyd’s Register classification.

A $1.4 Million-Per-Week Yacht Charter Experience

Y.CO has just welcomed the 298-foot Lürssen Lady Lara to the charter fleet. The lowest weekly base rate is $1.4 million for bookings this winter in the Caribbean and Bahamas.

The yacht is also listed for sale—at more than $254 million—for the first time since the German shipyard delivered it in 2015. Y.CO’s Max Bulley and Gary Wright, along with Merle Wood of Merle Wood & Associates, represented the yacht at the recent Monaco Yacht Show.

“With Lürssen quality and stunning Reymond Langton design, Lady Lara is an exceptional yacht that was conceived with family living in mind,” Wright stated in a press release. “Her adaptable spaces, variety and flexibility, in addition to all the amazing features like the breathtaking spa area, the beach club and two pools, are ideal for multigenerational groups and put Lady Lara into a league of her own.”

Accommodations are for 12 guests in their choice of eight staterooms (for private use, the yacht is built to accommodate 16 guests). Six of the guest staterooms are on the main deck, with one on the lower deck. The master suite has its own private deck with an exterior terrace, outdoor hot tub, and indoor library. The aft-deck space in the owner’s area is called a “winter garden,” with sliding glass panels that can be closed to shelter diners from the elements.

There also are two cabins for owner’s staff or supernumeraries, in addition to the yacht’s quarters for 27 crew.

Onboard amenities include an aft-deck pool whose floor can be raised to create a dance floor. A sound system on this deck helps to create a discotheque-style environment for parties. There’s another pool up on the sundeck, this one with a swim-up bar.

On the bridge deck, guests have access to the spa, which includes a hammam, massage room, treatment room, beauty salon and gymnasium. Guests who prefer to get their exercise outdoors can do so from the beach club at water level, which has a steam room and a sauna along with a sunbathing area.

For rainy days and relaxing nights, the lower deck aboard Lady Lara includes a cinema. There’s also a touch-and-go helipad on board, if guests want to escape to a different spot up the coast.

How fast can Lady Lara cruise? According to Y.CO, the yacht has a top speed of 17 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots, which is plenty fast for exploring the islands.

California Yacht Club is located at: 4469 Admiralty Way, Marina del Rey, CA 90292 .

• If driving, please park in the CYC visitor’s lot adjacent to Admiralty Way and accessed from the driveway which is between Café del Rey and the Warehouse Restaurant.
• Once parked, proceed by foot and enter the member’s parking lot by passing by the main entry gate.
• After passing the main entry gate, continue walking, bearing hard left along the chain link fence at the north end of the large parking lot until it ends at a dark green shade cloth covered rowing shed.
• We meet, at the rowing sheds which are opposite the tall bamboo plants separating the Warehouse Restaurant and CYC.

Participants should bring: athletic shoes (running shoes), socks, shorts, shirts, sunscreen, water, a change of clothes,

towel and personal items (hats, sunglasses, orthotics, inhalers, etc).

To keep all the gear organized, a small duffel bag or back pack is recommended.

Clothes should fit reasonably tightly so while rowing, hands won’t get caught in shirts and shorts won’t get caught in the sliding seats.

Dressing in layers and using wicking type fabrics is recommended.

Peter Duncan and Relative Obscurity Return to the Podium as J/70 World Champion at California Yacht Club

Peter Duncan’s Relative Obscurity has prevailed over 60 other teams and challenging wind conditions to capture the 2021 J/70 World Championship title at California Yacht Club, today. In a five-day series that tested the skill and patience of top-notch competitors from 11 nations, Duncan – sailing with Willem van Waay, Morgan Trubovich and Victor Diaz de Leon – secured a top five position in the beginning of the regatta and never let go.

“I’m elated!” said Duncan as he returned to the dock, bustling with activity. “That was a tough day out there. We didn’t start very well but had a bit of a break with a header on the first run of the second race that let us get close to everybody and sail through some folks we need to sail through,” he explained. “We have a lot of fun onboard – joke and laugh and keep it light – and that worked in our favor when we had to grind through. Everybody knows what their job is, and these guys do them exceptionally well.”

The J/70 is 22.75 feet with an 11 foot long cockpit and deck-stepped carbon mast for easy rigging and stepping.

The crew shall consist of 3 or more persons. The number of crew shall not be changed during an event.

The J/70 Class has been created as a strict one-design Class where the true test when racing is between crews and not boats and equipment.

Well, chances are it will not be like Day 1 of the Pre-Worlds. Maybe more like Day 2. But then again, this is MdR—anything can happen.

CALIFORNIA YACHT CLUB

Founded originally in 1922 by yachtsmen including Charles Hathaway and Frank Garbutt, the California Yacht Club's first clubhouse was built in Wilmington, CA in Los Angeles' inner harbor (berths nos. 192 & 193), just opposite Terminal Island. Close by were the yards of renowned yacht builders Wilmington Boat Works and Fellows & Stewart (second location). In the club's inaugural year, member yachtsmen formed the first Star class fleet on the Pacific coast. Involved in all aspect of the sport, the club has encouraged a variety of pleasure boating, first in Los Angeles Harbor, and now in Santa Monica Bay.

Over the years CYC has been the club for numerous prominent yachtsmen including Merritt Adamson, Pierpont Davis, Roy E. Disney, J. Paul Getty, Samuel K. Rindge, William Stewart, James Kilroy and navigator extraodinaire, Ben Mitchell. Movie mogul Cecil B. DeMille once served as a trustee of the club and donated a gold cup for powerboat racing. Comedy film producers Al Christie and Hal Roach were both deeply involved in club activities in the twenties and thirties.

Power boating has always been a part of the club's mission along with sailing and rowing. The first CYC powerboat regatta was run in 1922 and the winner was none less than the famous Gar Wood in his Harmsworth Trophy winner Miss America. CYC's Catalina Challenge race for powerboats has been run annually since 1922.

A fire on Thanksgiving Day, 1930 severely damaged the original clubhouse although the heroic efforts of some members saved all of the trophies.

In 1932, several CYC members figured prominently in the sailing events at the Los Angeles Olympic Games. Owen Churchill, inventor of the SwimFin, won the gold medal in the Eight-Metre Class with Angelita.

Unfortunately, the club was forced to relinquish its key location in the East Basin to the Coast Guard for the war effort in 1941. A dormant period followed.

With the development of the long-awaited Marina Del Rey in the early 1960s, the club reformed in '63 and elected Fritz Overton, Commodore in 1923, as head of the "new" club. In 1966, they opened the modern clubhouse and marina facility that is their home today. The radial design of the building allows sweeping panoramic views of the marina.

The California Yacht Club is owned by the Hathaway family, owners of the Los Angeles Athletic Club. The annual "Great Catalina to Marina del Rey Rowing and Paddling Event" pays tribute to Charles Hathaway's row in 1976 from Catalina Island to the club on his 50th birthday.

The unique combination of private ownership and annually elected flag officers has worked well to establish California Yacht Club as one of the outstanding clubs in the nation.

‘Nothing left’: After California Yacht Club fire, residents mourn loss of a beloved spot

In an instant, an overnight seaside blaze engulfed decades’ worth of boating trophies, historical artifacts and cherished memorabilia at the California Yacht Club in Marina del Rey on Monday.

Fire crews attempted to control the blaze as heavy smoke and flames consumed the two-story building. By the time they had subdued the fire two hours later, only the skeletal remnants of the clubhouse were left standing.

John Myers, senior vice president of the club, said the blaze had been reported by an employee working late in the clubhouse Monday night. The fire spared the remainder of the facilities on the ground, including the docks and the yachts moored there. But the clubhouse, and particularly its second floor, was all but wiped out.

“We are working closely with the Los Angeles County Fire Department in their investigation of the cause of the incident and will share those findings when they become available to us,” Myers said.

Members are left mourning, comparing the loss to the death of a loved one.

Jennifer Dakoske Koslu awoke in Rancho Mirage at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, before the sun had risen, to find her phone inundated with text messages from club members.

The first message she read simply stated, “The CYC is gone.”

“As soon as I opened my phone, it went to a link on the Citizen app and saw a video of the club burning. I was shocked,” Dakoske Koslu said.

For the last 24 years, Dakoske Koslu and her family have been dedicated members of the CYC, whose clubhouse is a few miles away from their home in Playa del Rey. She said it is where her children have grown up, familiarizing themselves with every inch.

“I remember taking my son there on the Fourth of July when he was just 3 weeks old. It was the first place we went with him as a newborn,” Dakoske Koslu said.

She and her husband biked to the club in the aftermath of the fire, greeted by the charred remains of the building on Wednesday afternoon.

“The destruction is unbelievable. It’s clear that the fire was burning intensely on the second floor,” Dakoske Koslu said. “There’s nothing left.”

The second floor once housed a collection of the club’s prestigious racing trophies, kept on display for members and visitors. The fire melted all but a single salvageable California Cup. Most notably, the priceless King of Spain Trophy, acquired in 1929 from King Alfonso XIII, was lost.

Additionally, the club lost cherished photographs of every past commodore, a significant position within a yacht club. Members said they didn’t know if anyone had digitized the images of the commodores or of the club’s founders.

“We would tell yachting stories at the bar around lots of memorabilia, and the yachting artifacts behind the bar are all gone now,” Tom Materna said. “The yacht club provided us a facility for the off-the-water celebrations after hard-fought competition on the water.”

The CYC dates to the early 1920s, started by boat owners from the Los Angeles Athletic Club and other yacht clubs. The Board of Harbor Commissioners approved the first clubhouse in 1922, designed by famed architect Edwin Bergstrom, co-designer of the Pentagon.

In 1965, the yacht club submitted a proposal for an all-encompassing $1-million, two-story, 10,000-square-foot clubhouse on four acres off Admiralty Way. Members envisioned a state-of-the-art facility with 170 boat slips, a guest dock, a small boat hoist and a dry land storage facility for boats. The clubhouse that resulted was dedicated on June 10, 1967.

Then-Commodore William A. DeGroot Jr. told The Times that the triangular parcel of land on which the clubhouse still sits is a “perfectly logical place for a club facility, and a commanding view down the main channel of the marina.”

Though the building has historical significance to its members, it does not have a historic designation, according to Linda Dishman, president of the Los Angeles Conservancy.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragedy and so grateful for the outpouring of support from the community and our members,” Myers said. “CYC has been a beacon for the nautical community for the past 101 years.”

Materna, 68, first found out about the fire through Facebook as friends posted videos and photos of the damage Tuesday morning. Then he began receiving calls and text messages from friends.

“Everybody woke up in the morning and realized we’d lost a significant part of the sailing community,” Materna said.

His connection to the club dates back nearly 52 years, to when he was just 16 years old. After spending 30 years sailing professionally with Hobie Cats, mainly racing catamarans — a watercraft with two parallel hulls of equal size — he recently served as a crew member on other club members’ racing yachts.

The CYC is pivotal in the boat racing community, organizing and hosting events such as the Optimist National Championship and Junior Olympic trials, Materna said. He fondly remembers the hundreds of people from across the globe converging on the marina for similar events.

The main topic among members now is what’s next for the club. Dakoske Koslu noted that the club’s ownership changed over the last few years, and many are unsure and concerned about the club’s continuation after the fire.

The club relocated to the marina in 1967, leasing the land it sits on from the county.

“I don’t think the county has really valued the contributions of the California Yacht Club as an important part of the Marina. They value Trader Joe’s because it’s more money for them,” Dakoske Koslu said.

Dakoske Koslu said she’s seen numerous small marine-oriented businesses displaced from the marina, making way for more commercialized developments such as Trader Joe’s and Recreational Equipment Inc.

California Yacht Club was established in 1922 and boated its' first competitive rowing team back in the 1930's. In 1977, after a long hiatus, Stan Mullin, Ken Jacobs and Charles Hathaway reactivated rowing at the Club. CYC rowers now number about 60, and represent all abilities, ages and motivations.

Adult Rowing - California Yacht Club CYC is a great place for adults of all ages and skills to row out of Marina Del Rey. We have more than 60 active adult rowers with a wide range of interests and motivations varying from recreational, fitness, social, open water, and racing.

CYC Rowing - California Yacht Club - Rowing About us CYC Junior Rowing CYC offers a range of rowing programs suitable for girls and boys ages 12 - 18. CYC membership is not required to participate. Our junior rowing programs include: a highly successful competitive rowing team, a recreational program and private lessons.

OSPREY is a fine example of a very hard-to-come-by 2016 Hunt Harrier 26 powered with the optional Yamaha 300hp outboard motor with only 215 hours. Lift-kept with custom sun covers, she shows beautifully with her Stars & Stripes blue hull, Oyster White boot stripe and black bottom. In 2018 the Yamaha outboard motor was painted to match the gelcoat and a faux teak transom was applied, nice custom touches done by the Hinckley Company. Properly maintained and serviced (full outboard motor service, with computer check and compression test, March 2022) make OSPREY a true ‘turn key’ offering. This is a great opportunity to acquire a nearly-new Hunt Harrier 26 in time for Spring!

MOSCOW, November 19. A drone flying to Moscow has been downed by air defense systems in Elektrostal in the Moscow Region, no one was hurt, Moscow’s Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said on Sunday.

"In the Elektrostal municipal district, air defense forces repelled an attack by a drone, which was flying toward Moscow. According to preliminary data, its fragments fell down incurring no damage. No one was hurt," he wrote on his Telegram channel .

According to the Moscow mayor, emergencies services are working on the site.
