Annapolis Powerboat Show 2023 Guide

Annapolis has 4 epic, huge, can’t-miss holidays: St. Patrick’s Day, Commissioning Week, EYC Lights Parade, and Boat Shows. But boat shows can be intimidating if you’ve never been. So we compiled all the most common questions we get into one helpful guide.

Btw, Annapolis has two different boat shows each fall. First up is powerboats. That’s this weekend (10/5–8). Next weekend (10/12–15) all the powerboats leave and all the sailboats come in.

Boat Show Basics

• What is a boat show? Basically the entire harbor turns into a gigantic shopping mall of boats, boat accessories, and businesses that like marketing to boaters.
• Who goes to the Boat Show? Literally everyone. Tens of thousands of people.
• How do I go to the Boat Show? Buy a ticket ($25 in advance, $30 at the gate), park at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium ( $20 in advance , $25 at the lot) and take the shuttle, then just walk around and look at the awesome boats!
• Can I park any closer than Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium? Sure. Lots of private lots offer premium parking closer to the show. Bring cash. And there's always the shiny new Hillman Garage. You better be pretty early though because these options fill up fast.
• What will I see at the Boat Show? First of all, boats (duh). From 10 feet to 66 feet and $25k to $4 million. But you’ll also see boat adjacent stuff like floating docks, boat lifts, clothing and life jackets, and tons of service providers. You’ll even see non-boat things like Realtors, home builders, and landscapers.
• When is the Boat Show? October 5–8. That’s this weekend.
• What time is the Boat Show? 10 AM–6:30 PM Thursday through Saturday. Sunday is 10 AM–5 PM. Thursday’s called Preview Day. It’s a little more expensive but less crowded so it’s Scoop’s favorite day.
• Is the Boat Show rain or shine? Yes. Boaters aren’t afraid of bad weather.

The Experience

• What can I eat and drink? There’s plenty of food onsite. The Fleet Reserve Club is open to the public selling beer, oysters, and their classic boat show pit beef. Choptank has a special outside bar and a stellar view of the show. And this is the only time of the year we drink Pusser’s painkillers before noon. Friends of the Scoop Vintage Views will be at brokerage cove serving drinks and lunch!
• Is there water at the show? Yes. Annapolis Green’s Naptown Taps will be onsite providing clean drinking water all weekend long.
• Can I ride on any boats? You bet. Check out the demo dock to sea trial your next boat.
• What if I’m a big baller? Get a VIP ticket and access the LaVictoire Finance lounge with a full bar and catering by Julie St. Marie.
• Are all the boats new? Nope. Bargain hunters and boaters who don’t want to wait for a new boat to be constructed can visit Brokerage Cove to see pre-owned boats. Note: you’ll have to take the water taxi.

Final Questions

Do I have to take my shoes off? Not for every boat but slip-ons are always a good idea at a boat show.

Wait what if I like sailboats? Your show is next week . Or you could always join the dark side. . . .

2022 United States (Annapolis) Powerboat Show: Preview Guide

Get ready for Annapolis, Maryland’s 2022 United States Powerboat Show , taking place October 6-9, 2022. Powerboats large and small will be on display at City Dock at the downtown waterfront including yachts, center console fishing boats, cuddy cabin cruisers, pontoons, powercats, and more. Hundreds of companies will exhibit boats, apparel, accessories, electronics, and general gear. If you’re in the market for a boat or marine gear, or if you just want to connect with fellow boaters, plan to attend and maybe also enjoy some boating on the Chesapeake on the same weekend.

There are lots of hotels nearby for accommodations or better yet, forget the hotel and charter a boat for a day or overnight with Boatsetter . You can attend the show one day and then take an afternoon of cruising or fishing the next. We have a variety of choices in our Annapolis fleet so you have options but book early because this is a popular weekend and you don’t want to miss the boat – literally or figuratively.

New Boats and Demo Docks

Among the exhibitors this year that you can plan to visit are Back Cove Yachts, Blackfin Marine, Crownline, Grady-White Boats, Kadey Krogen, Nordhavn Yachts, Raymarine, Viking Sport Cruisers, Yamaha, Tiara, Helly Hansen, Chesapeake Bay Magazine, BoatUS, and more.

PropTalk Magazine and the BoatUS Foundation will be hosting the Demo Dock with something for everyone.

SeaKeeper will demonstrate its gyro stabilization system that reduces fatigue and seasickness, while Yamaha will showcase its Helm Master EX system with joystick driving for single to quad outboard applications. There are plenty of hands-on demonstrations for you to learn or you can try-before-you-buy to what kind of boat appeals to you.

Welcome to the 2023 Bay Bridge Boat Show, the largest in-water boat show north of Florida! This event is an ideal opportunity to mark the beginning of boating season on the Chesapeake Bay.

The show offers plenty of space for parking, food and beer stations, as well as a wide selection of boats from top brands allowing visitors to find their perfect match.

With convenient hours from 10 AM to 6 PM on April 14-16th and Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM, everyone can get their fill of all things boats. 

The event also features the PropTalk Demo Dock on Dock C where visitors can try out a variety of models first-hand and find which boat is the right fit for them. As an added bonus, kids under 12 years old are free.

But please note that for safety reasons pets are not allowed into the show grounds, with the exception to service animals with proper identification. The Annapolis Powerboat Show opens Thursday, kicking off what is expected to be a crowded weekend in Maryland’s capital.

With the U.S. Naval Academy also hosting the University of North Texas Saturday at 3:30 p.m., anyone attempting to do anything other than browse the boat show or watch football should prepare for major parking and traffic woes.

Visit Annapolis and Anne Arundel County, the local tourism board, says it does not track total visitation numbers connected to events, but anecdotally, it does know that many area hotel rooms (1,251 in Annapolis, plus 11,406 in the county) are booked.

“It is an exciting time,” Sheila Jones, general manager of the Annapolis Boat Shows, said in a statement. “Annapolis is the place to be and experience the best of the boating life in October.”

That excitement can be something of a headache for local residents not excited about more than 200 boat manufacturers from 10 countries coming to town.

On Thursday, Friday and Sunday, boat show organizers are encouraging attendees to buy advance passes to park at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium for $20. (They’ll be $25 at the gate.)

Show hours are 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. The free Annapolis Downtown Shuttle is scheduled to run until 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and until 8 p.m. on Sunday, making it easier for those parked at garages to get around.

Tickets for the boat show start at $20 per day. Children under 7 are free, and tickets for children 7 to 15 are available for $15. Although City Dock is normally a pet-friendly place to stroll, only service animals are permitted in the ticketed areas of the boat show. Otherwise, boat show patrons face far fewer restraints than at the average sports stadium: backpacks, outside food and drink are all permitted, and plenty of local restaurants will have boat show specials available.

When the harbormaster’s horn sounds Sunday evening, more than 300 powerboats will motor out, and more than 100 sailboats will coast in. Another event, the Annapolis Sailboat Show opens on Oct. 12 and runs until Oct. 15.

Tickets to the VIP Experience, presented by LaVictoire Finance, are also available for the entirety of the shows. This premier ticket provides an enhanced experience at the show featuring reserved parking close to the gate, delicious buffets, and all-day drink tastings in a relaxed and comfortable area.

United States Powerboat Show, Annapolis, Maryland

The United States Powerboat Show held in Annapolis, Maryland and formerly known as the " Annapolis Powerboat Show ", is the nation’s oldest and largest in-water powerboat exposition. The show features luxurious motor yachts, offshore fishing boats, trawlers and high performance boats in addition to the ubiquitous family cruisers, center console fishing boats along with inflatables and a multihull boat selection.  The show also features a large selection of marine equipment, boating gear, high-tech marine electronics, boat accessories, marine services, navigation equipment, insurance and financing plus special events including boat demonstrations and marine educational seminars.  City Dock and Harbor in Annapolis, Maryland is where the show activities will take place.

Boat shows are very important for manufacturers as they utilize these events as an opportunity to measure the acceptance of their newly introduced models. The boating industry is deeply influenced by such shows. The United States Powerboat Show is one of the most awaited boating events in the world. This powerboat show is one of the more reliable venues for exhibiting larger boats.
