2005 61 Viking Sport Cruisers – Jaclen – Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Walking up to Jaclen , a 2005 61 Viking Sport Cruisers, the profile is so sleek you almost can’t tell the yacht has a flybridge. Well, a sport bridge to be precise. Gilman Yachts currently has this 61-foot, three-stateroom yacht listed with an asking price of $449,000.

2001 Viking 55 Convertible – Jezebel – Vero Beach, Florida

For the offshore angler who’s in the market for a Viking Yachts sport fisherman, HMY Yacht Sales has Jezebel , a 2001 Viking 55 Convertible, listed with an asking price of $495,000. The 55-footer is tournament-ready with its 153-square-foot cockpit, 39-foot Rupp outriggers and well-equipped flybridge helm station.

Between the in-sole fish boxes, freezer, tackle locker, livewell, and six rod-holder rocket launcher, the 55C’s cockpit was set up for serious offshore fishing. The flybridge helm station offers clean sightlines for the captain to keep an eye ahead as well as on the spread when trolling.

Twin 1,300 hp MAN diesels give this 55-footer a reported 35-plus-knot top hop and a cruise speed of about 32 knots.

83m Feadship Project 712 launched

The 82.9-metre Feadship superyacht Project 712 has officially been launched from the Dutch yard's de Vries facility.

The steel and aluminium yacht was last sighted on transport to Aalsmeer for outfitting, where it travelled over 85 kilometres through the Dutch waterways by tug.

The yacht's naval architecture comes from de Voogt , while the interiors are understood to be by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design .

Little is known about the sub-2,000GT yacht, but initial images indicate a plumb bow, unfolding terraces in the beach club and a forward-loading tender garage. 

This reveal follows a sequence of highly-secretive Feadship sightings, including the 102.6-metre Ulysses and 74.7-metre Alvia . 

The shipyard also recently celebrated the delivery of its longest project to date – the 118-metre Launchpad .

The unelected Ariel Henry has agreed to demands to step down as violence and looting plague the country.

Haiti’s Prime Minister Ariel Henry has tendered his resignation and appealed for calm as the country descends into chaos.

The 74-year-old announced he would step aside late on Monday following an emergency meeting of regional nations. Haiti has been plagued by spiralling violence in recent weeks as armed gangs have taken control, calling for Henry to go.

Following the meeting in Jamaica, where Caribbean states called for a swift transition, Henry – who has led Haiti unelected since the 2021 assassination of its last president – spoke in a video address.

“The government that I am leading will resign immediately after the installation of [a transition] council,” Henry said. “I’m asking all Haitians to remain calm and do everything they can for peace and stability to come back as fast as possible.”

The erstwhile Haitian leader is currently stranded in the United States territory of Puerto Rico after being prevented by the threat from the gangs from returning home. A senior US official said he was free to remain there or travel elsewhere, though security in Haiti would need to improve for him to feel comfortable returning home.

The alliance of gangs, led by  Jimmy “Barbecue” Cherizier , went on the rampage when Henry left the country in late February, seeking to rally support for a  Kenya-led foreign police intervention  that his government had argued was necessary to restore order so elections could be held.

They had warned of civil war and genocide if Henry, who became prime minister after President Jovenel Moise’s assassination in 2021, did not step down.

Haiti has meanwhile descended into chaos, with widespread violence, looting of basic infrastructure and fears of a famine.

Regional leaders of the Caribbean Community and Common Market (CARICOM) had held the emergency summit to discuss a framework for a political transition, which the US had urged to be “expedited” as armed gangs wreaked chaos amid repeatedly postponed elections.

Henry, viewed as corrupt by many in Haiti, was not at the summit, which took place behind closed doors. The Associated Press news agency said a spokesperson for Henry’s office did not respond to calls seeking comment.

The prime minister was supposed to step down in February. He has been effectively locked out of the country since the unrest spiralled, landing in Puerto Rico last week after being denied entry to the Dominican Republic, which shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti.

Mohamed Irfaan Ali, Guyana’s president and the current chair of CARICOM, said the emergency talks were seeking to bring “stability and normalcy” to Haiti, the poorest country in the Western hemisphere.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken was also at the summit and promised an additional $100m for a United Nations-backed force to stabilise the country as well as $30m in humanitarian assistance.

Blinken said the meeting was “critical” for Haiti and the region.

The US backed “a proposal developed in partnership with CARICOM and Haitian stakeholders to expedite a political transition through a creation of a broad-based, independent presidential college”, the US State Department said in a statement.

The body would be comprised of two observers and seven voting members, including representatives from a number of coalitions, the private sector, civil society and one religious leader.

It would be tasked with meeting the “immediate needs” of Haitian people, enabling the security mission’s deployment and creating security conditions necessary for free elections, Blinken said.

A US official in Puerto Rico said Henry had confirmed his resignation in a call with Blinken.

Average temperatures and precipitation

The "mean daily maximum" (solid red line) shows the maximum temperature of an average day for every month for Ostrovnoy. Likewise, "mean daily minimum" (solid blue line) shows the average minimum temperature. Hot days and cold nights (dashed red and blue lines) show the average of the hottest day and coldest night of each month of the last 30 years. For vacation planning, you can expect the mean temperatures, and be prepared for hotter and colder days. Wind speeds are not displayed per default, but can be enabled at the bottom of the graph.

The precipitation chart is useful to plan for seasonal effects such as monsoon climate in India or wet season in Africa . Monthly precipitations above 150mm are mostly wet, below 30mm mostly dry. Note: Simulated precipitation amounts in tropical regions and complex terrain tend to be lower than local measurements.

Cloudy, sunny, and precipitation days

The graph shows the monthly number of sunny, partly cloudy, overcast and precipitation days. Days with less than 20% cloud cover are considered as sunny, with 20-80% cloud cover as partly cloudy and with more than 80% as overcast. While Reykjavík on Iceland has mostly cloudy days, Sossusvlei in the Namib desert is one of the sunniest places on earth.

Note: In tropical climates like in Malaysia or Indonesia the number of precipitation days may be overestimated by a factor up to 2.

Maximum temperatures

The maximum temperature diagram for Ostrovnoy displays how many days per month reach certain temperatures. Dubai , one of the hottest cities on earth, has almost none days below 40°C in July. You can also see the cold winters in Moscow with a few days that do not even reach -10°C as daily maximum.

Precipitation amounts

The precipitation diagram for Ostrovnoy shows on how many days per month, certain precipitation amounts are reached. In tropical and monsoon climates, the amounts may be underestimated.

The diagram for Ostrovnoy shows the days per month, during which the wind reaches a certain speed. An interesting example is the Tibetan Plateau , where the monsoon creates steady strong winds from December to April, and calm winds from June to October.

The wind rose for Ostrovnoy shows how many hours per year the wind blows from the indicated direction. Example SW: Wind is blowing from South-West (SW) to North-East (NE). Cape Horn , the southernmost land point of South America, has a characteristic strong west-wind, which makes crossings from East to West very difficult especially for sailing boats.

Since 2007, meteoblue has been archiving weather model data. In 2014 we started to calculate weather models with historical data from 1985 onwards and generated a continuous 30-year global history with hourly weather data. The climate diagrams are the first simulated climate data-set made public on the net. Our weather history covers any place on earth at any given time regardless of availability of weather stations.

The data is derived from our global NEMS weather model at approximately 30km resolution and cannot reproduce detail local weather effects, such as heat islands, cold air flows, thunderstorms or tornadoes.
