Nahoa yachts.
Crafted in partnership with the world’s leading shipyard and seasoned professionals who’ve built dozens of expedition yachts, Nahoa Yachts are purpose-driven catamarans made for those who dream big, pursue uncharted adventures, and explore with complete confidence. From icy fjords to sunlit tropical waters, Nahoa Yachts offer unparalleled safety, comfort, and performance—designed as the ultimate tool for boundless exploration.
When sailing around the world, you spend approximately 80% of the time at anchor. Leaning too heavily towards performance is a double-edged sword; performance vessels have narrow hulls and less space aboard. You arrive at destinations even earlier, spending more time at anchor, all while having less space.
Crossing oceans is an endurance test, not a race. Therefore, priority needs to be a balance of speed and comfort. While long, dark, squally nights cannot be avoided, enhancing the crew's alertness and reactivity through comfort and rest is essential.
Having completed one circumnavigation, Ben & Ashley prioritize crew safety above all else. The forward cockpit , skegged rudders , and aluminum's extreme ductility reinforce the Nahoa 55's commitment to safety at sea.
Living conditions aboard become uncomfortable with boat speeds over 12 knots. So it only makes sense to design a vessel that takes advantage of the load carrying capacity while optimized for 10-12 knots of boat speed. The Nahoa 55 will easily exceed 200 mile days offshore .
The worlds oceans are a vast playground. Whether kiting, scuba diving, fishing, surfing, or simply exploring with a full-sized capable dinghy, being able to carry a load is essential. The whole point of sailing the world is to have fun which requires toys and equipment.
Sailing around the world is a monumental task, from navigating foreign waters to procuring broken parts; it’s a full-time job and more. The Nahoa 55 is born from all the lessons we’ve learned over the past nine years and 50,000+ nautical miles from our first circumnavigation.
Aluminum is the ultimate material for long-range, expedition-style cruising yachts due to its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, and ductility (deforms before it breaks). Unlike fiberglass, aluminum doesn’t require constant polishing, and deck hardware such as cleats and stations are welded on, eliminating leaks from above.
Maintaining a boat is a constant, but aluminum significantly minimizes those efforts. Most great expedition vessels are still built in aluminum to this day.
Upon impact, carbon fiber tends to splinter, creating sharp, jagged edges. This splintering can compromise the structural integrity of the hull. Despite its strength, the brittleness of carbon fiber means it can be more susceptible to catastrophic failure when subjected to high-impact forces.
When impacted, fiberglass tends to crack and can develop a network of fractures radiating from the point of impact.
Aluminum hulls are extremely ductile, allowing them to absorb and distribute impact forces effectively. Instead of cracking or splintering, aluminum hulls typically deform, showing dents and bends rather than punctures.
Ductility (noun): The ability of a material to undergo significant plastic deformation before rupture, often characterized by its capacity to be stretched or bent without breaking.

The Nahoa 55 has been crafted not merely to comply with Lloyd’s SCC and relevant ISO rules for stability, buoyancy, and watertight compartments, but to surpass them. Given that the Nahoa 55 is conceived as an Expedition-style catamaran, having a design that not only meets but exceeds certifiable standards is of paramount importance.

First and foremost, we are still in the process of finalizing the details for the design. This phase is expected to be completed in the next few months. Currently, we are focusing on ironing out the remaining interior and exterior fit-out details.
When it comes to the build time at a professional yard, we anticipate it to range from 14 months to 18 months. We already have one exceptional yard that ticks all the boxes, and we are confident it will be an excellent choice. Stay tuned for more details coming soon!
Nahoa Expedition yachts aren’t for everyone. Every boat is a series of compromises. Too performant and you loose on comfort. Too comfortable and you loose on performance. After 10 years of sailing around the world and countless conversations with fellow cruisers and delivery captains, we have arrived at this performant yet practical expedition catamaran. Emphasis has been given to durability and safety yet not compromising too much on speed. She will be able to exceed 250 mile days at a 10 knot average.
We understand your anticipation and eagerness to plan your future adventures, and we promise to provide regular updates via email on the finalized design, base build price, recommended yards, and other exciting details. Review Lagoon 55 by topRik Team
Comment It is time to list what advantages this yacht has over others. Here’s what we think. • Space. Multihull World in their review rightfully called Lagoon 55 a “Space Ship” – this is the main feature of the vessel and has very little competitors in this category considering the overall length. The boat is pretty much made of lockers, hatches, drawers and cupboard all with big terraces for a group of friends or a large party. • Easy sails management. Yes, some people might shake their head at all-electric winches, but this yacht is not about showing off your regatta skills exactly. It’s is about comfort, including the management – you don’t need crewmen helping you with winches sprinkled all over the deck like at some sporty yachts. • Incredible quality of life on board. Teak soles, air conditioning, washer and dryer, full kitchen in the saloon any many other features make you want to live here indefinitely • Marketability. This yacht, thanks to 6-cabin version, crew cabin and very spacious layout in general, is a perfect fit for any businessman who looks to increase to size of his flotilla for tourism. Show more

Why settle for less when the perfect combination of value and performance is waiting for you?
S/V “Breanker” is described as a limited edition, custom build, Alex Simonis design, two hull, auxiliary powered, sloop rig sailing catamaran of approximately fifty-five feet overall. The vessel was originally constructed in South Africa by ETA Boats and commissioned for the crew charter market in the Caribbean. The hull shows performance catamaran cruiser lines with plumb stem sections, fine forward entry, generous full length beam, outward canting vertical hull sides and sugar scoop transom sterns. The vessel shows a fractional sloop rig and aft cockpit design. Hull color is white with black accent trim striping, black bottom, light gray decks, blue sail cover and white canvas awnings. BREANKER Logos show on the hull sides forward.
Breanker is a strongly built 55 foot catamaran, built in South Africa for offshore sailing and has sailed from there to the Caribbean, a good and fast sailor. In the Caribbean, she has for a number of years been one of the most booked catamarans in the luxury charter market, where she is still active.
She has more than enough room for the large group both on and below deck. The spacious saloon with plenty of room for indoor dining and sofa arrangements as well as a combined writing and navigation station and entertainment department with TV, video and radio as well as a bar. Also access to shared day toilet with shower.
There are quadruple cabins with plenty of space, seating arrangements and a private toilet and shower, which ensures privacy for everyone on board. Amidships to port there is also a single cabin, suitable for an adult or child. Furthermore, in the bow on the starboard side, there is a double cabin with toilet and sink. To starboard is the kitchen, which is well-equipped to that extent with a large refrigerator and two large freezers under the kitchen table.
In addition, a gas stove with four burners and an oven, and in addition also an electric oven and double sink with both a salt water tap and a fresh water tap, which gets its fresh water from the built-in watermaker that produces approx. 70 liters per hour.
On deck is the spacious cockpit with direct access from the salon. There are the two steering stations, each with its own steering wheel for optimal sailing performance. There are also two coolers, one of which is electric. The entire cockpit has a sun tarpaulin.
The aft deck has a bench with plenty of space to put on a snorkel and diving equipment which is at home in the large storage spaces in the bench. There is also an electric drinks fridge. There is easy access to the water on both sides of the sugar scoops with a ladder down into the water. Two fresh water showers, one on each side. Large gas grill mounted on the port rail.
The foredeck is dominated by two very large trampolines, with a center cushion and a bean bag chair on each trampoline. There is also a sun tarp for the trampoline. In addition, there is a built-in pulpit on both sides of the bow. On the rough deck is a large sun mattress and a built-in chair for the rough deck. Again lots of options to either prefer to be together as a group or to be a bit private.
The dinghy is a 14 foot solid bottom inflatable with a 40 HP Yamaha outboard motor.

Lagoon launched their first catamaran, the original 55, back in 1987. Fast forward to 2021, and the first new generation Lagoon 55 splashed representing almost 4 decades of development and design evolution from this famous French catamaran manufacturer.
Lagoon celebrated its 6,000th catamaran launch in 2021 since 1987, quite a milestone.
These days, the Lagoon brand is all about maximising comfort and space while maintaining decent performance under sail. On a test sail off Port Ginesta (our home base near Barcelona), we achieved 9.7 knots with the Code 0 up in a moderate breeze of 15 knots on a beam reach (apparent wind angle of 75). Those aren’t the kind of numbers that you’d hit on an Ocean Class from Catana , but still, pretty impressive for such a comfortable, spacious boat.
Photos Credit Nicolas Claris, Lagoon, Katamarans
Looking around this catamaran, they have certainly delivered on the comfort, and we’d say they have delivered on the space too.
The 55 represents a big step up from the 51 with a bigger beam, redesigned aft cockpit and transoms, a full flybridge, saloon skylights and an improved foredeck. Let’s take a look.
Of course, with all of that space comes weight: 27.7 tonnes of it with no kit on.
When the wind heads below 7 knots, your speed will drop away and you will need to motor sail, particularly at tighter angles to the wind. That is your compromise. With a breeze and the Code 0 up, she moves very well.

The next generation Lagoon 55 from Bordeaux has some interesting innovations. The sugar-scoops have been stretched aft making access to the boat even easier. The aft platform is flush with the aft cockpit deck, and with no aft beam the whole area opens up into a terrace at anchor.
Nauta Design are responsible for the interior design and overall they have done a great job.
The boat feels like a smaller Sixty 5 rather than a bigger 51, it’s the new generation alright. The L-shaped galley on the starboard side has a bar attached, and the huge sofa will soak up plenty of guests. The saloon table will fit 8-10 people when fully extended.
The overall feel is warm and cosy.
Heading through you arrive in the enormous saloon (27 m² or 290 sq ft) which is linked to the the forward cockpit via a large fully opening front window. Here you have another large sofa area and a deck that is flush with the nets. There is an option for a shade sail on carbon poles.
Helming is done from the flybridge with a rigid bimini that is accessed from the port side deck (there is an option for an additional access to starboard which would make the journey to the trampolines easier). The flybridge has forward and aft sunbathing areas, an outdoor galley / bar area, and forward-facing table and seating.
Visibility is great from the flybridge of course, and all lines come down to the foot of the mast (set further aft in keeping with the other models in this Lagoon generation) and the halyards and sheets are managed using three powerful winches. Given the size of this boat, you will need someone to help when coming into the marina.
The mainsail can be hoisted by a single crew member thanks to the electric winches.
During our test sail off Port Ginesta, we hit 7-8 knots in a 15 knot breeze with full mainsail and jib. Once the 154m² Code 0 was unfurled, we accelerated to almost 10 knots with the wind on the beam. Not bad for a boat weighing over 30 tonnes with all the gear on.
You can expect to sail at around 70% of TWS with the bigger sails flying off the bowsprit unless the wind really dies, and then you will need to motor-sail.
With the 272m² asymmetric spinnaker, you will maximise your speed heading on a broad reach as well. Lagoon are reporting 6 knots in only 7 knots of true wind, 8 knots in 10. You are not going to be breaking any speed records on the Lagoon 55, but the performance is nevertheless impressive for such a spacious boat.
There’s plenty of room for sails on this boat, it makes sense to stock the sail locker up with some big ‘uns.
The living space is enormous in the hulls thanks to the pronounced chimes.
The Lagoon 55 is available with four, five and six-cabin versions. In the four-cabin version , the owner’s cabin (17.5 m² or 188 sq. ft.) is aft in the starboard hull and fills two-thirds of the hull. The other three cabins each have an en-suite.
The Lagoon 55 (2001) is so different from the original model launched 34 years before, and represents how Lagoon’s design philosophy and DNA has changed in over 3 decades of development.
Performance catamaran enthusiasts may prefer the older model, but Lagoon has already sold more new 55s than the total number of original 55s produced. They know their market. The bottom line is that there is more market demand for this kind of package.
For comfort, space, sailing ability and value for money, this cruising catamaran ticks a lot of boxes.
As always, we will qualify this with “it depends on your options”, but to give you an idea, you will start the conversation at around €1.1m and head up to €1.4-1.5m depending on how you kit the boat out.
