Monte Carlo Yachts 76 Skylounge Review

Italy’s Monte Carlo Yachts expanded its lineup this past year with the MCY 70 Skylounge, and it’s adding to its offerings again with an MCY 76 Skylounge. Like the its smaller sistership, the MCY 76 Skylounge has the builder’s signature high freeboard and overlaid circular hullside windows. Enclosing the flybridge adds interior volume, offers all-season cruising and creates an aft terrace.

The main deck is broad like a penthouse suite. Hull No. 1 has bleached-oak woodwork, light fabrics and white overheads, which add to the salon’s open feel along with the 6-foot-8-inch headroom. A single-pane windshield is flanked by curved side glass, creating panoramic vistas and allowing in ambient light.

Nestled under the forward windshield is a raised U-shaped settee with twin pedestal tables—perfect for a small group or a quiet breakfast. There’s an additional lounge to port. Amidships is another oasis for relaxing and enjoying the views.

The galley is aft with off-white cabinetry that hides the appliances while keeping them easily accessible. Twin undercounter fridge units allow for drinks to be kept in one side and food in the other. A freezer drawer, dishwasher, microwave oven and stowage are all beneath, with cabinets above. The only thing protruding from the counter is the faucet for the stainless-steel sink with an etched-glass backsplash. Hardwood soles should make for easy cleanup.

Since the MCY 76 Skylounge is a semicustom yacht, the galley can be moved forward, creating space for a formal dining table amidships and a salon lounge aft. In either configuration, alfresco dining on the aft deck is possible with a transom bench seat and room for loose chairs. Dual staircases lead to the hydraulic swim platform and maintain the flow of traffic.

The yacht’s sky lounge is accessible via a floating staircase amidships in the salon and has an all-weather social area with easy access to the captain. The owner of this yacht is an enthusiastic owner-operator; apparently, at times, the hired captain has to ask the owner if he can drive.

The helm has three 24-inch Raymarine multifunction displays set into individual, leather-wrapped pods. The dash also has space for just about any electronic controller or display that’s desired. An overhead console is ideal for displays that just need a glance periodically. Twin helm seats allow for a guest to join the captain. The armrests for the center chair have controls for the chart plotters, autopilot and manual rudder control.

An electric hardtop and separate skylight add to the open feeling, along with 6-foot-6-inch headroom, side windows and double-wide glass doors aft. This space also has a convertible portside sofa and a desk that makes for an office with a view. There is room for a TV and wine chiller in the cabinetry.

Through the aft doors is a terrace with 142 square feet of real estate. Ringed with stainless-steel rails for safety, the terrace is sized for lounge chairs, a sofa and/or tables. To starboard are a fridge and barbecue. Owners can use this space as a private sun deck, or a spot to sip cocktails and watch the world go by.

The accommodations on the lower deck include an amidships master stateroom that spans the 18-foot-10-inch beam. With a king berth, the stateroom is flanked by MCY’s circular windows and has 6-foot-6-inch headroom. This owner opted for extra stowage, with dressers flanking the berth, as well as a walk-in closet with drawers and shelves. There’s also a washer and dryer.

The two guest staterooms have twin berths and en suite heads. Forward is the VIP stateroom, with a centerline berth and a head. Crew quarters are aft with two cabins.

The MCY 76 Skylounge is designed to Certification Category A, which means it’s seaworthy for voyages with winds over Force 8 (34 to 40 knots) and wave heights above 13 feet. Not that anyone wants to cruise in those conditions, but the yacht is built to deal with them. The Quick stabilization system, which includes fins and interceptors, assists in creating a stable ride. Construction is vacuum infusion to ensure resin saturation through the fiberglass, Kevlar and carbon-fiber layers, while saving weight and reducing emissions.

The Monte Carlo Yacht 76 Skylounge takes a proven design and adds a high level of customization, all-weather cruising comfort and increased interior volume. It’s a recipe that should have broad appeal.

Monte Carlo Yachts Unveils the new MCY 76 Skylounge

As officially announced, just a few months after the presentation of the MCY 70 Skylounge at the Miami Yacht Show 2020, Monte Carlo Yachts launched the second model of the Collection: the new MCY 76 Skylounge. The latest MCY’ creation triggers authentic elegance and timeless feelings, which can now be experienced on another level.

The MCY Skylounge Collection represents a totally new and different way of experiencing life onboard. Conceived for those who love to cruise in comfort all year round, it meets different needs featuring a wide additional volume offered by the enclosed Flybridge, without sacrificing the multiple exterior areas. Such concept has been designed and manufactured by an Italian shipyard for the first time.

The new MCY 76 Skylounge perfectly embodies the shipyard’s constant research for balance between functionality and aesthetics. Once again, the unmistakable touch of Nuvolari Lenard is clearly visible in the sleek exterior lines designed to assure a close connection with the sea. The wide windows and the enlarged iconic portholes aimed at guaranteeing an increased exposure to natural light throughout the yacht also bear the signature of the International design studio.

“Volumes, light and harmony are the hallmark of the MCY 76 Skylounge”, say Carlo Nuvolari and Dan Lenard. “We worked on designing a boat able to offer a new cruising experience with extreme levels of comfort and safety on board, to be enjoyed all year round. Having one of its major strengths in the multiple exterior areas, the new MCY’ creation displays a wide and versatile bow lounge area with sun pads and dining tables, where to relax and enjoy time with friends and family in complete safety and privacy.

Moreover, the spacious aft cockpit offers a comfortable area with an al fresco dining location in close connection to the main saloon. The mirrored fashion plates increase the level of protection from environmental factors, beside ensuring greater privacy. On the upper deck, the large aft terrace constitutes the true added value offering a customizable external projection of the enclosed Flybridge, which on the first unit features a lounge area located close to the open-air galley.

As the first model of the Skylounge Collection, the new MCY 76 Skylounge boasts a spacious enclosed Flybridge that emphasizes the level of well-being on board to be enjoyed in every season. This area incorporates the sole helm station, fully-equipped with top-edge technological elements. Such added volume becomes a second saloon with a large, customizable entertainment area perfect for relaxing moments, that can also be turned into the owner’s private studio with an inspiring 360-degree view over the horizon.

The enclosed Flybridge structure is made in Carbon Fibre, a lightweight material characterized by high strength and exceptional durability. Another gem of this area are the large and openable Skylights, that allow owners and guests to gaze up at the sky while cruising.

The main deck presents a flexible layout featuring a combination of comfortable sofas, a fully equipped galley and a large dining location with plenty of storage space available, that can be rearranged according to the owner’s preferences. Common to the second generation of MCY 76, the main saloon of MCY 76 Skylounge is also characterised by an enhanced exposure to natural light. An elegant internal staircase in steel and wood leads to the enclosed Flybridge, without interrupting the space around nor impeding the view.

“The levels of comfort and privacy on board the new MCY 76 Skylounge are maximized, thanks to the versatile layouts and the different possible uses of both the main deck and the upper deck saloon,” says Sergio Loiacono, MCY’ Sales and Marketing Director. “With the second model of the Collection we are continuing our path of innovation, introducing a new concept of onboard experience, able to match the desires of freedom and well-being of owners worldwide.”

On the lower deck, the new MCY 76 Skylounge offers comfortable accommodation for up to eight guests: a full-beam owner cabin, a spacious VIP cabin and two comfortable guest cabins, each one with its dedicated ensuite bathroom. Loyal to the MCY Collection, the owner cabin of the new MCY’ model features the iconic Monte Carlo Yachts’ portholes. In this case, the wider elements offer increased brightness and a better view over the sea.

The spacious full-headroom crew quarters located aft are also fully customizable, with the option of having up to two crew cabins or a combination of one spacious cabin with a galley and dinette in lieu of a second cabin.

The overall interior decor is composed by bright lacquered panels and warm natural maple wood surfaces, enriched by chromed details, while reflective materials contribute to further enhancing the lightness onboard.

The harmonic atmosphere is given by textures and patterns introduced with an accurate choice of fabrics, marbles and glass mosaics present in the bathrooms. The owners can choose among a wide range of high-quality materials in order to decor the yacht according to their needs and desires.

With the new MCY Skylounge Collection, the Italian shipyard continues to deliver unique bespoke solutions to all of its owners that now can enjoy special moments onboard with their family and friends all year round.

The new Monte Carlo Yachts MCY 76 has finally been revealed during an exclusive event, alongside the MCY 66 and MCY 70 .

This is the third yacht of the new next generation MCY line, which was recently unveiled at Porto Piccolo, in the Gulf of Trieste. These three new yachts for 2019 mark a new generation for the timeless elegance that has distinguished the Italian yacht maker for over a decade.

The new MCY 76 stands for the company’s ongoing, organic evolution, which seeks to maintain its authentic, elegant and timeless appeal. This evolution is built from continuously improving and innovating upon MCY's prized core characteristics and defining traits.

Like her predecessor, the 70 Skylounge , the latest creation by Monte Carlo Yachts perfectly embodies the balance between functionality and aesthetics. The lines, the wide windows and the enlarged portholes, designed to offer maximum contact with the external environment, one again bear the signature of the well-known Nuvolari Lenard design studio.

Very bright, with a breath-taking 360-degree view, the large aft terrace on the upper deck, an external projection of the enclosed flybridge , is the plus of this boat. Customizable, if desired, with outdoor galley and sitting area.

The main strengths of the new model are, as usual, the large outdoor areas. On the main deck, the sun pads and tables in the bow characterize the comfortable and safe lounge zone . In the stern, the spacious cockpit houses a comfortable dining area, cleverly connected to the salon. The sophisticated side handrails guarantee total privacy and protection .

Featuring a very flexible layout , the main deck can be arranged according to the owner’s needs. It accommodates some comfortable sofas, a fully-equipped galley and a spacious dining room. The salon, positioned in the middle or aft depending on the galley version you choose, is flooded with a huge amount of natural light. An elegant steel-and-wood staircase , whose light structure is perfectly integrated into the overall environment without cluttering the surrounding space or obstructing the view, leads to the upper enclosed flybridge.

The lower deck of the MCY 76 Skylounge can accommodate up to 8 people in total comfort. The sleeping area, in fact, consists of a full-beam double cabin (with enlarged portholes in this version), a spacious VIP cabin and two comfortable guest cabins, each with en-suite bathroom for a comfortable and luxury cruising experience.
