Lazzarini Royal Alpha One

Lazzarini Design is no stranger to an outrageous yacht concept. Last year, the Italian manufacturer unveiled a bonkers flying superyacht design and followed it up with a visually stunning 226-foot concept with a massive hole in its center. Its newest creation brings that distinct sense of fun down to an approachable scale.

Dubbed the Royal Alpha One , the family-friendly design is 60 feet long and includes a rooftop deck with a glass-bottomed hot tub. Its striking green, black and silver exterior is made of glass and carbon fiber, while its interior is handsomely furnished with an array of leather upholstery and light-washed woods. You’ll find three ensuite staterooms, as well as a luxe dining room onboard.

And don’t let its size fool you: this concept falls directly in line with Lazzarini’s larger high-powered yachts . The Royal Alpha One was designed with Volvo ‘s IPS 950 propulsion system in mind, according to HiConsumption . In that configuration, the vessel could reach a top speed of 40 knots. There’s also the option to upgrade to a hydrogen propulsion system that ensures zero carbon emissions.

Fans of the Rome-based design house will know it’s led by Pierpaolo Lazzarini. The 40-year-old Italian designer spent years in the automotive field before launching the company and believes in “a different design approach,” according to the team’s website. To create these one-of-a-kind yacht concepts, the studio—which also creates cars—works with customers on everything from animation to texturing, as well as programming and engineering via the use of the latest 3-D tech.

It’s unlikely you’ll be able to purchase the eye-catching Royal One Alpha today, but keep your eyes on the Lazzarini website for more details. Check out more images of the yacht below.

pierpaolo lazzarini’s colossea mega-yacht features a detachable airship upper-structure

The mega-yacht/airship nods to the historic n1 airship.

Measuring 204 meters (699 ft) in length, the Colossea mega-yacht is an itinerant floating docking station for a detachable airship. The project by Pierpaolo Lazzarini is a tribute to the N1 airship (later renamed Norge) which took off for its first test flight from Rome a century ago. With Colossea, Lazzarini reimagines its iconic design with the materials and technologies of today, proposing the same measurements with upgraded materials and propulsion. Entirely conceived to be built in carbon fiber from the internal structures to the exterior blimp surface, the airship will be moved by 8 electric engines, with its upper structure comprising a take-off/landing area shaped to the blimp’s form.

conceptualized by pierpaolo lazzarini

Italian designer Pierpaolo Lazzarini pays homage to the Norge, a semi-rigid Italian-built airship that, with an overflight on 12 May 1926, completed the first verified trip of any kind to the North Pole, as well as being the first aircraft to fly over the polar ice cap between Europe and America. Inside Colossea’s blimp, 22 isolated compartments host various installations such LH2 tanks (liquid hydrogen) batteries, cabins, and all internal structures. The overall volume of the carrier gas compartments have 30,000 mc which grants the aircraft enough space to release sufficient H2 into any compartment. The LH2 is released into the compartments to adjust the weight balancing needed and also as H2 reserve in case of gas loss.

The same LH2 is devoted to supplying the necessary energy requirement of each engine, capable of pushing the flying vessel to an estimated maximum speed of 165 km/h (about 90 knots), while the Yacht instead is pushed from 3 HTS engines on a maximum speed of 22 knots. Likewise, airship propellers can increase and support the efficiency of the sailing. The new airship with 10,000kg of payload and armament can now accommodate up to 24 passengers (plus 10 crew members), though instead, the yacht offers 22 dislocated guest suites and multiple deck with pools on the rear part for a total load capacity up to 44 guests and 20 crew members.

Simple Flying

Bonkers: a look at lazzarini's concept 'air yacht'.

To fly or to sail? That's the question. At least, it was. The futuristic Air Yacht allows you to fly and sail in the most luxurious way possible.

Italians are renowned for being at the forefront of design innovation . The new "Air Yacht" concept, developed by the Italian design studio Pierpaolo Lazzarini, is the latest proof of this incredible capacity. As the name suggests, the new Air Yacht is both a yacht that can sail the sea and a private jet that can fly its owner across the world. Let's have a closer look at this astonishing piece of futuristic design together.

The structure of the Sky Yacht

It might sound like sci-fiction, but it is true. Or, at least, the blueprint is already a reality. The Italian design studio Lazzarini has developed a luxurious and eco-friendly flying yacht. But what would it look like?

Imagine a 150-meter-long vessel connected by four bridges to two side blimps for a total width of 80 meters. Each of the two floating blimps would be divided into hives, or cells, acting as helium compartments. Indeed, when the private owner of the Air Yacht wants to take to the sky, all they have to do is release helium, compressed in tanks, in the two blimps.

On the other hand, when the owner is tired of seeing the world from above, they can decide to sail the sea. Indeed, in the lower part, the two balloons incorporate inflatable bases to allow the Air Yacht to float on the water. The depressurization of helium and its ballast anchor enables the Air Yacht to sail at a speed of five knots.

Four counter-rotating engines of 950 horsepower (hp) each are attached to the outer sides of the blimps. These are powered by ultra-light batteries and solar panels, allowing the Air Yacht to fly at a maximum speed of 60 knots for more than two days straight at zero emissions . Additionally, the entire structure has been designed to be built using carbon fiber, a high-strength and lightweight material.

With the use of helium, lightweight batteries, solar panels for the propulsion of the four engines, and lightweight carbon for the structure, the Air Yacht is at the forefront of sustainable air travel. In a statement, Lazzarini design studio stated:

"With the Air Yacht, there is a way to sail the sky without emissions damaging the future"

The Sky yacht's living spaces

If the external structure of the Air Yacht has the 'wow' factor, wait until you see what's inside...

The central, 80-meter-long, torpedo-shaped structure hosts a spacious living room and a dining room. Four carbon-made bridges, two on each side of the main structure, connect it to the two side blimps. Here, the owner's guests can find ten en-suite staterooms, five in each balloon. All ten suites offer breathtaking 360-degree views. The owner's master cabin, shown in the photo below, is instead located in the Air Yacht's central part, also offering a stunning 360-degree view.

Therefore, the Air Yacht can host up to 22 guests in 11 cabins. On the rooftop, guests will enjoy a swimming pool, while a helipad enables helicopters to take off and land to transfer the owner and their guests to the dry land. Indeed, the Air Yacht's dimensions prevent it from being parked at a marina. Besides the helipad, the Air Yacht also features a retractable staircase, allowing the guests to board a smaller boat to reach the harbor.

The estimated price of the Air Yacht is a whopping $627,511,500. Pierpaolo Lazzarini has promised the private owner who has commissioned the Air Yacht, a German businessman, to have a first-scale model prototype lifted in the air by the end of 2022. Additionally, a series of varying designs with different lengths is in the early phases of the engineering and prototyping process.

Concept design of the Colossea mega-yacht worth £787 million

The design behind a £787,000,000 mega-yacht Colossea – which comes with its own detachable airship – has been revealed.

The 699 ft Colossea has been created by Italian design studio Lazzarini.

It pays homage to the N1 airship, later renamed Norge, that completed the first journey to the North Pole in 1926.

Colossea features an airship that can set off on adventures independent from the main yacht structure.

When the captain decides it’s time for flight, the yacht follows the procedures to unlock the electromagnetic blocks that keep the airship mounted and unhook the winches to release the airship’s lift.

The aircraft, which boasts a 10,000 kg payload capacity, can accommodate up to 24 passengers, plus ten crew members.

The yacht offers 22 guest suites and multiple deck with pools on the rear part for a total load capacity up to 44 guests and 20 crew members .

Lazzarini say: ‘On the Colossea yacht, the airship reimagines its iconic design with the materials and technologies of today, proposing the same measurements of the 1924’s model with upgraded materials, layout and propulsion.

‘Colossea is a concept design, but the estimated cost for the real construction is about $1B.’

Lazzarini Design’s spaceship-styled yacht holds a panoramic rooftop jacuzzi

Italian designs studio Lazzarini Design is at it again with yet another eye-popping water vessel challenging the limits of design that could well be the future of leisure in premium style. Meet the Royal Alpha One yacht that’ll instantly appeal to the fat-pocketed oligarchs, since it is meant for pure indulgence at sea. Even better, the hull is ready for construction for buyers, with an estimated time of 16 months to completion.

The avant-garde vessel measuring 20 meters in length is all about the luxurious cruising experience for days on end. The supercar-like flowing design is dominated by sharp features and loads of glass surfaces that lend it an ultra-dynamic persona. If you remember the Royal Jet Capsule by the design studio, there is more than one trace of similarity between the two. One cannot deny the spaceship-like character of the yacht highlighted by the private jet-like layout, stylish chairs, couches and dining area. There are spacious lounge sections on the main deck, and the three bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms in the lower living level will make the owners and guests feel right at home.

Designer: Lazzarini Design Studio

That’s only the usual bit of this $4 million vessel – highlight here is the swanky panoramic jacuzzi paired with a large sunbed. For most this will be the favorite spot on this yacht to soak up the sun and surrounding views of the seas. Nature lovers can also soak in the natural beauty on the rear section of the vessel where the open space hones a retractable swim pool platform. The carbon-fiber structure on all sides is complemented by the large glass surfaces, so you’ll get breathtaking views even when in the cozy confines of the yacht.

Of course, a yacht is no fun without the water toys, so the Royal Jet Capsule houses them in the dedicated spacious garage. The yacht is proposed to get a twin/triple Volvo propulsion system which will propel it to a top speed of around 32 – 42 knots. Buyers can also customize it to have full electric sailing, powered by hydrogen. The electric propulsion model will have a range of 120 miles whereas the diesel-powered counterpart gets 680 miles on a full tank.

For now, the Italian design studio has constructed the hull of the yacht with the superstructure to follow soon. The pace at which they have taken things forward in the development of the real version shows their confidence in the design, so rich brats better keep an eye on this one.

Inside the jaw-dropping $1B superyacht equipped with its own detachable blimp

An unbelievable $1 billion superyacht that comes with its own detachable airship is gearing up to dominate the seas.

Plans for the jaw-dropping Colossea — a 699-foot-long cruiser — were debuted this week by Italian designer Pierpaolo Lazzarini, famous for his futuristic designs.

The sleek and futuristic vessel looks much like any other superyacht coasting across the ocean, except for the incredible blimp stationed on its upper deck, equipped with technology that would allow it to take off for its own voyage from the middle of the ocean.

“The Colossea mega-yacht is an itinerant floating docking station for the detachable airship,” Lazzarini’s namesake design studio said in a statement.

The concept was born from the same design group that introduced the Plectrum: a futuristic, 242-foot superyacht capable of traveling at speeds of 86 miles per hour above the water line — similar to a hoverboard.

The conceptual design for the Colossea was crafted as a tribute to the N1 airship Norge, which made the first trip of any kind to the North Pole nearly a century ago.

The Colossea’s blimp replicates the same iconic design and measurements as its predecessor but with modern materials and propulsion.

It would also include its own major upgrade — a super-yacht with a take-off and landing strip perfectly formed to the blimp’s curvature.

When the captain decides it’s time for flight, the yacht follows the procedures to unlock the electromagnetic blocks that keep the airship mounted and unhook the winches to release the airship’s lift.

Up to 24 lucky passengers, plus 10 crewmembers, can fit inside the blimp.

The yacht is an impressive feat of design in its own right — it offers 22 guest suites and multiple decks with indoor and outdoor pools on the rear.

It also had space on its deck for a helicopter pad, a typically grand feature that pales in comparison to the blimp.

Up to 44 guests and 20 crew members can enjoy the yacht.

While only still a conceptual design, the Colossea would cost an estimated $1 billion to construct.

Lazzarini Design reveals 27m Ferrari-inspired yacht concept

Related articles.

Lazzarini Design has revealed a Ferrari-inspired 27 metre superyacht concept named GranTurismo Mediterranea (GTM).

Taking inspiration from the design of a classic Ferrari supercar, the concept is characterised by a striking red superstructure made from light carbon fibre. “We tried to imagine how a Ferrari of the seas would look like," the studio said.

The concept has a top speed is 70 knots thanks to a hybrid propulsion system consisting of triple Man v12 engines, an Arneson transmission and a central Hamilton Jet drive.

“While the propellers are limited in steering, the jet will provide thrust in acceleration and turning degrees at high speeds,” the studio said.

The standout design feature is the folding transom on the aft deck, which features a huge Ferrari-style “bumper” at the stern of the concept. The GTM features a racing car-style cockpit while the main saloon with two large sofas sits aft and leads to one of the two double guest cabins.

Accommodation is for four in two cabins, with one each found on the main deck and lower deck. Meanwhile, crew accommodation is for three in two cabins.

It comes after the studio revealed the 85 metre superyacht concept named Icaria .

Council will review new design plans for Yacht Club

On Wednesday, council members will review design options for the new structures and amenities that will go on the property.

The yacht club opened in 1962 and was the gathering place for the first residents of the city.

“I think the bigger, the better for the city hall area, with more rooms and more opportunity,” said Shadrach.
