Quality Comfort Performance Safety

Elegance that’s more than skin deep...

The state-of-the-art technologies that go into each Vision 444 goes a lot deeper than their stately, head-turning, modern styling. Extensive research and testing combined with the latest composite engineering makes the Vision 444 catamarans as safe, modern, mobile, technologically advanced and as cutting edge as you can get.

The result is a blue water sailing catamaran that’s incredibly strong, sails efficiently, is spacious and forgiving – with the kind of all-round abilities, appeal, level of finish and attention to detail that you would never expect from a catamaran in this size and class.

2020 Vision 444

vision yacht 444

There is an unmistakable feeling of certainty one gets from owning a Vision 444.

Certainty that it will keep its good looks, sailing appeal and investment value for decades. And certainty that you made the right choice.

The Vision 444 delivers assertive results in all categories – Performance, Safety, Styling and Ergonomics – making it one of the surest, most principled and intelligent choices in a modern catamaran.

And one that offers the highest levels of owner satisfaction.

Inspired by unlimited freedom

Whether you’re choosing a Vision 444 for your own use, or whether you intend to use it for charters; you can rest assured that your catamaran will give you decades of carefree leisure and pleasure. The performance it delivers and level of creature comforts you’ll experience exceed expectations and accepted standards.

The advanced composite engineering ensures strength, performance and weight-saving.

Premium components that work seamlessly with each other have been selected to deliver both a superbly tuned catamaran and an intuitive, user-friendly environment.

The helm design affords the skipper an elevated vantage point of the entire deck and sails which makes docking that much easier.

Built by Sailors for Sailors

The Vision 444 has been built by sailors for sailors and there are key elements on the Vision 444 to be highlighted:

All the decks are level and clear of ropes, giving you the confidence to move around safely.

The mainsheet bridle system is easy and safe to use in conjunction with the self tacking jib.

The balance between the main and jib sails are perfect.

The rudders are calibrated to work in conjunction with sails meaning there is no stalling in tacks or general turning. The Vision 444 can get through a tack with hardly any speed loss.

A unique access door system in the cockpit gunwale allows easy access from the dock to board the Vision 444, and it also makes it easy to replenish from a tender.

The Vision 444 has a dedicated locker system in the port and starboard hulls. Large, easily accessible storage allows you to open one door to access all your through-hull fittings and pumps, in one contained area.

The engine rooms are easy to access. Lift up the lid (with the mattress) like a car bonnet and pull out the locking lever-stay to secure. There is a dedicated seat to sit on when working on the engine and dedicated tools in each engine room which makes servicing a pleasure.

The Vision 444 navigation station faces forward which is a great feature when making passage. Sitting in this area you get a clear view looking forward, so when you’re filling in logs you can still keep an eye on the ocean.

The unbelievably spacious cockpit has numerous large lockers that can store cockpit cushions, fishing rods and even short surfboards.

The diesel engines and the generator can easily be removed through the hatches and locker lids. This is a huge benefit if a problem occurs. Engines can be removed without disassembling the vessel.

Everything on hand

The considered design and manufacturing expertise of the Vision 444’s sporty and sleek exterior permeates to the interior, where efficient use of space has been optimized.

Each and every counter, unit, fixture and fitting has been masterly crafted, and the generous saloon, cabins, galley and cockpit echo unmistakable quality. The interior of the Vision 444 has been styled to match the new age aesthetic of the exterior.

Designed to have everything you need ‘at hand’ the layout is one of the most accessible and durable living spaces to date: there is nothing gimmicky here, and there are no loose components, only quality installations that will stand the test of time.

Our luxurious living philosophy extends to the outdoors allowing the opportunity to relax and socialize, or sunbathe in the wind-protected area of the cockpit.

Motor, Performance and Power options

In building the Vision 444 we have selected the optimum components which work seamlessly with each other, delivering both a superbly tuned catamaran yacht and an intuitive and user-friendly environment. It is this insight into what makes a perfect yacht, that makes the Vision 444 so much more than the sum of its parts.

The Vision 444 has the ideal weight-distributed engine placement (beneath the aft cabins), which allows for easier access, more space to work and ample lighting while performing maintenance or repairs at sea. Additionally, the engine position is much safer as there is no chance of it being swept overboard or the engine compartment being swamped by a wave. Even its electrical system is innovative.

The Vision 444 has a state-of-the-art 24v DC system which is as easy to maintain as it is to understand. The lightweight installation has convenient access points throughout the yacht which enables you to identify the source of any electrical problem, in the unlikely event you ever have one. The system is simple and effective, and you don’t need an electrical degree to keep it in perfect order.

vision yacht 444

Composite Strength

A sense of certainty in any sailing vessel begins with strength. We use an innovative resin infusion and gel-coat technology to form the Vision 444’s durable hulls. Decks are extra-tough while still maintaining impressive performance due to the weight-saving process.

The result is a better, lighter, faster, stronger and safer vessel which will hold its investment value longer.

  • The process allows for a much stronger and lighter boat that improves performance.
  • Optimisation of resin and fibres in the laminate structure increase strength.
  • A highly controlled resin infusion process resulting in a mono-structure, means there is no temperature variation during the construction of the components, so every square inch of the hull is as strong and durable as the next.
  • Powerful vacuums during the infusion processes reduce the ambient moisture in the forming process, creating integrity and quality that allows the sandwich composite construction to bond perfectly.
  • The gel-coat is sprayed on and as a result can be applied in uniformity, giving a superb even finish creating the perfect platform for the processes that follow.
  • Our closed environment methodology eliminates operator error.
  • The resin infusion process sets stronger, far lighter and is longer lasting.
  • The speed and precision of the process allows us to build yachts faster, which in turn results in a significantly shorter time between ordering and delivery.

Sunday, april 11, 2021, vision 444 - key west boat show,  key west boat show and additional information on the vision yachts 444.

We had a great trip down to Key West (okay, actually it was the next island up; Stock Island). The Stock Island Marina Village and adjoining Perry Hotel are absolutely beautiful.  If you are in the area and need a place to stay (and have the means!), it is a great resort.  We were fortunate in that we booked it early for the event and got the room at 1/3 the price it was the week leading up to the boat show.  Admittedly, it was Spring Break, so that may be their peak price for the year for all I know.

We had spoken to Tommy and Amy from Sail Away Catamarans a few times before the event and even had a chance to speak with Thomas and Terri, the owners of Kon-Tiki ahead of time too.  What an absolutely great group of people!

Great list. Doesn't seem to include solar? Is it not standard? Thanks

Very Sorry Dex, I missed this when it came in and just came across it now. Solar is optional, however most owners are opting for quite a few LG panels. We will have 3000 watts of solar on your boat.

Vision 444: A Cat That’s Ready To Roam

  • By Contributing Partner
  • December 7, 2023

Vision 444 catamaran

After stepping aboard the Vision 444 catamaran at the fall 2023 Annapolis Sailboat Show, it was immediately apparent that this was a cat of a different sort compared with the several other midsize production models on display. Let’s start with the handy fold-down boarding doors located on the aft quarter of each hull that allow you to take a simple, convenient step into the cockpit. It was an innovation introduced on an earlier model that was designed around the needs of a handicapped sailor and then adopted because, well, it was a good idea.

Then right inside the salon, to starboard, there sat a full-fledged forward-facing nav station. Does any other cat builder bother with a dedicated piloting space these days? Can’t think of one, but at sea, it’s mighty handy to have a place to settle in and update the log, work the computer, or check the charts—all while keeping an eye on instruments, systems, and the sea ahead.

At its yard in Knysna, South Africa, Vision Yachts produces one model, the 444, and each boat, so far at least, seems to evolve with the technology and gear available. Buyers’ ideas are also considered and put to good use when they make sense, said David Stein, the owner of Jubilee, Hull No. 8.

Stein picked up Jubilee at the yard in Knysna, sailed to Mozambique for a shakedown cruise, then crossed the Atlantic, via St. Helena, to Grenada. After a season in the Caribbean, he sailed the boat north (the rig is Intracoastal Waterway-friendly, he reports), arriving in Chesapeake Bay in time for the show. After 14,000 miles at sea, he said he was looking forward to sailing many more.

Vision 444 salon

During a walk-through, he was meticulous about detailing innovations developed before his boat was built, and what’s available on models that can be ordered now. The evolving design means each new boat carries the latest equipment, such as the lithium power system on Stein’s boat.

Vision’s hulls, deck, and house are vacuum-infused using vinylester resin and foam coring. The hulls, which sport mini keels, are fabricated with a matrix of watertight boxes beneath the soles. Composite water and fuel tanks are also built into the hulls.

Jubilee is powered by a pair of 40 hp Yanmar diesels (38 hp Nanni diesels are standard on current models), and the engines are located under the aft berth in each hull. The beds lift up, providing good all-round access to the motors, and maintenance can be done out of the elements. Despite their interior location, under power, the Vision was a relatively quiet boat with sound levels ranging from 60 to 68 decibels, depending on engine speed. (The Nanni’s are approximately 30 percent quieter.)

Owner's cabin

On Jubilee , the owner’s cabin is located aft in the starboard hull, and includes a spacious head and shower. Far forward, in place of a guest cabin, there’s a handy tool shop/man cave, complete with workbench and vice for making repairs underway. In the port hull, there’s an athwartships berth forward, with a head and shower in the forepeak; a double berth aft, also with head and shower, is located aft.

Large storage lockers sit amidships in each hull. Inside them, electrical circuits, systems and plumbing are easily accessed; every wire and hose is clearly labeled.

Jubilee was well-mannered under sail. The rack-and-pinion steering is silky smooth and responsive. In 10 to 12 knots of wind, our speeds were consistently in the mid 7s to over 8 knots in the puffs.

Seated at the raised helm station, with sail-control lines within easy reach and with good visibility all around, the boat loped comfortably along. With its practical layout, plenty of solar power and lithium batteries for living off the grid, and a well-thought-out sail plan, clearly the 444 is a boat built for sailors with visions of going places.

Sail Away Catamarans

Built by sailors for sailors, the Vision 444 has been inspired by thousands of miles spent at sea understanding the demands of a vessel and her crew, years of experience building custom catamarans, and a passion to produce the perfect blue water cruiser. Boat builder James Turner and Vision Yachts have created this 44’4” lightweight performance vessel with unique features and an impressive standard inventory that sets this catamaran above the rest.

Unique Features

The layout of the 444 has been carefully thought through with every detail… The cockpit offers ample seating with a large teak table. In the saloon, the U-shaped settee is standard with leather and windows are single panel flat glass.

All windows and hatches in the saloon provide a crystal-clear vision of the horizon. The forward-facing navigation station in the saloon is perfectly placed. GPS can link up to the TV for a massive chart plotter display. The flooring is flush throughout and the L- shaped door between the cockpit and saloon doubles the space while open and offers that indoor/outdoor living style.

A sailor first and foremost, our man is not so much a jack-of-all-trades but more master of them all when it comes to building a catamaran. He developed the specifications for the Vision 444, a robust yet lightweight and high-performance blue water catamaran. Inside, this multihull boasts particularly generous headroom (6’11”/2.1 m in the nacelle and 6’2”/1.89 m in the cabins). The construction is in infusion, and all technical components are carefully assembled to facilitate maintenance operations. The 444, currently the only model in the range, was launched in 2019. Since then, some fifteen units have been built, with the pace accelerating over the last 12 months to 5 hulls. Length overall: 44’4” (13.5 m) Waterline length: 43’ (13.1 m) Beam: 24’11” (7.6 m) Draft: 3’9” (1.15 m) Air draft: 65’3” (19.9 m) Light displacement: 19,840 lbs (9 t) Maximum load: 5,500 lbs (2.5 t) Mainsail: 719 sq ft (66.8 m²) Self-tacking jib: 313 sq ft (29.1 m²) Engines: 2 x 37 HP Fuel: 200 US gal (757 l) Water: 220 US gal (833 l)

Boat Overview

Hull material, boat length (loa), see all details, boat description.

Strange Glow Over Moscow Skies Triggers Panic as Explosions Reported

B right flashes lit up the night sky in southern Moscow in the early hours of Thursday morning, new footage appears to show, following reports of an explosion at an electrical substation on the outskirts of the city.

Video snippets circulating on Russian-language Telegram channels show a series of flashes on the horizon of a cloudy night sky, momentarily turning the sky a number of different colors. In a clip shared by Russian outlet MSK1.ru, smoke can be seen rising from a building during the flashes lighting up the scene.

Newsweek was unable to independently verify the details of the video clips, including when and where it was filmed. The Russian Ministry of Emergency situations has been contacted via email.

Several Russian Telegram accounts said early on Thursday that residents of southern Moscow reported an explosion and a fire breaking out at an electrical substation in the Leninsky district, southeast of central Moscow.

Local authorities in the Leninsky district told Russian outlet RBC that the explosion had happened in the village of Molokovo. "All vital facilities are operating as normal," Leninsky district officials told the outlet.

The incident at the substation in Molokovo took place just before 2 a.m. local time, MSK1.ru reported.

Messages published by the ASTRA Telegram account, run by independent Russian journalists, appear to show residents close to the substation panicking as they question the bright flashes in the sky. One local resident describes seeing the bright light before losing access to electricity, with another calling the incident a "nightmare."

More than 10 villages and towns in the southeast of Moscow lost access to electricity, the ASTRA Telegram account also reported. The town of Lytkarino to the southeast of Moscow, lost electricity, wrote the eastern European-based independent outlet, Meduza.

Outages were reported in the southern Domodedovo area of the city, according to another Russian outlet, as well as power failures in western Moscow. Electricity was then restored to the areas, the Strana.ua outlet reported.

The cause of the reported explosion is not known. A Telegram account aggregating news for the Lytkarino area described the incident as "an ordinary accident at a substation."

The MSK1.ru outlet quoted a local resident who speculated that a drone may have been responsible for the explosion, but no other Russian source reported this as a possible cause.

Ukraine has repeatedly targeted Moscow with long-range aerial drones in recent months, including a dramatic wave of strikes in late May.

On Sunday, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the region's air defense systems had intercepted an aerial drone over the city of Elektrostal, to the east of Moscow. No damage or casualties were reported, he said.

The previous day, Russian air defenses detected and shot down another drone flying over the Bogorodsky district, northeast of central Moscow, Sobyanin said.

There is currently no evidence that an aerial drone was responsible for the reported overnight explosion at the electrical substation in southern Moscow.
