Sailing superyacht Heureka launched by Holland Jachtbouw
Holland Jachtbouw has launched the 45m Bill Dixon-designed sailing superyacht Heureka at its yard in Zaandam, The Netherlands.
The yacht’s systems include an automatic bimini and a dodger system, plus a telescopic lifting keel engineered by the yard to avoid disrupting with the interior accommodation. The interior design was commissioned with Rhoades Young and a minimalistic ethos pervades in the sleek high performance sloop, designed to suit the light airs of the Mediterranean.
‘We are delighted to see Heureka move onto the next phase of her sea trials,’ says Roeland Franssens, a director at Holland Jachtbouw . ‘The engineering and project teams at HJB have worked around the clock to ensure that she was launched on time and that all systems are operational. We are extremely pleased with the outcome of the innovative, unique features incorporated in the build of this vessel.’
After the yacht’s launch her mast was stepped and Heureka will soon begin sea trials in open water to run the onboard systems.
The launch is the latest news we have received from the yard since the sailing superyacht This Is Us was relaunched after seven-month refit at Holland Jachtbouw . The 41.83m aluminium-hull schooner was designed inside and out by Andre Hoek and built by HJB. The refit included a complete hull repaint and maintenance of her keel, bulb and lifting keel box. The main engine, generator, water maker, hydraulic pumps, and her navigation and communication equipment received full service, along with all winches and safety equipment found on board.

About marisol.
Sailing yacht Marisol (formerly known as Heureka and YIII or Y3 ), is an impressive 45 metre superyacht, which was launched by Holland Jachtbouw (HJB) in 2014.
Marisol was designed by UK naval architect Bill Dixon. This stunning high-performance yacht was built to the specific wish of the customer. They asked for a strikingly beautiful superyacht, with exquisite finishing and a clean and uncluttered deck. Marisol was designed with great performance in mind, allowing her to sail fast and efficiently in the lighter breezes often found in the Mediterranean.
Performance
The luxury sailing yacht has an aluminum hull and superstructure and is equipped with a carbon fibre rig along with carbon rigging. To ensure the best possible performance, the hull was put through extensive programs of tank testing prior to the build commencing. Marisol is powered by 740 hp (552 kW) Volvo Penta engines, boasting an impressive maximum speed of 13 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots.
Special highlights on board Marisol include a double hinged transom door/swim platform, and a telescopic lifting keel which allows her draft to vary from a maximum of 5.9m (19.3ft) down to just 3.9m (12.8ft). This enables her to gain entry to some of the shallower ports in the Mediterranean.
The large outdoor lounge and dining area in the cockpit feature multiple sofa’s surrounding the dining table, allowing her guests to comfortably enjoy al fresco dining. The fully automatic retractable bimini and dodger provide shadow in the intense heat of the day and allow guests to remain seated in changing weather conditions.
Although the foredeck is used for crew operations during sailing, when anchored it can be used for observation, sunbathing and exercise such as Yoga or Pilates.
The well-known design studio of Rhodes Young Design was appointed to design Marisols ’ interior, where a cohesive look and feel between the different spaces successfully was pursued. The modern interior can be described as peaceful and minimalistic, with natural light flooding all cabins and living areas on board.
Marisol accommodates up to 8 guests (in 4 en-suite cabins), 5 crew members and has a flexible layout with a study that can be converted into a second double en-suite cabin. The owners’ cabin is furnished with two double beds, a desk and an en-suite bathroom with 2 toilets, 2 sinks and shower. The lower deck layout places the guest accommodations on the front and the crew accommodation, including its own mess and galley, in the stern. Aft of the amidships’ spacious and bright contemporary salon with bar, there is a large and well-equipped galley with state-of-the-art appliances.
Throughout the yacht, six separate entertainment areas were created. They provide mobile charging- and docking stations, music, TV and movies.
Marisol was designed with great performance in mind, allowing her to sail fast and efficiently in the lighter breezes often found in the Mediterranean.

sailing yachts
This 45m sloop, known in development as YIII, was built by Holland Jachtbouw and features a contemporary but comfortable interior that accommodates up to 8 guests, thanks to the addition of a convertible Media Room which also doubles as a fourth guest cabin.
Unique dark portlight surrounds are framed by large architectural arches, giving the impression of undefined space beyond where the eye would normally believe the room finishes. The quiet and sophisticated pear wood joinery is highlighted by brightly coloured leather furniture pieces, hand stitched by artisans and inspired by Italian leather handbags.
Clever use of lighting within the saloon creates a gallery-esque backdrop for the owner’s extensive artwork, whilst the leather-panelled corridor carries you forward into the forward lobby, where the unclad-carbon mast is celebrated by a large overhead lighting feature.
One of the most unique features of the yacht is the retractable hydraulic bimini top, which unfolds out of the deck like a convertible car roof and provides shade for the multi-purpose cockpit seating. Working closely with the naval architect, all the mechanisms have been integrated with the Rhoades Young Design cockpit furniture to produce an integrated and holistic design.

Old browser alert! We have detected you are using a pretty old browser. This website uses cool features that can't be supported by your browser.
If we let you see the website it would look all weird and broken, nobody wants that!
SY Heureka was launched during the Summer of 2014 for an owner wanting fast passage times and a rewarding to sail.
This was not the only requirement in the design brief of this beautifully built yacht. She had to be sleek, visually striking and with a clean and uncluttered deck. Meticulous design detailing can be seen in abundance; the recessed chainplates and the headsail furlers, the recessed blade and genoa tracks, the hidden hydraulic backstay cylinders, the oval closed fairleads and the retracting superstructure coaming doors to name a few. Ironically, we decided to keep the mast drum winches on deck, as the practicalities outweighed the aesthetics of recessing them in a winch pit.
Her impressive performance is a result of significant design time and extensive programmes of tank and theoretical testing. Her well balanced powerful hull shape, coupled with a moderate beam ensure she is easily driven on all points of sailing.
Her large High Modulus carbon rig and rigging provides an impressive sail area ratio. Not wishing to be driven by current design trends, we decided against an excessively plumb bow, to eliminate excessive wetness from beating to windward fully powered up. The hull’s forefoot is relatively deep, allowing us to add some form to the bottom sections, ensuring that the vessel will track nicely and not slam unduly in a seaway.
The vessel features a development of our Award-winning telescopic keel system which gives just under 6m of draft fully extended, whilst not hindering the interior layout with large space robbing keelboxes This is evident in the openness of the saloon. The keel system was supplied by APM in Italy, a leading force in lifting keel technology.
What makes this such a successful project is the holistic approach to the design. Design is often about the challenge of reconciling what can often prove to be very conflicting requirements. We believe that we have taken great care to balance the luxurious owner’s accommodation, appropriately with the technical and crew areas. Rhoades Young Design provided the interior design which is both peaceful and minimalistic using a combination of materials, fabrics and textures. Natural light is in abundance throughout the interior.

A look at the most expensive superyachts at the Palm Beach yacht show and their insane features, from basketball courts on deck to ice baths and saunas
- The Palm Beach International Boat Show kicks off later this week.
- Eight megayachts are expected to be on display for would-be buyers and charter customers.
- These are the show's biggest yachts — and how many millions of dollars they are going for.
The Palm Beach International Boat Show — the yacht world's flashiest event stateside — is returning this year with over 800 boats for both deep-pocked potential owners and window shoppers to peruse.
While it's impossible to know what exactly will be on display until the show begins on Thursday, it's expected that eight megayachts — generally defined as ships over 60 meters long — will be docked at the show and at nearby marinas like the Rybovich Marina in the ritzy Florida town.
Some of these are for sale at eye-popping prices, but others are available to if in case you fancy living like a billionaire for a week or two this summer (and if you have six figures to spare on a vacation).
These are the eight biggest yachts that will be at the Palm Beach International Boat Show and nearby marinas, in size order.
Nero: 90.1 meters
Price: From $497,000 a week (charter) Standout features: Pizza ovens, beauty salon, massage room, resistance pool
Reportedly owned by Irish billionaire Denis O'Brien, Nero is modeled after J.P. Morgan's 1930s ship , and was built in 2007 and updated in 2021.
She now boasts a gym on her sundeck with multiple cardio machines and a beauty salon, and has an on-board beautician for manicure, pedicure, hair, and massage needs. There's also an upgraded movie theater, two new pizza ovens, and both a pool and a jacuzzi.
For those who want to go overboard, she has more than a dozen toys, including a waterslide, Jet Ski, and flyboard.
Victorious: 85 meters
Price: From $876,600 a week in the summer and $950,000 a week in the winter Standout features: Hammam (Turkish bath), wine cellar, wood-burning fireplace, children's playroom
Victorious brings a party vibe to the yacht show. With a beach club on board, a wine cellar, a cigar clubroom , multiple bars, and a lounge with a piano, the vessel is made for entertaining. Plus, there's a playroom and movie theater to entertain the kids.
For tamer charter clients, Victorious has a suite of wellness features such as a gym, massage room, beauty salon and hammam, or Turkish bath — perhaps a custom request of her owner, Turkish businessman Vural Ak.
She also boasts a treasure trove of water toys, including Jet Skis, jetsurfs, inflatable kayaks, and scuba equipment.
Casino Royale: 72 meters
Price: TBD Special Features: Infinity pool, helipad, private jacuzzi
Purchased and refitted by car dealer magnate John Staluppi last year, Casino Royale is the latest of his James Bond-inspired yachts (he's also owned an Octopussy and a Skyfall, among others).
Casino Royale has a helipad that turns into a dancefloor, an infinity pool, and a wellness center with a gym and sauna. The owner's cabin has its own deck, which features a private bar and jacuzzi.

However, the boat's price isn't listed, and while she's not necessarily officially for sale, that might change depending on who's prepared to buy, Mr. Bond.
Talisman C: 70.6 meters
Price: $60 million (or from $567,000 a week to charter) Special features: Massage and beauty room, private library
Likely the largest yacht for sale (not just charter) at the show, the Talisman C is a 2011 six-bedroom boat. The owner's cabin comes with an en suite bathroom, dressing room, private library, and crystal chandeliers.
Amenities include a gym, a beauty room, oversized jacuzzi, and a fully equipped bar. Her crew of 19 includes a trained masseuse, and the toy room comes equipped with a wakeboard, eFoil , and WaveRunners.
Joy: 70 meters
Price: From $650,000 a week Special features: Disco club, basketball court, onboard fitness instructor
Superyacht Joy testifies to the fact that owners want as many on-board experiences as they can get.
There's an expansive suite of fitness features, including a basketball court (don't shoot that hoop too hard!), a personal trainer on staff, boxing equipment, and a handful of machines. For post-workout winddowns, there's a spa with a steam room and onboard masseuse. And for entertainment, there's both an outdoor and indoor cinema, and a disco club.
Triumph: 65.4 meters
Price: From $707,600 a week in the summer and $650,000 a week in the winter Special features: Sauna, helipad, banana boat
This 2021 superyacht is named after Triumph motorcycles — a reported favorite of her rumored owner, British businessman Chris Dawson — and even has one on display as an art piece in the upper deck's lounge. The primary suite is 1,400 square feet and has its own study , and there's a sauna, an indoor-outdoor gym, a helipad, and a massage room spread among her six decks.
She boasts an "armada of water toys," including two kinds of Jet Skis, electric water bikes, and a banana boat.
Seanna: 64.5 meters
Price: $54,000,000 (or from $462,000 a week to charter) Special features: marble foyer, movie room, sundeck pool
The recently refurbished Seanna is available for sale and charter.
Her indoor-outdoor gym is on sea level so that passengers can take a dip after a session with the onboard personal trainer. There's also a sundeck pool, a helipad, a two-room massage facility, and, for the more cerebral guests, a library with an electric fireplace.
There are a number of toys on board, including a popular water trampoline and two WaveRunners.
Come Together: 60 meters
Price: $65,000,000 Special Features: DJ and videographer on board, ice bath, sauna
Next-to-new yacht Come Together is looking for a new owner after doing charters during the 2023 season.
The Beatles' influence is evident beyond the yacht's name, with guitars dotting the sky lounge and a crewmember who doubles as a DJ. There's also an outdoor cinema and bar for entertainment and an ice bath and sauna for the day after the party. The owner's suite has a private study and lounge, and each guest cabin has its own ensuite.
The sale includes a number of toys, like Jet Skis, kayaks, and Seabobs.
