How to Build a Yacht in Minecraft

Petra Dolovski

There are many ways to modernize our Minecraft worlds. We do not have to stick to the medieval-ish theme each of them has with its generated structures.

Instead we can take up our blocks and make a whole futuristic world that may better suit our needs. It is just a matter of picking the right way to do this.

Now, of course, if we are modernizing Minecraft, we want to treat ourselves to the best luxuries that we can, and what is a bigger luxury than owning your very own private yacht to sail the seas with?

Getting Started on the Build

Before you start building your yacht you will first want to pick out the right materials for this kind of build. Unlike our ship builds, a yacht is never going to be made entirely out of wood or similar materials like that.

Yacht’s are known for being pearly white, slick, and smooth so they can show luxury and wealth.

The best set of materials you can turn to for this kind of build would be quartz and terracotta blocks.

Quartz blocks are clean white and smooth. They also have slab and stair varieties to them which greatly aid in building a proper shape for this ship.

Other blocks you could choose are andesite and diorite as well as their polished versions.

It would also be good to look at real life yachts for inspiration and to get an idea on how to build one.

Finally, if you have your blocks picked out and feel ready, it is time to find the spot where to build. Building it at a dock allows you to easily access your yacht, but it can prove to be difficult fitting it into an already existing build. You may need to compromise on size and details.

Building it out on the open waters may be a much better idea. It also allows you to build a dock within the yacht for your boats as you sail to it!

For this kind of build it is better to build it bigger than smaller, because that will make it much easier.

Building a Yacht Frame

Just like when building a ship, it is useful to build a frame for your yacht first.

Start by building a straight line with your chosen blocks (mine are cyan terracotta) to determine how long your yacht will be.

For the ship build we usually built ribs to help shape the lower deck of the build, but luckily for us a yacht can be completely flat on the bottom. This particular yacht will also include a dock for regular small boats in the back.

In the image below you can see the layout of our yacht’s lower deck. The lower deck is 21 blocks long (not including the nose of the yacht) and 9 blocks wide.

Yacht lower deck layout

Now, we build our yacht from the bottom up.

I will add an extra line of cyan terracotta above the original frame, just so that it is visible from above water, before building all the walls from smooth quartz.

I will also be adding windows along the terracotta line. It is best advised to keep windows symmetrical on both sides on each level of the yacht.

Yacht walls

The walls will be 3 blocks tall in total for the lower deck, with inside walls separating the space into several rooms. Decorate these as you wish and need.

The very back of the yacht will be where we will include a boat dock for all those arriving by smaller vessels as well as two staircases leading up to the upper deck.

Building the Upper Deck

The upper deck will be just a tiny bit shorter than the lower one and it will include an outdoor area and an indoor area, meant for the steering wheel and where the captain would spend the most time.

From the staircases to the end, the wooden part of the upper deck is 16 blocks long.

Though, we also cannot forget a pointed nose for the dock that extends past the deck.

Yacht upper deck

Now we get to build the cabin with the steering wheel in it.

The front of the cabin will be all window, so we will build it out of glass blocks. There will also be 2 windows on each side as well; one is 2 blocks wide and the other just 1.

This is how the wall layout will look like for the cabin. It will be only 2 and a half blocks tall.

The ceiling we will sculpt using smooth quartz stairs and slabs, just to keep the height low. The stairs and slabs will also help make the slope of the ceiling look smooth.

We then add is slabs around the front window of the cabin.

The final detail we will include in the construction of the yacht will be the little “wings” at the back, just to break up the shape a little bit.

Finished Minecraft Yacht

with that the main construction of our yacht is done!

Adding Details and Decoration

Every build can have details added to it to help shape it or to help smooth out its shape.

The best way to do this is by using stairs on the front of the ship to make the yacht look more slick and pretty. You saw that while we were shaping the ship up a little earlier.

The next thing that we would have to do is, of course, furnishing out yacht. We need a place to seat ourselves and our guests, as well as some for of living quarters.

The lower deck has enough room for a living area and kitchen. The small room beside it is good for storage, while the two rooms at the very entrance can be used as bedrooms!

Give your guests a bed with an ocean view.

Yacht bedroom

I particularly enjoy designing small and cozy kitchens like these. End Rods, if you have any to spare, look amazing as tube lights above your kitchen countertop.

The little corner we left open is good for shelving or to serve as a fridge, as you can see in the image below.

Yacht kitchen

The top deck will have regular outdoor seating. The chairs I will make using my furniture building techniques, as well as the little outdoor table.

Inside the top deck cabin I will include some more seating and a steering wheel.

With that, your yacht should be done and ready for a party!

Checkout below Files and Download as per your requirement.

How to Install Litematica

Step-1 download & install fabric.

Litematica for Minecraft requires the Fabric Mod Loader in order to be installed. This is very simple to install. All you need to do is download them from the links below, run them with Java, and then click “Install” in the installer that opens up. It really is that simple and easy. The video above goes more in-depth with installing Fabric.

Download Fabric:  https://fabricmc.net/use/

Step-2 Download Litematica

Now, Download Litematica from above as per your requirements.

Step-3 Install Litematica

To start installation process Just hit the Windows Key on your keyboard and ‘R’ at the exact same time. This will open up the ‘Run’ program. In the search box type, ‘%appdata%’. This will launch the ‘Roaming’ folder on your computer. At the very top of this folder, you will see a program called ‘.minecraft’. Open this folder, and in it, you should have a folder titled ‘mods’. If you don’t, just create one!

After you’ve found or created your ‘mods’ folder, installing Litematica is easy. Just take it and drag and drop them into this ‘mods’ folder. After you’ve done that, the mods are installed! We aren’t quite done yet though. We still need to make sure that we are selecting the right version of Minecraft.

minecraft yacht schematic

Step-4 Open The Minecraft Launcher & Select The ‘Fabric’ Profile

In order to select the correct version of Minecraft, we need to open up the regular Minecraft launcher that we allow know and love. From here, we can click the up arrow next to the ‘Play’ button. From there, find the profile titled ‘Fabric’. Then, click the big green ‘Play’ button. Minecraft should then launch with Voxel Minimap installed.

Congratulations! Litematica is now installed! Have some fun, build stuff, or install some other mods. Now checkout the Getting started section in order to start using litematica.

Getting Started

First of all, the Litematica main menu opens by default with  M  and the config GUI opens with  M + C  (unless you are for example on the AZERTY keyboard layout, then  M  will be  ,  instead and  M + C  will become  , + C ). There is also a button to open the config GUI in the main menu.

If you have Optifine installed, then there are some options that you most likely will need to disable in Optifine, or otherwise it will break the schematic rendering:

  • If you get glitchy weird triangles, then in 1.16+ first try updating to the latest Litematica version. If that doesn’t work, then set  shaders to OFF  (not Internal) and restart the game.
  • Render Regions  probably needs to be  disabled  to prevent weird rendering issues (the schematic (partially?) rendering in weird places)
  • Fast Render  might also need to be  disabled  if there are still some weird HUD/GUI rendering issues

To create a new schematic:

  • First switch to the  Area Selection  mode, as it will make things easier/faster.
  • You can change the mode either with the bottom left button in the Litematica main menu, or using holding  Ctrl  and scrolling with the mouse wheel while you are holding the “tool item”, which by default is a stick (it can be changed on the  Generic  config GUI tab).
  • Now if you only need one box, you can switch to the  Simple  area selection mode in the Litematica menu (it’s by default on  Normal  mode).
  • If you need multiple boxes (sub-regions), then stay in the  Normal  mode, and create a new selection in the  Area Selection Browser  and make sure it’s selected (hilighted in white). It’s selected automatically when you create it, so don’t click on it (once) or you will unselect it.
  • After you have the selection to work with, you can left and right click while holding the “tool” to select the first and second corners respectively. You can sneak while clicking to put the corner next to the block you point at, instead of inside it.
  • You can middle click to select a corner or a sub-region box to work with in the Normal mode. You can  Alt + scroll  to nudge around the currently selected corner or box.
  • Often it’s easier/faster to use the  Expand  mode instead of the  Corners  mode. You can switch between them with  Ctrl + M  or on the  Generic  config tab. In the  Expand  mode you first right click to move and reset the selection to the clicked block, and then you left click a block at the edges of your build, to expand the selection box around all of those clicked positions.
  • In the  Normal  mode you can create and rename as many sub-region boxes as you need in the  Area Editor  GUI (default hotkey to open that should be  numpad multiply , or use the button in the main menu).
  • After your selection is done, you can use a hotkey to save it as a schematic, or use the button in the  Area Editor  GUI.

To work with loaded schematics:

  • To later on use the saved schematic, you go to the main menu ->  Load Schematics , keep the  Create Placement  checkmark enabled, select your schematic and click  Load .
  • It’s helpful to switch to the  Schematic Placement  tool mode when working with the loaded schematic, as you can then use the “tool” to move and position the placement, by clicking or  Alt + scrolling .
  • To rotate or mirror it, you can go via the main menu ->  Schematic Placements  ->  Configure , or use the hotkey  numpad minus  to open that placement config GUI.
  • Once the placement is in the correct position, I recommend locking it on the placement config GUI so that you won’t accidentally move it anymore.
  • So one thing to notice here is that you can load a schematic once, and create any number of placements of it (from the  Loaded Schematics  menu ->  Create placement ). Thus the placement is basically the position, rotation etc. data for a given “visible schematic copy”.
  • To only render for example one layer at a time, you can change the rendering settings on the  Render Layers  config tab. There are also hotkey to cycle the mode, move the layer to the player’s position, and nudge the layer. By default the cycle keys are  M + Page Up/Down , to move the layer is  M + Home  and to nudge the layer is  Page Up/Down .

Other things:

  • All hotkeys can be changed, or the default keys seen, on the  Hotkeys  tab in the config menu.
  • If you need to change some blocks in a schematic, you can use the  Schematic Rebuild  mode. Basically the Rebuild mode allows you to break, add, and replace blocks. Without any modifier keys held, you can punch out/break blocks in the schematic, and if you right click on a schematic block with a block in hand, you will place that block there just like it was actual blocks.
  • And then you have a few “modifier keys”, which allow you to break or place or replace blocks in continuous lines, or all identical blocks at once. Currently you basically have two variants of those modifier hotkeys: the “direction” variant gives you a Tweakeroo-like 5-way overlay which indicates in which direction you want to break or place or replace blocks in a straight continuous line. And then the “all” variant of modifier keys allows you to break or replace all identical blocks in the schematic. That can however be limited using the Render Layers and also by selecting a sub-region instead of having the entire placement selected.
  • So to replace all blocks of a given type with another block, you would set a key for the  schematicRebuildReplaceAll  hotkey, then hold that down while right clicking with the new block on the block to replace.

Litematica is a schematic mod for Minecraft, offering holographic blueprints, material lists, and more. Unlike other mods, it’s tailored for specific light mod loaders like LiteLoader, Rift, and Fabric.

The main menu of the mod opens by default with the  M  key, and the config menu with  M + C .  Note  that if you use a  non-QWERTY  layout, then these keys can be different, such as  M  becoming  ,  on AZERTY.

Litematica doesn’t use the vanilla keybind system. It uses the custom keybind system from the  malilib  library mod, which supports multi-key keybinds and a lot more features. The hotkeys are thus only configurable via Litematica’s or malilib’s own config menus. Most commonly you would get to the Litematica hotkey menu with  M + C  ->  Hotkeys . If you are using the Fabric mod loader, then you can also access these per-mod config menus via the separate Mod Menu mod’s mod list, using the gear button for each mod.

Put the schematic file to the  .minecraft/schematics/  directory, and then load it via the  Load Schematics  menu ( M ->  Load Schematics ).

You first create an area selection, and then you save that as a schematic. The Area Selections page describes in more detail how the area selection things work in the mod. If the selected area is large (goes outside of the loaded chunks around your player), then you will need to move around to load all the chunks once. You will get a  Missing Chunks  message at the bottom right telling you how many chunks are still missing and thus which ones you still need to move in range of.

This is done via the placement configuration menu. You can get to it via  M  ->  Schematic Placements  ->  Configure . You can also access it by default using the hotkey  Numpad Minus , which opens the GUI for the currently selected placement, if any. To change which placement is selected, click on one in the  Schematic Placements  list/menu, so that it has the white outline indicating that it’s selected. You can also use the “tool item” and (while being in the  Schematic Placement  tool mode) middle click while looking at the placement in-world. You can also click with the tool to move the placement origin, or use  Alt + mouse scroll  to nudge the placement in the direction you are looking.

Use the Render Layers menu or the related hotkeys to switch the mode and select the layer to show.

Use the Edit Schematic (formerly known as Schematic Rebuild) mode
