How Much Do Superyachts Cost?
When it comes to superyachts, the sky is the limit when it comes to cost.
These luxury vessels come with hefty price tags that can range from anywhere between $30 million to over $400 million.
So, if youre in the market for a superyacht, youre looking at an investment that could easily break the bank.
The cost of a superyacht is driven by a variety of factors, including size, amenities, and customization.
Generally, the larger the yacht, the more expensive it will be.
Superyachts typically range in size from 100 feet to over 200 feet, and they can be as wide as 40 feet.
The bigger the yacht, the more luxurious features and amenities it will have.
Amenities also play a significant role in the cost of a superyacht.
While some owners prefer to keep their yachts out of the public eye, others have made headlines with their extensive amenities.
From swimming pools and helicopter pads to on-board cinemas and spas, the sky is the limit when it comes to customizing a superyacht.
The more amenities a superyacht has, the more expensive it will be.
Finally, customization is another major factor that will drive up the cost of a superyacht.
Many luxury vessels have custom-designed interiors that are tailored to the owners tastes.
From custom furniture and artwork to lighting and audio systems, the cost of a superyacht can quickly escalate depending on the level of customization.
In short, the cost of a superyacht can vary widely depending on its size, amenities, and customization.
While some may be able to get away with spending a few million dollars, others may end up spending hundreds of millions of dollars on their dream yacht.
No matter what your budget is, its important to do your research and find out exactly what youre getting for your money before signing on the dotted line.
Keeping Superyachts Out of the Public Eye
When it comes to owning a superyacht, some owners prefer to keep their vessels out of the public eye.
Understandably, these individuals are concerned with privacy and discretion, and therefore tend to take measures to ensure their yachts are not visible to outsiders.
For instance, some superyacht owners opt to keep their vessels in private marinas, away from the public areas of larger ports.
Additionally, some yacht owners may choose to hire security guards to patrol and protect their vessels while they are moored or sailing.
In addition to physical security, some superyacht owners also use technology to keep their vessels out of the public eye.
For example, a yacht owner may choose to install a satellite-based communications system that allows them to keep their vessel completely off-radar.
This system works by bouncing signals off satellites rather than transmitting them, making it virtually impossible for anyone to track the yachts movements.
Finally, some superyacht owners also choose to limit the number of people who have access to their vessels.
For instance, the owner may only allow family members and close friends to board the yacht.
Additionally, the owner may choose to employ a limited number of staff to help maintain the vessel and keep it running smoothly.
These individuals may be required to sign non-disclosure agreements to ensure they do not disclose any information about the yacht or its owner.
Overall, while some superyacht owners may choose to keep their vessels out of the public eye, there are still plenty of other ways to show off the opulence associated with owning a superyacht.
From swimming pools and helicopter pads to on-board cinemas and spas, there are many luxurious amenities that can make a superyacht the envy of any jet setter.
Final Thoughts
Superyachts are a symbol of luxury and status, and the list of yacht owners reads like a who’s who of billionaires.
From the Emir of Qatar’s world-record breaking $400 million yacht to Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen’s vessel with a helicopter pad and on-board spa, the amenities of these luxury vessels are truly stunning.
With prices ranging from $30 million to over $400 million, owning a superyacht is an expensive endeavor.
Whether you’re looking to purchase one or just curious to learn more about the owners and their amenities, this guide will provide you with all the information you need to stay up to date with the superyacht scene.

Crew Information
Captain: Austin McClure
Captain Austin McClure From the keel up, Austin knows boats and how they operate. As a Merchant Marine and graduate of Texas A&M Maritime Academy with a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Transportation, he received extensive training on vessels and life at sea. Austin currently holds a USCG 1600GRT Master license as well as a 2nd Mate Unlimited. Austin has a passion for the sea and all the adventure within it. He has traveled the world aboard many types of commercial vessels such as Jones Act ships, OSVs, and offshore tugs. As Austin transitioned into the sunnier side of the industry, he has been in command of chartered sail and motor yachts up to 150’. His travels have taken him to places and ports around America as well as all over the Caribbean, Hawaiian and Micronesian Islands, Philippines, Singapore, Panama Canal, Middle East, Black Sea. With Austin’s competency in seamanship and hospitality, he is ready to take you anywhere and deliver world class customer service. Mate Sam Smith Sam grew up fishing and boating on small lakes in Indiana and eventually sparked an interest in sailing on the Great Lakes. He graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, IL with a BA in Business Administration and a Master’s in Finance. After school, Sam started working in Chicago and eventually decided to purchase a sailboat, a 28’ sloop. He quickly realized he has a strong desire to be on the water full-time, so he decided it was time to move to the yachting capital of the world, Fort Lauderdale, FL. Sam has a strong desire for adventure which has helped him develop his skills on the water. Sam has spent the first 3 years of his yachting career in the Bahamas and Caribbean where he furthered his learning in key skills such as shallow water navigation, finding and diving deep coral reefs, and fishing in a variety of ways. On his time off, you can find Sam and his wife managing Crew Haven, crew housing based in Fort Lauderdale. Chief Engineer Josh Bekker Hailing from South Africa, Josh brings 8 years of maritime expertise, stemming from a family legacy of electricians and engineers. A professional problem solver, he ensures smooth sailing for all onboard. Beyond his technical prowess, Josh is an avid fisherman, kiteboarder, and surfer, with experience captaining vessels for deep-sea fishing in Mozambique. With 4 years in the Mediterranean and another 4 in the States, Bahamas, and the Caribbean, he guarantees a safe and unforgettable voyage for all guests. Bosun Michael Pinero Growing up in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, Michael was fortunate to be surrounded by the salty sea air and picturesque beaches. From an early age, Michael was drawn to boats, an interest that was cultivated through the expertise of his father, who is employed at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, and his grandfather, who served as an Admiral in the U.S. Navy. After relocating to Florida, Michael was introduced to the world of mega-yachts, a discovery that cemented his passion for maritime life. When Michael isn't on the water, you'll catch him watching sports and creating great laughs with his friends and family. As her passion for cooking grew, Christiana attended the Culinary Institute of America where she graduated with an Associates in Pastry Arts and Bachelor’s in Business Management. With all of her travels through Europe and Asia it is no surprise to find most of Christiana's favorite dishes are internationally influenced. It was at the CIA that she discovered her love of wine – after working as a chef for multiple fine dining and Michelin star restaurants around the world, she cut her teeth at a Washington, DC wine bar and ultimately passed the Sommelier exam and WSET level 3 in wine. Currently, she utilizes her wine knowledge to help guests pair their meals with specific bottles. Throughout my time in the industry, I’ve worked for prestigious programs in all aspects of the interior. I have true a passion for great service and making people happy in anyway possible. I cannot begin to thank you for steering us in the direction of NO BAD IDEAS! Truly they live up to their name. There are NO BAD IDEAS on that boat and NO was never an answer. I’m not quite sure where to begin, the boat was gorgeous, meticulous and the interiors are beautiful! The food by Chef Warren was AMAZING, he is truly a magician. We all want a Chef Warren at home! The activities that the crew planned for us were so much fun and something for everyone. They were up for new ideas and always did everything with a smile. <br /> <br /> What I want to express to you the most, is just how fabulous this crew really is! We felt like family when we left. In fact my mother in law began to cry and the girls were crying as well. This crew is absolutely STELLAR! Each and everyone one of them are fantastic individuals, hard working, always smiling and FUN! We had so much darn fun with them. We have been on charters before and we have never seen a crew like this. They are so close, work so well together and you can really see just how much they love their jobs. They have something really special there! <br /> <br /> You will definitely be hearing from us again, as we told them we WILL BE BACK! I'm wondering if it would be possible for you to share our experience with the boat owner, he is coming on board this coming week. We appreciate all that you do for us.<br /> <br /> Broker Testimonial: <br /> <br /> Dear Owners of NO BAD IDEAS <br /> <br /> I have just personally finished a great trip onboard NO BAD IDEAS where I had one of my favorite clients onboard. Where we were only onboard for a few days, I wanted to share with you that everything was executed seamlessly. Your professional crew are amazing and the thing that impressed me most was that your key crew members shared with me that they want to retire with you as the owner. Besides the crew, the refit that you completed has to be my #1 refit in the 40 mtr size range. Very smart choices from the relocation of the hot tub, to installing the big table forward on the sundeck. Very smart!!! <br /> <br /> Needless to say, we will be chartering NO BAD IDEAS later this year.<br /> <br /> One of the most difficult parts of my job is keeping up with crew changes. Many crew members are continuously seeking the next bigger boat or bigger pay check, so I commended them on wanting to stay loyal. Great job on your part for selecting a great team. After working as an engineer across the continent of Africa for six years, he realized the joy he found in travel and decided a career in yachting would allow him to work while seeing more of the world. First starting off as a Deckhand, Divan has learned the ins and outs of vessels and is now in the process of obtaining his SV license. Friends would describe Divan as energetic, enthusiastic, and eager. He is currently trying to learn how to play the saxophone but also enjoys running and cycling in his spare time.<br /> <br /> Name: Cameron Green<br /> <br /> Position: Bosun<br /> Nationality: South African<br /> Description:<br /> Education/Certifications: Bachelor of Arts in Graphic/ Web Design, Master of Yachts 200GT <br /> Languages Spoken: English<br /> <br /> Cameron grew up in Cape Town, South Africa with a very athletic family as both of his parents were sponsored water-skiers. We absolutely loved the boat and the crew were some of the best crew that we have had on our charters over the years. We definitely plan to charter NO BAD IDEAS again. Thank you for being such a good owner! I look forward to sending more business your way.</div><div class='clr'></div><div style='text-align:center;background:#CCCCCC;font-weight:bold;'>***December 2021***</div><div class='clr'></div><div style='text-align:left;'>Dear No Bad Ideas Crew, <br /> <br /> To say we had a great time would be an understatement. The team seemed to work very well together, creating a great guest atmosphere. <br /> <br /> Pete, Thor, and Neil were superb, balancing safety and sporting fun in all activities. Kat was also great in the water. The interior staff, led by Chief Stewardess Xan, were expeditious in their service and painstaking attention to detail. Her daily meetings with us about service and menu planning were great to allow for a personal but flexible experience. Bo and Kat were so attentive and personable. I know he knows what he has in this crew, but it is always nice to hear from someone else. </div><div class='clr'></div></div> </div> <div class='bs-example' itemscope itemtype="https://schema.org/Review"> <div itemprop="name" content=""></div> <div itemprop="itemReviewed" itemscope itemtype="https://schema.org/Hotel"> <span itemprop="name">NO BAD IDEAS</span> </div> <div itemprop="author" itemtype="https://schema.org/Person" itemscope> <meta itemprop="name" content="NO BAD IDEAS" Crew 5 /> </div> <div class="yacht_rev"> <div itemprop="reviewBody">***December 29 - January 5, 2022***</div><div class='clr'></div><div style='text-align:left;'>Guest Feedback: <br /> <br /> Thank you as always for arranging such an amazing trip for us. We absolutely loved the boat and the crew were some of the best crew that we have had on our charters over the years. We definitely plan to charter NO BAD IDEAS again. Thank you for being such a good owner! Most expenses are deducted from an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), a fund that is added on top of the charter price. The expenses, such as provisioning, fuel, marina fees, are deducted from the APA. The APA is based on the price of the yacht and ranges from 15% (crewed sailing yachts) to 30% (motor yachts with higher fuel consumption). You can actively control these expenses in your preference sheet (local vs. imported beverages) and by choice of itinerary (distances traveled). The remainder of the APA is returned after charter.">Price Terms: Plus Expenses

The luxury boats owned by some of the wealthiest people in tech, from a yacht so big it has its own support boat to superyachts with swimming pools and basketball courts
- Many billionaires like Jeff Bezos and Richard Branson enjoy spending their time on luxurious yachts.
- The boats are decked out with amenities that many Americans can only dream of.
- Here are some of the billionaires in tech who own private yachts.
A regular Jane celebrating a personal renaissance after a long-term relationship might commemorate the new era with an ankle tattoo of a spiritual saying. When you're a billionaire, you could do it instead with a $500 million megayacht .
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos made waves in May riding around the roughly 127-meter "Koru," a Māori term that may signify a fresh start, with his reported fiancée Lauren Sanchez. (In 2019, Bezos finalized his divorce from MacKenzie Scott, whom he was married to for 25 years).
Beyond the private planes occupying the hangars of billionaires, yachts have come to symbolize the highly private sites of leisure and networking reserved for the ultra-wealthy .
Tech billionaires like Bezos, Oracle cofounder Larry Ellison, and Google cofounders Sergey Brin and Larry Page have all purchased their own mini vacation hubs at sea, decking their boats with amenities like gyms, spas, pools, nightclubs, and movie theaters.
For those wishing to experience life aboard these multi-million-dollar yachts, some are available to rent out for a few nights or weeks at a time. Late Microsoft cofounder Paul Allen's yacht can be booked for $2.2 million per week or more, according Bloomberg .
Chartering yachts owned by billionaires like Alphabet cofounder Sergey Brin has previously cost customers anywhere from $773,000 a week to $1.2 million .
It remains to be seen how these vessels will fare against the apparent Orca uprising.
Take a look at some of the yachts that have been owned by tech billionaires.
A mystery buyer bought a 414-foot superyacht that was once owned by late Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen for $278 million. Allen had the boat, which was named "Octopus," built in 2003 for $200 million. Since the tech billionaire's death in 2018, the boat had been listed for as much as $325 million.

The wealthy can book the yacht for a weekly rate of $2.2 million or more, through the luxury company Camper & Nicholsons, Bloomberg reported last year.

Amazon founder Bezos' $500 million megayacht, the roughly 127-meter "Koru," sparked attention in May for its artistic decor. A sculpture of a woman on the boat appeared to observers to be the likeness of Bezos' reported fiancée Sanchez, who was also seen that month on the yacht sporting a large ring.

Even before its completion, "Koru" drew the ire of Dutch people vowing to hurl eggs at the boat if it would require a historic bridge in Rotterdam to be taken apart to let it through. An egg crisis was averted however, as the company making the ship found a less-irksome alternative.

Bezos has long been interested in yachts. In 2019, he was spotted aboard entertainment mogul David Geffen's superyacht.
Oracle cofounder Larry Ellison owns a 288-foot yacht named Musashi that he acquired in 2013. The yacht has several amenities, including an elevator, swimming pool, movie theater, and both an indoor and outdoor gym.

Ellison has owned several superyachts over the years, including the Katana, the Ronin, and the Rising Sun.

The Oracle cofounder also has a knack for competitive yacht racing, and helped to found and back a racing team, called Oracle Team USA, in 2000. The team has found success and won several prestigious titles over the years.

Ellison previously owned a bigger, 454-foot yacht called Rising Sun, which was designed specifically for the CEO in 2005. That yacht reportedly has 82 rooms, a movie theater, a wine cellar, and a basketball court. However, Ellison sold off the Rising Sun to Geffen for a reported $300 million.

Ellison's boat, Musashi, is a sister ship to the yacht of another billionaire, former Sears CEO Eddie Lampert. However, the yacht, named Fountainhead, is often mistaken for belonging to billionaire investor Mark Cuban. "The guy who owns the boat tells everyone that it's mine," Cuban told Page Six in 2016. "It's so crazy ... I don't even own a boat."

Ellison's yacht reportedly influenced the decision of late Apple CEO Steve Jobs to get a boat himself. However, Jobs never set foot on the boat — the yacht was commissioned in 2008, but wasn't completed until 2012, a year after his death.

When Jobs died in 2011, his yacht — along with his $14.1 billion fortune — was inherited by his wife, Laurene Powell Jobs, founder and president of a social-impact nonprofit called the Emerson Collective. The 256-foot yacht is named Venus, and is worth $130 million.
Google's billionaire cofounders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, are known to splurge. An Insider feature in December documented some of the trappings of their luxury, including planes and yachts.
Source: Insider .
Page owned a yacht named Senses, a $45 million, 194-foot boat that he bought in 2011 from a New Zealand businessman. He's since sold the yacht, Insider reported in 2021, a vessel that had a private beach club with a Jacuzzi and sun beds, both indoor and outdoor dining areas, and a helicopter pad. It's unclear what other sea vessels he owns, though Insider has previously reported he might have another yacht.
Sources: Boat International; Insider .
Brin meanwhile owns a number of yachts and vessels including the 73-meter Dragonfly, and the 40-meter Butterfly, Insider reported in January.
Dragonfly, the $80 million boat that has a movie-theater, shares a name with Google's once-secret project to launch a censored search engine in China. Google said in 2019 it had officially terminated the project.

The former Google CEO picked up the Alfa Nero yacht for nearly $68 million in an auction in June, according to a Bloomberg report. The yacht had apparently been left amid Russia's war in Ukraine, according to the report.

For Skype cofounder Niklas Zennstrom, his interest in yachts skews toward racing and competitive sailing. Zennstrom has gone through a succession of boats all named Ran.
Source: CNN
The Ran VII yacht is among the most advanced of Zennstrom's boats. The racing yacht uses electrical power, which Zennstrom has said makes it "lighter, less drag, quieter, and most importantly it is environmentally friendly."
The 40-foot yacht has been meant to compete in regattas through the racing team owned by Zennstrom and his wife, Catherine. The Ran racing team launched in 2008, and has won some prestigious regattas.
Barry Diller, chairman of digital media company IAC, co-owns a $70 million yacht with his wife, fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg.
The sailing yacht, named Eos, is 350 feet long with six bedrooms. The power couple has hosted many celebrities over the years — a few that have been spotted aboard Eos include model Karlie Kloss, actor Bradley Cooper, journalist Anderson Cooper, and singer Harry Styles.

For Jim Clark, the cofounder of Netscape, one yacht hasn't been enough. Clark has owned boats for more than 30 years, and in 2012, he put up two of his sailing yachts for sale.
Clark listed the boats for a combined $113 million: the 136-foot Hanuman for $18 million, and the 295-foot Athena for $95 million. However, Clark has yet to offload Athena. Clark also previously owned a 155-foot yacht named Hyperion, and currently also owns a sloop called Hanuman.

Charles Simonyi worked at Microsoft until 2002, and oversaw the creation of Microsoft Office software. A few years before he left, Simonyi decided to purchase a yacht. He told the designer that wanted his yacht to be "home away from [his] home in Seattle."
Source: Boat International
The product of that conversation in 1999 is Simonyi's yacht named Skat, meaning "treasure" in Danish. The yacht measures 233 feet long, and is unique with its nontraditional design and gray color. Skat features a matching gray helicopter, a gym, and motorcycles.

Opulent British billionaire Richard Branson owned a yacht until he sold it in September 2018. The 105-foot catamaran sold for $3 million, significantly lower than the $9.6 million price Branson listed the boat for in 2014.
Branson, the founder of Virgin Group, bought the boat in 2009. He named it Necker Belle, a nod to his private Caribbean island, Necker Island.

On board with Paul and Maureen Petracca, owners of 49m superyacht Trending
After racking up 40 charters, the Petraccas decided it was time to buy their own boat – and all that experience informed one far-reaching refit, as they tell Tristan Rutherford...
The moment that Maureen and Paul Petracca knew they wanted to own their yacht came after 40 successful charters.“On our last trip the captain was the worst we’ve ever had,” says Maureen. “He even stranded our son and his fiancée on a tiny island off St Barths . Genuinely no one knew where they were.” After four hours playing Robinson Crusoe, the young couple were lucky to hitch a ride with a passing boat back to the Petracca family’s charter. “For the amount you pay for a week aboard, you want the charter experience to be perfect,” continues Maureen. “At that point Paul and I looked at each other and said: ‘We need to take control of this ourselves. Let’s buy a yacht of our own!’”
The result is Trending . “After 20 years of chartering several times per year we knew what we wanted,” says Paul. The twin-angled brief called for a shallow draught for cruising the Bahamas, the Petraccas’ nearest fly-in, kick-back island chain, plus a maximum length of 50 metres “because above that some ports need a pilot, and there are other regulations and entanglements”, says Paul. The equation delivered seven or eight possible yachts, leaving two 50 metre Westport 164s in contention. One became the perfect blank canvas for an ambitious overhaul into an understated and luxurious six-cabin superyacht that cruises across the Atlantic at up to 20 knots.
She’s certainly a step up from Maureen and Paul’s first foray on to the water. “We both grew up as lake people,” explains Paul. “Each of us had a summer house, and mine came with an aluminium boat with a nine horsepower engine.” As powerboats were a rarity, the family runabout was used to the full for fishing and racing. Maureen’s family was based on a lake on Cape Cod. “Our first boat was fibreglass with a six horsepower engine out back, and we graduated to a 5.8 metre on which we learned to waterski.” When married, the couple jointly purchased a 9.7 metre Edgewater. “We still use it to hop over to Nantucket or Martha’s Vineyard,” says Maureen.
From their Massachusetts home, the Petraccas’ career and vacation horizons broadened. Paul is now the chief investment officer at Pemco Management, which focuses on public equity investments, primarily in the technology and healthcare spaces. Maureen oversaw a far more important project: the annual yachting trips for their three children and family friends. After dozens of charters from the likes of Camper & Nicholsons , Fraser and IYC , the Petraccas knew precisely what they wanted from a week in the Mediterranean or Caribbean. “By the end of our charter life we started bringing our own specialised fishing gear,” she explains. “We sometimes brought our own divemaster. Once we even shipped in our own tender.”
Undersea exploration would play a pivotal part in the Petraccas’ charter adventures from 1996 to 2015. The entire family are PADI certified divers. The 700 islands of the Bahamas particularly appealed, not least the Exumas. Croatia also delighted the Petraccas a few years back with its countless wreck dives. It was Dubrovnik that entranced Maureen. “We toured the medieval walls and UNESCO-protected Old Town, which were beautiful.”
Before the Petraccas’ own Westport could set sail for Europe there was work to be done. “Our purchase was a 1980s throwback,” recalls Maureen. It contained thick rugs, and heavily upholstered furniture littered the voluminous interior. The vessel, formerly called Vango , had been owned by a retired couple who used it infrequently, “which was great because she had very low engine hours”, says Paul. It was Maureen who oversaw the interiors as part of an all-encompassing refit from 2015 to 2016.
Light marble and white stone were laid across the main saloon. Oversized windows pour light on to the chrome, taupes, mirrors and creams. Rainforest showers and double sinks grace every en suite. A hint of individuality is provided by Maureen’s underwater photography portraits from as far afield as St Barths, Barbuda and Saba, the Dutch Caribbean island that contains the Netherlands’ highest peak. “Our experience from 40 charters has been distilled into this space,” says Maureen. Most importantly, the finish isn’t regally stiff but royally comfortable, with sky blue fabrics and enough crystal glasses to decant the entire Napa Valley.
Stepping aboard, it’s clear why they purchased a Westport over any other yacht. “Quite simply, we knew we could modify the hell out of it,” says Paul. A bridge extension has been constructed behind the tri-deck’s upper saloon, creating an additional raised dining area for all 12 guests. “The view is great, but the privacy is priceless,” says Maureen. “As Trending is sometimes tied up in a Mediterranean port you get people promenading past.” And who wants them watching you having dinner? An illuminated bar sparkles in the night sky, as a sound system rocks the extra club area installed on the Portuguese deck just in front of the bridge. “We’re a little afraid of the sun these days so sails shade the top by day.” A therapeutic Michael Phelps Signature Swim Spa with shaded lounging areas was added too. “I prefer pools that can accommodate many guests,” says Maureen. Hers can welcome eight.
Westport, based in Washington State, comes with five decades of North Pacific experience. “The company is up to hull No 15 or 16 for our largest model, the W164,” says Paul. “So most issues would have been resolved, which allowed us to incorporate those improvements in our yacht. We also knew we could get any spare parts as we’re based in the US.” Ultimately, the refit cost $5 million. “One name we thought of for the yacht was Legacy Killer, as it was just so appropriate,” he laughs. “This yacht keeps me coming to work and earning my keep.”
The electronics on board were a focus of Paul’s. “As guests aboard our own yacht we want to share videos from our iPhones directly on to all the screens,” he says. “I believe charter clients want to do the same.” His flotilla of toys, meanwhile, is truly enviable. There are Seabobs for speed snorkelling and glass-bottomed kayaks for slow drifts across virgin reefs. “When we bought the two RIBs I asked: what’s the biggest our crane can lift?” The result is four metre and 5.5 metre Novurania tenders, the latter with 120hp out back for fishing, diving, island picnics or secret beach retreats. Paul’s desire for perfection is ever present. “I’m a maintenance freak who wants every toy to work all of the time, for our sake and everyone else’s.”
The flotilla flagship is a 11.3 metre Boston Whaler. “Our son Christopher is a qualified captain in his own right so it’s his chance to drive,” says Maureen. The Petracca family uses it for sunset cruises, but only after speed records have been smashed via its triple 350hp outboards. The boat has “all the creature comforts” including electric shades, a barbecue, night vision equipment and an air- conditioned front cabin. Guests are welcome to invite Trending’s PADI instructor along for the ride. The Petraccas frequently use the boat for their latest craze – kitesurfing – which is best practised on the mirror-calm, searing-breeze waters off Barbados and the Grenadines.
Greater adventures await in the next two or three years. Maps have been consulted for a grand voyage through the Panama Canal. The route would allow for whale watching off Baja and leopard shark dives off LA’s Channel Islands, before passing Westport’s HQ near Seattle. Prince of Wales Island would then mark the gateway to an Alaskan summer. Will charter guests be able to book part of their route? “Sorry to disappoint, but it’ll be only us the whole time,” says Paul. “That is if I can keep myself away from the office for that long.” After 40 charters the Petraccas are now master of their own yacht.

How he chooses to spend said fortune, however, is a little more mysterious (at least for the fun stuff). One such indulgence we know the elder Fertitta brother has treated himself to is the ultra-luxurious Feadship-built superyacht known as Viva, which comes with an eye-watering price tag of US$175 million / AU$252 million.
Conceptualised by Azure Yacht Design & Naval Architecture in collaboration with De Voogt Naval Architects, while also showcasing interiors accomplished by Peter Marino, Viva was only completed in the Netherlands last year and delivered shortly thereafter.

Back to the matter of Viva, it boasts an overall length of 308 feet / 94 metres with a 13.6-metre beam and gross tonnage of 2,999 – making it the 85th largest superyacht in the entire world; seventh largest ever constructed by Feadship – and can comfortably accommodate 14 guests across seven cabins alongside a capable crew of 18.
Viva has been called the “most environmentally-friendly luxury vessel of its kind” due to it featuring a hybrid propulsion system that allows the boat to cruise using diesel-electric power, as well as a waste treatment plant and heat recovering systems.

Who is Ajay Thakore? San Diego Lamborghini Yacht owner threatens dock worker in viral video
A n Indian-origin California business owner Ajay Thakore recently made headlines when he reportedly threatened a dockyard worker at San Diego's Marriott Marina after the latter refused to let the former park his $4.5 million Lamborghini Yacht, as per Times Now News.
The video of the incident has now gone viral online. While the face of the man threatening the dock employee saying "I will kill you!" multiple times remains unclear in the footage, many media outlets, including the New York Post confirmed it was Ajay Thakore, who has previously been part of similar confrontations.
Apart from threatening to kill the dock worker, the man in the video also flashed at the latter, as the yacht moved away from the marina. In the wake of this incident, here's looking at who Ajay Thakore is.
Ajay Thakore also goes by the name Ace Rogers
According to Daily Mail, Ajay Thakore also goes by the name Ace Rogers and he is a wealthy businessman and philanthropist based in San Diego, California. He is the CEO of Doctor Multimedia, a local medical marketing agency, and Gopher Media LLC.
He has previously faced similar controversy in 2021 when he was accused of harassing the employees of a La Jolla pizza joint called American Pizza Manufacturing. Its founder Andrew Melone alleged back then that it all started with Thakore defaming the take-and-bake pizza establishment on social media.
However, things escalated when the Indian-origin business owner reportedly parked two of his cars directly in front of the eatery, blocking its entrance, with texts, "Take N Bake Pizza Sucks" glaring on top of it.
Melone also claimed that an airplane flew over the locality with the banner reading, "Just Say No to Take N Bake Pizza." Not only that but Ajay Thakore reportedly involved another pizzeria in the area Carino's, with planes displaying messages like "Carino's Pizza is Better than Take N Bake."
Additionally, Thakore and his companies filed a $10 million lawsuit against Andrew Melone and his public accusations, claiming that they were "exercising their First Amendment Rights" and protesting against discrimination. The owner of the pizzeria countersued, alleging Thakore had persistently harassed him and his company. The two civil lawsuits are still underway.
Exploring the recent controversy surrounding Ajay Thakore
On the afternoon of March 10, 2024, Ajay Thakore's multimillion-dollar Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 yacht was not allowed to park in the Seaforth Boat Rental lot in San Diego's Marriott Marina. He was reportedly there to pick up an employee. The video of the incident has now gone viral.
It shows a man standing on the edge of the yacht threatening to "kill" the worker identified as Joseph Holt, as per CBS 8. Later, as the boat moved away from the dock, the former dropped his pants and made inappropriate gestures toward the 21-year-old employee. The harasser even threw $100 bills at the guy which fell into the water.
Holt told reporters that he "respectfully" told the driver not to park in the private space and was hoping to have a "conversation" with him about his "cool boat," when "it completely went the other way."
"I really didn't know how to process it. I really was trying to restrain myself from getting fired from my job or stepping out of line. The only thing I did was give him the bird," Holt stated.
The employee also mentioned how Thakore berated him for his minimum wage labor and called him a nobody who did nothing on a "silly job." The expensive boat owner allegedly threatened to have him fired using his "connections" and ruin his life.
The dock worker further continued,
"He had dropped his pants and started to make gestures to everybody watching and me. You can't act that way in public. It's just not okay. Especially threatening my life, at the very least. There were women and children there. That's the most important part."
In contrast, Ajay Thakore's public relations team told CBS 8 that the "interaction" was "regrettable."
"What started as a minor misunderstanding escalated into an argument, and I apologize for my actions and to those who witnessed the unfortunate exchange," the statement added.
Later, Ajay Thakore's employee Jason, whom the former was supposed to pick up during the fiasco, also issued a clarification via his boss' Instagram (@acerogersceo). He said that he was not allowed to get aboard, and was asked to "stand back" and even "forearmed" which is when Thakore allegedly "flipped" as he was protective of him, his fiancé, and his other employees, tagging it as a long-drawn misunderstanding.
In the caption of the post, it was Ajay Thakore who seemed to issue a statement:
"As a leader, I defend my own fiercely with everything I have, and I will never apologize for that. You can choose to believe that I just pulled up to the dock and started yelling, or you can realize that a lot happened before the cameras were rolling and that it takes two sides to escalate a situation."
Notably, in the aftermath of the incident, Port of San Diego Harbor Police were called in, who arrived 10 minutes after Ajay Thakore's boat left the marina. Joseph Holt told the news outlet that the officers didn't take his complaints seriously and were even laughing at him.
The department responded by telling CBS 8 that they were called in to deal with a "possible intoxicated vessel operator" who had departed the area before they got there and that they were unable to do anything with. The statement went on to say that a report had been made and that the police had spoken with the complainant and witnesses.
Palm Beach International Boat Show returns to West Palm Beach waterfront
The Palm Beach International Boat Show returns this week with more nearly 1,000 vessels on display, including super yachts from around the world.
Tickets are on sale now for the show that runs March 21-24 along the West Palm Beach waterfront.
The show, which started in 1982, has grown to a major economic engine for the community, with last year's impact estimated at $1.05 billion statewide — nearly as much as the $1.3 billion Miami International Boat Show, said Alyssa Freeman, executive director of the Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach County, which owns the boat show.
More: Cool front for South Florida won't be its last even with the first day of spring here
"Palm Beach is really not that far behind Miami, and Miami is the biggest in the world," Freeman said. "That was really exciting."
This year's boat show features an expanded Super Yacht Show at Palm Harbor Marina, showcasing yachts that typically stretch longer than 80 feet and have a variety of luxurious amenities that include hot tubs, crew quarters, dance floors and sun decks.
"We have more super yachts there than we ever have before, and they're even bigger," Freeman said, noting that at 236 feet, the vessel Casino Royale takes the title of largest yacht at this year's show. The title of "most expensive yacht" goes to Come Together, a 196-foot vessel priced at $59.95 million.
"Everybody, when they think about super yachts, they think about Monaco and Miami, but Palm Beach is a real player in these boat shows and the yachting world," Freeman said.
Exhibitors continue to be drawn to the Palm Beach International Boat Show by the opportunity for high sales year after year when compared with other South Florida boat shows, she said.
"I've heard from several of them, this is their favorite show to attend," Freeman said, "And that's why, because their sales are higher at Palm Beach."
The show continues to make headway in improving its sustainability efforts, she said. After reducing single-use plastics, a major change this year is the addition of water bottle refilling stations throughout the show, Freeman said.
"I think that's exciting because everybody's talking about sustainability and how we can be more sustainable," she said. "Every year, we take little steps to be more sustainable."
Freeman said she is excited for this year's AquaZone presented by Nautical Ventures. The attraction showcases some of the "yacht toys" that are new or popular on the market.
"It's so cool, because there are people actually in the water demoing yacht toys, and it's usually the latest and greatest," she said. "There's always something new every year that we've never seen before."
The Palm Beach International Boat Show also features a range of seminars, demonstrations and discussions throughout the weekend, including mental health in yachting, tips to boat to the Bahamas, safe boating to protect sea turtles and how to address active threats and piracy.
Freeman, who has children, said she loves the Kids Fishing Clinics scheduled for noon and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday with captain Don Dingman.
"Captain Don has been doing this for years, and he does a fantastic job," Freeman said. "The kids actually get to go home with a free rod and reel once the clinic is over."
The association produces the Palm Beach International Boat Show with Informa Markets' U.S. Boat Shows division.
"As we gear up for the 2024 Palm Beach International Boat Show, we are excited for our return to Downtown West Palm Beach to celebrate the rich history of this esteemed event," Andrew Doole, president of U.S. Boat Shows at Informa Markets, said in a news release. "Each year, we’re grateful for the warm welcome and support from the community, which truly makes this event a highlight on the calendar for both residents and visitors alike."
Informa also produces the Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary art show happening March 21-24, at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. A Windward VIP ticket to the boat show includes admission to the art show as well.
In addition to serving as a cornerstone festival of spring in West Palm Beach, the boat show launched the Palm Beach International Boat Show Gives Back program to provide hundreds of thousands of dollars in contributions to local nonprofits, Freeman said.
The grant program had a soft launch last year and formalized the boat show's four-decade practice of giving back to the community, Freeman said.
"We're really excited about it," said Freeman, who added that the boat show team is working with the Community Foundation to manage the grant program, which they hope to grow. "That's something that's a super high priority for us."
Money raised through a portion of the boat show's ticket sales, optional add-ons and some related activities goes toward the fund.
The boat show in February announced that the first round of grants totaling $500,000 would go to 25 nonprofits that have marine-related programs or projects, including Florida Fishing Academy, Loggerhead Marinelife Center, Florida Atlantic University, Inlet Grove High School, Palm Beach State College, Sea Turtle Adventures and Friends of Manatee Lagoon.
"We're hoping one day we'll be able to say that it's a million dollars," she said. "So fingers crossed. It relies on the success of the boat show and the support of the community. With that, we will continue to grow."
What: Palm Beach International Boat Show.
When: Noon to 7 p.m. March 21, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 22 and 23, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 24.

A video of former President Donald Trump is shown on a screen, as the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol holds its final meeting on Capitol Hill in Washington, Dec. 19, 2022. (AP)
Jan. 6 committee didn’t ‘suppress testimony’ about Trump push for 10,000 National Guard troops
If your time is short.
The House select committee that investigated the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol didn’t publicly release a transcript from its January 2022 interview with former President Donald Trump’s deputy chief of staff, Anthony Ornato, because the Department of Homeland Security was reviewing it for potential security concerns, a letter between the committee and DHS shows.
In the transcript, Ornato said he recalled other White House officials saying Trump suggested having 10,000 National Guard troops on Jan. 6, 2021. But he didn’t say Trump gave an order for that many troops.

Recent reporting claimed the House select committee that investigated the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol hid evidence related to the White House’s response that day.
Conservative news outlets, including The Federalist , The Blaze and Newsmax , reported that the select committee "suppressed testimony" from former Deputy White House Chief of Staff Anthony Ornato that proves former President Donald Trump pushed for 10,000 National Guard troops at the Capitol.
Facebook posts also shared news articles making this claim. These posts were flagged as part of Meta’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta , which owns Facebook and Instagram.)
(Screengrab from Facebook)
The news outlets cited a transcript of a Jan. 28, 2022, interview with Ornato that Rep. Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga., who leads the House Administration’s Subcommittee on Oversight, publicly released March 8. House Republicans have reopened an investigation into the Jan. 6, 2021, attack because they deemed the select committee’s work "incomplete."
"The Select Committee’s failure to disclose this transcript is additional evidence that the Select Committee only released evidence that fit their narrative," the Oversight Subcommittee said in its first report , released March 11.
The Jan. 6 select committee, composed of seven Democratic members and two Republican members, concluded its work in December 2022 with a 845-page final report . During its 18-month investigation , the select committee held 10 public hearings, interviewed more than 1,000 witnesses and collected more than 1 million documents.
Ornato’s January 2022 interview transcript was not publicly released until recently for security reasons, Reps. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., and Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif., told PolitiFact. Both Raskin and Lofgren served on the select committee.
The transcript aligns with the select committee’s conclusion that Trump didn’t order the deployment of 10,000 National Guard troops before or during the Jan. 6, 2021, attack. It provides no evidence to negate this finding.
We previously fact-checked claims that Trump requested thousands of troops and Democrats rejected this request. These claims are False. There’s no evidence Trump gave this order.
As part of the select committee’s investigation, the committee members and staff interviewed Ornato and Secret Service personnel. Ornato left the Secret Service in 2019 to become Trump’s deputy chief of staff and was still in that role Jan. 6, 2021.
The select committee was "obligated to return certain Secret Service transcripts," including this Ornato transcript, to the Department of Homeland Security "for redaction of sensitive security information before public release," Raskin told PolitiFact.
Lofgren also said this was the case.
This obligation was documented in a publicly available letter the select committee sent to the Department of Homeland Security in December 2022.
The letter said the transcribed interviews with Secret Service personnel were "not intended for public release" at the Secret Service’s direction. Therefore, the select committee said it summarized facts from these interviews for its final report without revealing the Secret Services’ operational details or its agents’ personal information.

One of Ornato’s transcribed interviews, conducted in November 2022 , was among the select committee’s publicly released materials . The committee said in the letter that this transcript was published because it "addressed a range of intelligence information important to the Committee’s conclusions about January 6th."
The committee noted in the letter that Ornato was not a functioning Secret Service agent at the time and it significantly redacted the November 2022 transcript to address the Secret Service’s security concerns.
The Oversight Subcommittee said in its report that Loudermilk sent letters to the Department of Homeland Security in August 2023 and January 2024 requesting all of the select committee’s interview transcripts. The department said it possessed 12 transcripts and gave the subcommittee six of them. The others have not been released because the department’s review is not complete, the Oversight Subcommittee’s report said.
In the 153-page transcript of Ornato’s January 2022 interview, mentions the National Guard multiple times. Ornato said he recalled Trump floating the number 10,000, but said the president never gave the order.
First, Ornato was asked whether he knew if Trump had asked Jan. 4, 2021, for 10,000 National Guard troops to be deployed Jan. 6, 2021.
Ornato responded, "I was not aware of that."
Soon after, Ornato was asked again whether he recalled any discussions before Jan. 6, 2021, about "having 10,000 troops or any other number of troops" to deploy.
Ornato said he recalled overhearing a phone conversation a day or two before the Capitol attack between Trump’s Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser in which Meadows asked if Bowser needed more guards. Ornato said he had heard only Meadows’ side of the conversation.
"I remember the number 10,000 coming up, you know, the president wants to make sure that you have enough. You know, he is willing to ask for 10,000," Ornato said. "I remember that number. Now that you said it, it reminded me of it."
Ornato said he did not hear any discussion of 10,000 troops after this. Ornato said Meadows asked the Defense Department to set up a quick reaction force at Joint Base Andrews, just outside of Washington, D.C., in case additional National Guard troops were needed.
When asked, Ornato said he knew of no order to deploy National Guard troops on the morning of Jan. 6, 2021.
"And apart from that conversation that you overheard with Mayor Bowser and Chief Meadows, you did not learn of any other additional efforts or (an) order regarding 10,000 troops?" Senior Investigative Counsel Soumyalatha Dayananda asked Ornato.
Ornato responded, "No, not 10,000 troops, no."
Conservative news outlets and social media posts claimed the Jan. 6 select committee "suppressed testimony" from Ornato that proves Trump pushed for 10,000 National Guard troops at the Capitol.
The select committee did not release this transcribed interview with Ornato because it was under the Department of Homeland Security’s review. As a former Secret Service member, Ornato’s transcript needed to be reviewed for potential security concerns.
The select committee considered Ornato’s and other Secret Service testimony when publishing its final report on the Jan. 6, 2021, attack. The report concluded that Trump did not directly order deploying 10,000 National Guard troops before or during the attack. Ornato’s interview transcript does not negate this finding.
We rate the claim that the Jan. 6 select committee "suppressed testimony" involving 10,000 National Guard troops False.
