Silolona features five spacious, air-conditioned, ensuite cabins below deck. The three master suites – Asmat, Bali and Java – are furnished with king beds and tastefully appointed with the colors, textures, and styles of their namesake islands. Two cabins, furnished with double beds, boast the exotic decor of Sumba and Borneo.

Rare artwork hand-picked by the owner on her extensive travels throughout the archipelago invoke romantic sea voyages along the historic Spice Route. The relaxing ambience and sumptuous furnishings create the perfect base from which to explore island wonders.

Dining and Lounge Facilities

Panoramic windows bring the spectacular views into the air-conditioned teak dining area and lounge. Silolona’s main deck hosts alfresco dining with the ever-changing scenery of the passing landscapes and a sea breeze. Tables convert into daybeds for guests to relax on between meals.

Dining is a lavish affair aboard Silolona. Chefs cater to individual preferences while serving the finest fresh, local ingredients. From Asian fusion to traditional western fare, each meal is a joy for the senses.

Exploring Underwater Indonesia

Silolona is a licensed PADI Dive Center equipped with three tenders. Experienced PADI instructors offer a choice of incredible, often secret sites to explore these vast underwater ecosystems. Discover some of the world’s last unblemished coral reefs teeming with a dazzling range of aquatic life.

Onboard experience.

Silolona has five classically decorated, romantic guest cabins; three have king-size beds with additional lounge areas, while two have double beds. Adorned with traditional woven textiles and Indonesian artefacts, these cabins combine the warmth of solid wood with neutral cream tones, creating an elegant, relaxed ambiance. All cabins feature air-conditioning and ensuite bathrooms, and evoke the style and tradition of Indonesian heritage.

ACCOMMODATION

Communal spaces.

An indoor lounge and dining area is naturally lit with large windows, carrying through the theme of wood combined with cream linens and printed textiles. Outside, there’s a beautifully lit lounge area with daybeds, sun loungers and ample space for alfresco meals at the dining table. Two additional lounge spaces are fitted on the bowsprit and the aft deck, providing room for relaxing in the shade and taking a moment to appreciate the exquisite landscapes that Indonesia has to offer. The dedicated chef prepares menus according to guests’ preferences, with culinary creations including traditional South East Asian specialties as well as classic Western fare.Onboard, Silolona is equipped with a PADI dive centre, water skis, wakeboards, kayaks and fishing gear.

Built in 2004, Silolona offers guest accommodation for up to 12 guests in 5 suites comprising a master suite. There are 10 beds in total, including 3 king, 2 queen and 5 singles. She is also capable of carrying up to 16 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht charter experience.

When not cruising Silolona has onboard an incredible selection of water toys and accessories for you and your guests to connect with the waters around you. Principle among these are waterskis that are hugely entertaining whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro. If you enjoy diving you'll appreciate the diving equipment and the PADI certified professionals on board. Another excellent feature are wakeboards so guests can show off at speed. If that isn't enough Silolona also features kayaks, fishing equipment, paddleboards and snorkelling equipment. Silolona has a 5.8m/19' Tender to transfer you from ship to shore.

Outside, there is a beautifully lit lounge area with daybeds, sun loungers and ample space for alfresco meals at the dining table. Two additional lounge spaces are fitted on the bowsprit and the aft deck, providing room for relaxing in the shade and taking a moment to appreciate the exquisite landscapes that Indonesia has to offer.

Inside, Silolona has a spacious air-conditioned lounge with a huge C-shaped sofa laden in pillows, a dining room with a long wooden table where you can enjoy sumptuous meals prepared by your private liveaboard chef, a bar where you can gather with friends and family to plan your next adventure, and a multimedia centre with a flat screen TV, stereo system, and collections of books, movies and board games.

With five stylish cabins including three with king-sized beds and two with double beds, Silolona can comfortably sleep up to 10 guests, which makes the yacht an ideal choice for families, groups of friends or liveaboard retreats. The Asmat, Bali and Java suites have king beds and ensuite bathrooms with his and hers sinks and luxurious showers, while the Sumba and Borneo rooms are slightly smaller and have double beds and ensuite bathrooms with single sinks and luxurious showers. Each of the cabins is air-conditioned and tastefully decorated with local textiles and artworks from the places and cultures they are named after.

Facilities & Services

The dedicated crew of 17 aboard Silolona include an expedition leader who can help you plan picnics on deserted beaches, trekking trips up volcanoes and visit to traditional villages. The private chef will work closely with you to plan bespoke meals catered to your dietary needs and tastes, and the dive instructor can take you to underwater caves, shipwrecks and reefs, as well as help you earn your PADI diving card, as the yacht is a certified PADI dive centre. Guests are also welcome to use the fishing gear, wakeboards, waterskis and kayaks onboard.

Diving is very often on top of the list. And of course for those curious about the under water world, snorkeling or free diving is a fantastic way to get glimpse. Destinations, such as Indonesia or Maldives , are perfect for those eager to explore by the underwater world. Most yachts are equipped with professional diving equipment and enough space for a large group of divers. Besides having access to Dive Masters onboard, some yachts even have an accredited PADI Diving School onboard. In this case you would essentially be diving from the complete comfort of a modern atmospheric ship at bucket-list dive sites.

The splendid, 164ft, motor-sailer yacht, Silolona, offers lavish private chartered cruises through Eastern Indonesia. Built in 2004 along the traditional lines of an Indonesian Phinisi complete with luxurious amenities, she presents a wide choice of spacious areas designed for relaxation and entertainment indoors or outdoors, and is fully equipped for scuba diving, and other water activities.

Life On Board

Silolona liveaboard offers beautiful accommodations for 10 guests in five air-conditioned suites, including a master suite. All the cabins have full air-conditioning, luxurious en-suite shower rooms and every modern amenity.

Her interiors feature large windows, natural woods, light linens, and bright, printed textiles. The vessel has an indoor lounge and dining area, which is perfect for sharing stories with your family and friends after a day of Indonesian adventures. Also indoors is a multi-media center and a library.

Outside is a delightful al-fresco lounge area with daybeds, sun loungers, and a shaded open-air dining area. There are two more lounge spaces on the bowsprit and aft deck providing a place to relax in the shade and take in the magnificent views of Indonesia passing by. At your request, massages and spa treatments can be administered by a professional therapist, as well as yoga sessions.

To fuel your adventures, you’ll relish food selected fresh from local food markets and cooked to perfection, either on board or on an open beach fire. The five-star chef specializes in international gourmet cuisine with an Asian flair. You can also specify your own menus to ensure a variety of familiar foods, and your favorite dishes prepared in the way that you like them best. Indonesian cooking classes with the chef are available on request.

Water Activities Abound

Silolona is a fully licensed and equipped PADI Dive Center, with three full size tenders to transport you with ease. All dives are guided by an experienced fully certified PADI instructor, who will be happy to teach you if you are new to scuba diving. Silolona also has a wide variety of water toys on board including water-skis, wakeboards, kayaks, donuts, sport fishing equipment, stand up paddleboards and snorkelling equipment.

Dazzling Destinations

All destinations offer world-class diving. The Komodo National Park is the natural habitat of the Komodo dragon and a World Heritage Site; the Flores archipelago has ancient cultures, textiles, and scenic volcanoes; the beautiful Banda islands, aka the spice islands, have an amazing history and stately old Dutch mansions, and are the native home of nutmeg.

Raja Ampat offers extraordinary marine life and pristine seas, Asmat (West Papua) features ancient tribal customs and powerful art, and you can swim with whale sharks in Cenderawasih Bay. On land, you can explore remote villages and experience cultural ceremonies and dancing. See the Ikat Textiles being hand woven with naturally dyed and spun cotton threads. Walk through the only known habitat of the Komodo Dragon and hike up the sides of puffing volcanoes.

6 Day - Komodo

Embarkation

PM : After embarkation at Labuanbajo, sail north up the eastern coast of Komodo Island to Sabolon Island for water sports and beach relaxation and a sunset cocktail on the scenic coast of this small beautiful island. 

AM : Visit Rinca island park to see the Komodo Dragons in their natural habitat. Trek directed by Park Rangers. Early morning walk to see the Komodo dragons in their native habitat along with wild boar, monkeys, and wild water buffalo and a score of birds on a guided walk with rangers from Komodo National Park.

PM : Return to Silolona for big brunch and sail to a nearby rocky islet for a spectacular underwater dive. Afternoon beach stop at Langkoi with the possibility to swim with Mantas (if they are there). 

AM : The Padar Island is one of our favorite ones: it is superb and enables many activities: water sports such as sea kayaking, water skiing, diving and snorkelling.

Those who prefer to walk and discover the surrounding fauna will have the opportunity to observe many kinds of birds in their natural environment.

PM : The view of nearby islands from the top of Padar is stunning. Admire the different shades of the sea when the sun and clouds are reflected in it. 

Batu Muncul

AM : This morning you will wake up again in front of truly magnificent scenery! Batu Muncul offers some stunning crescent-shaped beaches with pristine white sand where the swimming is superb.

PM : There are also some excellent spots for diving and snorkeling. 

Banta Island

AM : Although Banta Island lies outside the National Park boundaries, its numerous fingers like bays and crescent-shaped beaches feature excellent diving and snorkeling. This island is noted for its large population of giant turtles and manta rays.

PM : Enjoy a beach bar-b-que as the sun sets and the skies shift to the brilliant stars of the Southern Hemisphere as the Milky Way makes it arc across the night sky. BBQ on the beach on a nearby island. 

Disembarkation

AM : Early morning stop on the way to Labuanbajo for the disembarking.

8 Day - Raja Ampat

AM : Upon arrival in Sorong, the Crew will welcome you at the airport and arrange the transfer to the nearby harbor where the MSV Silolona will be waiting.

PM : Set sail for the Raja Ampat Archipelago. For the next week, you will be onboard Silolona and served by a professional crew of 17. Depending upon the winds and the tides and wishes of our guests, you may choose to snorkel or dive with our experienced PADI dive instructor, kayak, water ski, fish from the tenders, visit a village or relax on a pristine white sand beach. All meals will be served alfresco on Silolona’s spacious teak deck and feature our own Asian, Fusion and Western cuisine prepared by the talented Chef with an emphasis on fresh tropical fruits, organically-grown vegetables, freshly caught seafood, and made-onboard pastries and fresh bread. 

Dampier Strait

AM : In the 1700s William Dampier reached the northwestern tip of Papua and traveled with the rising tide into the great channel that now bears his name. The Dampier Strait conveys massive quantities of seawater, forcing currents to flow parallel to the equator where most currents flow North and South. Dampier’s tidal surges carry planktonic feasts that attract hundreds of manta rays at this time of year near Arborek Island.

After an alfresco breakfast on deck, dive down to the shallow sandy bottom and wait for the giant mantas to pass overhead circling back again and again, or swim with these gentle giants at the surface, as they glide by graceful and mysterious.

PM : In the late afternoon, trek through the forest of Sawingrai village on Pulau Gam, guided by a local Papuan, to catch a glimpse of the mating rituals of the elusive and ethereal Red Bird of Paradise.

Dine under a starry sky, then the Silolona will sail North-West towards the Wayag Archipelago.

Wayag Archipelago

AM : Cruise by tender or kayak silently through the Wayag lagoon and its magical maze of limestone karst ‘gumdrop’ islands adorned with pitcher plants and wild orchids.

No words can adequately describe the sense of exploration and discovery of a world as it must have appeared before the arrival of man.

PM : A must for a panoramic view of Wayag’s Bay and karst pinnacle, is to climb Mt Pindito, just after dawn or sunset. This is a short climb yet fairly vertical from the beach through jungle scrub.

Search for tropical orchids, insects eating pitcher plants, and flock of red and green parrots. 

AM & PM : Sail into magnificent Aljui Bay, an extensive mangrove-lined inlet, home to the Cendana pearl farm. Visit the pearl farm for a tour of their operations, for a fascinating glimpse into the skill, time and energy it takes to cultivate natural pearls - especially exciting on harvest day as each oyster shell is opened to reveal a pearl. Pearl farms function as de facto marine reserves. And yes, they do have pearls for sale-but although they are a bargain, these are amongst the world’s finest pearls with a commensurate price tag!

Aljui Bay, Fam & Pulau Yeben

AM : Aljui Bay is also known for its underwater abundance of unique crustaceans, including zebra crabs and Coleman’s shrimps riding on fluorescent-colored fire urchins. Under the Cendana jetty enjoy an incredible muck dive or snorkel to see dozens of stonefish, ornate ghost pipefish and frogfish.

PM : Now acclimated and attuned to the rhythm of the tides and life onboard, snorkel or scuba the varied coral gardens of the richest reefs known to mankind. Paddle through the uninhabited islets and turquoise waters surrounding Pulau Fam, kayak the perfect white sandy circle of tiny Pulau Yeben. 

AM : Final dives at Cape Kri in the morning, maybe go snorkel to the Passage.

PM : We will spend the afternoon in the Gam mangroves kayaking.

AM : Bid farewell to the Crew and Silolona in Sorong - The Crew will escort you to the nearby airport on time for your flight to Bali or Jakarta. 

11 Day - Banda Spice Islands

AM : Upon arrival in Ambon, the capital of the Maluku Archipelago, you will be greeted by the Crew of Silolona and whisked by tender onboard.

PM : Within a short distance of our anchorage in the Bay of Ambon are several excellent dive sites including an excellent critter dive. Just out of the Bay of Ambon are several other interesting dive sites including Pintu Kota. At sunset set sail for the fabled Spice Islands following in the wake of many world’s most famous explorers for a distance of 120 nautical miles. 

Banda Neira

AM : As the sun peaks above the horizon on our approach to Banda, you will soon be able to distinguish the outlines of the various islands and the tall, prominent cone-shaped peak of Gunung Api, with its thin plume of smoke drifting from the summit. The rich volcanic soil and fresh sea breezes provide the perfect home for Banda’s native tree, the stately Myristica Frangrans, whose fruit yields both nutmeg and mace. The approach to Banda Neira stirs thoughts of past explorers and captivates the imagination as our two-masted wooden schooner glides into the deep still waters of the Zonnegat Passage framed by the volcano and drops anchor.

PM : Evocative remnants of Dutch mansions and two ancient forts dominate the quaint sleepy town of Banda Neira. Stroll through the wide tree-lined streets of Banda Neira town stopping to visit the museum, the former VOC Governor’s Mansion, the old church and Fort Belgica, the now silent sentinel and guardian of the Zonnegat Straits between Banda Neira and Pulau Lonthor. Small dug out canoes paddle each morning to supply the outdoor market with freshly caught tuna, local savoury snacks, wild almond candy, mounds of spices, and tropical fruits.

On May 10, 1988, Gunung Api last erupted after lying dormant for centuries. Lava flowed north from near the summit and into the sea, cooling in gentle undulating waves destroying both nutmeg gardens and corals. Today, just a little over 20 years later the lava flows provide one of the most stunning dives with giant sea fans and other corals set against a black backdrop. The coral growth is phenomenal largely due to the nutrient- laden currents and clear waters that encircle Banda. Also the lava itself seems to be conducive to speed coral growth and this spectacular growth has amazed scientists and coral specialists over the world. 

Sunset cocktails on the ancient ramparts of Fort Belgica with cultural events as the sun sets slowly over the towering Gunung Api Volcano. 

AM : Full-Day cruise/sail to Pulau Run to see the old church and wonder at the quirk of fate that moved Run from the center of world trade to become a very isolated dot that is home to only one remaining family. Hiking and exploration of ruins of old mansions and nutmeg factories.

PM : Pulau Run is also noted for its diving with great deep walls teeming with fish life as well as the nearby tiny island of Neijalaka. Sail back to Banda Neira arriving at sunset for our overnight anchorage. 

AM : Pulau Ai remains amongst the most traditional of all the islands with one large village boasting of the perpetually winning team of 40 men who paddle their sacred ceremonial war canoes called Kora-Kora to the rhythm of the drum and chanting. Tradition and ritual remain very much alive and offerings must be prepared weeks in advance before any adat rituals or dances that keep their violent history alive for the coming generations are performed.

PM : Visit the village and hike to the ruins of the old Dutch Fort Revingil where a few cannons remain. The diving on Pulau Ai is considered to be amongst the best in the Banda islands again with crystal waters and beautiful soft corals and large schools of fish. 

Gunung Api & Pulau Hatta

AM : Predawn departure for the hike to the summit of Gunung Api Volcano. While it is only 666 meters in height the climb is a bit challenging due to the volcanic scree and steepness of the slope. Every bit of effort is well rewarded by the stunning panorama from the summit towards Banda Neira and beyond over the crystal blue waters of the Banda Sea.

Return to Silolona for a swim and a well-deserved breakfast. During breakfast, we’ll sail to Pulau Hatta, formerly called Rozengain Island in colonial times.

PM : Pulau Hatta is noted for some of the best dives in the Banda Islands. Sir Alfred Russel Wallace, leading naturalist and co-founder of The Theory of Evolution with Darwin wrote in the mid 19th century, living coral and even the minutest objects are plainly seen on the volcanic sand at a depth of six or seven fathoms. 

Gorong Island, South East Coast of Seram Island

AM : Explore the small island group east of the rugged mountainous island of Seram, known as the Mother Island of culture in Maluku.

PM : Excellent beaches and an impromptu village visit to a long-established Muslim village important since the days of the Spice Island Trade. 

Tomolol, Misool Island Group & South Misool Islands

AM : The remote islands of Misool are a range of majestic limestone structures with precipitous cliffs, craggy spires and razor-sharps rocks. We will be anchored in an absolute spectacular anchorage. This area unfolds to divers at least 3 species of the pigmy seahorse, no larger than a fingernail and the most beautiful soft coral jungles of Asia, with their orange, red, purple and pink shades.

PM : For those that are interested in activities “above the water”, you can paddle in yet another “secret bay” enclosed with steep rain forest walls and listen to the cockatoos flying by. 

Tanjung Putus

AM : Spend the day diving, snorkeling and water sport in pristine waters.

PM : By sunset sail to Mios Kon, by Waisai. Stay overnight in Mios Kon. 

AM : Early morning bird of paradise hike. Come back for breakfast. Do one last dive (possibly 2) at Mios Kon, Blue Magic, Sardine or Cape Kri, while the Captain do the clearance in Waisai.

PM : Afternoon do a hidden bay tour on kayak/tender. After dinner, sail to Sorong. 

AM : Bid farewell to the crew and Silolona in Sorong - Fly to Jakarta ( CGK).

History of a Luxury Indonesian Pinisi

A long time history.

Silolona history starts as early as the 1980’s through the passion of an early times explorer of the Indonesian archipelago. Patti Seery was an American entrepreneur, who was passionate by the spices trade history, and the rich culture of the remote Indonesian islands. But there was no operators in Indonesia by this time. The only way to explore the eastern archipelago was to embark on some special expeditions, leaded by anthropologists and naturalist, or by private sailing vessel. After a while, some early explorers started to occasionally chartered traditionnal wooden Pinisi , but comfort and safety onboard were really limited. That’s how Patti decided to built her own Pinisi, and provide Luxury Yacht Charter in Indonesia. She hired some of the best carpinters of Sulawesi. After few years of sweat and tears, the ultimate Pinisi was ready to sail.

The main deck has been fitted with a comfortable diner table, to enjoy the finest under the star dining. Both bow deck and upper deck are equipped by sun loungers. The bowsprit has been fitted with daybeds and cushions, and gives another view point of the vessel while sailing. Ones would rather comfortably lean back against the indoor space dividing wall. Gwyneth Paltrow was recently on board one of our most favorite yacht charter choices, Silolona Sojourns charter yachts, where she and her famiy cruised in the Komodo Archipelago in Indonesia . In her blog Paltrow raves about the yacht charter experience. Sunrise Yachts, a luxury yacht building company which is based in Turkey, has been made a main sponsor of next year’s 2011 Moscow International Boat Show (MIBS). The four-day Russian yacht show event is currently scheduled to run from April 14-17 at the Moscow’s Crocus exhibition centre.

MIBS is organised by the ITE Group and it is one of Russia’s leading boat shows and is an internationally recognised superyacht event. The show covering everything from small parts and accessories to large superyacht with over 9,000 people and 178 exhibitors attended the last year show.

The Paolo Scanu-designed Sunrise 45 yacht is an ocean-going cruising yacht that was released in 2009 to much acclaim at this was the group’s first-ever model.

Sunrise Yachts was founded in 2007 by the German entrepreneur Herbert P Baum along with the French-British yacht builder Guillaume Roché. The luxury yacht group is based in Antalya, Turkey and utilises a 10,000sq m shipyard facility. Sunrise has two sheds measuring 100m (328ft) x 16m (53ft), as well as a 70m (230ft) x 16m (53ft) fully acclimatized paint shed that can accommodate new-build and refit projects up to 65m (213ft) in length and 1,200 tonnes displacement.

Along each side of the yacht-building facility, space is available for long-term sub-contractors with the latest equipment and logistics capabilities, along with air-conditioned storage, ventilation and extraction plants. The shipyard is organized as an “assembler,” based loosely on the car industry’s model, with a small, yet powerful project management team charged with running all the in-house long-term sub-contractors.
