Brand History

In 1977 Jack Leek launched Ocean Yachts with the company’s first boat — a 40′ sportfisherman to which our 25th anniversary New Generation 40 Super Sport paid tribute. But Jack was not the first Leek to build boats in New Jersey. In fact, Leeks have been building and launching them in the historic Mullica River since 1721.

Ocean’s heritage reaches as far back as the original American colonies. Leek-manufactured vessels helped develop our coastal and river trade, create a rich fishing industry, battle pirates and privateers, intercept rum runners during Prohibition and German U-boats in World War II. We can justly say that the Leek family’s involvement in the American maritime industry is as old as the industry itself. Today’s Ocean Yachts may have little in common with those early Leek vessels, or even with C. P.’s revolutionary Pacemakers. But they express — in fiberglass instead of wood — the same spirited determination to produce the highest quality yachts in the world.

Ocean Yachts main focus is delivering semi-custom yachts to their customers. Using unique building methods to build a strong, fast, safe, and seaworthy vessel that can be built faster than custom builders but still catering to each individual customer's needs. These boats helped develop the coastal and river trade, generated the fishing industry, and even obstructed the rumrunners during World War II. Although, the Leek family’s historical boats have little in common with today’s Oceans Yachts, it’s the rich background and spirited determination that the Leek family possessed that help produce the quality yachts we see today. Throughout the years, Oceans Yachts has lived up to the Leek name by building boats for over 14 generations, but was eventually sold the Egg Harbor Group and Viking Yachts making the brand sail on. Egg Harbor Group, a highly respected company, owns some of the country’s most popular yacht brands for some time. Adding the Ocean brand to its fleet only makes the name succeed even more by continuing the tradition of Ocean Yachts and their top of the line vessels.

Displayed with speed, style, and space the 65’ Odyssey is one of the largest in the Ocean Yachts fleet. Offering ample storage and agile speed, the 65’ was built to attract customers who know a finely built yacht. Based on the 62’ Super Sport hull, the 65’ features plenty of stowage, a pilothouse-style helm, bluewater performance and the interior volume of a motoryacht similarly sized making this one of Ocean’s most notable models. Ocean’s intentions have always been to attract customers that can appreciate a fine design and this is no exception. With an enclosed flying bridge, this yacht has a more clubhouse-feel than an actual helm. This 90,000 pound vessel is enjoyed by any type of party by having a ship like helm, with twin deep-cushion pedestal chairs, a L-shape settee, wet bar, refrigerator and flat-screen TV, as well as having a luxurious salon below for more special occasions. Not only is this boat visually stunning, but also turns heads with its quiet engines while cruising at 26 knots. At 125 square feet, the cockpit is partially covered and includes seating, a table and deep stowage facilities equipped for the hard-core fishermen. The interior of the 65 is almost apartment-like, filled with décor of a subtle class. Teak joinery compliments the soft fabric hues and each social area is joined together by an open passageway and stairs. Consisting of either two or four staterooms, the 65’s layout is inviting and suitable for any guest on board.    

62 Super Sport

While being a sporty ride, this Ocean yacht was built to run a smooth performance on all types of seas. The 62’ Super Sport does not disappoint by running as fast offshore in the seas as it did on the smoother waterways of the Intracoastal. Reaching up to 38 knots, this vessel is suitable for all parties – especially those that fish. With its fishing amenities being the right ones and well placed, this yacht is fully equipped for any fishing voyage. Some features include a sturdy tackle of drawers, freshwater and raw-water washdowns, a large bait freezer, and a bait-prep station containing a sink. The enclosed flybridge boasts with its luxurious, comfortable elements including a helm and companion seats, an L-shaped lounge with table, a wet bar with refrigerator/icemaker, and a color TV making another extremely spacious and pleasant social place as if it was another salon. The exterior is just a glimpse of what the interior does to show off – the salon and galley incorporates all the amenities you need for a grand voyage. From the Bose-based entertainment center to the central vacuum system, this yacht has it all. Below deck, the four staterooms provide comfortable accommodations for any family with the master stateroom situated under the salon and the side-by-side twins to port. 56 Super Sport

The 56 Super Sport is just another fabulous edition to the mighty Oceans famous fleet. A downsized version of the popular Ocean 60 Super Sport, the 56 displays an identical flybridge, spacious three-stateroom interior, and a fully rigged cockpit. Styled with beauty and innovation in mind, this yacht features a three-head, three-stateroom floor plan, a galley and dinette situated above the salon on the deckhouse level, and headroom up to 6 ½ ft throughout the whole interior. Designer fabrics and varnished teak joinery is displayed across its inside making this yacht one for those who appreciate luxury at its finest. Fisker Ocean

Fisker slashes msrps of ocean trims by tens of thousands as it fights to stay in business.

Fisker Inc . is continuing a trying month of March as it claws at the hole it has found itself in, staring down the barrel of potential bankruptcy. With a potential shuttering of its doors looming, the American EV automaker is now pulling every lever to maximize revenues, including unprecedented discounts on its lone model, the Fisker Ocean.

Fisker Inc. currently operates as the second iteration of an EV automaker by the same name, led by founder and CEO Henrik Fisker, who, unfortunately, has already been through this challenging situation before.

2023 was already a rough year as Fisker had to lower its production targets several times, pivoting toward a strategy with dealer networks to try and boost sales. However, things truly began to slant downward following the American automaker’s Q4 2023 report, which relayed “substantial doubt” it could continue.

At the time, Fisker explained it was seeking assistance from a “large automaker” to continue its progress with the Ocean SUV and the three additional EV models in its pipeline. We quickly learned that the potential savior of an OEM was Nissan.

While those talks went on behind the scenes, Fisker hired bankruptcy consultants , which prefaced a complete halt to Ocean production after missing an interest payment, causing its stock to tumble .

Earlier this week, we reported that talks with the potential automotive partner had fallen through, and Fisker ($FSR) would be delisted on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), sitting at an abysmal $0.0896 at market close on March 25.

With a bailout investor by no means secured and trading halted, Fisker is facing grim times but is doing what it can, even if that means liquidating its existing inventory of Ocean EVs. If all the talk above didn’t scare you off, you can take advantage of a $24,000 discount on the Fisker Ocean Extreme – its most decked-out model currently available.

Fisker Ocean sees huge price cut, not comment on future

Fisker shared details of the cuts to MSRPs of all three trims of the 2023 Ocean SUV in a press release today, catering to US customers only. Here are the reduced prices:

At a certain price point, these are worth it just for the components. Restomod builders, home energy storage, raw metal recycling. Drive it till it dies and you can't get service, then sell off the battery, motor, etc. Maybe if they fully go under, they will open source everything so tinkerers can keep these on the road for the next few years.

Fisker said certain Ocean models in its existing inventory also come with as much as $7,000 worth of additional equipment, even with the discounted prices, including 22” wheels, exterior colors, and interior components.

A spokesperson for the company was very clear that today’s announcement is focused solely on the price cuts, and Fisker is not commenting on its business operations or other speculation at the moment. The release did share the following, though:

As Fisker focuses on our vision of A Clean Future for All and delivering the world’s most sustainable vehicles, the company continues to pursue dealer partnerships in North America and Europe, having announced the strategic shift to a Dealer Partner model in January 2024. Fisker is strategically positioning the all-electric Ocean SUV to be a more affordable and compelling EV choice, competitively available to EV buyers in the broadest possible market, and constantly improving via frequent Over-the-air (OTA) software updates.
