How Much Do Superyachts Cost?
When it comes to superyachts, the sky is the limit when it comes to cost.
These luxury vessels come with hefty price tags that can range from anywhere between $30 million to over $400 million.
So, if youre in the market for a superyacht, youre looking at an investment that could easily break the bank.
The cost of a superyacht is driven by a variety of factors, including size, amenities, and customization.
Generally, the larger the yacht, the more expensive it will be.
Superyachts typically range in size from 100 feet to over 200 feet, and they can be as wide as 40 feet.
The bigger the yacht, the more luxurious features and amenities it will have.
Amenities also play a significant role in the cost of a superyacht.
While some owners prefer to keep their yachts out of the public eye, others have made headlines with their extensive amenities.
From swimming pools and helicopter pads to on-board cinemas and spas, the sky is the limit when it comes to customizing a superyacht.
The more amenities a superyacht has, the more expensive it will be.
Finally, customization is another major factor that will drive up the cost of a superyacht.
Many luxury vessels have custom-designed interiors that are tailored to the owners tastes.
From custom furniture and artwork to lighting and audio systems, the cost of a superyacht can quickly escalate depending on the level of customization.
In short, the cost of a superyacht can vary widely depending on its size, amenities, and customization.
While some may be able to get away with spending a few million dollars, others may end up spending hundreds of millions of dollars on their dream yacht.
No matter what your budget is, its important to do your research and find out exactly what youre getting for your money before signing on the dotted line.
Keeping Superyachts Out of the Public Eye
When it comes to owning a superyacht, some owners prefer to keep their vessels out of the public eye.
Understandably, these individuals are concerned with privacy and discretion, and therefore tend to take measures to ensure their yachts are not visible to outsiders.
For instance, some superyacht owners opt to keep their vessels in private marinas, away from the public areas of larger ports.
Additionally, some yacht owners may choose to hire security guards to patrol and protect their vessels while they are moored or sailing.
In addition to physical security, some superyacht owners also use technology to keep their vessels out of the public eye.
For example, a yacht owner may choose to install a satellite-based communications system that allows them to keep their vessel completely off-radar.
This system works by bouncing signals off satellites rather than transmitting them, making it virtually impossible for anyone to track the yachts movements.
Finally, some superyacht owners also choose to limit the number of people who have access to their vessels.
For instance, the owner may only allow family members and close friends to board the yacht.
Additionally, the owner may choose to employ a limited number of staff to help maintain the vessel and keep it running smoothly.
These individuals may be required to sign non-disclosure agreements to ensure they do not disclose any information about the yacht or its owner.
Overall, while some superyacht owners may choose to keep their vessels out of the public eye, there are still plenty of other ways to show off the opulence associated with owning a superyacht.
From swimming pools and helicopter pads to on-board cinemas and spas, there are many luxurious amenities that can make a superyacht the envy of any jet setter.
Final Thoughts
Superyachts are a symbol of luxury and status, and the list of yacht owners reads like a who’s who of billionaires.
From the Emir of Qatar’s world-record breaking $400 million yacht to Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen’s vessel with a helicopter pad and on-board spa, the amenities of these luxury vessels are truly stunning.
With prices ranging from $30 million to over $400 million, owning a superyacht is an expensive endeavor.
Whether you’re looking to purchase one or just curious to learn more about the owners and their amenities, this guide will provide you with all the information you need to stay up to date with the superyacht scene.

So when we were at FLIBS, it seamed like we saw alot more boat registered in Bikini. What makes this a popular option? What are the differences between registering there or in the Caribbean? Also at what point does it begin to make sense to register off shore? dollar amount? having a crew? I did find a link to info on registering in the M.I. http://www.register-iri.com/content.cfm?catid=39 I think this could be an interesting discussion!

Bikini, Marshall Islands as a port of registry has become popular because of a number of reasons. They have offices for registration in some of the yachting centers of the world to make logistics easy for buyers. There is an office here on Fort Lauderdale and the staff has come to the Florida Yacht Broker Association education seminars, so we brokers can have more information. The government is actively soliciting registration there as a way make some money and have made the regulations buyer friendly, and BIKINI looks cool on the transom! There are many variables with whether to do a foreign flag including; What is the citizen ship of the buyer? How often will the yacht will be out of the US? Will the boat charter? Where will the boat be berthed most often? In what country was the yacht built? What taxes or duties were paid when the boat was originally sold, and where? What is the cost of sales tax compared with the cost of foreign registration including the cost of future compliance?
Keith_Angler Guest
Interesting. Here in southern California most big boat sales include a trip south of the border to Ensenada or Cabo for the time needed to have an Off-Shore sale. Did that change up from 90 days again? Like the big sport fish boat... www.nordlund68.com where they have taken her down to Cabo or La Paz to make it easier on the next buyer. If you are a big game fish lover you would not mind traveling to Baja to check it out right?

Tucker summed it (Bikini, Marshall Is.) up well, but let me add a caveat or two. A few years ago, and this yet may be still the case, there was a limitation on vessel age: 20 years. Also, a safety inspection by Det Norske Veritas or American Bureau of Shipping was a requirement. Not cheap. Keith_Angler, a topic brought up at the 2003 FYBA Law Seminar was the California interpretation of foreign-flagged vessels. If no import duty was paid, and even if possessing a cruising permit, yachts were getting pinched for the duty anyway. One owner--who irately paid-- took the state to court and, after a year or so, managed to get most of the duty back. Your local Marine Documentation people generally keep up to speed on this sort of 'government assistance'.

Lots of good information posted; however, I generally recommend hiring a maritime attorney for offshore registrations. Whether Bikini or other flags of interest, keep in mind when comparing the price of paying state sales tax versus cruising US on a cruising permit as a foreign vessel, you usually need to set up an offshore corporation. That and the legal fees can sometimes make a 6% sales tax look enticing. As well, there is the issue of selling the boat, as in "Not for sale to US residents whilst in US waters". However, there could be some liability protection in an offshore company owning the vessel. Additionally, there might be particular ports visited where not screaimng American could be beneficial. Considering the Florida Dept of Revenues new and aggressive approach to ‘piercing the corporate shield’ I feel it merits reviving this thread. The head of the DOR’s South Florida region , Don Bidner, has given the marching orders to his employees to seek Florida land owners with foreign flagged boats berthed in Florida waters. (Topic at an FYBA law seminar) Naturally if you have a Cayman Company owning the boat behind your Florida home, it is still near impossible to get to the ‘true’ owner. The best guess is the DOR will be going after the crews pay check stubs as proof of the source of ownership. For what it is worth..if you live in Fla, and play in Fla, and drive and use our schools… You should pay to stay. Now, I do believe the State of Fla could generate a lot more revenue if they would Cap the 6% to be competitive with the other taxable jurisdictions that have their hands out collecting $9K to $15K to lend boat owners their countries name for port of call on a transom.

A $1.4 Million-Per-Week Yacht Charter Experience
- By Yachting Staff
- January 9, 2024
Y.CO has just welcomed the 298-foot Lürssen Lady Lara to the charter fleet. The lowest weekly base rate is $1.4 million for bookings this winter in the Caribbean and Bahamas.
The yacht is also listed for sale—at more than $254 million—for the first time since the German shipyard delivered it in 2015. Y.CO’s Max Bulley and Gary Wright, along with Merle Wood of Merle Wood & Associates, represented the yacht at the recent Monaco Yacht Show.
“With Lürssen quality and stunning Reymond Langton design, Lady Lara is an exceptional yacht that was conceived with family living in mind,” Wright stated in a press release. “Her adaptable spaces, variety and flexibility, in addition to all the amazing features like the breathtaking spa area, the beach club and two pools, are ideal for multigenerational groups and put Lady Lara into a league of her own.”
Accommodations are for 12 guests in their choice of eight staterooms (for private use, the yacht is built to accommodate 16 guests). Six of the guest staterooms are on the main deck, with one on the lower deck. The master suite has its own private deck with an exterior terrace, outdoor hot tub, and indoor library. The aft-deck space in the owner’s area is called a “winter garden,” with sliding glass panels that can be closed to shelter diners from the elements.
There also are two cabins for owner’s staff or supernumeraries, in addition to the yacht’s quarters for 27 crew.
Onboard amenities include an aft-deck pool whose floor can be raised to create a dance floor. A sound system on this deck helps to create a discotheque-style environment for parties. There’s another pool up on the sundeck, this one with a swim-up bar.
On the bridge deck, guests have access to the spa, which includes a hammam, massage room, treatment room, beauty salon and gymnasium. Guests who prefer to get their exercise outdoors can do so from the beach club at water level, which has a steam room and a sauna along with a sunbathing area.
For rainy days and relaxing nights, the lower deck aboard Lady Lara includes a cinema. There’s also a touch-and-go helipad on board, if guests want to escape to a different spot up the coast.
How fast can Lady Lara cruise? According to Y.CO, the yacht has a top speed of 17 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots, which is plenty fast for exploring the islands.

- September 2, 2022
It wasn’t even a stormy day, or an unusual day of any kind, when the couple pulled in their nearly 40-foot powerboat for refueling. They’d done the drill before, having cruised around Puget Sound, Washington, and other parts of the Pacific Northwest with their three kids. But on this day, the wife had made an unfortunate footwear choice. She slipped out of her sandals while stepping ashore. “Her leg went up onto the dock and got caught under a cleat,” the husband says. “She ended up hanging in the water, with her head 2 feet underwater, and her leg was caught in the cleat. She figured, this is how it ends. She was pinned in between the dock and the boat, and I didn’t see her.”
A good Samaritan ran over to alert the husband and help free the wife, whose ankle ended up breaking in the process. “She ended up making it out, but she was understandably hesitant about boating after that,” he says. “We thought maybe if we had a bigger boat, maybe something with thrusters for more safety, wider walkways, higher railings…”
In September 2020, during Labor Day weekend, they saw an Ocean Alexander 90R at Roche Harbor on San Juan Island. It was just two years after the model had made its debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in Florida, launching a whole new Revolution series for the builder.
In regard to size, the 90R was quite a jump from the couple’s previous boat, but, boy, did it look safe—and stunning.
“It was beautiful, new, modern, felt like floor-to-ceiling glass everywhere,” the husband says. “The main-level master was fantastic. The kitchen was just outstanding. When we saw that, we decided to get one.”
They bought Hull No. 1 on the brokerage market and had it shipped from Florida to their home waters in the Pacific Northwest, where they rechristened it Voyager . The name is an homage to the husband’s years growing up in Orlando, getting to sit in the Kennedy Space Center grandstands with astronauts’ families because his uncle worked on the launchpad. It’s also a nod to the couple’s older son, who is studying microbiology and astrobiology. “If he had his way, he’d be on the first manned mission to Mars,” the husband says. “ Voyager was the first that ever went outside of our solar system, so that name fit for our family.” They even worked with a graphic designer to create a mission patch and logo for the yacht, focused on the idea of exploring new frontiers.
And explore they have, all the way up through Desolation Sound, British Columbia. Most of the time, the couple runs the boat in and around Puget Sound. They often welcome guests aboard for work outings, charitable events and other causes. They’ve offered Voyager’s use as part of a fundraiser for the Washington Autism Alliance and in a fundraiser to benefit a Seattle zoo. Political events have also happened on board, including fundraisers for members of Congress.
“We’re going to be in the boat parade here soon with the University of Washington cheer team and band director on board, with the band following on a boat behind us,” the husband says. “It’s a big recruiting event.”
They both continue to love boating—including the tasks of running the boat themselves. That’s how cruising has always felt best to them, including all the years with the smaller boat, when they’d pile in all three kids and head out for some whale watching or a weekend getaway in the islands. Everyone would sleep on the V-berth forward and the convertible lounge aft.
The Ocean Alexander 90R obviously has more substantial accommodations for eight to 10 guests—including the main-deck master stateroom that the couple loved from the start and an open-plan sky lounge with a bar where everyone can spread out and relax. Even still, for this couple, the desire to have some do-it-yourself fun on the water remains the same. They recently hired a yacht manager for the 90R who serves as a jack-of-all-trades, pitching in with whatever is needed, but on most days when cruising in the Pacific Northwest, the husband is at the helm, and the wife is handling lines.
“We try to dispel the idea that we’re snobby yachting types,” he says with a laugh. “Whether it’s us or friends and family on board, it’s usually just us.”
And in an effort to be sure there will never be another mishap, they have outfitted Voyager with the latest and greatest of everything from Wi-Fi to helm electronics. “I made sure that all our equipment and upgrades are up-to-date,” he says. “Things like night vision—we have all of that.”
The Revolution Series
Ocean Alexander’s Revolution series of yachts is now offered in three models: the 89-foot 27R, 97-foot 30R and 117-foot 35R. The flagship model, with a gross tonnage of 299, made its debut at the 2021 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. The builder worked with designer Evan K. Marshall and Arrabito Naval Architects to evolve the models, which have extensive glazing for wide-scale views from the inside out.
45 Years of Boatbuilding
Ocean Alexander got its start in 1977. The company’s first build was the Mark 1, a 50-foot pilothouse trawler that liveaboard cruisers coveted for not only its onboard space but also its seaworthy hull, which was based on an Ed Monk design. Additional milestones have included construction of the 71-foot Night Hawk , which set a size record for Asian boatbuilding in 1984, and completion of the first 100-foot-long Ocean Alexander in 2005.
Built to Battle in Blue Water
Ocean Alexander incorporates numerous techniques and materials to engineer sturdy yachts. Finite element analysis is used for modeling in a virtual space before construction begins. I-beams made of aircraft-grade aluminum are incorporated because they’re 10 times stiffer than wood or fiberglass, according to the builder. Unidirectional carbon fiber is used to reinforce critical areas, and fuel tanks are built with military-grade aluminum alloy.

By Nina Done 25 May 2023
Marking her debut onto the world stage at the Palm Beach International Boat Show in March, the custom Amels 60 (196ft) superyacht ENTOURAGE proved an instant hit, with lucky show-goers afforded the first glimpse into her chic and voluminous spaces.
The first official pictures from Damen Yachting have now been released showcasing her custom light-filled interiors by Canada-based design studio Burdifilek to perfection.
Delivered to her owner in February 2023, the 853 GT motor yacht ’s head-turning exteriors come courtesy of world-class designer Espen Øino, with Damen Yachting responsible for her naval architecture.
Appointed to create a luxurious and serene interior, Burdifilek’s first superyacht project has been a resounding success, developed in line with the owner’s “clear brief and global vision into a tranquil and elegant home at sea.”
She captures the essence of innovative superyacht design through subtle interplay with her surroundings evidenced by her seamless stream of windows, fold-down balconies and wide deck spaces.
“The Owner knew exactly how he wanted to entertain and how he wanted the flow through the spaces to be. When the sun sets, the yacht transforms, shifting from day to night, evoking a completely different feeling,” says Diego Burdi, Burdifilek’s co-founder.
“This unique opportunity led us on a journey of exploration where every design aspect of the yacht was considered at the highest level. Conceived as a floating oasis of luxury, the interiors are a playground of timeless elegance, ultimate comfort with a sense of peace conveyed through a monochromatic palette,” adds Diego Burdi, whose portfolio includes the W Hotel, New York’s Club Monaco and some of the world’s most dynamic commercial environments.
Highlights include a sprawling sundeck complete with a Jacuzzi pool, bar and sumptuous loungers, as well as a shaded L-shaped sofa and alfresco dining area, ideal for more informal meals with incredible views. Additional dining options can be found on her main deck aft, bridge deck saloon and a casual dining set-up in the main saloon. If guests so desire, they can even enjoy a meal under the stars at water level on her swim platform.
Meanwhile, with her tender tucked away in her foredeck garage, guests will thrill at the motor yacht's well-appointed waterside beach club area, featuring a sauna and day head, as well as a range of gym equipment. They also have access to the yacht's well-equipped toy locker and vast swim platform for supreme on-water fun.
On a luxury yacht charter, ENTOURAGE provides accommodation for 12 guests across 5 suites.
Positioned on the main deck, the owner’s suite comes equipped with a lounge area, two bathrooms and adjoining twin-bed guest suite, as well as a fold-down balcony providing exceptional views over the water, perfect for a morning coffee watching the sun rise. The remaining generous cabins can be found on her lower deck.
Designed to a specific brief by her experienced owner, each interior space has been meticulously crafted to create a unique feel, yet one that still maintains complete harmony with the rest of her beautiful interiors.
“It’s an extremely well-optimised design. Together with the Amels team we invested a lot of time fine-tuning the Amels 60 design, really looking back at the Limited Editions past, talking to clients. She looks beautiful,” says Espen Øino of Espen Øino International.
The Amels 60 has been developed to carry the spirit and philosophy of the Amels Limited Editions forward to a new generation. Designed with the environment in mind, ENTOURAGE features IMO Tier III compliant hybrid power and propulsion technology, cutting-edge equipment and technology, superior seakeeping abilities and a transatlantic range of 4,500 miles.

“I’m elated!” said Duncan as he returned to the dock, bustling with activity. “That was a tough day out there. We didn’t start very well but had a bit of a break with a header on the first run of the second race that let us get close to everybody and sail through some folks we need to sail through,” he explained. “We have a lot of fun onboard – joke and laugh and keep it light – and that worked in our favor when we had to grind through. CALIFORNIA YACHT CLUB
Founded originally in 1922 by yachtsmen including Charles Hathaway and Frank Garbutt, the California Yacht Club's first clubhouse was built in Wilmington, CA in Los Angeles' inner harbor (berths nos. 192 & 193), just opposite Terminal Island. Close by were the yards of renowned yacht builders Wilmington Boat Works and Fellows & Stewart (second location). In the club's inaugural year, member yachtsmen formed the first Star class fleet on the Pacific coast. Involved in all aspect of the sport, the club has encouraged a variety of pleasure boating, first in Los Angeles Harbor, and now in Santa Monica Bay.
Over the years CYC has been the club for numerous prominent yachtsmen including Merritt Adamson, Pierpont Davis, Roy E. Disney, J. Paul Getty, Samuel K. Rindge, William Stewart, James Kilroy and navigator extraodinaire, Ben Mitchell. Movie mogul Cecil B. DeMille once served as a trustee of the club and donated a gold cup for powerboat racing. Comedy film producers Al Christie and Hal Roach were both deeply involved in club activities in the twenties and thirties.
Power boating has always been a part of the club's mission along with sailing and rowing. The first CYC powerboat regatta was run in 1922 and the winner was none less than the famous Gar Wood in his Harmsworth Trophy winner Miss America. CYC's Catalina Challenge race for powerboats has been run annually since 1922.
A fire on Thanksgiving Day, 1930 severely damaged the original clubhouse although the heroic efforts of some members saved all of the trophies.
In 1932, several CYC members figured prominently in the sailing events at the Los Angeles Olympic Games. Owen Churchill, inventor of the SwimFin, won the gold medal in the Eight-Metre Class with Angelita.
Unfortunately, the club was forced to relinquish its key location in the East Basin to the Coast Guard for the war effort in 1941. A dormant period followed.
With the development of the long-awaited Marina Del Rey in the early 1960s, the club reformed in '63 and elected Fritz Overton, Commodore in 1923, as head of the "new" club. In 1966, they opened the modern clubhouse and marina facility that is their home today. The radial design of the building allows sweeping panoramic views of the marina.
The California Yacht Club is owned by the Hathaway family, owners of the Los Angeles Athletic Club. The annual "Great Catalina to Marina del Rey Rowing and Paddling Event" pays tribute to Charles Hathaway's row in 1976 from Catalina Island to the club on his 50th birthday.
The unique combination of private ownership and annually elected flag officers has worked well to establish California Yacht Club as one of the outstanding clubs in the nation.
‘Nothing left’: After California Yacht Club fire, residents mourn loss of a beloved spot

In an instant, an overnight seaside blaze engulfed decades’ worth of boating trophies, historical artifacts and cherished memorabilia at the California Yacht Club in Marina del Rey on Monday.
Fire crews attempted to control the blaze as heavy smoke and flames consumed the two-story building. By the time they had subdued the fire two hours later, only the skeletal remnants of the clubhouse were left standing.
John Myers, senior vice president of the club, said the blaze had been reported by an employee working late in the clubhouse Monday night. The fire spared the remainder of the facilities on the ground, including the docks and the yachts moored there. But the clubhouse, and particularly its second floor, was all but wiped out.
“We are working closely with the Los Angeles County Fire Department in their investigation of the cause of the incident and will share those findings when they become available to us,” Myers said.
Members are left mourning, comparing the loss to the death of a loved one.
Jennifer Dakoske Koslu awoke in Rancho Mirage at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, before the sun had risen, to find her phone inundated with text messages from club members.
The first message she read simply stated, “The CYC is gone.”
“As soon as I opened my phone, it went to a link on the Citizen app and saw a video of the club burning. I was shocked,” Dakoske Koslu said.
For the last 24 years, Dakoske Koslu and her family have been dedicated members of the CYC, whose clubhouse is a few miles away from their home in Playa del Rey. She said it is where her children have grown up, familiarizing themselves with every inch.
“I remember taking my son there on the Fourth of July when he was just 3 weeks old. It was the first place we went with him as a newborn,” Dakoske Koslu said.
She and her husband biked to the club in the aftermath of the fire, greeted by the charred remains of the building on Wednesday afternoon.
“The destruction is unbelievable. It’s clear that the fire was burning intensely on the second floor,” Dakoske Koslu said. “There’s nothing left.”
The second floor once housed a collection of the club’s prestigious racing trophies, kept on display for members and visitors. The fire melted all but a single salvageable California Cup. Most notably, the priceless King of Spain Trophy, acquired in 1929 from King Alfonso XIII, was lost.
Additionally, the club lost cherished photographs of every past commodore, a significant position within a yacht club. Members said they didn’t know if anyone had digitized the images of the commodores or of the club’s founders.
“We would tell yachting stories at the bar around lots of memorabilia, and the yachting artifacts behind the bar are all gone now,” Tom Materna said. “The yacht club provided us a facility for the off-the-water celebrations after hard-fought competition on the water.”
The CYC dates to the early 1920s, started by boat owners from the Los Angeles Athletic Club and other yacht clubs. The Board of Harbor Commissioners approved the first clubhouse in 1922, designed by famed architect Edwin Bergstrom, co-designer of the Pentagon.
In 1965, the yacht club submitted a proposal for an all-encompassing $1-million, two-story, 10,000-square-foot clubhouse on four acres off Admiralty Way. Members envisioned a state-of-the-art facility with 170 boat slips, a guest dock, a small boat hoist and a dry land storage facility for boats. The clubhouse that resulted was dedicated on June 10, 1967.
Then-Commodore William A. DeGroot Jr. told The Times that the triangular parcel of land on which the clubhouse still sits is a “perfectly logical place for a club facility, and a commanding view down the main channel of the marina.”
Though the building has historical significance to its members, it does not have a historic designation, according to Linda Dishman, president of the Los Angeles Conservancy.
“We are deeply saddened by this tragedy and so grateful for the outpouring of support from the community and our members,” Myers said. “CYC has been a beacon for the nautical community for the past 101 years.”
Materna, 68, first found out about the fire through Facebook as friends posted videos and photos of the damage Tuesday morning. Then he began receiving calls and text messages from friends.
“Everybody woke up in the morning and realized we’d lost a significant part of the sailing community,” Materna said.
His connection to the club dates back nearly 52 years, to when he was just 16 years old. After spending 30 years sailing professionally with Hobie Cats, mainly racing catamarans — a watercraft with two parallel hulls of equal size — he recently served as a crew member on other club members’ racing yachts.
The CYC is pivotal in the boat racing community, organizing and hosting events such as the Optimist National Championship and Junior Olympic trials, Materna said. He fondly remembers the hundreds of people from across the globe converging on the marina for similar events.
The main topic among members now is what’s next for the club. Dakoske Koslu noted that the club’s ownership changed over the last few years, and many are unsure and concerned about the club’s continuation after the fire.
The club relocated to the marina in 1967, leasing the land it sits on from the county.
“I don’t think the county has really valued the contributions of the California Yacht Club as an important part of the Marina. They value Trader Joe’s because it’s more money for them,” Dakoske Koslu said.
Dakoske Koslu said she’s seen numerous small marine-oriented businesses displaced from the marina, making way for more commercialized developments such as Trader Joe’s and Recreational Equipment Inc.

Award Winning Design
When the Voyager debuted at the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS), Power and Motor Yacht magazine concluded that the "highly contemporary" design of the Ocean Alexander's new 90R series delivered a winning combination, writing that:
" Overall, the 90R delivers a knockout combination
of eye-catching looks, social spaces, luxury accommodations, and performance. "
As hull #1 of Ocean Alexander's Revolution series, the Voyager's award winning design has been covered in numerous magazines, and its 115' sister ship was awarded Best of Show at FLIBS in November 2021.
Yachting News concluded that:
" Sometimes, maybe too rarely, someone has the courage to dare and experiment new lines, new interpretations of the symbiotic relationship between the owner and (their) boat. It’s exactly in these cases that we finally have something new, something exciting. And thi s is the case for the new Ocean Alexander 90R that .... brings a wind of innovation to the whole market. "
Most recently the Voyager was featured in an 8-page spread in Yachting Magazine's July 2022 issue.

Environmental Stewardship & Supporting Charities
We don't take the natural beauty of Puget Sound, British Columbia, and SE Alaska for granted, and we're doing everything we can to preserve it. This includes eliminating nearly all single use plastics on board the Voyager, having onboard composting and recycling, motoring at fuel-efficient speeds, offering only sustainable and local (when possible) plant-based foods on board, and supporting multiple organizations to promote environmental stewardship. We have planted nearly 20,000 trees through The Nature Conservancy Plant a Billion trees project , we purchase carbon offsets though CoolEffect for each trip, and are a major donor to Wild Orca , a local non-profit focused on research and advocacy for the endangered Southern Resident killer whales. The Voyager team has also installed an extensive lithium ion battery system so we can turn the generators off for more than 12 hours a day, providing you and the sea life around us with a very peaceful experience. Finally, we auction off trips and hold events on board the Voyager each year for numerous non-profit groups from the Woodland Park Zoo to Washington Autism Alliance and Earth Creative, to name a few, and we've raised nearly $400,000 over the past 2.5 years for local charities.
Whether your visiting Seattle for Seafair, enjoying the Fourth of July fireworks on Lake Union, going to the Honda Celebration of Light in Vancouver, whale watching in the San Juan Islands, or exploring Desolation Sounds in British Columbia, you'll be in great hands with a super-professional crew.

Inside Look: Ocean Alexander 90R
- By Kim Kavin

Mapping the epic journeys of the 2021 Voyager's Award nominees
While the World Superyacht Awards celebrate the most exceptional yachts to hit the water, there is one honour that stands out from the rest. The Voyager's Award is handed to the yacht that has undertaken an adventure of a lifetime and this year there are three frontrunners eyeing the prize: Ocean Dreamwalker III, Odyssea and V6 .
From Antarctic expeditions to year-long circumnavigations, the winner of the Voyager's Award goes to the most inspiring journey of the year. With 2020 proving especially difficult for travel, owners and crew have had to think outside of the box in order to fulfil their plans successfully and safely, and all did so by heading to remote, off-the-beaten-track destinations . Here are the three Voyager’s Award nominees and their incredible journeys...
Ocean Dreamwalker III in Alaska
The owner of Sanlorenzo superyacht Ocean Dreamwalker III had visited the US state of Alaska before, but wanted to experience it in true adventurer style on board the 47.2 metre explorer . Throughout the cruise, wildlife spotting and iceberg observations were a key focus as the yacht explored the rugged landscapes and icy waters of Alaska’s southern archipelagos over eight days.
The trip began in Ketchikan, with stops to take in the awe-inspiring nature at Anan Bay, Wrangell, Petersburg, Steamboat Bay Anchorage in Frederick Sound, Tracy’s Arm, Glacier Bay Nature Reserve and Juneau before concluding in Baranof Warm Springs.
“The whole place is just spectacular,” said the owner. “Being on the boat enabled us to go into really remote regions in the National Parks – we were in wild-animal world."
Highlights included visits to the Bear and Wildlife Observatory in Anan Bay, watching bears fishing for wild salmon, as well as waking up to the sight of whales and dolphins splashing around the yacht. Guests also played on the scenic golf courses in Wrangell, went for a dip in natural hot springs on shore and enjoyed drinking whiskey served over fresh-cut glacier ice.
Odyssea in French Polynesia
The intended cruising plan for Odyssea was quite different from the adventure that her Floridian-based owners ended up having on board the 46.7 metre superyacht. The South Pacific cruise for the Heesen superyacht was meant to begin in French Polynesia before continuing to Fiji and onto New Zealand for the 2021 America’s Cup , and heading home via Australia, the Philippines and Indonesia.
Plans went awry as the pandemic took hold, however. But the silver lining was that, while isolating in the Polynesian islands , the guests and crew on board Odyssea were able to enjoy unrushed time exploring with not a soul around to disturb them.
Odyssea began her cruise around the pristine Society and Tuamotu islands chains, with days spent diving, fishing and kiteboarding. She then moved to the unpopulated atoll of Tahanea, about 300 miles east of Tahiti, to wait out the storm. “The atoll is stunning, with nothing on land except for white sands, grass and palm trees,” described the owner.
“Standout memories are the clean, clear and very warm water and healthy, thriving reefs […] we had everything we needed from a beautiful and safe anchorage,” he recounted. Daily activities including swimming with sharks, spearfishing and harvesting coconuts from the surrounding islands so that the chef could prepare fresh, delicious meals.
After having to fly home to Miami for a brief spell, the owners then re-joined the yacht as she cruised the coasts of Mexico. “We dived, fished and kite boarded our way through the Sea of Cortez, but this time we weren’t alone. The abundance of sea life was breath-taking – sea lions, fish, eels, jumping rays, dolphins and turtles,” described Odyssea’s owner.
There was one final stop in The Bahamas, where the owners spotted tiger sharks and swam in crystal clear waters, before embarking on the short trip back home.
V6 in Northern Europe
The 48.53 motor yacht V6 was bought by her first-time owner just as the pandemic began. After noncommittally looking around the market, “the need to find an escape pod to get away from the crowded European virus hot spots took on a new urgency,” said her owner. After purchasing the Flyghtship superyacht and getting her Polar Code certified, he embarked on a cruise that would begin in the Canary Islands before venturing into the more deserted realms of northern Europe.
Cold weather cruising was a significant highlight and of course a challenge for this owner’s first adventure on board. The first leg after the Med included a cruise of the UK’s coastlines, beginning in the Scilly Isles, which the owner describes as “probably one of the more underrated yachting destinations.”
V6 then cruised the Irish Sea with visits in Dublin and the islet of Strangford Lough, before moving on to explore the lochs and islands of Scotland . Highlights included sightings of basking sharks, visits to a local distillery in Tobermory, kite boarding in Tiree and taking in views of Ben Nevis mountain.
V6 then sailed further north and reached the cool waters of Norway and Svalbard. This section of the journey was filled with wildlife spotting, with sightings of polar bears, walruses, whales, puffins and eagles, guided by a professional team led by Jason Roberts, who has worked on some of David Attenborough’s nature documentaries.
“We literally had Norway to ourselves, which I believe was a truly unique experience and one I am very grateful to have enjoyed,” said V6 ’s owner, adding: “[this] is what yachting is really all about, to go and see places that only those privileged enough to own a boat can go see.”
To find out which of these incredible superyacht cruises will win the Voyager’s Award, make sure to book your tickets for the World Superyacht Awards taking place in Monaco on September 5, 2021.
