Booking Your Charter

Desolation Sound Yacht Charters’ knowledgeable and friendly team take care of all your trip details.

Your booking starts with a personal consultation so we can get to know you, your plans and your needs. We’ll assess your ability to charter based on your yachting experience and qualifications. We ask you to fill out an Experience Resume providing relevant information so we understand your proficiencies in chart reading and tidal waters experience.

Guests are given the tools to familiarize themselves with their boats prior to arrival. DSYC provides guests with a yacht manual, quick reference guide and navigational chart briefing on their cruising ground. When you arrive at the DSYC office you’ll take part in a further briefing, an on-board system orientation and practical on-water check out as required. We are committed to your safety and comfort through every part of your journey.

Desolation Sound Yacht Charters requires a 40% deposit to confirm your booking. Charter balance is due 60 days prior to commencement of charter and a mandatory daily insurance is added to the total cost of your charter in the case of hull and machinery damage. It also provides $2 million liability coverage.

A security deposit is required on your first day of charter, pre-authorized on a Visa or MasterCard. Desolation Sound Yacht Charters recommends and offers Trip Cancellation and Interruption Insurance for purchase. For additional information and the cost of this protection please inquire when booking.

Rates are for 6 days, 6 nights, from 9 am to 9 am. All prices are in Canadian dollars and subject to 12% taxes. Low Season rates are valid before June 14 or after September 14. High Season rates are valid June 15 to September 14. We also offer Early Boarding of your yacht the afternoon before your charter for $200.

If you are driving from:

Swartz Bay : Follow HWY 17 to the first off ramp "Deep Cove" to your right and continue on Wain Rd for 2.3Km to the stop. Cross over and continue on Wain Rd for 1.5Km to Deep Cove Rd, turn right and at the stop sign you will see marina ahead. Turn right and immediately left down the ramp into our car park. We have parking for 1 vehicle for charter. Our office is on the lower level. Click for a   map.

From Victoria International Airport: Follow the road leading out of the airport and turn right into Willingdon Rd, continue for 1.9Km to the stop sign. Turn right into West Saanich Rd and travel for 3.5Km to Wain Rd, turn Left in Wain Rd. Continue for 1.5Km to Deep Cove Rd to your right. Turn right and at the stop you will see the marina ahead. Turn Right and immediately left down the ramp into our car park. We have parking for 1 vehicle for charter. Our office is on the lower level. Click for a   map.

From downtown Victoria: Get onto HWY 17 northbound (Blanchard Street turns into HWY 17) and follow for approximately 30mins. Look for the signs for Deep Cove after passing Sidney town on your right, and take off ramp "Deep Cove" to your right and continue to stop, turn right onto Wain Rd for 2.3Km to the stop. Cross over and continue on Wain Rd for 1.5Km to Deep Cove Rd, turn right and at the stop sign you will see marina ahead. Turn right and immediately left down the ramp into our car park. The Government dock in downtown Comox is our  location. ed between Courtenay and Campbell River, just 1 mile off Highway 19A. The new inland route takes you from Nanaimo to Pacific Playgrounds in just 1 1/2 hours, or you may elect to travel the coastal scenic route - a 2 hour drive.

From Nanaimo/Victoria:

Head north (approximately 1.5 hours from Nanaimo or 3 hours from Victoria) on Hwy # 19 to Courtenay/Comox. Follow the attached Map to the Comox down town government docks.

By Air: Numerous direct flights from the Vancouver International Airport, Calgary International Airport and the Edmonton International Airport land daily at the Comox Valley Airport (YQQ) in Comox.

Helijet International offers non-stop flights to and from Seattle Boeing Field to the Campbell River Airport, which is a 35-minute drive from the Comox Valley. Call 1-800-665-4354 for reservations and schedules.

Introducing the MV Twee Schoenen

She is so named because of her tunnel hull, which effectively gives her two shoes, making her very stable. (She also looks a bit like a shoe from the side) Twin diesels and a shallow draft make her maneuverable and versatile. The MV Twee Schoenen was built in Port Townsend, Washington for a gentleman from Hawaii for inter-Hawaiian Island travel. Halfway through construction the plan was changed to build the boat for whale watching out of Campbell River. The boat was launched in 2006 and delivered to Campbell River but never went into service. We bought the boat in 2011 and started Comox Harbour Charters. ( Originally named DC Ferries )
